Guest Reviews
- Susan (10/5): Highly recommend staying here! - The history of the building and its location. The two sisters who own and run this B and B were so very kind. There was nothing we didn’t like.
- Cathy (10/5): A magical stay - Great location….wonderful old palazzo….many thanks to Costanza for giving us her parking spot….lovely breakfast on the terrace in this charming hilltop town….we even got to do a much needed laundry. Nothing
- Debra (9/5): -
- Ken (7/5): -
- Jayne (10/5): - This was a beautiful stay, lovely room with character, and rooftop terrace for breakfast. Staff was really nice and a great location. Wish I could go back again. Highly recommend.
- VLADA (10/5): -
- franck (9/5): - Accueil chaleureux, très bel hôtel, atypique Attention Zone ZTL à proximité, ruelle passante bruyante
- Richard (10/5): - Excellent stay all around, though it would have been nice if the shower’s hot water stayed hot a bit longer
- Malva (10/5): - My husband & I had a wonderful 2-night stay here in Ragusa Ibla (the old town) in mid-May 2025. This is a very cool old building with modern updates. Our room was comfortable & had everything we needed. There’s even a mini-fridge that we didn’t notice until the last night. The breakfast buffet was delicious, with lots of local specialties. Most important, Costanza is a wonderful host. She was responsive whenever we had questions or needed anything. Her help was critical when we had rental car trouble and she spoke to the company for us in Italian, which was faster & more accurate than the English-Italian mix we were attempting with the company representative. This is just an example of how thoughtful Costanza is with her guests. We recommend staying here!
- Nicola (10/5): DELIGHTFUL! - Absolutely loved staying here! Great location, excellent communication, easy check in (one of the owners even arranged for a taxi to pick me up from the station). The breakfast was lovely, the room was spacious and elegant. It was perfect!!
- Stephen (10/5): - We had a wonderful time during our stay here. Castanza was warm, welcoming, and even drove to the public parking
area to guide us to her B&B-- upon our arrival.
She provided dining and sightseeing advice. She assisted us to obtain tickets to a local musical production that was outstanding !!
The home is beautiful, very spacious, extremely clean, and within easy walking distance to all of Ragusa Ibla.
We highly recommend you stay here. Lovely breakfast on the terrace each morning. Thank you again for a dream vacation.
- Wayne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andreas (10/5): - Great B&B close to Metro (Duomo) and 5-10 min walk to the old city. One large bed and a "bedsofa", large bath with towels and clean towels. AC worked excellent, didn't turn on the TV. Small cooler. Remember this is a old building and no elevator. We had our own entrance, small breakfast included. Great restaurants and pizzeria and supermarket next door. This was one of the best places Ive ever stayed at in Napoli. No problems to get a cab and we had the window opened and wasn't disturbed.
- Jerome (9/5): Enjoyable visit - Location. Beautiful apartment. Helpful staff. Limited breakfast
- Janice (8/5): This is a simple bed and breakfast that is quiet and friendly. - Location was great and staff was helpful. There is one lower level room that is quite dark and not as comfortable as other rooms.
- Kathryn (7/5): A beautiful old palazzo in Ragusa - Great location, property itself is very beautiful with many antique furnishings. The hosts were very lovely people. We were slightly later than we expected to be but were greeted warmly and helped with parking and restaurant recommendations. The room I had chosen turned out to be in the very lowest level and it was a bit musty. I would recommend paying for an upper level room.
- Claudeen (10/5): Wonderful, cheerful, helpful owners helping us enjoy a remarkable place that was once a palace. - Breakfast was fine, but heavy with carbs. Parking was a challenge, however it was worth the effort to stay in Epoca which facilitated a fabulous experience during our three night stay.
- ROBERT (10/5): - Costanza was very helpful and saved us a car park outside the apartment.
The included breakfast was amazing!
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maeve (9/5): Lovely characterful accommodation with welcoming hosts - Great breakfast , great hosts who were very welcoming and made us comfortable . Characterful and well appointed accommodation . Parking the car was tricky and driving around Ragusa needed great care and skill
- Carr (10/5): One of the best places we stayed during our five weeks' holiday in Italy - We stayed four nights in Room 3, a lovely room with pieces of antique furniture, a superb traditional Sicilian bedroom suite and all the usual modern conveniences. The mattress and pillows were extremely comfortable and there are facilities to make your own tea or coffee. Breakfast was a range of Sicilian treats, with excellent coffee made to order. (There is even a small plate of Modica chocolate.)
Two sisters, Constanza and Maria run this lovely bed and breakfast accommodation, which is located in part of a renovated Palazzo. They are both very welcoming and helpful.
We experienced one cold, rainy day and spent the morning visiting some nearby churches and a Baroque palazzo. Upon our return, I spent a few hours in the comfortable living room of Epocha, which has some beautiful furniture and various books on Sicily, Baroque architecture and Sicilian needlework, as well as travel information.
Epocha is a lovely place to spend a quiet afternoon. It is also perfectly located close to the main Piazza, various restaurants and a superb bakery called Ludice Pasticcere. Nothing at all. It was perfect.
- Amy (10/5): Old world charm and elegance in the heart of the historic city - The location was great..walkable to everything. We spent 5 nights there and day tripped with our car. Do not miss Donnafugatta Castle....Costanza was a wonderful hostess and breakfast was perfect...great coffee and croissants and the view beautiful from the outdoor terrace. Our room was elegant and large...definitely check out the restaurant at the end of the street...Il Barocco..we went the there 4 times and they made us Spaghetti Carbonara even though it was not on the menu...also outdoor lunch at I Banchi right outside our door. If you are driving, be sure to have Costanza show you how to use the blue parking machine your first day..will save you frustration of trying to figure it out yourself!! Parking is tight, as in so many old cities...but once we got the hang of it it was easy.
- Wanda (8/5): Very helpful - Breakfast was very good. People very helpful and friendly. Good location.
- Kurt (10/5): - Great area and friendly staff.
- Deborah (5/5): Loved the town not the place. Never saw a room like what they advertised. - Breakfast was lovely. Location excellent. We were put in a ground floor room on a street corner where we heard every single car and delivery truck that went very close to our windows which we couldn’t open since people could have looked right in on us. It was loud and uncomfortable to be there. Woke up continually during the night. They said they couldn’t move us. We were stuck.
- Cathy (10/5): Feeling at home in Ragusa-Ibla - The location I n the lower end of the historic Ibla section of Ragusa made us feel right at home walking around Ibla and still able to get in and out of town without trouble. Also the terrace that was open to guests and used for breakfasts gave us a lovely view to start our day. There was also a wonderful bistro next door.
The rooms were big and clean with comfortable beds. We visited several of the other local baroque towns and felt that staying in Ibla was the best. Thank you to Maria and Costanza for making our stay so pleasant and especially to Maria for providing nut-free breakfast options for me! The courtyard entry was a bit dark at night. It would be great to have some more lighting for the entry.
- Robert (9/5): Wonderful stay, great location, had professional and very friendly staff - Breakfast was great, with professional, friendly staff, great offerings GPS was not reliable, spotty, had to ask locals for help, even though took us very close to property, then parking is dicey, were lucky at first and then had to search out later, but, this is how it is in these older areas. We understand that and work it out and find solutions. People and staff helped us with this
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Accommodation, our hosts, breakfast and location were all exceptional. When the shower had an issue it was fixed immediately. When we asked for a thinner pillow for sleeping it was provided Perhaps clearer directions regarding the ability to drive to the property to drop luggage and park elsewhere.
- Eric (7/5): Overall, wonderful; had the key situation not been so difficult, it would have been perfect - Location Sign in was difficult- language barriers ; owner does not live at property and a lengthy phone texting process was needed to locate key
- Michael (10/5): Epoca: Convenient, Comfortable, Well-managed BnB - One of our favorites, among ten agriturismo and small town BnBs from Catania to Palermo. Ownership and management vest in two sisters who attend wonderfully to guests' needs and queries. Our room was comfortable, the breakfasts inside or on the terrazza outstanding. Location is wonderful for viewing old-town Ragusa. Closeby parking. Epoca suited us very well. Better exterior signage for initial finding would be helpful.
- Janice (10/5): Peaceful, friendly and lovely - What a lovely place to relax and enjoy a unique part of Sicily! This quiet, elegant BnB is a peaceful and comfortable restorative.
- Anita (8/5): Very good -
- Angelica (10/5): Beautiful city, lovely small hotel, charming and helpful owner. Wish we could have stayed longer. - Breakfast fresh and delicious. Exquisite old hotel, very well maintained, upgraded and nicely furnished. Owner helped us park and gave us good local recommendations. It was ideal. Wouldn't change a thing.
- Elena (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joan (10/5): A truly unique experience in a beautiful part of Sicily. - We stayed in a lovely apartment in this fully restored family palazzo in the heart of Ragusa Ibla. We enjoyed learning the history of the place from Costanza, granddaughter of the original owner, and very capable and gracious hostess. The B&B is spacious and clean, with a perfect mix of the old and the new. A highlight was breakfast on the terrace. N/A
- Lucretia (10/5): A Unique and Comfortable Stay - This bnb is run by two sisters, one manages the reservations, the other the breakfast area. The bnb is located convenienty near all the site. We had a fabulous big room, with a small side room and large bathroom. So we finally were able to wash out some of our clothes and reboot. We followed Rick Steves self-guided walk of the old city, then jumped on a bus up to the new city. Walked down the 184 steps back to the Old City. The breakfast was served on an outdoor terrace. and was perfect. We were advised about parking, so my husband was able to snag a place literally in front of the bnb. Very important: Let the bnb know what time you plan to arrive so they can be there to let you in. This is actually true for most Italian bnbs that do not have full-time desk clerks.
- Ruby (10/5): Only there one day but we were delighted with the B&B. It’s in a great location in old Regusa. - Great location, wonderful room, secure building, balcony, and large balcony off the breakfast room. Stairs leading up to the room and up to the breakfast room.
- Ronald (8/5): Very good -
- Jonathan (10/5): Exceptional - Location was perfect for the sites we wanted to visit. Breakfast was wonderful. Nothing
- Clorinda (10/5): We enjoyed our stay. It was very quiet and a great location. - The staff was friendly, accommodating and helpful. It is a great location. Close to the main part of town. The breakfast was the same every day. It would have been nice to have a little variety.
- David (9/5): lovely B&B well located in town centre yet quiet. - central location for Ragusa Ibla yet quiet
easy parking either by the B&B or nearby
good breakfast
very helpful hostess nothing
- Sarah (8/5): Very good -
- Salvador (10/5): Porto Empedocle at its best! - We liked the absolute disposition of Giancarlo to provide the best experience for us, always ready to help without being intrusive, it looks he is and should be very proud of his beautiful property.
Whenever we were lost in the car he would go and fetch us.
- Margaret (10/5): lovely accommodation in the perfect location - beautiful room in an old characteristic building. perfect location. check in and out was smooth. the room was comfortable and beautifully decorated. breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Costanza and Maria were friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend all was good
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terri (8/5): Very good - location was great.
staff was friendly.
- Paul (10/5): Great place to stay - Great place to stay right next to car free area. Host very responsive and helpful. Room was spotless and very large, breakfast very nice. Car park very close.
- Jennifer (10/5): Stay here while in Ragusa! - Beautiful old palazzo with very large rooms. We had a lovely stay here and would definitely come back. Location was perfect. Breakfast was wonderful. Loved it!
- Diane (10/5): A perfect 10 - Staying at Epoca was the best decision we made in regards to our trip to Sicily. From pre-arrival communication with Maria and Costanza to our warm welcome our stay was perfect in every way. We were able to park right next to the B & B thanks to the sisters help which started our visit off far more relaxing. The pictures on Hotels.com are perfectly accurate but can’t even begin to capture the size and the beauty of the bedrooms. Our room had three large windows which open to let fresh air and light in during the day but can be shuttered at night to darken the room. The mattress is a very comfortable dense foam similar to our Tempurpedic at home. The water pressure in the shower was great which made the rainfall shower head a delight. We had breakfast each morning on the outdoor terrace and there was a nice selection all artfully displayed. Eggs to order were available. This hotel has only 5 rooms and is in a perfect location in the garden area of Ragusa Ibla. Truly a 10 for comfort, hospitality and location. If they have availability snatch it up for an unforgettable vacation.
- Nancy (10/5): - It was a beautiful old family home and the lovingly maintained, wonderful breakfast, walking distance to everything. Would highly recommend.
- Simon (10/5): - Perfect in every way. The location is right in the centre of Ragusa Ibla but the property was very quiet and calm.
Our room was huge, spotless and very comfortable and the breakfast was a lovely selection of local pastries, cakes as well as cold meats and cheeses. We were made to feel very welcome and will definitely stay again if we revisit beautiful Ragusa
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location, comfy bed, friendly hosts. Historic building was somewhat musty and damp. Lovely breakfast provided one morning, the other morning had limited breakfast at cafe next door since owners had family celebration planned.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Excellence location, quiet, nice breakfast terrace, good parking. There is an excellent restaurant just next door: I Banchi. We ate there both nights.
Our rooms had a smell of cleaning products that was not pleasant; very little opportunity to interact with other guests-that is either positive or negative, depending on your preference.
- Cass (10/5): - This was our favorite hotel in Sicily. It is a beautifully renovated palazzo furnished with lovely Italian antiques. The rooms were huge and immaculately clean. The breakfast was an exquisite and large selection of homemade Sicilian treats. The location was extremely convenient but not overly noisy and the woman who runs the hotel was very helpful and friendly.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing property owned and operated by Constanza and her sister Maria. Part of a palace and one of the cleanest accommodations that we have stayed in. Excellent location in Ragusa Ibla. Constanza goes the extra miles all the time and is a great organiser arranging our tours at an excellent price, extra pillows, tea you name it she does it with a smile and great efficiency ! We highly recommend Epoca.
- Monica (10/5): - Can't praise Epoca enough. Constanza was so welcoming and helped us throughout our week, finding out bus times and arranging drivers for us. Our room and ensuite were cleaned to a high standard every day and there was an excellent choice for breakfast. I certainly hope that I will return.
- mature couple (10/5): elegant, spacious - beautiful rooms (we had bedroom, sitting room and bathroom) in a fine 18th century palazzo. Enormously spacious and beautiful. Very quiet despite being right in the centre of Ragusa Ibla. Easy parking outside with a resident's permit given to us by Constanza, the owner/manager. She and her sister Maria run it and provide the most fantastic breakfast each morning. We were able to eat sitting outside on the terrace . Bathroom as luxurious as could be desired. Highly recommended.
- Caroline (10/5): Palatial rooms (literally) - This stay could not have been nicer. The room was huge - our own sitting room and bedroom really. The breakfast buffet of home made Sicilian delicacies was delicious. Maria and Constanzia were extremely helpful and very friendly. The location was perfect and car parking was available just outside in the street. Strongly recommend this B&B to anyone.
