Guest Reviews
- sandra (9/5): Would definitely stay again. - The hotel is amazing! Bed was comfortable and very quiet! Loved the furniture and up stairs patio. Just our shower was a bit wonky. Sprayed everywhere 🤷♀️
- Ken (7/5): If the bed had been softer I would not have any complaints. - Location was excellent. Staff were very helpful. Breakfast was good. Room was very nice The bed was very hard, I didn’t sleep the first night but they added an extra mattress pad for night two but it still was very uncomfortable.
- Ayala (1/5): - The town The stuff behind the desk
- Mahalia (7/5): Great location in a character building. Expect some noise. - Great, unbeatable location, friendly staff and the housekeeping lady was fantastic. Vintage decoration. Very noisy. Being and old character building, a lot of humming noise etc. that made it hard to sleep. The beds were hard.
- CLAYTON (10/5): -
- Jens (8/5): Gut - Sehr gute Lage War laut
- Garay (10/5): - Todo! El.ruido que hacia la cama
- Daisy (4/5): - The staff was friendly and helpful with assisting me in opening and closing my room, the gentleman even helped me store some cheese I was bringing back to the states. Very nice guy. The location, far from places and traveling alone I do have to stay I was a bit scared having to walk in the dark streets (which I understand it's out of the hotels hands). Waking up in the morning, I love to shower hot water was working but the amount of water coming out was impossible to shower, tired the cold water and same thing. Felt disgusted all day without being about to shower. I had to catch a flight that same morning. Sorry but don't recommend I'm a clean persona and didn't like that I was unable to shower.
- Griselda (7/5): It was fine clean and close to everything. - It looked just like the pictures, close to everything in town. There was no hot water or elevator
- Hector (6/5): - The room was ok , but they gave us a room right in the entrance in the hall to the kitchen .. so it was very loud all the time you can hear people walking at the entrance and the kitchen it was really hard to sleep .. and no parking at all .. Our room shouldn’t be a room at all .. it felt like the private room for the chef or something like that , pretty small hotel
- Esau (10/5): - Excellent location, nice room, great personnel.
- Diana (1/5): -
- Angelo (5/5): -
- Angela (9/5): -
- Fernando (8/5): -
- Sergio (10/5): -
- Raquel (7/5): -
- Barbara (8/5): - Wonderful staff, spacious room. Many flights upstairs if you need accommodations. The stairs!
- Apryl (10/5): -
- Karla Ximena (5/5): -
- Zazil (7/5): Don Miguel room needs some fixing in the bathroom. - The location is great. The room is nice decorated and the AC is nice. The water from the shower goes out of the bathroom!
- Armando (7/5): -
- Bernhard (9/5): - 5 minutes walk from the Zocalo, spacious room, good quality of sleep, very friendly staff. They help you organise tours which saves you a lot of money compared to viator or getyourguide. Breakfast is very basic.
- Teodoro (4/5): Ok for the location - My wife loved the old architecture. The look of the hotel was good. The room was the photos shown. We were not received very well at check in. Nothing was explained to us. We had to ask for the WiFi. It wasn’t given to us like most hotels. They didn’t explain the facilities, the restaurant hrs, check out time or anything else. We lost our opportunity to eat breakfast because it wasn’t explained that breakfast for only 2 hrs in the morning.
- Arvin (6/5): - Location Cold shower, little privacy (the doors have a gap underneath and windows — only a curtain provides privacy but it does the make the room sound proof).
There was mold in the bathroom.
- Herminia (8/5): - I like because it was closer to downtown The shower was dirty and the tv wasn’t working
- Leil (8/5): the hotel was nice and the staff was friendly and helpful as much as they could. - Location was great, right in the heart of the Historic district. Close to the Zocalo and other sites. They offer some excursion planning at the hotel. We walked to some nice restaurants that were within a couple of blocks and there was a grocery store just down the street to pick up any extra items. We had a situation that there were no towels available one day. They removed our towels from the room and we were gone all day on a tour. When we got back I asked about towels for the room and was told none would be available until later that evening. The hotel was fully occupied and they were not able to provide even 1 towel for our room. this was the only problem and we didn't have any issues the rest of the stay.
- DeLeon (5/5): Great stay but bring your fan and a bed cushion. - Oaxaca is AMAZING!
The staff at Casa Garay were great.
My room was perfect size, the bed was way too hard and the A/C unit did not cool the room.
Never got anyone to repair it either. Hard beds
No A/C
Shower head didn't really work to its full spray.
- Louise (8/5): Novel and fun - Its location is great. It is a bit like staying in ‘faulty towers’
The furniture and original fittings are great. My bathroom had damp and mould. The water was occasionally hot. Cold/ warm’ish mostly if lucky. The shower head needed a lime scale remover.
The breakfast coffee cups seem to all have cracks. 7/8 were cracked.(maybe they saved the cracked ones especially for us?)
- Juan (10/5): - Bed comfort or amenities ok
- Roszko (6/5): - Styl hotelu i lokalizacja. Bardzo słabe wifi, jeszcze słabsze śniadanie, bez większego wyboru. Nieadekwatny stosunek jakości do ceny.
- Ramon (7/5): -
- Ruben (8/5): - Overall it was good, the staff was super friendly and helpful, it was clean and close to everything but the mattresses were in terrible shape.
- Kassandra (10/5): -
- Omar (9/5): -
- Uriel (10/5): - Excellent!!
- Edna (4/5): - I felt the staff was not concerned at all about my stay. There was only one staff member, the waiter for the restaurant, who would ever greet me before I greeted him otherwise staff ignored me unless I said hola or Buenos Dias. It’s true, I should’ve been willing to try to speak more Spanish, obviously. But if they’re in the tourist business and they ignore tourist needs, I don’t think that speaks very well of them
- Adriana (8/5): Very good -
- Adriana (9/5): Superb -
- Jaime (10/5): - The price, location, and service are superb! Great stay. Thank you!
- Melanie (10/5): - Stay was ok a little out dated. Nice to my dog
- Annies (6/5): Pleasant - Loved the styling furniture, big comfortable bed and access to markets, central facilities The plumbing was problematic at times and the lack of airflow in bathrooms in particular difficult.
- FELIX (8/5): - Best spot to stay if want to eat at the Mercado 20 de noviembre
- Kassandra (10/5): Exceptional - Next to mercado 20 & la Soledad chocolate & mole & Mayodormo chocolate
- Teresa (2/5): - Very dirty bathrooms with mold not recommended
- Miguel (8/5): - Parking is not very close, other than that , very nice
- Hugo (8/5): Bonito, algo anticuado y mal desayuno.
- Nuria (8/5): Stay at Casa Garay - Great service and location, clean, the parking is off-site, but it has good service.
- Susan (6/5): Pleasant -
- Leanne (8/5): - Rooms were clean and quiet but the common spaces were limited and not that nice. The library was closed for renovations while we were there.
- Gabriela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alejandro (10/5): - Excelletn
- Rubia (8/5): Nice place in Oaxaca - The hotel is well located in the heart of the city. Decoration and architecture are pretty and make you travel in time. Breakfast and cleanness could be better
- Jose (8/5): Great location. - Location is great right in middle of downtown and close to everything. Only negative is bed are so hard.
- Fabricio (6/5): - its a nice room size and very quiet. we faced lack of water for some ocasions and the cleaner did not clean the room by 3 pm.
- Petra (2/5): i will never go back - location was excellent. staff were polite and helpful ....when we needed to ask for towels, soap and ice the room was a huge disappointment....nothing looked like the booking.com images. Our room was dark (the windows were for a ventilation shaft or something...air was dank. the bathroom was dirty. the towel rack was off the wall and the parts resting on a ledge, toilet paper was loose as they had the wrong size, no soap, hard crunchy towels...IF we got any. I had to go to the lobby to ask for the towels and coffee for the room as housekeeping kept "forgetting". Lack of any housekeeping consistency. the beds were hard and the worst... NO HOT WATER. While staff were nice...nobody cared about the hot water issue. when asked for a room discount i was told NO that i. must contact booking.com. so far no reply.
MUCHO RUIDO, CERO PRIVACIDAD
- Harleyman (3/5): The stay at the hotel was very unpleasurable. Will not stay there again - Good location The room was dirty, floors were filthy and the overall hotel was dirty and dusty. There was no coffee or tea in the room as advertised. The towels were crusty and smelled. The bathroom sink had a big crack in it. We paid for three breakfasts only had two because the two choices were terrible. You had no choice of what to eat only what they said was available.
- Dave (3/5): 1 OUT OF 5 - LOCATION IS THE ONLY GOOD THING I CAN SAY ABOUT THIS PLACE PLACE WAS DIRTY, THEY ONLY MOPPED BECAUSE WE ASKED, SUITE THAT WE BOOKED WITH KING BED, WAS SO HARDWE HAD TO MOVE ROOMS, TO TWO DOUBLE BEDS AND THEY MADE US PAY MORE MONEY, WOULD I STAY THERE AGAIN, NOT A CHANCE!
- Robert (2/5): - Heavy construction outside that I would have liked to know about. So much so that the entire front (and only entrance) was blocked for hours at a time, and you had to walk through the construction area where people are working. The power also went out for an entire afternoon that I usually use as a reprieve from the heat - no AC for that time! Last but not least a used bandaid in the shower to welcome us… next time tell people about the construction instead of a surprise terrible time.
- alan (8/5): Good - We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Most of the rooms appear to face internally so they are very dark however . Great central location . The internal spaces are a little tired looking though this could be due to roadworks outside creating a lot of dust. Roof terrace is a great spot for watching the sun set with a cold beer.
- James (10/5): Exceptional - Location was excellent. Room was quiet. Very nice. Highly recommend it. Make sure you have them open the library for you. It’s wonderful to see.
- Osvaldo (1/5): Bad -
- Hector (10/5): Muy. Bien - Muy buena atención
- Kevin (10/5): - Was a good room in a good location. Only bad thing was the construction being done on the front walls and street. Not the hotels faul. Will be great when it's done. Room for us was great and the roof top deck was awesome to have a beer and bottle of wine at night. Very quiet.
- Heidi (10/5): It was a beautiful hotel. Bed was totally comfortable and all the extra room in the ‘lobby’ areas with couches etc were - Great location and I loved the decor and uniqueness of the rooms The road work out front was not pleasant but that is a temporary thing so can be overlooked.
