Elaine (1/5): Attractive but remote property. Did not stay: pool unusable. - The property was attractive, but we were only there for half an hour. We had booked mainly because the property featured a large, central pool. We had planned a relaxing day by the pool before we started a Mekong River cruise. When we arrived at about 7:00 pm (fully dark), the pool had about 18 INCHES of water in it and was obviously unusable. The proprietor said she had emptied the pool because previous guests had defecated and vomited in the pool; she was adamant that the pool was "fine" for swimming and became verbally abusive when we disagreed on its suitability. She ordered us off the property. We made another booking (through Booking) at a riverside hotel in town: better location, lovely customer service, excellent food and a pool with water in it! Stay somewhere else.

Also the hot water was not working and there where used blocks of soap in the shower. It also looked like the owners where having an argument, they where really load.

Nice location if - Rooms where very clean We arrived and where told there was no food available in the day and a sparse breakfast. There suggestion was we rented a bike from them to into town. Additionally despite claiming to be a three star hotel they did not have basics like a hair drier.

Jörg (10/5): Super friendly and comfortable - Very clean and comfortable stay. The place is full of green, well looked after and has a huge swimming pool (25m). The owner is very friendly and looked after our well being all the time. On request you get a delicious dinner and breakfast. The hotel is a little outside of town but has a quick access to the Mekong boardwalk and from there it is a beautiful walk along the river. A must do!

Also handy for the freedom bridge for a trip across into Laos. - The Breakfast was cooked by Jam the owner an Meow her friend and assistant, nothing was too much trouble, what ever type of food you asked for Jam tried her best to provide it was always freshly cooked in front of you eyes, The Hotel wasn't over crowded and the pool was a lovely size and was lovely and clean as was the room, there was a supermarket at the end of the road and a lovely promenade to walk into town by the stunning Mekong River. also plenty of opportunity for excursions. Also John was there to have a friendly chat over a cool beer. We stayed for seven days and can honestly say if you are looking for a quiet relaxed holiday with amazing food and a lovely walk this is the place. Enjoyed every minute and was sad to leave. Thank you for helping to make many happy memories.

It's a beautiful hotel and pool as well. The room is also very nice and everything worked perfectly well. I was invited to drink with one of the staff. When the bill came I had to pay an extra 100 baht on top of the beer I got her. This was very disappointing because 1. They never told me that I would have to pay extra. 2. They made her flirt with me and insinuate that she had an interest despite the fact that they just wanted extra money. This is very bad, since it was at the bar of the hotel and I was a guest there. It's quite unethical and it kinda ruined the feeling I had about the otherwise very good hotel.

My bed pillow were very nice; not hard like typical beds in Thailand. Only negative was there were no staff available who spoke any English, possibly because it was Songkran?
Verified traveler (10/5): - The size of the saltwater pool...the view from our second floor balcony down to the pool, the huge breakfast ( and choices), the dinner choices of Thai food, the fab view from other side of our balcony of the Mekong River in the distance, the beautiful and comfortable 4 poster bed, most of all, the owners John amd Jamm who made our 3 night stay memorable...treated us like family, showed us around, invited me to market and to assist in making our dinner( i love to cook). We love to cycle and did find the onsite free bikes adequate to get to the main part of Chiang Khong but wanted more comfortable bikes so John not only contacted a bike rental in town, he brought us to the shop in his truck so that we could bring the bikes back in order to get biking in the morning( rental in town only 100baht each...equiv to $4.00 Canadian each for 24 hrs). Biked beyond their property into countryside, then to town and along the Mekong River. If ever back to Thailand, would absolutely stay with them again.

Kari (8/5): Great for the price we paid - We got a really good deal for a double room. Make sure to check several booking sites (Agoda, Expedia etc) as they often vary in price. The room was clean and in great condition. The pool area was really nice too. We paid for breakfast online and seemed to be the only ones who did. We got coffee, bread and eggs which was ok. They didn't seem to be ready for breakfast in the morning, perhaps because we were the only guests who ordered. The location was ok for us but I would recommend using their bikes or renting a scooter to get into town.
J C (10/5): Quiet, good quality hotel - Lovely hotel a little way out of town, in a quiet location, so very relaxing. Lovely pool area with pool towels & loungers provided. Evening meals very good, breakfasts were ok but could be a little better organised. All staff were very friendly & helpful. Well worth staying here en route to Laos as very handy for border crossing.

However, this lovely, peaceful resort hotel was perfect and we wouldn't hesitate to stay longer under different circumstances. John was an excellent host and the staff was friendly and provided very good service. The pool was refreshing, the beds comfortable and the food very tasty and reasonably priced.
John (10/5): Lovely people, lovely place - Great overnight stay on way to the slow boat to Luang prabang. Very congenial hosts, lovely pool and setting. Not much around but had a great night with the owner. Definite return for me if doing the same trip.
Paul D (10/5): Hospitable! - Peaceful, quiet hotel with good hosts and a nice pool. Hosts asked us what we wanted for breakfast and it was delicious! CK is a quiet town so more English language tv channels would be a bonus.
Louise (10/5): Great stay. - We spent 2 nights at Siam Tara resort. The room was great, and there is a nice pool. We had two basic breakfasts there, and good coffee was served. The owner provided great advice and arranged for a rental car for us. It’s a short Tuk Tuk into town. It was quiet at the hotel when we were there.
Scott (10/5): Clean, comfortable stay outside of town. - Located on the outskirts of town you will need your own transportation although they also rent motorbikes. The resort itself is well kept and immaculate, the owner's wife cooks spectacular Thai food on demand and there is a great salt water pool. Very quiet, good internet and the owner is a biker and quite knowledgeable about the area. A downright steal for the price, highly recommended
Scott (10/5): A real find in Chiang Khong - A very comfortable hotel outside of town but on the river. Beautiful salt water pool, largish rooms with soft beds and quality bed linens. Our first night there was a big group that was drunk and noisy but the second night was quiet and serene. The location is quiet and private, the hosts attentive and the wife cooks gourmet Thai cuisine on order, the place is worth trying for the food alone. An excellent value with Western style amenities.
kirk (10/5): Best hotel in Thailand the owner john is amazingl - Great view the food was excellent and john the owner was a wealth of knowledge in the area. Also big motorcycle fan so knew all the best road for touring. So I would make this a must stop for you big bike tours of Thailand.
