- Linda (5/5): It was okay. - The Bathroom was nice. The staff was great. For this to be a Crowne Plaza hotel, I was expecting a better experience. The window shades were tattered from wear. There is a body size terrace window in room with no shade, where if the wrong person opened the window they could fall out. There is no warning sign placed as a caution to patrons. The some of the lights didn't work in the room and it was very dark. As well at the bathroom tiles has some sort of scum or body fluid from the previous tenants that was not properly cleaned.

The lobby has a restaurant called Burgerology (which is a terrible and misleading name) BUT they serve much more than burgers and they have a cute bar too. no real complaints. If i must nitpick there is a door inside the lobby that is part of decor that looks kind of like an old worn out barn door. It seems misplaced and shabby. But that's me nitpicking.

Very clean and well located – – we walked to everything – – Broadway, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Central Park, the Highline, and so much more. But the very best part was the staff – – every single person was friendly, helpful, and lovely, from Ryan, who checked us in, serving us a welcome glass of champagne and giving us a holiday goodie bag, and a bottle of champagne and birthday welcome bag— he was cheerful and delightful; to Jose, who stored our luggage and not only called a taxi for us when it was time to head to the airport, but provided updates on when the taxi would arrive and walked us out to the taxi and put our luggage in it for us – – all the while engaging in friendly chat with us; and everyone in between: housekeepers, front desk personnel and others were all so lovely. Our room was cleaned every day and our housekeeper even left us a thank you note for the tip the first day. I wish I knew the names of all the staff who impressed us because we kept commenting on how cheerful and friendly every single person was. Every time we entered the lobby, whether we were coming or going, all the staff on duty would look up, make eye contact with us and greet us with a very cheerful and friendly “Good morning” “Have a great day” “Welcome back”, etc, regardless of what they were doing. Great walking distance from Madison Square Garden and Times Square. Smallish lobby but great service. Stayed on a high floor this last time and had a great view. Noise was not a problem for us as I guess we are used to visiting NYC and hearing honking and sirens from time to time but very comfortable rooms with good adminities.

- rosabN3431EV (10/5): Thank You Rosa! - My husband and I had such a great experience at Crowne Plaza HY36, and a huge part of that was thanks to Rosa at the front desk. My interaction with her started the day before I arrived when I had a mini panic over a change in my flight details. Rosa was incredibly calm and reassuring and made sure my room would be secured for the next day, which immediately put me at ease. I was happy to meet her in person at check-in, and she was just as wonderful. She has such a warm, positive energy and really listens. I mentioned that I’m sensitive to noise (I usually joke that I wouldn’t come to NYC if it wasn’t for work), and she went out of her way to place me on a quiet floor, far from the elevator. She even offered earplugs which was such a thoughtful touch and something I hadn’t experienced at other hotels when I mention my fear of noise. I saw her again the next day, and she gave us great breakfast recommendations. We tried Andrew’s and it was delicious. If everyone provided service like Rosa, I’d absolutely stay here again. She truly made the experience memorable.

Also on account of the price: I know it was December weekend but the facilities are definitely not worth the cost. Location is convenient: just two blocks from Penn Station (Yeah, right, when the elevator decides to work for once, it will be a miracle, but this has nothing to do with Crowne) and five blocks from Port Authority Station from where you can take the subway to Jamaica Station and the Air Train towards the airport. The neighbourhood smells weed, but that´basically every corner of NYC nowadays. The hotel´s bright picture bears little resemblance to its actual appearance of it. The door of the hotel is just the small one on the right and if something charcterizes the unimpressive lobby, with a noticeable lack of light and grandeur. It feels like a budget hotel. Check-in staff was very kind. A nice touch: welcome drink. Rooms are just OK. Again not enough light to work or to read. Sound proofing is really bad. Booked room was a Premium one: nothing in it looked like that. Again: just OK. Bathroom is comfortable and spacious. For a such expensive room we expected more. Breakfast included was not buffett and there were few healthy options: the croissant was a let down and the "fruit plate" was just the standard mix iof green and orange melon. Nothing special. Not even the coffee nor the staff.I find the information about breakfast misleading: offering a Breakfast included option, one expects buffett breakfast. I´d only give it a second chance if the price became reasonable. At what they are charging now, I´d look elsewhere. I do not understand the reasons for which it has so great reviews.

They also have probably the best hotel pillows I have ever slept on! Housekeeping came to our room every day, which I feel is a lost luxury since 2020. Andrew was so friendly and accommodating from the time we arrived with 10 suitcases, all the way to my aunt falling ill the night before we left. He went above and beyond to make sure she had what she needed to have a restful night’s sleep. We are already planning our next trip and can’t wait to stay here again!

Check in was smooth and friendly and the front desk staff were always welcoming and happy to help with any requests. Breakfast each day in Burgerology was fantastic and way superior to normal hotel buffets. Special mention to Eddie and his team in Burgerology for being so attentive. Hotel location is excellent and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I definitely recommend this hotel and look forward to returning sometime soon.

Walking distance to the main attractions without being in the thick of it. The hotel looks lovely to look at and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The restaurant was equally very lovely. Main complaint would be the room that we were allocated which was directly opposite the lift meaning we didn't have a single nights sleep without disturbance from the other guests getting in and out of the lift. The other rooms were not very well sound proofed and we could hear our neighbours on both sides. We were asked for feedback during the stay from the staff via text message who were very responsive and offered ear plugs in the interim and a move on our final night when there was availability. Appreciate this was not the fault of the staff and they couldn't do enough however this was a downfall of the hotel. The rooms were nicely kept and well looked after.

The hotel was spotlessly clean; the room (two double beds) was a good size for New York and had everything we needed (hairdryer, safe, coffee machine, full length mirrors) with the most comfortable beds and lots of pillows; just what you needed after a long day walking around the city. Close enough to everything, including Penn Station, this allows you to explore the city on foot or via the subway. Easy to walk to Hudson yards, The highline and Chelsea Market or Times Square, Broadway, Grand Central. We had a super room, spotlessly clean and spacious double double. We were in a higher room and the end of a corridor which afforded us peace and quiet. The beds were super comfy and the bathroom was clean with a super shower, plenty of towels and hair dryer. The room had a fridge and coffee machine. These are a real bonus if you are travelling from abroad and have to adjust to the time difference. If you wake early you can make a hot drink. Make sure you grab milk and breakfast pastries or yogurts the night before! The staff at this hotel were amazing. As it was my friends 60th birthday they upgraded our room as described above and gifted her a bottle of Champagne too. Special thanks go to Gurmey, Rey and José, they made us so welcome and gave us some fabulous tips and advice. Nothing was too much trouble. This ensured my friend had a great birthday trip. This was my 5th trip to New York, I love this city and usually stay in the Soho area, however the location of this hotel and the staff have encouraged me to stay at this hotel. I would love to visit in the Festive season next time and this will be my go to hotel.

Jessica was very friendly and welcoming when we checked in and was always happy to help us with any queries about the hotel or the city throughout our stay. Very special mention to Kenny as well, who was one of our favourite people we met on our holiday. The check in process was quick and simple and we was on our way to our room. The room itself was clean and modern and jad everything we needed. Plenty of toiletries, hairdryer, safe, TV when we needed to chill after countless steps round NYC and even an iron and ironing board. The housekeeping staff tended to our room everyday and did a great job. The hotel has an amazing bar and restaurant. Out teenage boys loved trying the different burgers which were all delicious and the service was excellent. Nothing was too much. Not if but when we return to New York we will definitely stay here again. A massive thank you to Andrew who arranged our transfer back to JFK and was there to help us with our luggage and ensured everything ran smoothly.

The person who checked me in, Gurmey, was very friendly and efficient, and I was able to get to my room and relax in no time. It was a great experience!

Stayed here when celebrating our daughter’s 21st birthday and nice touch to receive a bottle of complimentary champagne on arrival. Room was clean and comfortable with all we needed. All the staff were very friendly in particular Rey, Jess and Lydia.

- FyldeFord (10/5): A great stay thank you! - Just recently completed my 3rd fantastic stay at the hotel. A big thank you to Ashley Schultz and team for looking after me again! The staff at the hotel are so welcoming, not just on check in, but every time to you return to the building. Nothing is too much trouble and they are always happy to help in anyway. What I also love about this hotel is that it is one of the quietest I've stayed in the city - and I've stayed in many. The rooms are spacious and very clean with good amenities and the beds extremely comfortable. All allowing me to get a really good nights sleep when I need it for busy work days after lots of travel. I also welcome the restaurant in the lobby serving breakfast and food all day, including room service and a bar for drinks. Staff are friendly and efficient with a really good selection on the breakfast menu. A facility not to be taken for granted in NY city when many hotels today don't provide dining facilities or even a bar service. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for leisure or business. It's in a great location not too far from the major midtown sights but on the doorstop also to Hudson yards and the highline. I hope to be back again very soon

I am ALWAYS impressed with the kindness, care, and impeccable service I receive during each visit. It's truly one of my favorite hotels in the country and it's the staff who make it such a great place to stay. Ryan, Gurmey, Rey, and Jose were so wonderful everytime I needed something or even just when they were greeting me as I came back in the evenings, I could tell how much they cared about their positions. I wasn't able to grab names but I also want to give a special shout out to the facilities team and everyone cleaning the rooms! Without you a hotel literally can't run and it's truly one of the cleanest and most inviting hotels I've ever stayed in. Thank you for all you do!

- P2788GWmichelleh (10/5): STAY HERE - This is my third time staying at HY 36 and have loved it every time AND it gets better! The staff, the rooms, the location, I travel solo and feel save here as well! I the only thing I wish the rooms had a microwave (I eat leftovers). There is even a restaurant attached just in case you don’t want to go out to eat. I would stay here again and again!! A special thanks to Ashley for helping with my reservations and just being so kind, helpful AND quick responses to my emails!!! THE BEST!

Big shoutout to Gurmey and Edris at the front desk — they were super friendly, helpful, and made check-in a breeze. The room was great and the location’s perfect. We arrived late in the evening at the hotel, we were greeted with a warm welcome and this continued throughout our stay! Andrew amongst many on the Staff team couldn’t be more helpful! Housekeeping was great too! The hotel serves a fabulous breakfast and the location is fantastic! I would recommend the Crowne Plaza and I will certainly think of staying again at the hotel when we next return. Thank you to all of the staff who made our family trip such a special one!
- JHPSurrey (6/5): Great hotel, resort fee not explained - To be fair this hotel is in a great location (5 minutes from the ACE subway lines, 15 minutes walk to The Empire State, 20 minutes to Times Square. )There’s a good food market nearby for coffee and food and loads of restaurants nearby. The hotel has a modern feel, although the air conditioning is very noisy. Room size reasonable for a city hotel, beds comfortable, bathrooms nice, kept clean by daily servicing. We had a view of The Edge from our room, the other room viewed the street but we don’t worry about a view as we see them when we wander the city. Lifts are speedy so very little wait time from the 18th floor. Staff are friendly and acknowledged us ever time we came and went. So why only 3 stars? I get annoyed when only 3 large towels are left for 2 people. Come on, please leave 4. Used the make up remover sachet on the first night and never replaced. There’s a coffee machine, but had to ask for coffee as only tea pods supplied. Poor that I had to constantly leave a note for more coffee (stayed 7 nights). But my biggest grumble is about the resort fee. We had 2 rooms and had to pay for both. And I was aware this might be a charge BUT it was not explained to us at check in, just $500/room reserved on our card, I then assumed that as nothing was said that it had been included with our package deal. Told s out the charge when we checked out. So what did the resort fee give us? Nothing that I’m aware of, I expect wi-Fi as standard. We weren’t directed about the gym (found out about it when the lift stopped at the floor one time), weren’t told about the games area (found it by chance on our last day). A shame this let the hotel down. I was going to give 4 stars and I’m still likely to stay here again, but everything needs to be great to get 5 stars so train the reception staff to mention the resort fee, offer something for it and leave coffee!
- Taps89 (8/5): Would stay here again - It was clean. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Great location, close to subway and other hotspots. Off the busy main road which is great. Didn't like that when we arrived there was no one to help us with luggages. We had to drag luggages into the hotel ourselves, load them onto the trolley and take it up to our room. At checkout someone did take our luggages down but just left them in the lobby. We had to drag all 8 peices out ourselves and load them into the taxi. But none of this will stop me staying again. The cleaners need to pay a bit more attention, I found a previous guests old tshirt under the bedside table. The cleaners also left their cleaning cloths in my room on my things after one cleaning session. Despite all thisbI would stay here again, these were minor issues.
