Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (4/5): Reconsider - The place has a little potential, but there are too many factors bringing it down. The bridge over the river leading there is shaky and dangerous. I had to carry my dog across every time for fear of her falling off/through. Owner did not know I’d even booked, so my room wasn’t ready. The place looked better in pictures. Doors falling off. Dusty. No hot water in the tub. Dirty refridgerator. The owner/manager was rude. Yelled at me for walking my dog in the morning to go to the toilet, because her “big dog” was out walking around and, I guess, took precedence during that time. It has “pet-friendly” as one of their selling points, but it IS NOT. If you’re on your own and just doing a quick night stay through the city, this may be the place for you. But if you want to enjoy a vacation in a comfortable room/facility, with or without a pet, stay somewhere else along the river or in Pai.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This property has not a good place to stay. The hot water didn't not work. The bathroom smelled very bad, the shower had spiders. The road leading to the entrance is a very dusty dirt road. The property tends to be a loud party place.
- Ronfaygler (8/5): אחלה מקום - The hostel is in a beautiful and calm
place by the lake. The owner is adorable. I slept in a nice double room, with bathroom and shower in a good condition. The room was really clean. I highly recommend this hostel for the people who want to enjoy the quiet.
- Mochillero13 (10/5): The Best of All Worlds - I have stayed here many times. Lin is a gem, so nice and helpful. The location is amazing, peaceful on the Pai River, rice fields out back, yet just an easy five minute stroll to the Walking Street. Every kind of accommodation from 100 baht crash hut to spacious modern bungalows with A/C, refrigerator and TV and in between fan bungalows. Everyone can stay here. I have a few places in the world which are home away from home. This is one if them.
- mayashay (2/5): Terrible - We had a terrible experience at this hostel. First of all the location isnt very convinient about 15 mins walk from the night market , you have to pass a dark alley with no
Lights and a wobbly bridge. Second of all its way over priced. The rooms are not clean or renovated in any way, and the price is about twice more then any guesthouse in pai which looks exactly the same. The staff is rude they barley supply toilet paper. The biggest issue of the place is the manager, we arrived and she immediately sold us the most expensive room, we agreed she said it was 850 per night and that we could pay when checking out. When we arrived to check out suddenly the price was 1000 per night,we politely told her thats not the price she had given us. She immediately started screaming and trying to hit us and throwing things. Anyways very unpleasant, don’t recommend.
- Allicat2014 (10/5): We really enjoyed the tranquility of Pai park - We really enjoyed the tranquility of Pai park. Very cute to walk across the bridge to get there. "this is the best" my 8yr old proclaimed.. a cool adventure. We stayed in a bungalow...this was clean with a huge bathroom attached.
Thankyou "Yo" for your hospitality!
- Alain (4/5): Looks good from the outside - Owners didn't know we had booked
Room was dirty, bathroom too and linen was suspect
Doors and windows didn't close or open properly
The dogs liked our veranda a bit too much
- didipoka (2/5): Israeli park - I wanted to stay for many days but checked out after the first night! The location is enough far from the towns noises, the accommodation is cheap.. I was away all day and came back in the evening: there was a lot of noise, people playing music, talking/screaming loud and talking loud on phone behind my hut.. I didn't know what to do,cause found out that all of them were Israelis and had fun in their way, so I was in the "minority" and decided to move out in early morning. And I'm not a party beaker, but this was far too much and disrespectful for my taste.. they were really loud till 4am! The owner was sorry in the morning, but didn't do anything about it, cause the noise was going on all the other nights as well, so I was glad to have moved out! Apart from this, the bed was really hard, there was no shade on my hut - really hot inside and there were dead ants coming out from my shower! If you like to sleep just don't check in here!
- Jeffrey (8/5): Fantastic location - Pai Park Cottage is located in a quiet location away from the party areas. However it is just a 3 minute walk to the Main Street (walking street). The bungalow was very nice, huge bathroom which was half finished but still nice. I would stay again. One down side was the internet was spotty.
- Dreamer610545 (2/5): I moved - I wasn't crazy about the location.. It is like the last stop on the train .. I stayed two night and paid 400 BHT a night for and no light, bed was the worst ever, no hot water, kitchen was gross, room was extremely bare and basic, the owner was very sweet and understanding.. I moved closer to the Main Street and got a much better place for 350 BHT a night. I can't imagine what the cheaper rooms are like.
- sejhmet (8/5): Enjoyed my time there - I loved my stay on here. Really affordable the bungalows in front of the river and even if you want to go cheaper you have tents in the garden.Really kind staff and it's really peaceful. I love the bridge to come and go back and forth the hotel haha!
- Daniwilmot (8/5): Beautiful place to stay, luxury for cheap! - After staying in a bit of a dive in Pai we were looking for a comfortable nights sleep somewhere and we came across Pai Park. We got a really good deal on a private hut for 3 people with a huge en suite, the room also had these lovely four poster single beds with mozzie nets you could pull over you. The beds were quite hard but were totally fine for their purpose. The one let down, is that the hot shower had broken by morning so we could only have cold showers but I have found this a common thing travelling around Thailand! We had our own private deck which was great and only a short walk from the town over the bamboo bridge. Would definitely stay here again although they book up fast so I would recommend booking online if you can.
- KerrCassandra (10/5): A Cute and Beautiful Place to Stay - I absolutely loved my stay at Pai Park. We stayed in the nicer bungalows and it was only 600 baht per night, for a clean and modern bungalow with air con, a fridge, and a really nice private bathroom with hot showers and a tub! The family that owned Pai Park was so nice and accommodating. We were three people travelling so they put an extra single mattress in our bungalow with only a double bed for the same price. The bungalows are very cute, comfortable, and in a beautiful area with amazing views of the mountains and a big garden. The location is great, because it is in a private nature area, but is also only a 5 minute walk to the town. I would highly recommend, and stay here again whenever I come back to Pai.
- Ashhleeylol (10/5): Perfect location & room - Pai park cottages are beautiful! I would say one of the nicest places I've stayed in the past 10 weeks of travelling SEA. We stayed in the new bungalows (600 baht per night), and the rooms are awesome. The ac works perfectly, the beds are sooo comfortable, and they provide bug nets! The shower is also glorious. Clean & hot!
The owners are awesome too, very friendly!
The location is also perfect. Not right in the middle of town, but about a 5 minute walk. It feels very nature-y, but it's still very close to everything.
- ALcrew (10/5): Planned to stay 2 nights, 2 weeks later - What can I say. Yo and Ying, the sisters that run Pai Park, are great! Not to mention their mother is an amazing cook. No thrills bungalows and basic bathrooms, but I was only in my room to sleep. Pai is a lot of fun and the sisters gave me good advice on where to go and what to see. Far enough from town to enjoy nature, but close enough to walk to get a quick bite to eat. The gazebo with hammocks was a nice place to chat with other travelers and swap stories. I will definitely comeback to Pai Park when I visit Thailand again. Thank guys.
- tomptaksphotos (10/5): Best value bungalow in Thailand, friendly staff. - We stayed in Pai Park Cottages and it was one the best experiences staying anywhere on my 15 years of traveling. Having checked at least 10 different places on the other side of the river, most were either booked, or plain awful, I finally found Pai Park Cottages. The owner named Yo, was possibly the most polite and helpful person I have met anywhere, certainly in Thailand. She let us use her cell phone to extend our motorbike hire in Chiang Mai, boiled water for us, provided us with anything we needed and always made it feel like it was not a problem. We stayed in a small bungalow for the first night, nothing special but for 200 baht is was fine, what do you expect for 200 baht? However, we then moved into one of the luxury bungalows. Best value room I stayed in Thailand by far. Huge four post bed, a bathtub, massive deck to look over the river, this bungalow was truly awesome. Thoroughly recommend this place, its a 5 minute was to town at most, and if you can't handle the occasional gecko in your room-which the resort owners have absolutely no control over-then you shouldn't be traveling in Thailand.
- Sheenzoff (2/5): NOT for the faint-hearted - if you can sleep with geckos and strange vibrating,
squeaking and scratching, gaps at the doors and a somewhat open toilet, go ahead and book a stay at pai park.
not for the faint-hearted. details as follow:
upon checking in and entering the room, a big gecko fell in front of my fiance. that was the beginning of the most unwilling 3 nights for me.
i freaked out the first night from WEIRD vibrating, scratching, crawling, sloshing sounds beside my head, on the other side of the rattan wall.
i did not investigate the source in my 3 nights here, not knowing was better.
the 2nd night, the geckos (we assumed) had catching games and ran on the rattan roof ALL NIGHT!
on the 3rd night, the squeaking got really loud and we decided it may be rats after all (which seemed better to me) and these animals decided to throw us a goodbye party by doing what they had done on night1 and night2 at the same time.
facilities:
NO hot water even on a 13•C night!!!!!
and an OPEN TOILET where COLD AIR STREAMS IN and GECKOS PEEP!
manual flushing!
no steady water flow frm tap!
water forever leaking. impossible to turn it off.
fan was provided but not needed since it was so cold.
on a personal note:
after night #1, i knew i had to change the room or the hotel. fortunately, they were building new rooms and 1 was almost ready! the lady said we could move over if it was ready at night or the next morning, so that made me really glad. HOWEVER, when we came back that night, the room was OCCUPIED because the lady did not tell her colleague about it and it was rented out. utter disappointment at the management here. so it was back to crappy room since everywhere else was full.
at SGD30 per night, spend a little more, get a better night's sleep.
- w00d0 (6/5): Great air conditioner, but poor fan room - We booked 4 fan rooms but the rooms were full of strange old smell. So we had to change to 02 fan rooms and one air room (50 bath extra). The garden was not well-cared.
The location is a little far from downtown, and it's next to a noisy bar. So this place is not for kids and those who fear of darkness. However, the air rooms were good and modern and clean. The bamboo bridge was also pretty.
- HaveAGreatHol (4/5): Great view & position, not so great cottage! - We stayed in some of the cheaper cottages down the far end. The view of the river and position to town was awesome. The cottage itself was pretty grotty and there were many, many mosquitos. Wifi worked only over to the reception area.
- RichandAnjaH (8/5): Really liked it - We stayed for three nights in the slightly more expensive bungalows at Pai Park Cottage, costing 400 TBH per night which was really good value (chose not to have A/C just fan which was fine).
The place is less than 5 minutes walk from the walking street but it's nice and quiet. You cross their very own adventurous bamboo bridge to the other side of the river. The staff are really friendly and made us feel welcome from the start. We loved our spacious, well-appointed and nicely furnished cottage. The bed was super-comfy and the sunken bathroom had big windows (facing a big wall so no worries about people looking in). We were sad to leave as we felt totally at home in our bungalow. The veranda was spacious and secluded and great for watching sunsets.
The only negatives were that it was hard to regulate the shower temperature and the windows in the bathroom could have been a lot cleaner to add to the 'outsidey' feel.
Either way, we'd definitely stay again. Would give it 4 and a half points.
- bunnydarke (8/5): A nice quiet place to stay - My husband and I had 4 nights here and it was a good stay. We wanted somewhere quiet and comfortable and that's what we got. Our little bungalow was really sweet, with a very comfy bed and attractive furnishings. We had a fan room and that was just cool enough without a/c. There was a fridge and a TV (only Thai channels though so we didn't use it). The bungalow also had a nice little veranda. The location was perfect; close enough to town to walk in very easily but far enough away so you didn't get any noise. It's close to the river, so we put up our mosquito net and that worked fine.
The only problem with the room was the bath/shower: the shower had no pressure and you could only use the hot and cold water independently (i.e. no mixing). Then when I ran a bath as an alternative the water was dirty!
Otherwise, this was a lovely place to stay, so I'm still giving it 4/5.
- ShivandZackie (10/5): PERFECT ! - This place is perfect!
It has rooms from as little as £2 per night and up to £10 per night.
The luxury bungalows are incredible & have a bath tub!
The views are excellent and its a beautiful place to see sunset. Its on the river so great for an early morning swim & a big old campfire for the cooler evenings :)
Theres a BBQ and a kitchen with all the cooking facilities you need.
Its 2 mins to walking street so ideal location.
Theres a pagoda with hammocks for lazy afternoons also. But if you are into a health kick theres a Muay Thai training school in the grounds!
the family that run Pai Park are fantastic people. I would recommend this for ANYONE who is coming to stay in Pai :)

- Jaack86 (10/5): Excellent value cottage - With aircon, a fridge, tv and bath and shower this cottage at only 400B was a bargain split between 3. There was wifi but it was only useable closer to the 'bar' area. The rickety old bamboo bridge was fun for me but probably wouldn't be much good for a child. There were also a lot of dogs that congregated on our porch but these didn't bother me.
- tfuzi (8/5): Well located. Just a short walk to town - When I arrived my initial impression was that the resort was well located. A good choice of accommodation, to suit all budgets. And a very short walk to where everything is.
You have to cross a very rickety bamboo bridge, that sways somewhat when you're half way across.
The bungalow that I had came with A/C, a bathroom, fridge and a TV. Although no point in watching the TV no English speaking channels (out of 300 to choose from)
My only gripe really would be that the doors to the bungalow did not close properly so it allowed all the mosquitoes in, and as this is right by the river, it is a problem. The shower in the bathroom did not work properly, the floor got very very wet, and stayed like that for pretty much the whole day.
I would recommended Pai Park, but it is quite pricey.
