Guest Reviews
- Robert (6/5): - Water supply packed it in last night of stay couldn’t shower flush toilet do dishes etc
- Shamus (8/5): - We were here 10 years ago and it was the best farm stay we experienced. However, 10 years later, the spark that made it special is missing. The owners have changed and it is now run by part timers. They were friendly and polite, but it's very different from owners whose passion and pride in the property was once apparent. The cottages are not as clean and the farm experiences were lacking the personal touch of passionate owners. Still, a very relaxing experience.
- Kerry (10/5): - This is a special property. the kids just adore the space and abundant ways to be kids (Animals and feedings/ zipline/ finding wood/ trying to catch marron and so on). its a beautiful location and the town has everything you need for a regional break!
Units have everything you need to self cater and with the fireplaces .. winter is just as wonderful.
- Anthony (10/5): - i had very relaxing time there just what i needed
will go there again cheers
- Cassandra (10/5): - This is our second time back in 3 months. We love it, the kids love it and we will be back again soon hopefully! Beautiful animals, lovely workers and the owner was so kind to look after my son's watch that he had forgotten the first trip and bring it to us on the second.
- Gheorghe (10/5): - Clean and quiet
- Paul (10/5): - This is our second stay at Pump Hill. Great spot. Peaceful. No wi-fi which is perfect when you want to relax and get “off-grid”.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Rustic. - Awesome service by Gwen. Be sure to let her know if you need heating in the room. Location is rustic and authentic back to nature farm stay. Enjoy your forest bathing and get away from city living 🙂
- James (2/5): - No sighting of office staff at anytime.
Had to visit supermarket to buy fire starter as the unit supplied would not work.
Heating of unit very poor - not enough timber for one night.
Unable to heat bedroom so slept in the lounge.
We had an excellent stay here a few years ago
But now looks very run down and needing an upgrade.
Booked for 3 nights but so cold that we left after first night.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very run down cottage desperately in need of repairs, especially in the bathroom. BBQ gas bottle ran out of gas halfway through cooking. There was no evidence of cottage being cleaned and dusted before our arrival.
Laundry on site was extremely dirty and untidy.
Even though stated in the cottage manual there was tv reception, we found this not to be the case.
- Lisa (10/5): - Beautiful property loved the outdoor fire pit and being able to interact with the animals great for families
- Julian (10/5): - I liked the rural setting, the piece & isolation even though 5 minutes from town, the log fire, cozy lounges, the cooking facilities to self-cater, strong hot running water, plenty of farm animal life to calm you down, the bird life. just a lovely peaceful retreat.
We were there in a cool springtime but noticed that it's not air conditioned so not sure how cool it will be in the heat of summer, also I wanted to sit outside on the verandah when it rained to watch the birdlife & animals flitting around in it but without gutters on the verandah roof you got splashed with muddy water from the runoff.
No option was given for the second room to have a full-size bed for our friends, so we had to coin toss who got the best room.
- Graham (10/5): - Amazing!
- Ralf (10/5): - Very much enjoyed our stay in a cosy cottage. Will definitely be back!
- Ian (10/5): - Lovely environment and simple but adequate accomodation
- Alison (10/5): - A lovely place to bring the kids for some fun with lots of farm animals to feed and cuddle. The farm staff were lovely. Pemberton town is just down the road with lots to explore.
- ANTONIO (10/5): - Beautiful Property, very relaxing! Will be back in Winter to enjoy the pot belly stove and winter scenery!!
- Syed Sajid (10/5): - Quiet, calm and surrounded by pet animals. Two peacock used to come every morning.
It was hot but there was no fan or table fan. It woukd be better to keep at least one table fan.
- Sarah (10/5): - This is an amazing place for families and children especially. A true farm stay where the children are included in everything. Our boys had a wonderful time and Pumphill definitely goes on the list of places we will return to again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful property. Stunning surrounds and friendly animal's. Comfortable cottages. The kids didnt want to leave! Will definitely be back
- Ann Marie (10/5): - Lovely break away on the farm, Farmer Mark was just lovely, even although it was raining he did the tractor run with kids & adults, gets the kids involved in feeding the animals. Bonus was they got free eggs from the chickens at the end.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect for animal lovers!! - There are so many creatures that are all clearly loved and well looked after. They're used to visitors so they're all very friendly. We had a forest view cottage so it faces the horse/cow enclosure so we had a beautiful view and the horses right up to the fence for apples (free fruit/veg kindly on offer at reception for those who want to feed the animals). The cottage itself was rustic and comfortable enough, with a useful kitchen. A couple of tech issues with the TV not working and no wifi at the cottages but the log fire made up for that. It has a lovely country feel but so close to town. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend for families!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful place to stay and relaxing
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Happy with the stay and kids were really enjoy the farm. Excellence service from the owner.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really relaxing. Would definitely recommend Pump Hill Farm Cottages and we will be going back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We found this stay, Tranquil , relaxing and peaceful with great scenery
- Alice (10/5): - Loved it!!! Great for the kids. Views are amazing.
- Hannah (10/5): - Excellent location beautiful clean cottages great playground for the kids. Farmer Leon was so helpful and friendly
- Sylvie (10/5): Great farm stay - Lovely place. The animals are well looked after and the whole place is really nice.
- Simon (10/5): - It was a perfect week end with us being made very welcome.
- Peter (8/5): A very pleasant spot to stay - We had a really enjoyable mid week break at Pump Hill. This was our first ever farm stay and we thoroughly enjoyed it; we found having farm animals around to be very calming and therapeutic. Accommodation is basic, but clean and functional and suited us to a tee. Very good value for money. The rammed earth construction meant that the cottage stayed cool during the day - although the weather was in general nice and cool during our stay. There are two groups of cottages, one group facing the animal paddock and one looking out across a valley (we would request one of these next time, mainly for the better view). Our visit focussed on exploring the forest area and riding the trails and tracks on Mountain Bikes. The location of the cottages is perfect for Mountain Biking, you ride out of the farm gate, cross the tar road and your are immediately at the top of Mountain Bike park trails. Can't do better than that! Also its a great location for kids in that you are surrounded by the animals and can have lots of interaction with them - ducks waddling across the verandah; donkeys, a couple of horses, alpacas's a goat, a few cattle etc. etc. A brilliant spot for a family weekend. Don't forget your fly nets and repellant - you are on a farm after all. If you want to chill out, there's nothing better than to sit on the verandah, look at the view and watch the native birdlife - fairy wrens, thornbills and rosella's to name a few. Would definitely reccommend this to friends.
- Laura (10/5): - What an amazingly peaceful welcoming place. We were made to feel so welcome, nothing was too much trouble, best place for families with small children. Beautiful views, close to shops, excellent facilities. Just need a few more kitchen items to make it perfect.
- Tor (10/5): - The kids loved the animal who were all very friendly and the tractor ride. The scenery is beautiful and the staff were so lovely. Very relaxing, we thoroughly enjoy it. We will stay longer next time.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved all the animals they were friendly and the kids had a ball.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pump Hill Stay - Great to take our daughter to experience accomodation that includes interaction with farm animals. Fire barrier was broken and unsafe for a toddler (meant we had to watch her closer than normal). Rubbish bin wasn't emptied from prior guest.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We took our 20 month old son away for the first time to stay there. He loved all the animals. The morning hay ride to feed them all with farmer Mark who was very knowledgeable and informative was great too
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The location was fabulous...and perfect for a get-away with a three year old!! The trailer 'hay ride' was a standout activity and the animals were all so well looked after.
Mark was the perfect host...love the changes that he's made to the property (ie upgraded bedding and curtains) since we were there eighteen months ago and he has a fabulous vision for the future of the property!!
See you again soon,
Mark!!
Christine
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The location and farm animals are great. Unfortunately cleanliness is a bit of a let down. Cobwebs in the raked ceilings. Dried blood on my doona. Sadly the firewood was damp so lighting it was difficult. Lots of little things that can be improved to make the experience a bit more comfortable. Has lots of potential. I like that there is a washer and dryer
- JohnG (6/5): - The cottages are quite charming in a rustic kind of way but bear no resemblance to the publicity photo. A bit over priced in my view except that the log fire made the stay very worth while.
- Christopher (8/5): - Only thing wrong with the trip was the booking wasn't sent through by hotels.com. And they weren't expecting us. But was sorted in minutes. So all good
- Y (8/5): - Stayed at Pump Hill with our 2yo in August 2017. We had a great time! The tractor rides each morning (even in the rain) were exciting and toddler loved seeing the animals, feeding them, throwing hay out of the trailer, and collecting chicken eggs. There was heaps of firewood available for toddler to help collect, chop, and bring inside. The fireplace was great in winter, although we didn't really need it, the cottage was quite cosy anyway. We requested a fireplace barrier which was there on arrival for us - a big playpen, big enough to keep toddler far away from the hot fire. Plentiful warm blankets. Nice neat clean cottage with all cooking utensils, applicances etc. Beautiful location, great scenery, lots to do around town - wineries, tram ride. For older kids the mountain bike tracks look amazing. We will definitely be back!
- Sarah (8/5): Wonderful experience & lovely accommodation - We loved our stay here - I think it would suit both a romantic getaway for two or a family escape. The animals are gorgeous and very friendly. The kids enjoyed collecting the eggs and I fell in love with the pigs! The accommodation is very comfortable and clean. The cottages are very well built and well furnished - everything has been thought of. I loved that you got to roam the farm - I would thoroughly recommend this place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great to be able to start up a fire at our very own fireplace in our cottage to keep us warm and cosy. Children were able to get free access to most of the farm animals anytime.
- hengjk (10/5): Nice hotel - Good hotel in terms of location, facilities as well as service. Value for the price
- Suzanne M (10/5): Pump Hill Farm Stay - We went with our 4 year old and she had the time of her life. The cottage was quaint and comfortable and had everything we needed but the best part was being on the farm and the interaction with the animals. The morning hay ride is not to be missed and is fun for all ages, I would recommend it whether you have children or not. My daughter screamed with delight on opening the curtains on the first morning (we had a late arrival) and seeing the animals right outside our cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed the local sites, visiting the Gloucester Tree, Cascades, Big Brook Dam, Beedelup Falls and Pemberton town (which is less than 5 mins drive away from the farm).
Overall a great stay and we will be visiting again.
- Fleur (10/5): - As soon as we drove up the driveway and were greeted by all the animals we were taken a aback by how beautiful it was, the views are gorgeous and idyllic, the cottage was really comfortable and had everything we needed. Close and pleasant walk to town also, highly recommend!
- Sharyn (10/5): A cosy cottage in tranquility - It was nice to get back to the South West, which was made better by the place I had chosen to stay. Pump Hill Cottages are not far from Pemberton town, easy to access and exquisite little cottages. It was lovely to wake to the sounds of the nearby horses and donkeys, to see the ducks and chickens on our way in and out of the property. The cottages are nicely spaced so you are not staying in someone else's pocket. We had a two bedroom cottage, me and a friend, which afforded us a place to socialise with the kitchen/dining/sitting area and private bedrooms where required. The beds were cosy and the whole cottages were clean and tidy.
If you are looking for somewhere to stay, go no further. Thanks for the great place to reminisce in my past
- Julie K (6/5): basic chalet in beautiful setting - stayed in 'Forest' cottage which was the oldest building on the property which rather showed. However the views over the surrounding farmland were beautiful and we enjoyed meeting the friendly farm animals. The wood stove was also a bonus on a chilly spring evening (especially when the power went out for several hours one evening!)
- Wei Liang (10/5): Beautiful cottage house - This is an excellent farmstay location for family with kids. Highly recommended! Horses roam at your backyard, and you have visitors of ducks, chickens, turkeys coming to your garden. Stayed for 2 nights and my kids love the feeding session in the morning. It's from 8.30am to around 10+am. You get to collect chicken/duck eggs too!
The cottage is spacious and as we arrived on a chilly evening, there was a fireplace nicely set up. Unfortunately it was my first time lighting up a fireplace (as I'm from a tropical country), and actually set off the smoke detector! Despite the late night, our friendly "farmer" came by within 5 mins to help resolve the beeping sound.
It is a short drive to the town centre where you can find cafes and basic necessities, although you will need to go preferably before 5pm as most of the stores close by then. You can still find 3-4 places to dine in the area after 5pm.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cosy farm cottage with fireplace - We had a lovely stay and the cottage was very comfortable. The fireplace added that little extra and was most enjoyable. The cottage was very private and the wild birds as well as all the farm animals made for a very enjoyable stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Brilliant farm stay - Beautiful rammed earth cottage with postcard views through the valley.
Start the morning with the hay ride and Farmer Mark to impart his humour and wisdom - hand feed cows, goats, donkeys and ducks.
Just out of town but with so many attractions close by.
We will definitely be back again and again.
- Ni (10/5): Excellent, kid friendly experience - Log fire, hay ride, friendly animals you can feed and pat, collect eggs, close to town, limited wifi (excellent!) and beautiful surroundings..... Even in the rain we had a great time! My kids (9 & 11) were in heaven! Set up for smaller kids too.... An excellent farm stay!
- Agnes (8/5): Comfortable stay - Some hiccups over the check in date but resolved quickly. Nice and comfortable farm stay. Will be great if there is 2 bathrooms since we have 4A2C. Setting up the fireplace is a challenge though there is information how to. Amazing view of stars at night!
