- Jochen Bossert (10/5): - Ruhige Lage - schön gelegen. Wir waren im Bungalow... einfach eingerichtet aber sehr sauber. Lea war eine tolle Gastgeberin. Die Wanderung im Naturschutzgebiet der Farm war sensationell. Wir sahen Zebras, einmal an der Futterstelle, das andere mal auf dem Weg zurück zur Farm. Die Anfahrt ist kein Problem. Fazit.... zwei tolle Tage, der Abstecher hat sich gelohnt. Immer wieder gerne!

The house is beautifully renovated and very comfortable. 2 fridges and very equipped kitchen. The outside area with braai and pool was so lovely for lunch and dinner. All the finishing touches made the experience to the comfortabel beds, cotton bedding, soft pillows, amazing lounge couches, loungers by the pool, dinning tables big enough for the whole family inside and by the braai and all beautifully decorated. The kitchen was incredible, stunning finishing touches, extremely well equipped, it really is plug and play. The house has fans for each room to help out on hot summer nights and days, as well as an indoor fire place for a cozy winter stay. The hosts provided lots of insect repellent, including cooking nets and spinners to keep flies off your food, again, really thought out and intended for the most comfortable stay. The hosts were incredible, we had a few requests which they were more than happy to accommodate without complaint and gave us a tour of the farm. All cottages are newly renovated and you can really feel the love put into them.

- Charles (10/5): Farmhouse bliss and so good for your soul. Comfy and serene. - The pictures doesn't do this place justice. It is so gorgeous! And a great location. The farm is beautiful and so quiet. I stayed for a week, and parked my car and only got back in when I left. But there is plenty to do in the area if you want. Long walking trails in the beautiful reserve area is a must. Lea is a wonderful host and I immediately felt like part of the family :) I could stay in the Traditional cottage forever if that was even an option! And very tastefully decorated. I will most definitely be back.
- Stephanie (10/5): River Cabin: great escape to just be and relax - This review is for the River Cabin: Lea is a wonderful host who made us feel at home instantly. The River Cabin is as described. It is simple and rustic but has everything you need. My partner and I loved it. It is very peaceful. We enjoyed watching the horses from the neighboring farm. In the evening the bats fly around (keep your window's closed when you don't want them inside). Lea provided fans, which were needed as we stayed during a hot week. Next door is a animal encounter farm with rescue animals. So you can hear lions roar at night. You can also book a guided tour with them, which we recommend. The farm has a big nature reserve where you can go for walks and swim in the dam. If you are lucky some wild Zebras will be grassing near the dam (especially late afternoon). To get to the farm you will have to drive on a dirt road. The river was easy to cross (we stayed during the hot season, so the river barely had any water). Botriver is a small town with a really nice pub at the train station.

The reserve on the farm was amazing for walks in nature and seeing the Zebras up close was a real treat. There is lots to do in close proximity of the farm. - Linda (9/5): A rural gem of a stay - We liked the fact that Swaynekloof is a little off the 'beaten track' . Our VW Polo was fine on the unmade road approach from Botrivier . A little more care needed for the last 300 metres. We stayed in Heritage Cottage. This is a characterful cottage converted beautifully from a farm workers cottage without losing its historic features. It's slightly wonky floors and doors add to its charm. It is blissful to sit on the veranda and gaze at the view and watch the sunset. The cottage had been thoughtfully prepared with everything we needed and Lea and Guy made us feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. We did a food shop for our stay before we arrived and there is a decent sized fridge freezer. There is a small but fairly well stocked supermarket in Botrivier. We walked on their Swaynekloof's own reserve and saw 6 zebras. We visited the amazing Cornellskopf Animal Encounters, which is so close that you can hear one of the lions having his evening roar. We had a lovely meal in Botrivier at Manny's Restaurant , and visited Hermanus. If you like a rustic base , truly out in the country but not a long drive to towns and tourist attractions this is a gem. We loved it. There wasn't anything we didn't like.

The hosts kept me updated on loadshedding /weather, etc and anything else that we should be aware of. The flies :) but if you chose to stay on a farm, you should expect it.

The interior is homely decorated. The bathroom was very basic and it was difficult to have the right temperature in the shower. The beds looked lovely, but the mattress was not comfortable.
- Etienne (10/5): nice and relaxing break - was very peaceful on the farm, so many birds and sounds all around, really makes you feel part of nature, and the fact that they are fixing the gravel road in is a huge plus. driveway to the unit is a tad narrow, so making turning around a tad difficult as my car is low so could not really drive onto the grass section at the end of the drive .. reversing skills were at 100% :)

The check-in was a horror, the property was not as advertised. We booked the two bedroom chalet, but to enter the second bedroom you have to exit the unit, go outside, before you can enter.

- Doreen (9/5): Superb - Peacefulness, no traffic, surrounded by mountains. Listening to the sound of lions and hyenas. Hosts were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back there soon.. We had an amazing experience. Unfortunately when we went there it was raining and the river was flowing over the road that led to the farm. Also the road was a bit slippery. Fortunately Pete guided us through. Was an experience we will not forget quickly.
- Goldia (10/5): Little get away - Loved the whole Farm like feel. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves No complaints just be prepared for the cold if you going in winter.
