cqfp123 (6/5): Well located and clean. Step in the middle of the room a safety hazard. - Stayed one night. Well located property within walking distance of restaurants, shops and attractions. Relatively close to the Brest Fortress (car needed). Very small parking lot, which was full when I arrived. I ended up parking on the other side of a busy road and walking back in the rain. My room was fairly quiet. Spacious, clean room. For unclear reasons, there was a step in the middle of the room, which was a huge safety hazard. I tripped on it several times. There was A/C, although I didn't use it as it was quite cold. Amenities included a mini-fridge; no electric kettle. Enough power sockets, but some of them oddly located (up the wall at waist height at the foot of the bed) and none at the head of the bed. No night tables by the bed. Reasonably comfortable bed and pillows. Bathroom with everything in working order. Shower with good water pressure, however the shower head could only be used handheld, as the holder was not adjustable and kept the shower head facing straight ahead instead of down. Wifi worked well. Breakfast with limited selection.

neilsP1338BS (10/5): 5* bug hotel - What more could you ask for.in a secluded corner of country side .only 10 miles from york city centre. The atmosphere was warm and cosy. All amenities were very good. At night the whole place came alive . There's plenty to see and do nearby including an inland lighthouse. All meals were served at the open air restaurant next to the hotel

Judge21uk (8/5): A rare find - The hotel choices in Brest seemed limited and we were really pleased to find something with more charm than a chain hotel. The room we stayed in was a very good size with a large bathroom, fridge, tv and comfy bed. Aircon and heating also in the room. The reception served drinks from a fridge and the key for the room doubled up as a church key which was very helpful. Breakfast was a lot of food for two people and incredibly good value, £3 each. Great location and really friendly staff. Book and you won’t be disappointed
MrThomas1981 (8/5): Great value with soviet charm - The hotel Bug is very conveniently located opposite the main bus station and the train station and is a 5-10 min walk to the main shopping street of the town and a 45-minute stroll from the fortress. The hotel is in the midst of some pretty major modernisations which seem to have been going on for some time. Most rooms are recently renovated and the public areas are in the midst of a huge reconstruction programme (there is now a brand-new shiny glass lift for example). Room was spacious, spotlessly clean and had a fridge, tv, air con and some basic toiletries as well as free WiFi. Upon our arrival the receptionist was friendly and welcoming and spoke good English, as did the night man when we came back from our evening meal in town. Beers and other drinks are available from reception and were pretty reasonably priced. We opted for breakfast in the hotel and for around £3 each we were given coffee, porridge, 3 eggs, 3 sausages and a platter of bread, meat and cheese - EACH! which was far too much really but our lack of Russian and the breakfast lady's lack of English left us unable to decline! We had a great experience here and gave us a convenient and cheap flavour of Belarus.

It is opposite a large park in Brest. Small breakfast room. No in room tea or coffee service. Rooms are clean and with modern bathroom facilities.

I called the front desk but no one from the hotel was there to intervene. Needless to say sleeping was impossible. The next morning beer bottles littered the corridor.

Verified traveler (8/5): - Good value for money, but if I were to visit again I'd stay elsewhere. The room was a good size and the en suite was nice. The hotel was undergoing renovations at my time of stay, with it appearing as if they were installing a lift, and although I wasn't disturbed by the noise they did seem to start work early in the mornings. The hotel is historic, although some of the decor can seem a bit tired both in the rooms and in the common areas. Breakfast was adequate (costing ~£4), however, due to the renovations a smaller room is being used which can get busy and result in guests sitting at tables with other guests. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location is decent, near to the train/bus station, and a short walk from the centre of the city and fortress.

piotrt854 (8/5): Lovely soviet style hotel - I was on a short trip for New Years Eve. Hotel is in soviet style, however is being renovated. They will probably add some more services like concierge etc. Very nice and professional staff. I really enjoyed my stay in Brest and Hotel Bug.
E17_KJ (6/5): Handy for the station - I’m surprised that the Bug is rated second best in Brest. I found it very average. Nice to have a fridge in the room but adding a kettle and some coffee and tea would have been a nice touch. The staff were polite but not much more than that. Breakfast though was surprisingly good; they don’t do the usual buffet breakfast but asked what you wanted. Through the language barrier we were offered porridge or scrambled eggs, and choose the latter. What came was a very tasty omelette with a frankfurter sausage, followed by Scotch pancakes with some kind of sweet preserve (possibly persimmon?). Not necessarily what I would have chosen, but tasty nonetheless.

Kenneth (10/5): Nostalgia - The Hotel Bug was absolutely amazing. It's a perfect hotel for anybody who is interested in Soviet history or just feel nostalgic for those times. The lobby has been kept in all its Soviet glory complete with a huge bust of Lenin, but the rooms all have the modern conveniences of today such as flat screen TVs and wi-fi. The receptionist is very kind and friendly. The highlight was the hotel's personal museum to Vladimir Vysotsky, who apparently stayed in the Hotel Bug a couple of times.
Ary (8/5): I recommend - The hotel is conveniently located between the train station and the city center (short distance walking). It is being renovated. My room was new and comfortable although the bath is very small. It is possible to go walking to the fort of Brest. Breakfast not included

The only thing was renovation work which was going on in and around hotel but never before 9am so didn't really affect us. We had a great stay many thanks
Ana_L_23 (10/5): No longer Soviet style - I know I will be one of the only to say it, but I was disappointed with the fact that the hotel is no longer Sovet style - it was just being renovated when I stayed there... Nevertheless, the service is good, and the rooms are comfortable, though a fan would be a good idea for the Summer, since it gets extremely hot. The lobby is still Soviet style :)

NICHOLASGILROY (8/5): 1958 - -1958 build under development programme -comfortable single room with en-suite -interesting lobby & large staircase -friendly reception staff speaking excellent English -vending machines in lobby -adjoining restaurant - no English menu unfortunately -5 minutes walk over the bridge from the railway station -30 minutes walk to the Fortress area -10 minutes walk to Main Street -nice park across the road -good choice for an overnight -I enjoyed my stay here -recommended

Aliaksandr (10/5): Можно останавливаться на день-другой - Главное преимущество - расположение отеля: близко к вокзалу, автовокзалу, пешеходной улице, магазинам. Это типичная советская гостиница, реновированная, но не до конца; например, нет лифта, паркет поскрипывает. В номере есть стандартный набор принадлежностей, все устраивает, а душевая кабина с массажным душем - более того. Хороша на лестнице фотогалерея знаменитостей, останавливавшихся в отеле. Но вот ночью в номере было холодно, а возможность поднять или регулировать температуру здесь отсутствует.
tomaszp790 (8/5): back in the USSR :-) - the hotel is conveniently located close to railway station and the main street - Lenin street. friendly staff on reception, never had too much problems, they try to solve it as quick as possible, if they can of course. rooms in which I stayed were renovated with all necessary things inside, just corridor and stairs are very old, dating back to '70. very good ratio of price/quality, the breakfast now very healthy (lot of fat used in preparation), but is served from 7am, which is seldom in Brest (in other hotels from 7:30 (which is too late for me).
Mary (6/5): Old Weird Place but ok brief stay - This place is old and worn. Not charming, just old. Efforts have been made to "update" the room and the bathroom was nice. There is no lift so is not good for old or disabled. As in most places in Europe there is no AC. My room was on the side facing the highway which was noisy with the window open. Carpets in the hallways are very old, worn and stained. The staff were very nice and helpful at the desk.
941dimad (2/5): Bug Hotel, Brest - You can not expect much from a hotel honoring Lenin in the lobby. Wierd place: unhelpful service, if you do not mention breakfast they will not offer, a room full of mosquitos, macabre interior waiting for refurbishment

854katyam (6/5): Like in the USSR - Don't expect for something usual and modern, the hotel is very simple. Everything is old there - central stairs, red carpet on the floor, reception, furniture... But the price for a stay is reasonable.
Antoinettelaak (6/5): Old school Russia - Bug Hotel used to be a upperclass hotel with famous guests. It has a grand hall with 'dynasty-like' stairs and big rooms with high ceilings. BUT....paint is coming of; the bed sounds al night like you're having rough sex in it. There is no lift and breakfast is served in a restaurant next door. If you are into the feded glory of the USSR this is a great place.
