A bit far from the downtown if you have no car (about 25 minutes walking or a taxi for 70 baht). There is no fan in the room and very few furniture there, so it isn't a good choice for long stay

• Kevin (10/5): A secret gem - It was a small 12 room family run hotel. It was in a lovely setting and so quiet. The two ladies that ran it where so helpful. The room was spotless breakfast was great I had Thai breakfast but was offered American style. And good value 👍

It's a long walk to everything but doable. Tuk tuk cheap. I would recommend the White Elephant Resort as when I come back to Surin this is the place where I will be staying at.
• DirtyPierreOnTour (8/5): A change of ownership ruined a good resort - Lovingly built by a Danish gentleman who was married to a Thai lady for many years. His standard of quality shows in the construction of the buildings and the way the garden and indoor swimming pool is set out. Due to new Thai ownership when I last visited in Oct 2011 the managing of the resort has deteriorated noticably. Now no English is spoken and unless you are Thai booking a room is near impossible short of turning up and paying cash like I did. But then I have stayed there many times before when the original Danish owner was still running it. Even so backin 2011 400 baht per night is a brilliant bargain for what you get. Just very near impossible for westerners to make a booking by phone or email. If you have a Thai friend get them to speak with them on either +66873776994 or +6644530705 Good luck in getting a room but well worth the trouble if you can. Leaves everything else in Surin for dead. Last stayed there Oct 2011 PS: It is now 2019 and Tripadvisor has requested I modify this review. I honestly hope that things have changed and it has improved its management. I can only review from my visits and can not see into the future. why Tripadvisor would ask a DE to modify a review from 2011 is very suspicious. Tripadvisor has enough problems with fake reviews as it is without going after honest reviews from a respected reviewer. When did you travel does not allow me to put in the correct year so I am forced to put in 2019 which is incorrect!!!

The staff are friendly and the hotel is situated in a really nice garden setting with all the rooms facing the garden.Free coffee is on hand all the time from the on site restaurant.I would definitely stay here again.

• lucw252 (10/5): Excellent place to stay - This Resort have very nice rooms and a balcony with a green view, very friendly staff and very helpful. The rooms are clean and give you a good accommodation free wifi and parking spaces. Also a good location for day trips around Surin.
• Scott (8/5): Well kept, cozy and comfy. - Centrally located, beautifully decorated and immaculately clean the White Elephant is a very comfortable stay. The staff is sweet and everything works, probably because of the Danish owner. We had made reservations on Hotels.com but when we got there the front desk told us they were sold out and they tried to put us at a lesser hotel around the corner. Ultimately they found us a room at the White Elephant but it was an inconvenient dance. Aside from that I have to say the hotel is very nice and shows a lot of decorative touches that give it a lot of character. Very good value.
• kannithaKESOR (10/5): Just 4 Holiday - We had recently stayed at this White Elephant Resort which is got a nice location and quit to other entertaining areas. Room was spacious and cozy with a state-of-the-art facilities, pool area is clean and indulgent with a swimming.
• BananaLu (8/5): Cozy place but no pool anymore! - Very nice place with a small common garden where you can sit and relax after your day visits. The rooms were very clean and well arranged. Breakfast was good and it is possible to get few drinks during the day or night in the common fridge. Be careful, on some website they kept the swimming pool option but it has been removed and replaced by the restaurant area.

We tried to book into a previous hotel that we had stayed in but it was full and then we found The White Elephant Resort, this is now my first choice when staying in Surin, which we do twice a year. Amazing rooms, so nicely decorated, very good A/C, hot water and good Wifi. The garden is just beautiful and a very nice Thai BBQ chicken restaurant on the main road, left at the lights.....see you again.

Breakfast was the best we’ve had in Thailand and the staff are so sweet and helpful. This would be my number one pick for accomodation in Surin. A 5 minute tuk tuk ride to the city centre, about a 20 minute walk. If you’re looking for comfort, you’ve found it.

• Jon & Noi (10/5): Heaven in Paradise - Incredable stay at White Elephant Resort. Can't speak highly enough about this Great little Jem in the middle of Surin. Minutes from everything and yet still secluded in a quiet spot. This is the best place we've stayed at since I've been in Thailand. There is bigger and more expensive but all without the charm and personal service. The staff goes above and beyond and we felt more like family than guest's. • 158trevora (8/5): Small rooms but... - Stayed here before this trip & everything was good except the mattress was as hard as a rock. Thankfully that’s now changed & mattresses are good. Room very nicely decorated with an old European style & is well done, albeit they are small. Grounds are beautifully laid out & orchids & flowers excellent! Breakfast expensive an extra 200baht was ok. Staff friendly & helpful. Will stay again. Swimming pool has been covered in!

• MoncrieffBrown (10/5): A Perfect hide-away in Surin - Stayed here for 6 nights for a family wedding which was taking place some distance away. A small clean friendly hotel with beautifully decorated rooms and also a feeling of homeliness. A beautiful green and fragrant garden touches the verandas of the downstairs suites. A large area and very relaxing to sit out on during the evening or for shade during the day. The bedroom had excellent air conditioning and was kept spotlessly clean. I was not charged for laundry which I appreciated! Very reasonable price, value for money when staying here. Highly recommended!
• Verified traveler (6/5): Double commission - Stayed there for one night. A lovely place. However, during check-out, the staff insisted that a booking and payment via hotels.com was not valid. As I was in a hurry to catch a bus, I paid the (double) commission. I don't know whether this was a scam or just plain incompetency. (I am inclined to believe the latter.) Either way, I cannot recommend the resort.

Room big and clean, good big not hard bed, bathroom same good, staff TOP, nice small garden, breakfast possible for 200 Tbh not cheap but MORE then enough and excellent. Price Quality overall absolutely GREAT. In Surin or around we will stay there again. We highly recommend.

The room is as nice or nicer than the places we've stayed at in Surin at a great price. Plus, the location is quiet though close to the parts of Surin we needed to be in (Surin Hospital area.) The internet was better than the other hotels as well. The grounds were a pleasant retreat of a garden, though there isn't a pool. Loved it.
• ParrRob (8/5): Great - Fancy room, english tv channels, good quite location, bit hard to find, terrific staff. Comfortable bed and nice gardens to have a beer in. Unfortunately they do not take credit card. We paid 600B and on top of this we paid 200B each for breakfast. A bit over priced for breakfast.

• Basv649 (8/5): Very nice hotel with beautiful garden - When i first arrived at the hotel i was surprised by the beautiful and peaceful garden and the sightly white hotelbuilding, so diffirent from many other hotels. The room was good, clean, with spacious bathroom, airco, tv, fridge, and romantic bed; seating area at the frontside of the room, with nice view at the garden. When i was there in august, the hotel didnot offer any breakfast or dinner service; but the center of Surin and bus- and railwaystation is at 10 minutes away by tuk tuk or motorcycle.
• Marcoilveneziano (4/5): QUIET HOTEL - This hotel is clean, nothing extaordinary for one night stay. Not easy to find and a bit far from the center. I liked the gardens. In Surin hotel choice is limited anyway. Where is the staff ? looks like ghostly
