- sujit2019 (8/5): Very pleasant with one or two important shortcomings - The hotel is comfortable with welcoming staff. The room and bed were very good, while the bathroom lacked a few useful bits of equipment, in particular any aid for getting in and out of the bath shower. That operation for elderly and not so mobile people was a challenge and the bath floor itself was slippery and needed some form of anti-slip material. The two dinners we had were unimaginative, lacked vegetables and were uncompetitive with the restaurant meal we had in the centre of Villandry, which was similarly priced and much better. The highlight of a three night stay was a 45 minute massage, excellently performed.

It has an elevator, all services and everything works. It is homely and comfortable and so quiet when I visited. I loved every minute there

- adventuresintandem (10/5): Wonderful Personal Attention - This is the fifth time that we have stayed at this lovely inn. We have been running bike tours every couple of years since 2017. Every time we come to the Inn, the owner, Pascal, has made some improvement. First it was adding air conditioning to the entire Inn, then it was adding a casual dinner service. This year, Pascal has converted one of their rooms to be a massage room where you can order massages. The Inn is immaculate and quite lovely. We really enjoyed Pascal's personal attention to his guests. For the first time we were challenged with rain on the day that our bike tour was leaving Villandry. Pascal was able to find a company to arrange bicycle transport for our large tandem bikes and arranged for cab rides for those of our group who were not comfortable riding. On our tour we stay at some pretty fancy and pricey places, but this hotel remains my favorite. It is because the hotel is comfortable and the management is warm, welcoming and always looking for ways to make our stay even better. We look forward to coming to the Inn again the next time we run our tour.

- Beart1961 (10/5): 2nd visit to this lovely hotel - Last year we stayed the last night of our bike ride along part of the Loire at this lovely hotel, we loved it so much we stayed here the first 2 nights of our ride this year. It’s a beautiful family-run hotel and a wonderfully relaxing place to stay (and near the stunning Chateau de Villandry gardens). The hotel offer a simple but delicious set menu based on regional dishes in the evenings which we had both nights and on a sunny day it’s lovely sitting on the terrace having pre dinner drinks. Worth noting they were also really helpful in dealing with our hire bikes that we had delivered to the hotel and also with our luggage which was delivered and collected by a luggage transport company. We’ll definitely return again.

- Typam (10/5): Annex “ Privilege » Rooms are large , on the ground floor with AC - Perfect halt close to Villandry and convenient for visiting the Loire valley vineyards and castles. We stayed two nights in the privilege room ( no.1) in the annex. Ground level. Large room. Spacious bathroom with a walk in shower. Air conditioning. Definitely worth the extra euros. The AC worked perfectly and was a welcome addition during the 37 degrees Celsius heat wave . Plenty of parking in front of the annex rooms. Large choice in the breakfast buffet served inside the main building or on the terrace between 7:30 and 9:30 AM. Use Google maps to find “ Les Barrières Blanches” instead of the GPS in your car. The hotel is located on D 121, but there are no signs on the road.

- MRA09 (10/5): Lovely family hotel - We had a great time.Pascal was a brilliant host and helped us with reservations for dinner. We loved the garden and jacuzzi. Breakfast was great and we enjoyed wine recommendations in the bar. We’ll set up for families. Great experience all round.
- David (8/5): Overnight stay - Tours - On the whole a pleasant stay. Room a good size with queen bed. Good to see summer tog duvet on the bed. Pillows not so good but we usually bring our own anyway. Bed was comfortable enough for us. Bathroom good sized. Lift available to get to other floors, again a good plus point. Continental breakfast available which have good range of items to choose from. Evening meal available- not advertised on the website. We enjoyed the meal we had (3 course, 1 set menu, only €25) There is no choice so if fussy might not suit you. Staff we interacted with were excellent.

- Beart1961 (10/5): Lovely hotel - wish we could have stayed longer - Such a lovely hotel. Our room was spacious, fresh and light looking out across the grounds and the neighbouring field of cows. Very peaceful. The bed was super comfortable, the bathroom lovely. And really importantly the staff were all friendly and helpful. We had the fixed menu and as it was sunny this was served on the terrace, it was both delicious and great value. The hotel is totally deserving of all its glowing reviews and we wish we could have stayed longer - was definitely the best hotel we stayed in along the route. In case useful for others cycling - We visited as part of a self organised bike trip along the Loire - the hotel was helpful in both receiving and dispatching our luggage (which was booked by us through Bagafrance)
- pbridge1300 (10/5): New, fresh, comfortable, value - New and fresh rooms and facilities in a renovated abbey. My room was huge, bed firm and good, bathroom excellent. They offered a fixed menu dinner which was enjoyable and good value, but you have to understand that there is no choice. This would be a good base for a multi-day auto tour. I would absolutely stay here again.
- GlenD28 (10/5): Lovely relaxing quality with good value - A wonderful boutique hotel set in its own grounds on the edge of the village of Villandry and within walking distance of the magnificent chateau. Pascal, the owner, and his team are welcoming, friendly and helpful. It’s not a problem if your French is not great as they are multi lingual. Rooms are well furnished and comfortable and they also welcome dogs. The River Cher a tributary of the Loire makes a good walk with your dog. The hotel offers a set menu for dinner, which is prepared using local ingredients. Overall it provides a relaxing enjoyable stopover on our trips to and from Spain and gives good value

- Rebecca (10/5): - Just wonderful, everything done to exactly the right standards and values, and done simply. No corners cut for a superb price, and a breath of fresh air. I was upgraded without asking at no extra cost. The staff look happy, employed locally and are clearly treated well, the area is stunning, the meals are fantastic value and wholesome. Everything just qiuetly works around you. A rarety amongst hotels. The doors all have super soft close so no relentless door slamming. The guests are considerate and not noisey. The area is so quiet except for the fantastic sound of birdsong - if you want to know what it used to be like to live alongside nature and have it flourish - come here. You will be shocked at what we have lost in the vast majority elsewhere. If you want to know how fantastic real fresh milk used to taste - come here. To the hotel please don't change anything about what you are doing - if only more places were like you.

We hadden een grote comfortabele kamer. Het hotel heeft een restaurant met een beperkt menu. Het eten is lekker klaargemaakt maar de aangeboden vegetarische optie was een tegenvaller.

The location could not have been better to visit the amazing Chateau Villandry. The breakfast was the best we had on offer, in any hotel or BnB, for our entire 3-week trip through France including Paris. The croissants were enough to make you close your eyes in sheer gastro-heaven; flaky and buttery. My mouth waters just remembering the taste! The employees were also very helpful, kind and especially Isabela, a delightful person! She was our first contact and set the tone for our stay. I highly recommend Le Haut des Lys.

The location is also very good, just minutes walking distance from Villandry castle, which I warmly recommend to be visited. There are other castles nearby, although a car is needed. The breakfast is not various but it is not so important for us. I really liked the place and recommend it to everyone.

The location is on the edge of Villandry village, just a 10 minute was walk to restaurants and the Chateau. Rooms are really nice and have air conditioning. The owner Pascal was very friendly, charming and helpful. We will definitely stay again

- Carolyn (10/5): Hospitable, super comfortable and convenient stay! - This is an outstanding place to stay to enjoy the many joys of the Loire Valley! Pascal is a phenomenal host and is so helpful with information about the hotel and the area. I stayed in one of the adjacent annex rooms and enjoyed eating dinner one evening at the table/chairs outside my room. The setting is very quiet and peaceful - and you're not far from access to any number of chateaux or other great sites in the area. The dinner buffet selection onsite is great and very convenient if getting back late after a long day of sight-seeing. The bathroom is enormous and a welcome relief after small central Paris bathrooms! :) I especially appreciated having a small refrigerator in the room and the storage space was excellent as well. The patio has comfortable furniture and the garden area within the enclosed walls is very lovely/peaceful if you want to take a little stroll or sit in a very pastoral setting. The proximity to the Villandry chateau is of course great and I'd highly recommend the short climb to the top of the tower to enjoy the beautiful views of the gardens!

- Philippe (10/5): The ultimate gem in the Loire Valley - I have seldom given 5 stars for perfection but Le Haut des Lys deserves them. This small hotel is a gem. The owners are always present making sure their guests are well taken care of. Set in a beautiful countryside estate, formerly a boarding school and totally redone 5 years ago, this "hotel de charme" is located just outside the lovely village of Villandry, a few minutes away from one the most beautiful castle and gardens in the Loire Valley. The location is perfect as a base to explore the area. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast is very good. It is worth mentioning that this hotel is part of the brand "Relais du Silence", a group of similarly charming and quiet hotels throughout Europe and managed as their owners' association. Definitely worth looking into that brand when visiting Europe and selecting "Le Haut des Lys" when in the Loire Valley
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wow! - Wow almost doesn’t cover it, just a truly lovely experience. We stayed in a room with a private terrace and hot tub at a genuinely good price, well worth every penny. The Château makes you feel special as you drive through the gates, it’s gorgeous. The owners were so welcoming and show you to your room and where everything is. The room was small but perfectly formed. Lovely comfy bed with clearly high quality linen. Bathrobes and towels all very high quality too. Really nice spacious bathroom with a bath and shower. The hot tub was obviously a huge bonus, nothing quite like sipping bubbly while relaxing in a private tub with your other half and watching the night come in. The owners have tried to think of everything to help like tv channel listing printed out for you so you can easily find English/ French/ German etc. Villandry town, caves and chateau well worth a visit too. I would come back here in a heartbeat and very likely to make a return trip or three.
- Greg (10/5): Wonderful place in a beautiful location - We stayed for a night here in August with fantastic weather. The hotel is tastefully renovated and the staff were very friendly. The E’tape Gourmand restaurant a few hundred yards away is lovely with a beautiful outside terrace under the trees and is clearly very popular with the locals so you must book. The Chateau de Villandry is well worth a visit and the gardens are breathtaking.

- Brett (8/5): Nice hotel in Loire - The hotel is nice, clean and appears to be recently updated. The proprietors were very friendly and helpful and showed us to our rooms. We had a family room, which is actually two adjacent rooms, connected by a small hallway which is closed off from the main hallway (so only one keyed door). The gate is closed from 1 to 3, so no early check-in. Located near the outskirts of Villandry, the area has the ambiance of the french country-side. The location is convenient for access to many sights in the Loire valley. Not far from Castle Villandry.
- Michael (8/5): Pleasant stay - Pleasant but basic room. Large bathroom. Staff was very nice. Good breakfast buffet that costs 12 Euros. Nice outdoor sitting areas. Quiet. Good restaurant nearby. No air conditioning in our room. No early check in as gates are closed between 1 and 3 unless you have a key card.
- Denise (8/5): Good for the price - It was clean and conveniently located. A little overly “techy” for us. Could only work the tv and shower lights with a tablet which didn’t work so we had to sleep with the shower light on.
- SELDA (10/5): We’ll be back - Staying at this hotel made our trip all the more special because the family running it was so welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The garden was so lovely to have a drink after a long day of Château trips and if the weather was a little cooler, the little chapel inside turned into a lovely room was great for sipping the most delicious wine (and no allergy causing sulfites in these regional wines). Pascal, Nathalie, and Audrey made a home that we would love to visit frequently.
- Bill (10/5): Villandry Countryside - We had an exceptional experience at Le Haut with very a very personable and friendly owner/manager in attendance. The countryside was a great setting for this fully restored building with very nice amenities. Breakfast was top quality with a good selection.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great place from which to visit Chateaux - Very clean and comfortable room. Front desk staff pleasant. Nice breakfast. No restauarnt for dinner but staff made recommendations for a restaurant close by.
- Moi (10/5): Excellent service!! - Family owned ,chain B&B service-like Hotel. Excellent reception and most friendly & helpful. Particularly Audrey and Pascal (dad). Mum’s english limited & she looks after breakfast. Best croissants we have had so far. Nothing is too much trouble for Audrey. When w asked for hot water, we were provided a thermos jug with cups on a tray. Audrey gave us some French lesson too! When we got there late( nearly 9pm) they booked the restaurant down the road (l’Etape Gourmande) for us. Great food and service! Very reasonable too. Very comfortable stay. They pride themselves for the service and so they should!! This old convent building is very cosy. Only possible improvement is to provide coffee and tea.
- Kimberly (10/5): Incredible find! - What a delightful find in Loire. I can’t speak highly enough about the property, the grounds, the location, and especially the attentive, warm, and kind owners. We spent four nights here with our family of four and absolutely loved our stay. The best part was chatting with the owners each evening on the outdoor terrace. They seem to have poured their hearts into creating this special place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quiet hotel with the friendliest staff - Lovely hotel set outside the village of Villandry. Very quiet at night and we stayed for one night of blissful sleep. The staff were without exception helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent and the room very spacious and comfortable.Wifi a little slow.

- lrosenth (10/5): Wonderful hotel close the Château Villandry - This hotel is just a marvel! We stayed for three nights and it has been a wonderful experience. The hotel has been recently established in an old annex building of the chateau. The renovation of the building has been done with a lot of style - and it has all the modern amenities of a modern hotel (e.g. elevator). The rooms are bright and well equipped with everything You need. Our room was very clean with a nice, spacious bathroom. The hotel also has a private parking lot. It's an owner operated business and the service was extremely friendly and nice. The breakfast buffet has been well stocked. Over all a perfect place to stay to visit the Châteaux de la Loire!
- simon and Julie (10/5): Great hotel, great family, very friendly - Found this hotel on Expedia, a one night stop over on the way to south of Bordeaux What a great find, so good we re booked two nights on the way back, very good hotel, very good hotel, top customer service from a good family business. Thoroughly recommend great stay thanks for your hospitality. We will be back.
- Bernard (10/5): Favorite stop over - The building and gardens are kept to a very high standard and the owner was very helpful with information regarding the area, as he only provides breakfast I asked if he could recommend a restaurant for dinner which he did at a farmhouse seven hundred meters along the road he even booked us a table and when we return he inquired if we had enjoyed the food and surroundings. We will be returning here we have added this to or favorite stops as we travel to and from the Cos del sol .

- Shaw (10/5): Amazing Gem - Truly excellent condition of this completely renovated hotel; rooms are outstanding with all modern facilities; bathroom was spacious with full tub/ shower; Owner's daughter waited for us until. 11:30 PM to check us in and walked us up to our room (we called ahead to advise we will be late) easy to get to following GPS
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean, comfortable place to stay - Beautifully restored house with garden abd outside seating area. Close to Chateau de Villandry with several bars and restaurants within a few minutes drive. There was parking on site close to the entrance. Our room was clean and functional but quite small. It was fine for a one night stay. The owners were friendly and helpful. The bar served hot and cold beverages. Breakfast was served in a bright, spacious area and was a typical French breakfast which was fine for us. It is a shame they do not offer dinner there. A minor inconvenience was that the gate to the property, for both cars and pedestrians did not open until 3.00pm. Hotels.com website indicated there was 24 hour reception which is not the case.
- Steven (10/5): Excellent Hotel, Meticulously Kept - Very hospitable owners. Immaculately clean, modern, 'garden' rooms with veranda with table and chairs. Buffet Continental breakfast was set in a most pleasant dining room in the main house. Recommended farmhouse restaurant was ten minutes walk up the road; we ate dinner there and were delighted with the gourmet food, wine and service. All excellent.
- Johannes (10/5): Fantastic Hotel! - Fantastic stay! The owner was so friendly, explained to us everything we need to know about our stay and also recommended us to go for dinner to the nearby restaurant. After we came back from dinner, he personally met us and asked us about how we like our breakfast and such. In short: highly recommended!
- Rebecca (10/5): Breakfasts were the best! - Lovely Stay at this Chateau. The guest room we had was #4. Comfortable bed, easy chairs, TV ( though we didn't I watch), large modern bathroom, great shower!. Rooms 1-4 are motel style with outside entrance/ porch with chairs and small table to sit and enjoy a bottle of wine and enjoy the view. I believe they also have rooms in the main building where breakfast is also served. Soft and hard boiled eggs, amazing jams, croissant, amazing bread like only the French can do, fruit, cereal, cheese board, prosciutto,ham, fresh coffee and tea. Well worth the inexpensive cost of breakfast. Everything about this place is perfect. Close to chateau vallandry with its spectacular gardens - a must see! A wonderful stop over in Loire Valley!
