• David (10/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel & wouldn’t hesitate to stay at this property again. Thank you, Alessand - The location was perfect for exploring the various neighborhoods of Venice. The property was clean & well maintained. Alessandra was prompt to answer any questions we had prior to our stay. She also provided excellent, detailed directions on how to find the property from the train station. Upon arrival, we were greeted & given a tour of the breakfast area & our accommodations. This was followed by a helpful conversation regarding navigating the city as well as several suggestions for dining. We highly recommend Antico Gatoleto for their salads & pizzas. The breakfast room overlooked the canal & provided a delightful atmosphere while enjoying our meal. Alessandra & her staff were readily available to assist us in anyway during our stay & truly made us feel pampered!
• Neal (9/5): Venice was magical. - Alexandra was a gracious and informative hostess. The property was tucked away, cozy and quiet. The room was uniquely decorated, relaxing and the pier on grand canal offered great views. Tight bathroom space. But understandly, this is a historical place and it worked. The check in staff was not nearly as helpful or easy to understand as Alessandra, who was exceptional.
• Arnaud (10/5): Excellent - Très bon emplacement, dans une petite rue à 2 pas du Rialto tout en étant au calme : aucun bruit dans la chambre. Le petit déjeuner est copieux (thé/café/chocolat, jus de fruits, fruits frais, viennoiseries, gâteaux, charcuterie, fromage, ...) et de qualité. Il est pris dans une salle avec vue sur le grand canal. La décoration est soignée. Si vous venez de l'aéroport par Alilaguna, évitez la ligne Arancia : les bateaux sont petits et s'il y a du monde vous pouvez facilement attendre plus d'une heure dans la queue (1h30 pour nous). Préférez la ligne Blu : elle a des plus gros bateaux, et il n'y a que 10 minute de marche de l'arrêt Fondumentale Nove à l'hôtel.
• JeffStacey (10/5): Would stay here again rather than explore elsewhere. - Nice view of a public dock for breakfast. Watching deliveries come in by boat was interesting as they all jockey for position. No disputes but am sure there are issues from time to time. Right in the middle of most everything. Whether you want to go to Murano or Burano, see St Marks or just immerse yourself in Venetian life, Scalon de doge is in the middle of it all. Allisandra is very knowledgeable and not only your hostess but the architect of your stay. Her insights to the entire area were also onz I won’t say there was really anything we didn’t like, but if there was one thing that could help improve the stay it would have been to have the quest common area open all day. It is a beautiful setting and if you have to work online at all, there is no better place than that area.

It was our wedding anniversary and we arrived to Prosecco snacks a celebration message and decorative towels. On the day we left I was given a beautiful Murano glass necklace to remind me of our visit.The breakfast was tasty and plentiful a great start to the day. She advised where to go and what to see, helped us to organise our time in Venice that we could see as many things as possible. She helped booking tickets for Doge's Palace to save our time. I could go on and on to praise her friendly and welcoming nature! 2. the location of this hotel is amazing. • M (9/5): Old world Venetian charm with a passionate B&B host - Scalone de Doge is a small B&B with an authentic old-world Venetian style. Our hostess, Alessandra, was extremely communicative leading up to and during our stay. She provided very clear instructions on the location and how to get there, and even assisted with the steps to obtain an exemption from the Venetian tourist tax. The location was very central and a short walk to St. Mark's Square. Breakfast was offered daily, in their breakfast room with a beautiful view of the Grand Canal. There were options to fit everyone's tastes. We took Alessandra's "Secret Life of Venetians" tour, which put a new light on how Venetians live (both past and present), as well as the extensive history and new appreciation and understanding of the rich culture, history, and art that can be seen just walking through the city. Highly recommend this if you're staying with her. Alessandra is extremely passionate about the B&B, the city, and sharing it with you. Our room overlooked one of the canals, and it was fun to hear the tourists coming through all through the day and night. The staff went over a map of Venice upon arrival and provided us with a list of recommended restaurants to help us avoid the tourist traps. This is not the hotel's or Alessandra's fault. It was Easter weekend, so the city itself was packed full of tourists and very overwhelming. Accommodations in general are on the smaller side in Venice, and we found it challenging to deal with our obnoxious, oversized (American) luggage (three pieces) within the room. It also wasn't very fun to get it up and down the grand staircase leading up to the B&B.

• Catriona (8/5): Calm and ideally situated small hotel. - Alessandra is a very welcoming (and multilingual) hostess. Everything was well organised with instructions sent in advance etc. The property is ideally situated, near the Rialto and (important for opera goers, the Teatro Malibran). Everything was spotlessly clean. The tiny hotel is in a very quiet environment. I would recommend it. Whilst the sheets were cotton, the blanket was in synthetic material alas. Also there was just general liquid soap (with no indication of composition) rather than specific toiletries.

Die zwei Ladys waren supernett und total um uns bemüht. Das Frühstück war einfach nur eine „Wucht“ . Man bekam Nachschlag wenn der Hunger groß war. Es gab für jeden Geschmack etwas.. Schinken, Proscutto, verschiedene Käsesorten, süßes Gebäck, Joghurt, Obst…… Sehr empfehlenswert!!!!

• Suzanne (9/5): A gem in Venice! - Breakfast was excellent! The breakfast room is small but charming, and it overlooks the Grand Canal and the private dock in front of the hotel. There was a great variety of food – sweet pastries and cakes, fruit, cereal, yoghurt, toast, cold cuts and cheeses, boiled eggs, juices and coffee (the cappuccino was excellent). It’s not a buffet – you fill out a form for the first day and also tell the breakfast “staff” (one lovely lady) what you want. You can change your preferences from day to day. The personal care and attention from the staff, in particular from Alessandra, was amazing. Her recommendations and information were much appreciated. We also did her walking tour (extra cost), which gave us some incredible insights and details into Venice’s history. Our room (for three people: one double bed and one single bed) was very comfortable. The bathroom was small but modern and clean. Even though the room was directly off of the reception, it was surprisingly quiet in the hotel itself. The only thing was there were strange noises from the floor above (not the hotel) which actually woke us up at strange hours on our first night. Despite that, I would absolutely recommend this hotel. The location was perfect for exploring the city. It is close to the Rialto bridge. We walked from the boat there (approx. ten minutes and with some stairs). It is also possible to get a private boat taxi to the private dock directly in front of the hotel, but we did not need to do that. All the main sights are walkable – or jump on a boat to go further afield. -

• Ee Xin (9/5): A true Venice experience through & through - Scalon del Doge was such a unique stay with amazing hospitality, perfectly in theme with Venice — silk-adorned walls, ornate details, and old-world charm everywhere. Its location was super convenient too, just a short walk to the Rialto vaporetto stop with a dock right in front. And breakfast each morning came with a stunning Grand Canal view — truly a Venice experience through and through. It helps that Alessandra was a great host & extremely helpful as well! Not large luggage friendly due to the stairs, but otherwise, all’s well!

• Dianne (10/5): The most memorable stay in Italy. - We stayed 3 nights at the Scalon del Doge as our first stop on a 17 day trip in Europe. This by far was our favorite and most memorable stay. The location was incredible, we were just a few steps from the Grand Canal with a private dock for water taxis. The Rialto Bridge was only a few minute walk and there is so much shopping and food within steps from the location. It was also walking distance to most of the attractions in Venice. The host Alessandra was amazing. She prepared a wonderful breakfast each morning, provided us with a map of the city and gave us tips and directions on all of the attractions to visit. She was kind and thoughtful and made our stay so special. She is also very knowledgeable about the history of the city and we loved hearing about local traditions and Venice’s past. She also shared a few local restaurants to try and was helpful by giving us suggestions for a trip to Murano and Burano. She explained which water-bus to take and offered us a voucher to watch glass blowing in Murano which was worth the journey to visit. We loved waking up every morning and having a view of the canal from breakfast. Even the selections for breakfast were wonderful: fresh cappuccinos, croissants, cheese, meat, fruit, juice and eggs. I traveled with my daughter and we felt very safe at the location. It was quiet and all the other guests were respectful. We stayed in the superior double room which was decorated lovely and had a nice bathroom attached. When we arrived the room had Italian candy, snacks, and cookies which was a nice surprise after our long flight. We would absolutely recommend the Scalon del Doge for anyone looking for a quiet, memorable stay in Venice. To Alessandra: Thank you for everything. We hope to come back soon!
• Mishka Borzova (9/5): Cute romantic stay in crazy Venice - Alessandra, the owner is lovely and caring, she has the right personality for tailor made experiences, and connects to your needs while intuitively communicating with you. Royal blue suit has beautiful chandelier, carved bed’s headboard which I liked very much. This B & B offers a lovely stay in historic building and it’s ideal for couples, as a romantic place, right in the middle of crazy, shoulder to shoulder busy Venice. 🙈 WiFi and hot water worked well too. Nothing to dislike. Just a useful info for travelers: those of you with mobility issues please note there is a flight of stairs leading to property, without elevator. If you are a bigger person/ or taller please note that in some parts of Europe, especially in older buildings, toilets, mattresses might be smaller/shorter than in the US for example. The little square area, right in front of the B & B is marked as the “hidden gem” in Google maps, and just like that, 40-45 young people were hanging out there, drinking, singing and partying, buying drinks from the nearby restaurant- this is not necessarily bad thing just useful info for you to consider.

• López Rodríguez (10/5): - La estancia se nos hizo súper familiar gracias a, Alessandra y su equipo. Son realmente acogedores y detallistas. Además cuidan el trato con cada huésped adaptándolo a nuestras necesidades. Es un gusto viajar así porque te sientes como en casa estando realmente en otro país! Lo recomendamos totalmente.

• Keninha (9/5): UMA IMERSÃO VENEZIANA! (O hotel tem meu coração!) - A localização é EXCELENTE! A decoração EXATAMENTE COMO NAS FOTOS! O café da manhã MARAVILHOSO e a vista ESPETACULAR! O atendimento super GENTIL e ACESSÍVEL! Voltaria mil vezes! O quarto em que ficamos era lindo, limpo e a decoração era exatamente como nas fotos, mas a janela era bem pequenininha (dava para o pé da escada de entrada) e o banheiro privativo, mas fora do quarto. Não sei se estava descrito e eu não prestei atenção ou se a informação não constava na descrição.
• Helena (9/5): Från detta lilla fina hotell har man nära till allt i Venedig. - Centralt läge. Rent och fint. Trevlig och hjälpsam personal. Underbar utsikt över Canal Grande från den lilla frukostmatsalen. Första frukostserveringen var först 0830 (men vi kom alltid 10-15 innan och det gick bra☺️).
• Chris (9/5): This is an amazing location with an owner that will enhance your visit! - Alessandra is PHENOMENAL. She is a wealth of information, and more importantly, she loves to share and help. She isn’t just interested in her accommodations, she is concerned about the entire experience of her guests. She helped us make train reservations, gave us a very detailed “guide” of Venice and the top things to see. I can’t say enough about her! The rooms are well appointed- and of course Alessandra adds touches like a welcome gift, chamomile on the sheets… and she gave directions to her home that were invaluable. Her wisdom is truly a gem. You need to stay here! I knew about it in advance, but I would have liked to have had a bathroom in our room.

Sie war sehr hilfsbereit und hat dem Gast jeden Wunsch ermöglicht und sich um alles liebevoll gekümmert. Das gesamte Hotel und Personal kann man nur ohne Einschränkungen weiterempfehlen. Die Lage war perfekt. Nichts. Alles super

• Doris (10/5): Loved this hotel off the beaten path but really close to everything. Great staff and tour by owner - Family owned and run. My room and design was absolutely beautiful and as shown in the pictures. Breakfast and room very well done. Nothing. The only comment is that the entrance is up a long staircase that requires small suitcase instead of the heavy one I brought. Thank you to the staff for helping me bring it up .
