- Jennifer (10/5): I always stay here. Good value, and I can bring my dogs. - Clean, no smell and I can have my dogs. Good space for them to go out and potty. Please consider fencing it. Weird hairs attached to the towels that were jumbled in the laundry, but clearly could have been pulled off. Can we have a toilet lid to keep the dogs out of the toilet bowl?

Friendly staff, exceptionally clean room, comfortable beds, great TV, microwave and tiny fridge with tiny freezer. We didn't mind but the room is small. A larger fridge would've been nice but we were satisfied for one night's lodging.

- Chelsea (10/5): - I travel full time and end up staying at motel 6 often due to the consistency of what to expect and price for a one night stop. But one surpassed my expectations! The shower stayed hot and was clean, I didn’t spot a single bug, and it had all of the amenities I needed for the night. The bed was okay, but honestly if you’re on I80 this is a great place to stop. The area is safe, as a solo female traveler, that is a must. I love that all of the rooms are inside and there’s no outside access. The lady at the front was nice, wifi was amazing, and even the coffee gets an 8/10 from me.

The toilet ran, the extra lock feature on the door was broke and to plug something next to the bed you have to get on your hands and knees to plug something in due to a built in shelf. Not good when you're old and cant get down like that.

- Charles60899 (2/5): SUB-STANDARD and GROSSLY OVERPRICED! - Having stayed at many other Motel 6 properties, I found this one to not only be sub-standard but grossly overpriced. For starters, the beds were ancient and creaky, worse than a 1950s film with flop-house mattresses. When either of us turned in the night, a loud noise would emanate from either of the double beds. The air conditioning was also noisy. The light fixture over the desk didn't work, there were woefully few outlets for charging devices. As there is no breakfast, no in room coffee maker (only complimentary coffee in the lobby in the morning) this room was easily more than double other chain hotels on our Iowa visit that included breakfast, some even with fully furnished kitchens, not to mention amenities in the bathroom. Bottom Line: Avoid like the plague unless you're one of the 1% who wish to see how the 99% struggles while on holiday.

Bathroom fan noisy when the light was turned on, TV remote wouldn’t change channels but the host fiddled with the cable and got it to work if you pointed at the TV above your head. On site restaurant was closed, but there was a Subway across the parking lot.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Terrible beds, sore backs. - Our room had 2 double beds which were very short causing our feet to hang in the air. The mattresses were terrible and both had a large depression in the middle and broken springs. We were told not to drink the tap water or use it to brush our teeth but not told why; we were given 4 small bottles of water for free.

An issue with the door’s bolt mechanism did not allow it to close properly and they did not notice. Spoke directly with the owner who was not happy with the situation and addressed it immediately. We ended up extending our stay by an additional day.

- 892frankr (4/5): Disappointed - The good: Very convenient as is right of of I-80 and is reasonably prices. Room is bare bones, but serves the purpose for (in my case) one night. The friendly desk staff promised to have coffee ready early for me and indeed did. The bad: Advertises an "on-site restaurant" that is closed. This was one of the reasons I chose this facility and, since the restaurant was closed the last time I went through, I confirmed it was one of the "amenities" listed this time. Still closed. SHOULD NOT BE LISTING AS AVAILABLE SOMETHING THAT ISN'T. Internet was spotty and sometimes unavailable. (I was in a room a long way from the desk/office). Room smelled vaguely of smoke--the desk staff said it was probably "drifting up" from the room below. I have stayed at this facility 5 or 6 times before since it is about half way on my trip to and from Denver. Given this experience, I'll have to think hard about whether I want to do it again next time.

We had to cross a broken out median to access the property. Gas and food were available within walking distance. Area was pretty quiet and we had a good sleep.

There is a Sports Bar with food at rear of building and a Subway up front. Well worth the money for a nights stay. Front desk man was friendly, Also pet friendly with plenty of grass to walk around in.
- Dwest2006 (6/5): Perfect for an overnight stay in a long trip - This is a Motel 6. It’s not a Hilton or Marriott!!! If you don’t understand the difference, don’t stay here. We checked in after 8 pm and the gentleman behind the counter was very nice. He offered places that we could go grab food. The restaurant attached to the hotel is NOT open. He said they are hiring a cook and hoping to open again next week. The room was standard. The thermostat was hard to get to a comfortable setting but we managed. We tried to open the window but it had a very large hole in the screen and the road noice was very loud. The floorboards in the bathroom and window sills need a good scrubbing. The beds are very low and somewhat comfortable. The pillows suck!! But when I asked for an extra one, they quickly got one for me. Coffee in the morning wasn’t bad. Tv is standard channels (no Netflix or Hulu). This is our second time staying here. Perfect for an overnight stay on a long trip. Overall, we would stay here again.

- nickelcitygirl (6/5): Off I-80 - We decided to stop here for the night after reading numerous positive reviews and seeing that this motel had an on-site restaurant...a big selling feature for us. After a long day of being on the road, we prefer not having to get back in the car to drive somewhere for dinner. As it turns out, the restaurant was closed, but I only found this out after we had checked in...and when I went to the front desk to ask what time the restaurant opened. The website had also advertised breakfast for a nominal fee, so, of course, this wasn’t available either. We ended up here on the weekend of Warren Buffet’s shareholder meeting in Omaha; because accommodation availability in the area was low, the price for rooms here was up…and more than what we were expecting to pay. Supply and demand! We had a second floor room, and there were mattresses leaning up against the wall in the hallway! No idea what that was about but not a welcoming site as we walked to our room. We had a room with two double beds, a microwave and a bar fridge. The room was clean, and I loved that there were no carpets. It was quite chilly in our room when we arrived; thermostat was at 61 and it took a while to warm things up, but then we were good! The hotel has a no smoking policy, but the hallway smelled of smoke and we had a burn hole in our bed covering. There was no shampoo or hair dryer in the room. These were available but upon request; same with an iron and ironing board. We chatted with the owner, and he seemed to be a great guy. He told us he’s had this place for 20 years!

Called the hotel let them know i was running late. And they told me they would inform the night staff. The night staff did call to confirm we were still staying there and we confirmed. The second the owner contacted us trying to give our room away because we didnt show up when he wanted us to after we confirmed. I dont recommend this place and will not ever stay here again.

- LindaAnnWI (10/5): A Surprise Visit! - A Surprise Hotel As seniors we travel on a budget. The night before we didn’t make a good choice and thought we would have critters to help take our luggage out! (We didn’t see any - just a feeling). Our stay at Motel 6 was great! Super price, clean and comfortable. Excellent mattress - just firm enough and a surprise recliner that was very comfy. Thanks Motel 6 in Avoca, IA!

- Luann (6/5): - The hotel is adequate and staff were friendly and helpful. Missing was what I would expect for $100/night. Things like a hairdryer and tissues in the room. Carpeting. More than one soap in the bathroom. Shampoo and conditioner. Towels that don't look like old gym towels. A bed that at least comes with an extra pillow or blanket and a comforter that is thicker than a piece of paper. I guess they're no longer keeping all the lights on at Motel 6.

Front desk person was rude and argumentative about it and tried to claim he couldn’t charge me less. Had to stand my ground to get charged the correct price.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Don't get your hopes up with this place - I have no idea how this hotel has such good ratings, my experience was really disappointing. Don't let your expectations get too high! I booked a non smoking room with two double beds, the room I got was a single double bed and a reclining chair that smelled like old cigarettes. It was not pleasant at all, I had to push the chair as far away from the bed as possible to not smell it. There was a fridge and microwave, but no alarm clock, no tissue box, no "do not disturb" hanger, and no towel bars in the bathroom. Bizarre. You had to ask for toiletries at the front desk, only 2 bars of soap in the room. My fault for getting my hopes up after reading the reviews. Will not stay here again.
