- novamom_10 (10/5): Perfect place to stay when visiting Clemson - We spent an evening at the Abernathy this past weekend while visiting Clemson with our daughter and it was the perfect place to stay! The location is ideal (literally across the street from the Clemson campus), free parking on site, great room set-up (giving our daughter a sense of privacy without having to pay for two rooms), and the staff were exceptional! Such a lovely hotel with incredibly warm and friendly staff who gave us food recommendations (take out from Esso hit the spot!). HIGHLY recommend. If our daughter chooses Clemson, we will definitely stay at the Abernathy!

We decided to extend our stay the next morning. Rose and Alli made it possible to keep our gorgeous room for an additional night. The Abernathy is filled with Clemson spirit and beautiful accommodations. Short walk to town. Great hotel bar and dining area when you want to stay close to room. Plenty of free parking!

We spent over 2 hours at TAPS and had a fantastic evening (luggage still by our side)! Zeke is an incredible asset to the Abernathy - he turned an ordinary night into something special.

- 510jennp (10/5): Tailgate Weekend Made Easy! - The Abernathy Hotel in Clemson is one of my absolute favorite places to stay in the area! Its location right next to campus makes it incredibly convenient — just a short walk to the football stadium. The staff here are so personable and accommodating especially the front office manager, Abi. She went above and beyond to help us organize our tailgate weekend. We woke up to find everything set up perfectly by our car — she truly made the whole experience seamless and fun. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable, and I love the thoughtful touches throughout the hotel. They had snacks out at the front desk, and during our tailgate weekend, they even provided football-themed cookies and cake pops in our room — such a nice surprise! I can’t recommend the Abernathy Hotel enough. Whether you’re in town for a game or just visiting Clemson, this place makes the stay extra special.

The staff here goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome, but I have to give a special shoutout to Abby, the manager. Abby truly sets the tone for the whole hotel. She’s not just professional, but also incredibly personable and attentive. In fact, the service and atmosphere seem to get better with each visit. The staff consistently go above and beyond to make guests feel welcome, and the hotel itself is always spotless. Our room was not only perfectly clean but also felt fresh, comfortable, and ready for us to settle in. It’s clear that attention to detail and genuine hospitality are a top priority at the Abernathy, which is why it continues to be our go-to place to stay when visiting Clemson. Cheryl and Sophia gave us such a warm welcome when we arrived at the Abernathy, and Cheryl was incredibly helpful in guiding me through the challenges of gameday parking with all the activity and excitement around the hotel. Sophia was so pleasant assisting us with everything. She brings such a positive energy and approaches every interaction with genuine positivity. Abi is truly one of the kindest and most accommodating people I’ve ever met. She treats us like family, making my wife, our three children, and me feel right at home every time we visit. I stopped in late one evening to grab a few soft drinks to take back to my room. Zeke went above and beyond—he not only got the drinks for me but also went behind the front desk to find a bag so I could easily carry them upstairs. He truly has a gift for making every guest feel valued and appreciated. We always look forward to seeing him when we visit TAPS, knowing we’ll receive excellent service along with great conversation. Zeke is an outstanding host whose genuine care and dedication elevate the entire experience at the Abernathy—this hotel simply wouldn’t be the same without him.
- catheed (10/5): Love it here - We’ve stayed at The Abernathy a few times now and each time we like it even more ! Rooms are large , extremely clean and nice and quiet . A restful nights sleep is always in store . The entire staff is professional and courteous but we have to give a special shout out to Abby the front desk manager who helped us to navigate a difficult situation with move in for our student at their off campus housing . Her response time with emails is fantastic as well as her willingness to go above and beyond . We will be back for sure ! Thanks Abby !

- SherylC498 (10/5): Awesome experience - Our organization hosted a happy hour drop-in in the hotel bar. We used social media for our advertising, so we were guessing at our numbers. Madison was our contact and she was a dream to work with. She put flyers at the check-in desk, and she was prompt with communication. She even took pictures during the event. We ended up with 52 people and the hotel staff were welcoming and professional. Madison created a fantastic charcuterie based appetizer spread for us and it was delicious. Zeke, our bartender, handled our guests with smiles and great conversation. He even had a signature cocktail for our event. I cannot say enough about the professionalsm and hospitality we experienced. There is such a happy vibe! We definitely plan to parter with the Abernathy again. If you are in Clemson, check them out!

To the bartender who was genuine and shared his own experience with his fathers passing, to the sweet ladies who worked the front desk, and to the very best young lady who made chocolate chip waffles with whip cream each morning that put smiles on our children’s faces. The entire stay at The Abernathy was incredible. The rooms were so spacious, comfortable and clean. They provided us with everything we needed to accommodate our family needs. I knew from the emails to Madi and her quick responses back to me that I had definitely picked the right place for our family to stay. Which help take some of the pressure off my already emotional state. Madi, words or a positive review doesn’t come close to the overall experience we received from you and the staff. And You should stay here too! - I travel often for both work and leisure, and I can honestly say The Abernathy stands out as one of the most welcoming hotels I’ve ever stayed at. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was warm, stylish, and fun. There was this festive balloon arch in the lobby and even a selfie booth in the lobby. Those were such a cool touch, and I got the best photos there to send back home to my family! You can tell a lot of thought goes into creating a memorable experience here. Meeting Abi and Madison was a highlight of my stay. (I think I spelt their names right, sorry if I did not but once again they were so so lovely).

Madison helped us reserve the room quickly and even stopped by to make sure everything was set up how we needed it. Super helpful and responsive! The lobby was decorated with a huge balloon arch and a fun selfie booth that our family loved—we got some great pictures before heading to the ceremony! I met Madison during our stay, who was behind the decorations and setup, and she also gave us a golf cart ride over to the ceremony. It really showed how much pride they take in creating a memorable experience. It was the perfect way to kick off a celebratory weekend!

Parking is great, and the location even better to get around Clemson. The entire staff was so nice to us from booking til when we left, especially Abigail. We brought our golden to the Abernathy and they are very pet friendly and everyone showered our fuzzy boy with attention and ample treats. Highly recommend especially for any sporting event as they are are right at the pulse of the athletic area.

My wife and I were very impressed with how well everything went, especially with the shuttle service to and from the game. Our driver Madison drove us on the golf cart and was incredibly friendly, helpful, entertaining, and full of great recommendations. It was one of those little extra services that made a big impact. We felt right at home, and we’re already planning our next visit!

Our Sales Coordinator, Madison, helped us throughout the process with special requests and checking reservations, and she was always quick to respond which put our minds at ease! The guests loved the location and atmosphere of the hotel. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not Worth the Money - The staff members we interacted with were very friendly and helpful, so no complaints there whatsoever, but we were less than satisfied with everything else about the stay. Our room wasn't clean to the standard it should have been. The sheets for the pullout sofa were soiled and stained, as well as the pillows, and many of the towels were also dirty. Worst was the padding under the fitted sheet on the bed. It was absolutely covered in hair, dirt, debris. It was gross! We were also kept up late into the night because of the people above us. I can usually ignore those things, but in this case it was impossible so no one really slept. This was supposed to be a fun getaway for my son's birthday, but it wasn't the best experience, particularly given the price!

The hotel is insanely convenient and always spotless. Room was spacious and comfortable. Only a brief stay this time but I’ve stayed several days other visits. Fantastic experience each time. Cheryl was so polite and helpful checking in and got to see Abi when checking out. Abi always makes us feel like family. The essence of Southern hospitality. And TAPS bar is the perfect place to relax after a long day of travel or local activities. A must when visiting Clemson University.

She coordinated our room block, helped us arrange meeting space with A/V setup, and even suggested a few local catering options for our lunch breaks. Everything was seamless. Madison was always quick to respond and super organized—she truly anticipated our needs before we even had to ask. It’s rare to find someone so attentive and professional. We’ll absolutely be returning for future events!
- Devin (10/5): - The property was very clean, especially for a pet-friendly hotel. The room smelled clean as soon as I walked in the door. The staff was extremely friendly. The lady that greeted me when my family arrived that night was great and friendly. The two ladies (forgive me I don't remember names) were great as well. They were also extremely accommodating by allowing us an extra hour before we checked out. Also, one staff member helped me take some pictures and completed connected with my daughter! Lastly, if you are staying for a visit to Clemson, this is prime location!
- 449mattyb (10/5): Festive fun for the family! - We were visiting The Abernathy during a special event weekend and walked into a lobby that was so beautifully decorated!! It really added to the festive vibe and my family and I loved it. There was an adorable balloon arch that made the perfect photo spot for me and my little sister! Later, I found out it was all set up by Madison, who clearly goes the extra mile to make sure guests feel welcome. Little touches like that make all the difference!

- christaw335 (10/5): Great Hotel - The room was very spacious for our family of four with two teenagers, comfortable bed. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. We loved that we could walk to Clemson and downtown. We would definitely stay there the next time we visit Clemson.
- 666brookel (10/5): Great hospitality, comfortable room - The Abernathy is an excellent hotel! The staff, and Abi in particular, are the definition of good Southern charm. They were super helpful and went out of their way to make my work trip to Clemson enjoyable. The room was very spacious, the bed was amazingly comfortable, and I appreciated having the couch, coffee table, and separate table/kitchenette area to to do work. I would definitely recommend the hotel and I will stay there again the next time I visit Clemson for a conference.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A+ service, minus the bartender 2/26 pm - The majority of the staff were welcoming, friendly and wonderful. The bartender and service the evening of Feb 26th was awful. He could not have made us feel less welcomed. We stood in the bar area for a solid 5+ minutes, waiting for the bartender to finish chatting with someone who was working on her laptop. When he finally acknowledged us, we asked for the food & drink menu. It was at 9:30pm, just after the Clemson basketball game. We were told, “food’s done at 9”. The bar and cafe/small plates is advertised to be open 4-10pm or later. He didn’t ask if we wanted a drink; he just said what he said and then went back behind the bar. Everything at the Abernathy was great. The male bartender that night did not represent the hotel well at all, in our opinion.

Location is perfect for walking around campus and sightseeing, especially since it’s a 5 minute walk to Memorial Stadium

- R5957TGjeffp (10/5): Hospitality and Charm like no other - My family and I stayed at The Abernathy in February to visit my son who is currently a junior at Clemson. Over the past three years, we have stayed at several different hotels in the area and in downtown Clemson. None of them compared to the charm & hospitality of The Abernathy. The rooms were gorgeous and every person we met was so accommodating and helpful. Everyone was fantastic but the absolute best was Zeke!!! He immediately made us feel like family. So much so my wife called him later that week to tell him our younger daughter just found out she was accepted at Clemson for this fall's class. He was ecstatic!! We will never stay anywhere but The Abernathy in our future trips to Clemson. When describing Clemson, people say "there is something in these hills." Well there is something indescribably special about The Abernathy.

Large bathroom and the whole room was super clean. Very close to the university and the stadium. Highly recommend a great experience.
