Amelia (8/5): - Lo que más me gustó fueron las tres jóvenes que ayudan en el desayuno, atentas a lo que necesites y muy agradables. La habitación limpia y cómoda. Se agradecía que pusieran unas horas la calefacción, porque por la tarde noche baja mucho la temperatura. El único inconveniente que vi fue el acceso a los enchufes eléctricos. Lo recomiendo.

Thomas (8/5): - It is a unique style of hotel in Turkey, and the style is pulled through the entire hotel. Good bed, sofa and bathroom. Room was comfortable and clean. It is located with a litle path next to the river that leads directly to the tourist center of Kars. Parking is part of the hotel. Taxi to the airport is less than €10. The main issue is not the hotel's own fault, but the river smells foul. We kept the window closed during the night because of it.

Rob (9/5): Superb - Beautiful hotel in an old Russian palace. My room at the back was very quiet. The internet is slow (and the roads are very bad) but you cannot blame the hotel for that.

Cath (9/5): welcoming and warm - The building was beautiful with flamboyant decor. Slightly quirky which we love! The staff were so helpful and friendly. The location just under the castle was absolutely amazing! Close enough to walk into town. The breakfast was really tasty with an amazing selection - lots of traditional Turkish food to choose from. Toiletries were provided. Such a lovely place to sit outside by the river and have a drink. In the evening there was a brazier and some musicians playing traditional music. Just beautiful! The WiFi wasn't great.

An iconic hotel thoughtfully decorated A perfect balance of comfort and hospitality! All of the staff went above and beyond to make me feel welcome and at home. I don’t remember the name of each one of them but they were all professional and nice always ready to help and assist. Miss Melisa, Ebru and Mr Erhan were extremely helpful with everything! Oh not to forget the breakfast was so delicious! What truly sets Katerina Sarayi apart for me is Niko (the cat) and the outstanding service! I may have repeatedly emphasized on the service and hospitality but having stayed in many different hotels around the world I’ve never came across such a beautiful team! Looking forward to go back! Suheda (10/5): Amazing - Everything. It’s a boutique hotel with great service. We stayed here for 5 nights and the whole staff made the experience amazing and memorable. They have special nights with entertainment which came as a nice suprise. The breakfast consists of the best local specialties. We had amazing talks at the bonfire, they helped us out with reservations, great tips and also warned us about the weather conditions. Very very helpful. Also the hotel is located in an historical building and the decor adds a layer too. A special thanks to Melisa and the hotel cat Niko. Everything was great.

Terrance (10/5): A unique experience - This beautifully restored 1879 villa is , as another review mentioned, as much an experience as accommodation. Ostentatiously decorated with soft classical music in the background. Thought I was in Versailles. There’s an outdoor garden next to the river where a fire usually burns and drinks are served. Great facilities, service and breakfast.

Odalar gerçekten saray odası gibi çok güzel ve temizdi. Nevresimlerin temizliği mis deterjan kokusundan bile belli oluyordu. İhtiyacınız olacabilecek her şey odalarda mevcuttu ayrıca.Kahvaltısı ayrıca çok lezzetli ve çok fazla çeşitliydi. Otelin bahçesi ve çevresi çok keyifliydi. Konum olarak da çok güzel bir yerdeydi. Çok keyif aldım. Tereddütsüz tercih edilir.

Lado (8/5): beautiful historical building, pleasant stay - It is a nice hotel, located in a beautiful historical building. The room was clean, staff attentive. Breakfast was quite pleasant too. The hotel is located in a lovely garden, car parking available nearby. Overall I recommend staying here. It is somewhat expensive for what it offers, most people at the reception struggle with their English.

Ani ve Çıldır için de ulaşım desteği verdiler, beraber çalıştıkları taksi var ve çok yardımcı oldu Ulaş bey. Otelde Sultan Hanım ve Melisa Hanım da çok yardımcılardı ve ismini öğrenemediğim kişiler de çok saygılı ve yardımcılardı kahvaltı servisinde. Otelin yeri çok güzel, merkezi, çayın hemen yanında ve su sesini duymak çok güzel (gerçi pencereyi kapatınca çok duyulmuyor). Kahvaltı da oldukça iyiydi, çok çeşit vardı ve herşey çok güzeldi. Genel olarak çok tavsiye ederim. Eylül başında seyahat ettik ve kışın yeniden gelmek isterim.

Kai (9/5): Superb - A House with history, situated quietly between River and Castle but within easy walking distance from the City. Very welcoming staff, a highlight of our holiday in Türkiye. Ground floor rooms open to the Hotel Garden with seating, so from dusk one has to keep blinds closed.
Metin (8/5): Kahvaltı bu konaklamaya yakışmadı - Kahvaltı ve derenin kokusu dışında sıkıntılı durum yoktu. Kahvaltıda sunulanların hepsi 2. sınıf ticari marketlerde satılan ürünlerdi. Yansıtılan otel kalitesine uygun gıda çeşitleri değildi ve kete dışında geleneksel hiç bir yöre gıdası sunulmadı. Lezzet yoktu ve ürün kalitesi çok zayıftı.

Samet (8/5): Authentic stay at the remote side of the city - The view was perfect. The bellboy was very helpful. We liked the way they named the rooms. We did not like the receptionists. They did not really care about our inquiries or the issues we raised.
Anna (10/5): Very special and beautiful place in Kars - It was a very special and relaxed stay. I spent 3 nights and I loved the location (near to main sights but secluded by the river); I had great quality of sleep; Breakfast was overall good as well; I liked the garden and the tea / coffee there during the day and the bonfire at night. The staff was wonderful and very caring. Few things to consider: -very weak WiFi (if I had to work- it would not be possible) -breakfast can be very simple or more lavish depending on how many guests they have and whether it’s a plate or a buffet.

Gizem (10/5): Modern Fairy Tale! - It was an accommodation where we experienced Kars province completely. From the moment we entered the hotel, everything was like a fairy tale. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The view was so beautiful that we watched it for hours. Our walk in the historical places around the hotel was very nice. In the evening, you can spend hours by the fire in the gardens by the river. The employees were very helpful and our conversations were very entertaining. Elizaeth (10/5): Hotel Katerina embeded in the natural beauty of the area. Friendly and helpful staff. - Breakfast was very good! The staff were friendly, helpful and always in a good demeanour. Sembra, Akif and Maskat were just 3 of the many staff who made us feel very welcome. The location is gorgeous. We were there in late October and the grounds were covered in red, gold and brown autumn leaves with a creek nearby. We enjoyed this view while sipping tea and keeping warm next to the brassiers burning with wood.

Sean (10/5): Absolutely excellent in every department, exceeded all expectations. - Our stay here was an absolutely wonderful experience. We were very late checking in and this was no problem whatever. In fact, they took their own initiative and ordered a taxi for us from the station. When we got there, they contacted a local restaurant that was actually closed and persuaded them to cook a wonderful meal for us. They got us a taxi there and the food was ready when we arrived. The taxi waited for us and dropped us back to the hotel 20 minutes later. They also arranged a taxi for us for the following day to take us from Kars to the border, crossing into Georgia at Sarpi. They honestly could not have done more or been more obliging. The breakfast was absolutely incredible and the hotel itself is truly beautiful. I could not recommend this hotel more highly, and I am very grateful to Mustafa, to Ibrahim and all the staff that made our stay so special. If I am ever back in Kars, this is the only place I would stay. Nothing, it was all perfect.

Otel çok rahat ve temiz, otelin önünde güzel bir çay bahçesi var. Personel çok cana yakın ve yardımsever. Yvonne (10/5): - We were treated as honored guests at this beautiful hotel. Situated less then 10 minutes walk from the centre of Kars, Katerina Sarayi is bordered on one side by a lovely garden next to the rushing Kars Stream, and a steep, rocky rise to Kars Castle at the back. This is fairy tale accommodation, with beautiful rooms, excellent breakfast and royal attentivenes /courtesy from management and staff. Drinks - hot and cold - were always available in the garden and the lobby is warm and cosy, despite the formal antique decor. The resident cat adds extra atmosphere. The only negative aspect was communication before arrival. I tried messages through Wotif and the 2 email addresses on the hotel website, which bounced, so I could not confirm the booking, payment details or make transport reservations. There is not much English spoken, so it was also too difficult by phone. It all worked out however, and we had a wonderful stay - thank you!

Lolita (10/5): do yourself a favor and book a room in this charming hotel when in Kars, you will be amazed - incredible service provided from the first moment till our departure by staff, most notably Ahmet who was very responsive to our needs, warm, kind and spoke good English, probidades great recommendations for restaurants and places to visit. amazing hospitality from the rest of the staff especially at breakfast! the room is full of charm, well stocked and very clean. great shower and impeccably clean bathroom. you cannot chose a better location in Kars, right by the river. the history of the building that has been lovingly restored adds to the hotel’s charm. 10 stars!

Ahmet at reception went absolutely above and beyond to assist with our stay, including assisting with transport options when information was hard to find. I’d stay here when in Kars every time. nothing for us!
Saji (10/5): Exceptional - The hospitality of the hotel was impressive. They sent a taxi to pick us up, when the bus dropped us 73 km from Kars. The room was very comfortable and the staff went out of the way to make sure we had a wonderful stay. The location of the hotel is excellent; on one side the Kars castle and on the other the Kars river. The dining hall is richly furnished. It is pleasant to sit on the lawn and drink coffee. The star of the hotel is Ahmet at the reception. He speaks very good English and is most helpful and friendly. We enjoyed talking with him and learning about Kars and Ani. The taxi attached to the hotel was very useful for 3 days in picking us up from a remote place, exploring Ani and Mt. Ararat and finally dropping us off at the airport. Overall, this hotel was one of the best we have stayed in in Turkey. This hotel is perfect.

Richard (9/5): Ahmet at the counter was very helpful in arranging everything that we needed. - The location is excellent: right at the historical center of Kars, but because it is behind the castle, it is isolated from much of the hustle and bustle. The staff bends over backwards to help. Historical building is amazing! Bathrooms were a bit tiny.
