Cristina (9/5): Soggiorno STUPENDO e autentico!! - La struttura è un resort in tipico stile balinese, molto bello e caratteristico. Abbiamo passato due giorni fantastici immersi nel verde, con uno staff decisamente gentilissimo, la possibilità di fare molte attività come massaggi e yoga e mangiare piatti tipici freschi nel ristorante sulla spiaggia. Abbiamo respirato l’autenticità dell’isola! Per chi ha il sonno leggero, consiglio dei tappi per le orecchie perché durante la notte, proprio per la sua posizione isolata nella natura, si sentono molto gli animali e le preghiere (canti) al tempio vicino.

Andreas (10/5): Great value, peaceful and comfortable place - Amazing place with very good energy in a quiet, rural location directly at the beach. Excellent value, comfortable and clean, beautiful yoga shala and pool. I also did some online work there and the WiFi was working great. Food was some of the best I’ve had on Bali, very friendly staff. There’s not much in the way of restaurants and shops within easy walking distance, even though there are some small places and convenience stores in the village, so it’s more for staying there and relaxing, unless you have your own transport or do excursions with a driver picking you up. It was perfect for what I was looking for.

Sashao (9/5): Awesome boutique property, perfect for a chillout time - The day we arrived we were uncertain if we had arrived at the correct location, it was a rare gloomy, overcast day and we thought we must have taken a wrong turn as the property is tucked down some lanes well off the main road but once we entered the property we were in a beautiful, tropical, relaxing, little oasis. Nothing really close in walking distance so i rented a scooter to explore the area. This property has a restaurant, spa and a great pool as well as being right on the ocean, be aware it is a pebble beach, not sand. Reef shoes were handy to get in and out the the sea. Snorkeling right off the beach was cool. Awesome staff! Ayu on reception, Wayan and Komang waitstaff and Made the gardener; made us feel so welcome. Great chef! Food was delicious. Nice a la carte menu for all day and they also do a chefs special set menu every evening which you can choose to partake in if you liked the sound of the local dishes; delicious and cheap! Small buffet breakfast for fruit, breads, cheeses, tea, coffee and then a dish ordered from the kitchen like eggs, pancakes etc very tasty. Would stay again. This location was the only property in my months travel that had a lot of mosquitoes but as long as you are prepared they weren't an issue, bug spray etc. Coil's were lit each night outside your room to help combat this also.

I had a group and the Villas were beyond our expectation and the Yoga Studio was FANTASTIC - amazing and beautiful and if you have a group, perfect to bring here to use this community space that has charm and beauty. The best is Ayu, the manager who goes out of her way to add all her creative and friendly charm to make our visit fantastic. Loved everything! As well as my whole group was very happy

I booked it based on their photos and it was even better. We used the massage services and we were truly happy with the ladies, they know their job. We felt pampered and exceptionally well treated. We went there to celebrate our daughter's birthday and they went far beyond my expectations making her day absolutely amazing and memorable!! The team worked to make everything perfect for us! The food, the decorations, truly Balinese celebration, hospitality and we felt they cared for us. We had great time there. N/a . Everything was perfect!!!

Nigel (9/5): Absolutely loved it here and the staff could not have been more helpful - The room was really lovely and we had one looking at the ocean. Food was simple but delicious. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Pool is excellent and they even set just the two of us up in the brand new and very impressive yoga studio for us to use every morning. The beaches on the north coast are not sand so really painful to get in and out of the ocean barefoot. Having said that I snorkeled straight in front of the resort and there was a ton of fish.

Irene (1/5): Terrible, walked out soon after arrival - Nothing we like about this property, false advertising and misleading Totally misleading and false advertising of the property. It virtually in a location that you are stuck without any transport and no walking distance to shops. We ended up walking out when we arrived even thought we paid for the 2 nights already and could not get any refund. We first asked to rent a motorbike to get around and was informed there were no motorbikes available to rent! We found that unbelievable as we were able to rent one from another accommodation we ended up staying after walking out from this accommodation. The double room was tiny when we had a look before we walked out. The toilet and bathroom are cramped in a tiny space. No proper sewerage as used toilet paper meant to go the rubbish bin beside the toilet. We expected better than that with what we paid for. Could not find any staff when we first arrived there and only after 5 minutes wait then someone turned up with drinks and no English! The whole place looked empty of guests and deserted. Would not recommend it to anyone at all!

Given the location was miles from nearest restaurant this was unsatisfactory. And the surprise 10% tax added to the bill at the end. Food options were a big let down for our whole experience.

The pool area was a perfect spot for relaxation, with fresh towels available poolside every day. The lunch and dinner menus offered a great selection of meals at reasonable prices. --- No juice for breakfast

The villa was wonderful I really love it, have my own swimming pool and the food they serve is delicious. The location is very isolated, they don't have sand beach to go into the ocean there are lot of stones and fishermen boats.

Any and all complaints ignored, unaddressed, and believe it or not laughed at. Room infested with ants, lizards, spiders and occasional wasps. Overall it's an operational nightmare waiting to explode and what's more shocking is issues flagged in comments in past reviews still exists today.

The entire place is thoughtfully designed including the pool area and the front beach area. The breakfast was very delicious, plenty choices. The diner also was fine, you would expect some fresh fishes as it's a Tejakula is a small fisherman village, but that was fine :) The stuff very friendly, and helpful. You have also massage-spa services, which was also good to have, especially when you want to relax ! nothing to say. Such a shame there were not fresh fish option on the menu :)

Dominiquewiesmann (7/5): Good - A tidy and small resort, but only the resort! Very remote place to unwind and relax. Room was good, a bit small with outdoor bathroom. The daily special menu they serve was AMAZING! Staff was lovely. This resort is only for people who enjoy silence and peace as there was not much around. And when we stayed there, there were only a few other guests. Very strong current in the sea and stone beach, made it hard for swimming. But the pool is very nice! Beach in front the resort was full of trash as well in the nature around. It's sad to see and we observed that locals just put their trash outside into nature. It feels a bit outdated here and there and needs some renovations. Especially the outdoor bathroom. Was very smelly from the toilets and worn down showers. And expect lots of ants sitting everywhere! :) including the toilet. You need to drive either yourself or get a driver organized to leave the resort. Nothing in walking distance.

We could rent a scooter and a boat trip got organized for us. We missed a kettle, tea and coffee in the room. Though it was provided after we asked. We really enjoyed the sea outside our window but would have prefered a sandy beach.

Maiken (6/5): Fredeligt, smukt og tæt på naturen - Vi boede i villa til 4 sati1 med egen pool. Resortet er et lille paradis og med flinkt personale, ligger lige ved stranden og ude i naturen omgivet af fiskere og lokal befolkning. Villaen er i god stand og fint rengjort. Maden på stedet er lavet helt fra bunden og deres daglige set menu er lokal inspirerede balinesiske retter med tun eller kylling. A la karte menu mulig som dækker mere kræsne børn. Massagen på stedet er vidunderligt. Stranden har sorte små sten/strand, dyb og med bølger, der er koralrev ud for hotellet men ofte er vandet for hvirvlet op. Resortet ligger langt ude og i naturen ved lokal befolkning det medfører nogle minusser som myg, kryb, frøer og en nattesøvn forstyrret af haner, frøer, morgen scootere og indkald til templer.

Superior double room a good size Set meal everyday and having to decide at 3pm but very little choice on a La Carte menu, very isolated, no where else to eat, no signage very hard to find when arriving even using google maps. Sandy (10/5): It really is five star for a three star price… - We read reviews about a hidden gem and absolutely agree.It is a beautiful resort amongst the palm trees but with lots of local kids, chooks and families on the beach. We did a sunrise boat trip with a local and had dolphins swimming along side😀 The food is good and the service excellent. There are other great places to eat nearby but you need to hire a scooter( very reasonable price) and we include a waterfall trip- no tourists, just locals! It was hard to find and needs sign posts. Snorkelling is not so good and the beach is black pebbles but none of this would stop us going again.

Simon (10/5): Bliss. Could easily stay here long term and remote work. - So many things to like. Far from the Instagramming crowds. The super warm welcome. The level of fine detail that goes into everything (hand soap wrapper is a twined banana leaf, flowers everywhere-even wrapped in the pool towel bundle, plug points in the beachside loungers). and of course the delicious food. I also had the best massage of my time in Bali here. Not a thing wrong.

And you can’t eat in another place become there is nothing around, so you have to endure it. The beach is dirty, hope you like plastic There is nothing to do around so if you don’t have a car, you have to stay No free juice or nasi/mie goreng in the breakfast (all the other hotels I done had it) You will be waked up at 5:30 every days because of the Muslims No fridges in the rooms (in order to force you to buy there over priced drinks) Ok, the global area and the rooms are beautiful but I won’t come back because of all I discribed

johndX3532ZM (10/5): Tranquillity - Beautiful peaceful resort set amongst unspoiled landscape beside a small fishing village in Tejakula. Beach and reef straight out the front with a lovely pool area within resort. More than enough day beds, lounges, hammocks throughout resort to enjoy the view from. Massages at spa were amazing!! Early morning fishing /sunrise trip with local fisherman a great way to start the day. Set menu dinners were awesome. Super friendly staff, nothing was to much trouble for them. Thanks to Rema for providing many insights into daily life and customs also local clothes and headwear to partipate in procession, prayers and blessing before Nipey day, an awesome experience. We will be back!!

Ingrid (9/5): Superb - Little paradies at the end of nowhere. We were the only guests, a bit spooky, but very relaxing. And the staff was nice, everything completely clean! Mostly every day power failure, low WiFi and often we need to ask for hot water in the shower. We were disapponted, that the owner never come along, because we would like to meeting him, to talk with him, who constructed such a beautiful place.
Maja (3/5): Suprisingly horrible experience. Temple, roosters - we loved it. The moldy smell in bungalow - hazardous. The manager sh - It was nice in 2016 - secluded, placed right at the stoney beach, the pool is very nice, but we do not recommend this place anymore. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. SMELLY BUNGALOW, ARROGANT ATTITUDE. We have been in Cili Emas in 2016 and we loved it so we have booked the same garden bungalow as then. We have payed after arrival, and then went to the bungalow. There was heavy, dump, moldy smell, and we immediatelly addressed it. We were offered another rooms, but all alternatives were a downgrade and we did not want it. We wanted to stay so we suggested we can try to spend a night in the garden bungalow but if the smell does not go away then we want to leave and get partial refund. There was no manager in the hotel, there was no possibility to talk or discuss the matter personally. After sleepless night with open doors the smell did not go away, we asked for the refund. Also - there was no internet in the bungalow, the mosquito nets were full of holes (it was fixed after complain by glueing adhesivr tape over all holes). We were told that the manager has not responded to our proposal of refund and that the hotel policy is that there is no refund option. We asked for the manager to come - not possible. We wanted to call manager - not possible. We have left as it was not possible to sleep in this smell and contacted booking com to support us in this matter. After booking com contacted the hotel the manager wrote us finally just to say that the roof was new and that it was our choice to check out early and that they keep the whole amount for our stay. After that no contact again. They have never denied the smell. Only said the roof was renewed recently. After our complain they have opened all doors and all windows in all other rooms, so the problem was real. The rooms we not ventilated, it is rainy season, so not difficult to get dump and mold. The bungalow was not prepared for having guests, and I do not understand why do we have to pay for this.
Indra2010 (9/5): BALI IN A NEW PERSPECTIVE - 1. Perfect location by the beach, secluded, perfect to experience a different Bali. 2. We had a great time spent with local kids on the beach. 3. Ira and the team are amazing 4. I'm vegan and have gluten intolerant. They provided vegan + gf option for me. We ordered dinner few times and their food and drinks were delicious! 5. Beautiful and very clean resort with touch of details and lots of facilities. Have a beautiful garden and poo. They even have a yoga studio! It's a bit far to go to the nearest restaurant.

Maryke (7/5): Check festival dates before booking! - Beautiful property. On the beach with a great on-site restaurant. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The resort is located next door to a prominent Hindu temple. Our stay coincided with an important, week-long festival. Prayers were blasted through powerful speakers from 7am in the morning until well past 10pm at night. Our last night it continued to 2am. Luckily the wifi is really good so we could use earphones and watch Netflix on our phones. Breakfast was also a disappointment. Some pale buns, a few slices of toast, cereal and one plate of fruit and veg for all the guests. At least, eggs and pancakes were made to order and were nice.

However the laid back an - tasteful with excellent landscaping/gardening; and placement of amenities. wonderful staff, and extremely quiet except for sounds of crashing sea. David (10/5): Cili Emas delivers in spades. - Cili Emas is an idyllic gem. An authentic village, a beautiful setting, lovely garden, pool and food. The staff are exceptional. Yes, it is secluded and almost hidden away but this meant that we could relax and relish the experience. Quiet, lapping waves, the rhythm of a traditional fishing village, morning swims in a sparkling blue warm sea. Great food available, especially the fixed menu at night, shared with the other guests. We had the whole place to ourselves for a couple of days but the service was still outstanding. The on-site massages are sensational and the opportunity to visit nearby attractions, such as waterfalls and the gorgeous mountain landscapes are readily available. Nothing! It was an unexpected delight. We loved it and will eagerly return.

(9/5): beautiful resort in the middle of nowhere - - the rooms with outdoor bathroom are beautiful - the pool is cooling and very big - the menu was very tasty - the tours and wellness offers are very nice - the staff is great - you are nearly completely dependent on the resort since it is so secluded
AlaskanSharon (10/5): Peace and wisdom is felt here! - The deluxe room was glorious! Cili Emas is older, so the gardens are lush and mature. The space has a sensory presence that feels like healing, serenity and wisdom. And I’m not one to ever sound that flakey! They thought of everything- when we arrived after a hot ride on our scooters, we were greeted with juice and a cold, aromatic cloth. It smelled and felt so good! At the room, we found umbrellas on the porch if needed, ear plugs by the bed if nature is too loud, two large water pitchers and glasses, replaced daily. The pool was just behind us, the dining hall in front, followed by the beach. The kelapas on the beach are a wonderful place to read a book and listen to the waves. We went to Les Waterfall and had a wonderful day out. Make sure to stop off at Gede’s Warung in the Jungle for great chocolate treats! The staff are so incredibly sweet and helpful! Thank you, Made and Sistri! And Made, the masseuse, will find the spots even you did not know about! Get the rebalancing massage!! After all that, The one hour+ drive back to Lovina is filled with beachside beauty!
emilbucholtz (10/5): Hidden Gem in Bali - We absolutely loved our stay at Cili Emas. The location is quiet and perfect if you're looking to get away from the part of Bali that is flooded with tourists. Rooms are clean, and not too small. The pool is nice, and there's actually sunbeds enough for everyone. The staff was so kind and always willing to help. Whether it was about arranging a daytrip or serving food at the pool. And they would even pack a lunch and water for us, when we went on trips. Those people working at Cili Emas, were some of the nicest people we met during our time on Bali. You eat dinner together with the other guests, and the kitchen decides what to serve - this is probably not for everyone, but we met some good people, exchanged advice with them on where to go, what to bring etc. and had delicious food every night - so for us this was such a positive experience. If you just want to mind your own business, this is probably not for you. But if you don't mind interacting with other people, you'll love this place. Only minus would be that the bed wasn't very comfortable.

carole (10/5): Super hotel - Hôtel super le personnel est très accueillant toujours à l’écoute. Il faut savoir qu’il y a un repas unique le midi et le soir préparé par des élèves en école de cuisine qui vous coute 135 000 rp par personne et par repas. Les repas y sont excellents et vous pouvez prendre des cours de cuisine avec eux. Le cadre est magnifique et très reposant vous pouvez également aller voir les dauphins et pêcher en barque.
Martin B. (10/5): An Oasis - Travelling to this place after a week on the south side of Bali was like arriving in paradise. Clean air, calm waves, beautiful scenery and no traffic! Here was the paradise island we'd hoped Bali to be, and which was sorely lacking from Denpasar and surroundings. The hotel offers numerous activites, from hikes to cooking classes and boating trips where you get to watch the sunrise and dolphins. The food was excellent and the rooms comfortable. If I ever return to Bali, this is where I'll stay.
daniel (8/5): Tolles europäischer Resort mit europäischen Preise - Super schönes Hotel und gepflegte Anlage. Kulinarium ist sehr europäish orientiert. Zweisames Abendessen ist nicht möglich - eine grosse Tafel für alle. Abendessen dafür, dass im Umkreis keine Alternativen sind, sehr teuer für indonesische Verhältnisse. Hotel ist mit dem öffentlichen Verkehr schlecht zu erreichen. Entweder laufen oder Taxi...Preise für die Taxis viel viel viel zu hoch angesetzt. Personal hat hier auch keine Bemühungen vorgenommen um den Preis herunter zu handeln.
OftenM (10/5): A retreat - Having spent a week in Seminyak, this place was like paradise. Everything about our stay was what I wanted out of Bali. Tranquil beaches, lovely food and great service. Not to mention all the options available for hiking etc. I hope to return here some day :)
askeu2018 (10/5): Great quite place outside the tourist area - I was there for 5 days with my girlfriend and we enjoyed the place. The staff was very friendly and the rooms/ pool were perfect. We got to snorkle from a local fishing boat arranged by the hotel and the hotels driver was great (when we went to see the batur mountain sunrise). The atms in the area take mastercard but not visa.
Vicente8 (10/5): A great place for relaxing - The North Coast is still wild and preserved, so the resort is quite isolated near a small traditional fishermen village easily accessible thanks to the signs and maps provided. The beach has a beautiful wilderness, enhanced by fishermen boats, hanging fishing nets and temples. The resort enjoys natural cooling from colourful tropical landscape and the sea breeze. Our bamboo house with thatched roof (called wooden villa) was nicely decorated, very spacious and comfortable. The front terrace with mats was the perfect place to laze with a book. The stone pool side was also a cool place to rest. The restaurant next to the beach was a great place for gathering with other guests and enjoy sunset and sunrise. The grilled seafood and home-made cakes were fresh and excellent. A very resourcing resort, in harmony with its environment.

238karinav (10/5): A spirit of loving attention to detail - Cili Emas is a wonderful place to relax and to enjoy nature and the sea right in front of the facility.The hosts Nicole and Jochen and their local staff are lovely and always ready to help and give advice. The rooms are cozy and decorated with loving attention to detail, the garden and the dining villa beautiful and the spa area with great pool, massage and yoga room made of bamboo for free use are truly unique. The creation of a great number of different delicious balinese and fusion menus is impressive, provided by Nicole and her cooking team with much dedication. We also stayed two nights in their recently opened amazing Desa Saya eco and luxury resort a couple of kilometers further eastwards. We have witnessed how much heart, soul and effort was invested in the design, construction and operation of this exceptional place. Warmest thanks for this marvelous holiday!
277KarenW277 (10/5): Little piece of paradise - We stayed at this little piece of paradise for 5 nights, and were fortunate enough to have the resort to ourselves! The setting is so peaceful and relaxing, with village life on your doorstep. Our villa was comfy, and the outdoor bathroom was great. The staff at Cili Emas were very welcoming and friendly, suggesting local attractions and organising our awesome driver Gede. The communal dining did not impact on us as we were the only diners each night, and staff were happy to be flexible with the menu and offer vegetarian alternatives. Loved, loved this little slice of paradise in the far north of Bali and would highly recommend getting away from the more touristy areas and exploring this beautiful place.
Mdoerfer (10/5): The paradise on earth... - We both said, "This was the most beautiful holiday in our life!!" First time on Bali, we immediately fell in love with this island. Cili Emas organized a perfect transfer to the resort. Mr. Gede is one of the finest humans we ever met. Absolutely trustful and kind! Cili Emas itself is a wonderful place at the north coast of Bali. The hosts, Nicole and Jochen are such kind and friendly persons... Because of the everynight (family) dinner, you have the possibility to feedback everything immediately. The staff is so lovely... Everybody knows your name and is willing to make your day the next perfect one... As a vegetarian, I had the possibility to choose tofu or other veggie foods instead of fish. I never had the feeling of being wrong as a vegetarian. After two weeks in the front part, we had another week in one of the wonderful Lombok in the back part of the resort. It was a great reccomandation and it felt like another holiday... ;-) Thanks Nicole!! For sure, we will come back in 2018. Please check out also the Desa Saya Resort. The brand new and more luxury resort just 10 minutes away from Cili Emas. We had the privilege to stay there for 2 nights as a special preopening offer. This place is absolutely amazing! Jochen as a planner and architect brings over 10 years of Indonesian life experience together with the German planning and organize precision. I promised his first international price for outstanding hospitality in 2018!!
anfaje (10/5): Lovely and beautiful hotel with friendly staff and calm surroundings, - My wife and I went here for our honeymoon and had an amazing stay. Our cottage was decorated beautifully and was very cosy and romantic. The food here is vegetarian but you can get chicken if requested, and it was all really good. We went to the spa at the resort and had a massage and we would highly recommend it. All in all a wonderful stay.
macka28 (10/5): Simply outstanding! - I almost cancelled this place due to getting there way too early and glad I didn’t! You are truly immersed oceanside in a Balinese village and having the locals all come down to swim in the afternoon was a great treat and you are not bothered in anyway, it’s all smiles & hello’s! The accommodation I thought was outstanding! There isn’t a lot of room but I unpacked my bag and utilized the cupboard and shelving provided and threw the bag under the bed! The staff were very happy and accommodating and had a great laugh with them. Let’s say there is no WiFi but I wasn’t there for that, I was there for the peace and tranquillity and that certainly hit the mark! The owners have finally had the submission come through for the internet and is under way, so if that’s your thing contact them prior to see if it’s up and running. Yes dinner is at 7pm with everyone else but not mandatory, but rather nice to sit down and have a chat. The frogs croaking, crickets chirping and the waves crashing on the shore only added to the wonderful ambience of this place. (These guys even provide earplugs if the sound of nature disturbs you)! I swear I spent like 2hrs at night in the pool just listening to nature and relaxing! Yes it’s a little more expensive for food and drink but you have nothing else around you and these guys do it well! Room has aircon, raindrop shower, soap, shampoo, conditioner, bug spray, and a mosquito net that wasn’t required but felt very romantic, especially if I was there as a couple. No tv, no radio! Just you, nature with a need to relax! Spa on site, a fantastic deep pool, yoga area and OMG I had an awesome dinner! Apologies for going on but I think the passion the owners have for this property and local village is simply outstanding and I so loved my night here and wish I stayed longer! The grounds are well done and please be mindful that all of these staff have been employed from the village and it’s not a city hotel and for most it’s their first job to which there are very grateful for and are eager to please. Escape the rat race and get yourself in here, you will be greatly rewarded! But after all it is what you make it! I wish you and your team well Sulis and trust I will see you in the near future. This lodge on the Ocean side guarantees full enjoyment of nature, 'sound of silence' and culinaric satisfaction. The privat ambient and lovely arranged interieur design is perfectly arranged and balanced to this wonderful place on earth and the service is as professional as it could be expexted from the German experienced management team. Pamky2014 (2/5): Not recommended - Cili Emas is nicely decorated but don't let that be the reason why you stay here as so many places in Bali are too! This place does not feel like Bali. The employees seem unhappy and stressed out. Everything is overpriced beyond other similar hotels. There is no music. They make you share tables with other guests, which feels awkward. I get the who communal table thing and I usually like is but given the general stiff feel about the place, it's not a good thing. The internet does not work in the rooms or at the restaurant. It does not work at all! Also, breakfast is included but you need to pay extra for coffee or fruit juice. Dinner was bland "Indian curry." Yoga is Rp 200,000 per class and you need to book a day in advance because they do not have teachers around. I would definitely not recommend this place at all. There is nothing good about it other than the decoration. You cannot swim in the beach either. Stiff, unfriendly vibe.
Janvantiggelen (4/5): A disappointment - We stayed here just one night at one of the houses in the right upper corner of the property. Let,s start with the positive aspects of our stay first. The staff was great and did genuinely do their best to make us welcome. Very friendly and service minded. The restaurant/living room was close to the sea and a nice place to stay in the evening. Breakfast was good with fresh baked bread roles. Swimming pool was small but very refreshing. Now to the less positive aspects. There are quite a few from our perspective: 1. Location of the house, in a dark corner, close to a wall with no view. Door can not be closed. Unpleasant, dark and dirty looking shower. 2. No air condition so quite hot and moist room. 3. Lot's of noise from dogs, chickens (starting at 06:00) and prayers from the village several times a day by use of megaphones. 4. Big cockroach (3-4 cm) in the shower 5. Dirty beach (rocks) and local town of little interest so quite isolated at resort. 6. Common diner for all guests at 19:00 with very limited option (chicken or fish). Quality of food rather low standard. We paid USD 115,- for one night which is quite high compared with other hotels/resorts on Bali.
