Guest Reviews
- Brian (10/5): I always stay here and it’s always great!! - Very friendly staff, great pool and hot tub
- Nygard (6/5): It is a nice hotel but would have expected a little more attention to detail for the cost. - The breakfast was less than I expected for the cost. Check in clerk was very accommidating. The room was clean and comfortable but did not provide any extras what so ever. Would be nice if they provided information about the facilities available at the hotel. Did not know there was an available sauna until the morning we left. Needed paper and pen, which the room had none of, and could have used an extra blanket, also unavailable. Breakfast staff unattentive to customer needs. Only guests in the dining room had to wipe our own table and go into the kitchen to request creamer for coffee.
- Salo (10/5): It couldn’t have been any better. - The breakfast was exceptional. There was nothing that I didn’t like.
- Ann (9/5): -
- Denise (10/5): - Clean and comfortable spacious rooms
- BJ (10/5): Good Getaway at a nice lodge. - Breakfast was very good. Staff was polite and efficient. The location is great so close to the Pine Creek Trail and the PA Grand Canyon. Great location for hiking and biking. We had no complaints.
- Jonathan (9/5): Pleasant but B- - It is well-maintained but lacks dining and bar facilities. It has a sister property a bit down the Main Street, the historic and somewhat shabby Penn Wells Hotel. Together they are adequate but not topnotch. They have country charm and hospitality. There is no elevator to certain rooms. We thus upgraded for another $100 to a king room which was fine.

- Sarah (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood. - Breakfast was very good and filling. I had scrambled eggs, sausage yogurt, O.J., blueberry muffin and coffee. The facilities were clean, well-organized and modern. The pool was large with a sauna and an attached weight room. The evening person at the front desk was very knowledgeable about the area trails and the canyon. There was nothing I didn't like.
- Kelly (9/5): Wonderful. Highly recommend! - Staff graciously accommodated us for early check in, and provided us with extra bedding as soon as we requested. Very clean room & property! Good breakfast. Beautiful area! Groceries directly across the street. Adorable town for exploring. My boys loved the pool/ hot tub/ sauna! Small things- hair dryer only worked on low. No napkins or paper towels in the kitchen area (but there were clothes towels). Bathroom sink didn't drain properly.
- Allen (10/5): -

- Roderick (9/5): Great Place to Stay in Wellsboro - This is an excellent hotel. It was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. It's located on the main street in town. I liked that it had a covered entranceway. Breakfast was mediocre
- Caitlin (9/5): Great stay! We'll definitely be back - The was a great location! We were within walking distance to all the great downtown shops and restaurants. The staff was so helpful with recommendations too. The breakfast was good and the kids loved the pool and hot tub!

- KIM (9/5): - It’s a beautiful place and clean The beds are not the most comfortable on a bad back. But otherwise I’m sure they are fine
- george (10/5): very enjoyable - breakfast was very good other coffee brand besodes starbuck coffee
- Harvey (10/5): - Beds are comfortable, pool and hot tub excellent way to relax after a long day, great staff, clean and excellent location. Walls are too thin and neighbors sounded like were in our room, just talking on the phone.

- Margaret (8/5): Overall the facility had everything I was looking for. - The staff was very friendly and helpful The bathroom in my room was small .
- Jay (7/5): OK but could have been better. - All staff were very friendly. Breakfast was Ok. Breakfast was OK but I expected better. Scrambled eggs with sausage was the main course for breakfast each day. The eggs reminded me of eggs in boot camp. Needs a pancake maker and cereal. Pool water was cold.

- Bryan (9/5): -
- Ann (8/5): It was acceptable. Bathroom needed minor repairs. - Breakfast was good. Couldn’t adjust the shower. Had to take a cold shower.
- Kelly (7/5): - The Lodge is always a great place to stay. It is close to many things and easily accessible. The pool is a hit with the kids. Very clean. Friendly staff. The beds were uncomfortable. Our room wasn't part of the main building. For us to get to breakfast, the pool, and gym we had to go outside. It made it a bit of a hassle with our kids.
- Stephen B (8/5): -
- Erin (10/5): -
- Jeffery (8/5): -
- Judy (8/5): - Cleanliness Gym weights are out of date
- Edward (10/5): -
- Wendy (9/5): Would definitely stay again! - Location to downtown! The pool and hot tub were very clean. Lots of area to sit for breakfast or to play cards at the tables. Our room was always made. Liked that we had two exits. The breakfast was ok for a hotel.
- Joy (9/5): Good - Room was excellent. Staff we less than friendly. Front desk staff didn't assist in going above and beyond on any level. Several staff we spoke to barely could mutter a word in return.
- Terri (10/5): -
- Ryan (9/5): -
- Martine (5/5): - Keurig coffee maker. Clean sheets. Heater was noisy and hard to adjust. No place to put shoes to keep carpet clean. Soap kept rolling into sink. Pool was cold. Lack of pool towels.
- Melissa (9/5): - Pool and hot tub were nice. Very clean. No microwave in the room.
- Jeff (10/5): -
- Stephen B (10/5): - The room was incredible. Very spacious and had everything I needed. Very good breakfast included.
- Méndez (8/5): - Que tenía dos puertas una al corredor del hotel y otra al parqueo.
- Shawn (10/5): I would certainly stay here again and would recommend to anyone needing a place to stay! - I liked that the beds were in a separate room from the living space and I was pleasantly surprised by the kitchen area! I had to use a clip to keep the curtains closed...would love to see the draperies updated that actually close all the way.
- Deborah (9/5): - Loved having a fireplace in our suite. Clean and comfortable. The breakfast could have been better. First day was okay. Second day was like eating leftovers.
- Susan (4/5): Stay here mult times, but need to upgrade, lower prices, and offer better options for bkfast. Pool hours need more flexi - Convenient location , friendly staff Room cleanliness, offering for breakfast, outdated and too pricey
- M8654CCdebh (10/5): Great place for R&R - Great place to stay. Has great amenities. The breakfast which is included was very good. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It was very relaxing. Hope to go back next year.
- Amy (10/5): - Everything
- Kristen (10/5): The stay was excellent. Breakfast wasn’t great, but we didn’t sat there for the breakfast. Would highly recommend it. - Staff was amazing. Room was beautiful. Should put up a curtain to the pool area so that people eating breakfast can’t stare at you while you use the pool and hot tub. Very uncomfortable to be stared at while soaking in the hot tub. The breakfast could also be a bit better. Eggs were runny and no bacon, only sausage.
- Roberto (10/5): -
- LynnA746 (8/5): Friendly staff; Nice pool/hot tub amenity - This was a nice clean hotel, great location for walking to dinner and pharmacy. Giving this a 4 star because the breakfast was pretty average. Primarily processed foods. But the dining area was very nice and open and lots of big windows and natural lighting. The staff was very friendly.
- Mark (10/5): - The location was great and the staff at the hotel was great.
- Jaymie (10/5): -
- susancP3304MP (4/5): Needs upgrades. - Stayed in pet friendly room for 2 nights. This Hotel is in major need of room upgrades. Chairs were visibly dirty. Bathroom had wood rot around the doors. Tub didn't drain properly. It looked like building had been hit by a truck and looked like parts might collapse. Location was good. Staff was nice.
- Haydt (9/5): - Location pool. Staff It was good!
- Heidi (10/5): So glad we could spend some time away and stay at such a nice hotel - It was very clean and loved the location! Liked everything
- Kim (9/5): - In the center of town. Large room with fireplace. Comfy bed. Grocery store and dunkin donuts right across the street. Indoor "heated" pool wasn't heated enough and only open until 8 pm.
- dianejL9514ZU (10/5): Great experience - We had a great stay at the Penn Wells Lodge. The room was very clean and inviting. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again when in Wellsboro. The only two criticisms we had were that the pool needed a good scrubbing and there were not enough towel racks in the bathroom. We had plenty of towels, which I loved, but only one towel rack didn't cut it. I still gave 5 stars because our stay was excellent!
- Amanda (9/5): -
- 958abbeyb (10/5): Excellent stay in Wellsboro - Great location in Wellsboro! Checked in at 7pm without any issues. The staff was very friendly and made check in a breeze. The room had everything we needed for our stay. The room was clean, the heat worked great (stayed in Oct), the mini fridge was great to store our snacks for our planned hikes in the area, the bathroom provided a hair dryer, and there were coffee and tea provided in our room. The hotel was almost full, and it was very quiet throughout the hotel and neighborhood. Although we didn't use the heated pool, jacuzzi or sauna, the facilities were clean and looked amazing. The morning breakfast was delicious - hot breakfast daily, eggs, sausage, oatmeal, fruit, bagels, muffins, English muffins, and cereal - great value! The hotel is directly across from a Dunkin Donuts and a grocery store - very convenient. The "Main Street" vide is charming with gas light lights along the street. Walking distance to local restaurants. Highly recommend this hotel when staying in Wellsboro or visiting the Grand Canyon of the East!

- jimpA295XN (10/5): Wonderful Stay - We can't say enough about Wellsboro or the Penn Wells Lodge. The town, the Lodge & the area are amazing. The Executive Suites in the "tower" building are extremely well appointed and huge with 2 large rooms. The staff is welcoming and truly go the extra mile.
- Joann (9/5): Loved the evening receptionist…great attitude and very personable❤️ - Downtown and reasonably priced. Somewhat noisy overnight. Could not get the Phillies on the lobby TV, even after 5 different people tried!!
- kelly (10/5): - Everything
- Young (10/5): - Locati9n was perfect for both biking the trail.and also exploring the town. Nothing :) great stay
- Stefanie (10/5): - Convenience to walk to shops, etc.
Clean, quiet and rooms were great!
- James (10/5): -
- Rick (10/5): A gem of a property in a cool little town. - We had a slight miscommunication with the front desk. After further discussion, the front desk recognized our issue and was very much accommodating. Thank you for that. What's not to like about the Penn Wells Lodge.
Of course I recommend this property.
- David (10/5): - Upon arrival everything went smoothly
- Jolanta (8/5): - Bed was uncomfortable needs new mattress. Also there were several marks on walls that a simple paint brush would have covered. Felt we totally overpaid for this room.
Staff was very nice and breakfast was quite sufficient.
- Dorothy (9/5): - It was fine-nothing outstanding
- Maryanne (10/5): - One of best lodge experiences ever. Huge room with two sinks, four chairs, private patio. Great shower and decent towels. Simple parking right outside the front door. Lots of restaurants and neat shops within a few blocks. Swimming pool, sauna, jacuzzi which is also available to community for a fee. Microwave down the hall to reheat leftovers that you couldn’t finish during last night’s dinner. The tissues weren’t the softness we prefer, but, hey, with so many amenities, who’s complaining?
I’ll recommend to friends and hope to return one day.
Decent variety for breakfast included.
- rob (10/5): - Our room was very quiet. The pool is large clean .and heated. The breakfast was good. Wellsboro is a beautiful little town that has shopping and lots of dining options and they are very walkable from the hotel. The hotel staff could not have been nicer. Great stay!
- Mark (10/5): - Will certainly return
- Culture652673 (10/5): Good location - Located in a good area that is walkable to everywhere in Wellsboro. Recommend early October to visit the PA Grand Canyon for great hikes and to see the leaves start to fall.
- hannahbN2610DV (10/5): Great Breakfast and Beautiful Town - We were grateful to have the last available room after a long day of traveling. The location was ideal, allowing us to explore the charming town on a short walk down the main street the following morning. The breakfast spread was delightful, offering a variety of great options to start our day.
- Charles (10/5): - Friendly staff, very nice facility with a good exercise room
- 811gerric (10/5): Wonderful place to relax & unwind after a full day - Our room and the employees were top notch! Comfortable and clean rooms. The Lodge was located close to downtown within easy walking distance to all the restaurants and shops! We paid a little more than we normally do for a room but felt it was worth it!
- theodore (10/5): -
- Maxine (8/5): -
- Elaine (2/5): - The carpeted floor in our room was filthy and sticky. In order to not walk on it in bare feet, we wore socks, which were black after only an hour of walking around in the room. The bathroom sink was surrounded by woefully inadequate space to put one's personal items (toothbrush, toothpaste, etc.) and the floor was also sticky. The motel was in desperate need of cleaning and renovation. Desk personal did not offer us anything in the way of compensation. Air conditioning unit was blocked by two over-sized chairs and a table, blocking cool air coming from it. NOT RECOMMENDED. Try the hotel one block away -- hopefully, that's cleaner and in better shape.
- Leesa (10/5): - My stay was excellent. I was impressed how clean the facility was. The breakfast buffet was very enjoyable. I will definitely stay here again.
- T4722QXthomasl (8/5): Always a welcoming hotel with great amenities. - The Penn Wells location is perfect...just on the cusp of downtown and walking distance to everything. The hotel atmosphere is inviting and the staff are very pleasant, helpful and gracious.
Room were well-kept and clean, although bathrooms in the older portion of the lodge were somewhat dated (but completely functional).
A full breakfast is provided with the hotel stay, which was very robust and filling!
We also enjoyed the full size pool and jacuzzi.
We felt as though the price was competitive, particularly given the fall season and the "leaf peepers" touring the Northern Region of Pennsylvania in the Fall.
- Jan (8/5): - I was very disappointed that the room we had reserved was a king sized bedroom on the second floor of the Motor Inn. The floor where our room was did not have an elevator. My significant other has back problems. We asked for a different king sized room. Unfortunately, they did not have another king sized room. We were forced to take a room with two queen sized beds, which was a big disappointment. They did "upgrade" us to a suite but I was much more interested in the king bed.
- Cali (9/5): - Friendly staff, clean accomodations, convenient location, nice continental breakfast. Liked everything.
- 315voyageur49 (4/5): Looks are deceiving - My spouse and I reserved a room for two nights on the second floor of the 2-story portion of the Lodge. At 1st appearance it looked comfortable and clean — this was NOT our experience. The carpeted floor was dark green and felt sticky under our feet even with shoes on! We made the mistake of wearing just socks to protect our feet and after walking around the room for just an hour our socks were black with sticky dirt (see photo). The bathroom had a small sink with very little space to put anything. Fortunately there was a small alcove on the sink wall to place minimal bathroom items. Even the bathroom floor was sticky. The air conditioning seemed to work but the room always felt humid. Two chairs and a table — over-sized for the room — blocked the air flow from the conditioning unit. The two positive things I can say is that the lobby looked appealing and the beds were comfortable. The only evidence that Housekeeping entered the room at all was the appearance of fresh towels for the second day we were staying. The beds weren’t touched.
The room was way over-priced for what it was. I told the front desk when we turned in our keys about the condition of the floor — they offered nothing in the way of compensation.
I wouldn’t stay there again and do not recommend it.
