- sandra (10/5): This was a quiet, natural setting with great food and accommodations, a good place to unwind. - The host and hostess helped us with luggage. They were available if needed, but not intrusive on guests' privacy. Several sitting areas, including an outside deck on all levels were available, a wide screen tv with many options for viewing, a large sitting area and kitchen table in the top floor room, plenty of hot water for showers, blackout shades, and a quiet setting in nature. A pool was also available. The breakfast was phenomenal with fresh apples and blueberries served with crepes. Food preferences were discussed upon arrival. There was also plenty of coffee, pumpkin bread, and wine and snacks in the afternoon. Parking was free and close. The grounds and country road allowed easy, safe walking. A golf course/club was nearby (not sure if it is open to the public) as well as the city of Roanoke with easy transit via Amtrak to Roanoke, but if you are not driving you will need a cab for a 15 minute drive to Shirley's Bed and Breakfast. You'll need to go into Roanoke for dinner, but it's close enough, about 15-20 min away.

- Alison (10/5): Beautiful - This place looks nice in the pictures but it is much more amazing in person. We stayed in the La Vista room which was massive and had a lovely big bed and bath tub. We got to see a family of deer having their dinner as we soaked in the pool. The owners were there to greet us on arrival and were both friendly. They provided sweet snacks, tea, coffee and wine and they cooked us a delicious french toast breakfast in the morning. We actually wish we had stayed for more than one night

The owners were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious! The bed was so comfortable that I slept like a baby! I wish they had larger shampoo/conditioner and body wash installed on the shower wall as most hotels do these days. We were on a long road trip and didn't pack our own, so the tiny bottles and soap provided were not adequate.

- Jay (7/5): It was a great stay except for the extreme noise and inability to be provided with any breakfast. - Beautiful location, clean, great ambience, attention to detail is evident Their website notes that in a log style cabin noise radiates. This, however, intensified sound. We stayed in the lower suite off the pool. A person walking normally over the floor was very loud as though they were stomping. There was a loud repeated popping noise, like a marble being thrown against lvp flooring. I'm fairly sure I heard someone tapping their toothbrush against the washbasin. All this late at night while trying to sleep. We were unable to partake in the breakfast as we had to leave early. Continental, grab and go breakfast would have been an added touch.

Our suite, The Lavista, was very large with lovely decor, a very comfortable king sized poster bed and a beautifully appointed bathroom. The views from the window of this lovely property were very nice and we enjoyed the heated in-ground pool. The hosts, Jeff & Cheryl, were very welcoming and made us feel right at home. Cheryl’s delicious breakfast choices and homemade bread items were a real treat. Full time availability of tea, coffee, wine, beer, water and snacks was an appreciated plus. Jeff’s collection of interesting cars was a treat for my car-loving husband. That we couldn’t stay longer!

The suites are large and beautifully decorated, and Sheryl and Jeff are perfect hosts. After a long drive to Roanoke, I was happy to be welcomed with homemade apple pie and a cooler of wine. The full breakfast (included) was a FULL breakfast!

- MICHAEL (10/5): - Mr and Mrs Bennett greeted is when we arrived, showed us around and let us explore. The property is rural, quiet, clean, and just stunningly beatiful. Mr Bennett is a car and motorcycle enthusiast, as I am, and he graciously showed us some of his favorite treasures. We are from Philadelphia traveling to see family. I'm now looking for an excuse to come this way again so we can stay at Shirley's.
- Victoria (10/5): Relaxing Getaway - It was convenient to the interstate, but tucked away with a beautiful vista. The accommodations were lovely. The beds were so comfortable and our breakfasts were divine. The owners were so nice and accommodating. We will definitely be back.
