Guest Reviews
- Sandra (10/5): - Wonderful staff and beautiful property. The rooms were large and clean. Restaurant was top notch.
- ingridcH3795FK (10/5): excellent!!!!! had so much fun!!! - this is the most wonderful place to stay dont expect it to be the sheraton!!!! however the staff is wonderful all around great pro shop course awesome i booked a block for next year price is great food is great rooms are great beds i slept awesome had a great time the place across the street was awesome for food as well the town folk are so friendly and even going to town was cool spit and your thru it so relaxing there my friend and i loved it!!!!! from Port Colborne Ontario you meet great people there!!!!
- DED195 (8/5): Clean and updated rooms - I was somewhat apprehensive about our stay here (in light of previous reviews) but there were not a lot of lodging options - fortunately, it appears that all of the rooms have been updated. Our room had a new floor, new bathroom and was very clean. The A/C worked (although a bit noisy) and the front desk staff was friendly and efficient. I would certainly recommend the hotel to others if needing a place to stay in Forest- I did not provide a 5 star review in that the lay-out was a bit odd- our room (on 2nd floor) window faced the hallway (therefore we had to keep the blind closed at all times). There was another small window at opposite end of room but faced parking lot. The hotel has a restaurant which serves breakfast (with plenty of options)- lunch and dinner also available.
- Larry (10/5): - I was pleasantly surprised at the size of the room. I liked the convenience of the open clothes rack and the room set up. I liked the size of the vanity and its position outside the bathroom. Perfect for getting ready in the morning. The fridge was more than the usual small room fridge. It was a very comfortable stay.
- ruthpZ6877VI (6/5): Disappojnting - The beds were very comfortable but the room didn’t seem finished. No lamps, nothing on the walls! Very austere. Only ceiling lights prevented one person to read while the other person went to sleep. Hated the blinds. Too much light in the morning. Also not aesthetically pleasing . Office staff were lovely.
- Shibu (10/5): Good value - Good value and customer service was excellent. Will surely come back. I had to cut short due to bad weather.
- jose (8/5): - Overall nice nights stay
- Yusuf (10/5): - Nice quite place
- Catalina (10/5): - It's a place where you call a getaway from the city..but a home away from home...
- SYLVIA (10/5): - Great spot, close to 402 and our venue and low traffic.
- Curtis (8/5): - Very clean room and friendly staff
- ed (10/5): - Friendly professional staff
- Kevin (8/5): - Good value
- George (10/5): - Everything meet our needs for our visit to the area.
- Kathleen (8/5): - Room was clean … staff was professional and kind
- Corrine (10/5): - All goo
- Rita-Jean (6/5): - I wasn’t greeting the morning of my departure 2gals were speaking to each other the one lady left and went about her business the remaining lady continued to write the specials on the board. I asked her if the dining room offered solely buffet she answered no one could order a la cart.
She still hadn’t greeted me or apologized for me standing there and made me feel like I was an interruption to her talk walked me to a table with attitude
I was left sitting till my partner arrived
By the time my partner came I had decided the atmosphere of the morning was off and I wasn’t going yo enjoy a good breakfast at your facility
Btw there was only 1 couple eating breakfast when I arrived
No excuse for poor manners
- Wendy (8/5): - Everything was great at the property. I only was a little upset that they wouldn't let my grandchildren and l in the room 30 minutes earlier. I know it said 4 but really. That has never happened to me before and the room was ready.
- Angelika (10/5): - It was out first time staying here, we love the fact that they welcome our “best friend” as well. With that being said, it was truly surprising how clean and well the Inn was kept inside and out, Very clean, quiet and laid back…We’ll be back every summer from now on!!! 5 stars ⭐️
- Angelika (10/5): - Excellent place to stay.
- Svitlana (8/5): - Excellent surroundings, lots of greenery to walk, several tennis coirts
- Pamela (10/5): - Convenient and well run. Friendly staff.
- Alysha (10/5): - The staff was very helpful and kind. The hotel it self is very nice but extras cost a lot.
- Lou ann (10/5): - Clean comfortable rooms
- Lorie (8/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at the Forest, Golf Club and Inn. It was clean, the right price, at the right location. It had all kinds of facilities that were wonderful, and we really enjoyed the balcony on our room. The only area of caution to note was that our room was on the second floor, and we had to carry our luggage upstairs after a little bit of a hike from the parking lot. Outside of that, it was worth that extra exercise that we gained for the price. Restaurant meals were wonderful and so we're the staff. another nice feature was having breakfast out on the porch, watching the golfers tee off!
- Sharon (8/5): - This is our third year going to Forest Golf Club & Inn and it wasn’t without small issues but every time it was dealt with quickly and professionally. We just really like the place. Like the smaller size and easy access to everything. Very quiet and enjoyable.
- Susana (10/5): - Would stay again
- Engelina (8/5): - The room was newly renovated and perfect for what we needed .
What was missing a garbage can in the bedroom and
some hooks to hang up our clothes .
- Karin (8/5): Pleasant - Well worth the money! Comfortable room with two queen beds and nice washroom.
- Florin (10/5): - Great property with updated rooms and nice restaurant. Professional personnel.
- ragnar (8/5): - The beds were confortable and the pool was amazing. It's unfortunate that some of the guests bathing at the pool didn't bother to read the notices and didn't shower before entering the pool.
- Samantha (8/5): - Pretty standard place. Restaurant on site is very good. Rooms are clean and standard. Definitely not new or modern, but does a good job. Disappointing hot tub is permanently closed
- Mc (10/5): - Rooms were updated after renovation. They were clean and perfectly sized. Staff was also kind enough to accommodate our request to have adjoining rooms. Pool was ok and sauna was available. Will come back next time we’re in the area.
- Samantha (8/5): - June 2023, just fyi, the hot tub is closed for the foreseeable future which is a bit of a disappointment. Pretty average hotel. Rooms are good, older style. Restaurant is veey good. Comfy and convient.
- Jim (8/5): - Entry door by the pool wasn’t working at a late time and had to go to main door to get in. A small inconvenience. Other than that we enjoyed our stay
- Amy (6/5): - Stayed for hockey tournament and hotel was great with our group and with kids. Would be nice if pool was open later then 8. The hallway first night was blistering hot and rooms were freezing. Beds were very uncomfortable.
- Keith (8/5): - The staff were very friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. It was off season. The hotel was very quiet. Local resident also enjoy the hotel restaurant which speaks for itself.
- gurtej (10/5): - very good location quite
- SandraD887 (6/5): Hotel needs attention - I would to start by saying that the food was out of this world. Amazing flavor and a big Thank You to Carol in the restaurant for being so nice and friendly. We did have some rain on the golf course but made the best of it. Nice golfing in the trees and nature and it did have some challenging holes.
We did receive a renovated room with a nice shower and comfortable mattress but there were issues;
- the sink did not have a pop-up stopper and we lost a toothpaste cap down the drain and I had to fish it out, luckily it was not a piece of jewelry.
- the view from the balcony was disgusting with beer cans, torn siding and mold
- the railing on the balcony felt like it could have broken with little encouragement
- the ceiling outside of our room door had fallen down and ceiling tile debris was all over the floor
- Doris (8/5): - Liked the outdoor patio with chairs. Liked the quiet. Room was spacious and did not have a carpet. Management had a repair done to the door when we asked for it.
Dirty towels which were not ours were left in room. Towels mot restocked. Otherwise clean
- Joan (10/5): - Staff were helpful and worked hard to address all our needs.
Facility very and room had been recently renovated. Dining room very busy but managed to accommodate us for dinner and breakfast. Food very good.
- SIDDHARTHA (8/5): - Nice property
- Catherine (8/5): Basic golf club hotel - The rooms have been updated since our last visit. Our room was very quiet and clean. Great location.
- Germinal (8/5): - I like the pool, a good size. The room was good.
- Justin (10/5): - Very nice place!!!Its like you back in time.
- Sharon (8/5): - We had a great stay and planning to go back next year. Would recommend the place to anyone.
- William (8/5): - Nice room, comfortable beds, good view of golf course and close to town Main Street
- Carla (10/5): Great, short drive getaway - Great golf, there is an 18 & 9 hole course. Well priced, great food, the front desk staff is wonderful - Laurie @ the front desk was incredibly welcoming!
Pet friendly - big park & conservation area right beside the property that’s perfect for walking dogs. Will return!
- Genevieve (6/5): - Accomodated request of a newly renovated room. Had a fruit fly invasion in the washroom. Staff were snobby. Would not stay again
- Andrew (4/5): Upgrade needed - There was cigarette butts left in an astray on the balcony, burn marks in the carpet and the rooms needed a major upgrade. Thiswas supposed to be a non smoking hotel.
- Barbara (10/5): - Staff were very helpful and friendly
It was a pleasant experience
- Chris (10/5): - Property had been unguarded nicely!
Staff very polite.
Dinning room food excellent with great view of the golf course!
- Tomas (10/5): - Great place with friendly staff. Rooms a bit outdated however very clean. Beautiful place with a great view to the golfing area
- J6110WUjoanned (10/5): Guelph Driscoll Group - We have been coming to Forest for the last 3 years we now come twice a year , the value you get for your dollar is fantastic the hotel rooms have been updated, the restaurant is still the same as it was the first year we came which is fantastic, the golf course is a challenge but a lot of fun. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
- Fran (10/5): - Lovely area lots to do.We especially like golf course and pool.
- John (4/5): - Reception staff seemed like they did not want to be there
No ice available and we were told to head down the street where we could buy some
While we were not looking for a change of sheets, beds were only half made in the morning
Breakfast for us was limited to 1 item on the second day as the cook did not show up until after 9:00
- Rina (6/5): - The place is under construction and had yellow tape all over the place.
For you not to go there .
It might be a nice when the place is finished.
- Mark (10/5): - It was on a golf course. Very picturesque. Staff very friendly. Excellent food. Bed comfy and clean. Lots of parking. Walking trails near by.
- 492tm (10/5): Wine Pairing Event, Great ! - Wine Pairing Event,
This experience was beyond expectations ! Chef Glen S put together an awesome culinary experience !
Truly delicious.
The guests were addressed before we started explaining the food and wine courses
then personally visited guest tables later.
The food was delicious.
Our table of 6 had not been to the restaurant at FGCC after this we will definitely return.
- Robert (2/5): - Didn’t get no sleep ppl pounding on my door all through the night and alarms as well. I should've asked for my money back to be totally honest
- Stacey (8/5): - Wonderful service at front desk very welcoming.
- lizhN3909OY (8/5): Clean and comfortable - Very clean rooms and hallways. Beds were very comfortable and had a good night's sleep. Considering there was a wedding and a Christmas function going on we were not disturbed in any way. Will stay there again when we come to Forest.
- Cathy (8/5): - It was very nice and clean; the beds were very comfy able. We just stayed there as we were attending a wedding in the area. We didn’t have an opportunity to use the amenities or restaurant but it looked very nice.
- Karen (8/5): - Will stay again
- IanMarilyn (8/5): - Good restaurant, some amenities, clean, attatched to golf course.
- Monika (10/5): - The surroundings are beautiful.
Excellent meals.
- Helen (10/5): - Staff were friendly and helpful.
- Ann (8/5): - we liked that it was pet friendly
- Lorna (6/5): - Staff was great! Room was a bit run down , hairdryer didn’t work , poor lighting very dark.. food was good
- Sheila (8/5): - Food did not meet expectations!!
Noisy Saturday night party in downstairs suite went on until 4 am and management did nothing to stop it.
Would still return and hope things improve as liked location and room was a good size and quite clean.
Thank you!
- Marina (8/5): Great getaway - Check in was easy. Our room was clean with 2 queen beds but noticed yhe air conditioning was not working. We told the front desk and they switched us to another room and everything was great. Service was great. Restaurant served amazing food so would recommend. Didn't golf but course looked in good shape. Used the pool, it was clean but showed its age.
- Patricia (8/5): - Seemed bit aloof. It is an older property of course. Happy for pool and golf. We might try again.
- Jill (6/5): - We didn’t stay there…we had to cancel.
No review is possible.
- brent (10/5): - Very friendly staff
- Thomas (8/5): - Was a great location so close to the beach, lovely pool which was wonderfully after a round of golf. Great value for the money. Good food offered in the dining room. A nice quick mini vacation without going to far from home (prominently 1 hr drive). Look forward to going again.
- Roger (6/5): - Location, the second room I was given was very nice. The first room however had an incredibly strong smell of cat urine and should never have been given to anyone in that condition, the smell was so strong I have no idea, how it could have been missed by cleaning staff and or management. Room 221, it should be checked.
- H6417TZtinac (2/5): Worst hotel stay in a long time. - This was by far my worst stay at a hotel. Run down, the bed felt lile plywood! The vending machine doesn't even work. Parking lot a mess. Can't speak for the golf but won't be staying here ever again.
- DAGMARA (8/5): - It was clean and beautiful grounds. It was a spacious room. easy access to ourdoors. comfortable beds.
- Michelle5052 (4/5): REALLY run down - Let me start by saying, my hubby and I have been going here for many years but this trip may be our last.
The course is still fabulous and well maintained but the accommodations have slid from ok to extremely terrible.
As soon as I got into the pet friendly room, an earwig squiggled out from under a hand towel. The curtains were ripped and stained. The handle for sliding door came loose and was broken when I went to pull the door open. The TV is old and not even HD. Everything was sticky especially the TV converter so I took a facecloth and used soap to wipe everything down.
I'm also not sure if they are short staffed but 80% of the employees were grumpy and not willing to help. They snapped at you when you asked for something. I even got completely ignored when I went up to the front desk. The girl didn't even lift her head to acknowledge my existence.
This used to be one of my favorite golf destinations but I will not be returning.
- Cheryl (10/5): - The only thing I would change is the pool hot tub hours. I would have liked them to be open an hour later.
- Yen (8/5): - staff were friendly and accommodating. The condition of the Inn was fine though there were areas (drywall/wallpaper torn and damaged in the hallway leading to main enterance) that were an eyesore and impacted the ascetics of the inn. The rooms were clean though quite humid. It was so humid that it made the floors seem damp all the time. Over all the amenities and staff won us over and we would consider returning.
- Julie (8/5): - The location is convenient and pretty clean. Staff are friendly and helpful. The golf ground is very nice and beautiful. The property needs renovation. The ground corridor is kind of rundown. The restaurant menu does not have too many choices.
- Hazel (8/5): - We had an issue with an alarm next door, receptionist wasn’t very helpful but manager completely change our experience and made it right. We did had a good stay.
- TOLOSSA (10/5): - It is a nice place to staying over.
- Ryan (10/5): - great spot for golf, in-town, and ipperwash beach
- Anne (10/5): - Staff are friendly and helpful
- Liz3141 (10/5): Best value accomodation in the area - Compared to what accomodation is available locally, this hotel offers excellent value. It has interior corridors, large rooms with two comfortable queen beds, an indoor heated pool, a hotel restaurant and a staffed front desk (between 7 AM and 10 PM). It also has solid room doors with double locks and solid (quiet) concrete slab/concrete block construction. Not to mention that the rooms are sparkling clean, it's open year-round, it's pet friendly and the staff is helpful. These amenities may sound basic, but they set this place apart from what's available locally. Good AAA/CAA discount.
- Elise (6/5): - The price was high for the room condition. In the middle of renovations and it looks old . Room was clean but very basic looking for a golf course hotel and the price. Staff was great and friendly and very accomplished.
- Tipa (6/5): - Nothing special.
- T6843MXarielm (2/5): Stay ANYWHERE Else - I don't know if I have a single good thing to say about this place. The only reason they get away with being so overpriced is because they are the only hotel in town. The restaurant here produced the blandest burger I have ever had, and my fries were cold in the middle like they had been thrown into a microwave. Speaking of microwaves, the rooms don't have any. The walls are thin enough that I can hear the people talking in the hallway and on the next door balcony at the same time. I don't know how often they clean the pool but there are bugs floating in it every time I go for a swim. You can get faster wifi at most fast food joints. If you have any mobility issues, keep in mind that there are no elevators here. If you don't have a car or don't feel like driving, the rest of the town with most of the restaurants is about a twenty minute walk away. The owner is obnoxious and appears to be disillusioned about the quality of his hotel and service. He fancies the tiny concession with maybe ten different items a "variety store". The other staff members are friendly and helpful. If you just want to go golfing or swimming, you can still do that here. Just find an Airbnb to stay at. It will save you money and trouble.
- tamiwallab (10/5): Trade show participant - Staff unbelievably attentive and efficient. All were very friendly. Went above and beyond to accommodate my needs. The golf course manager is professional and logical which is a pleasure to work with. I look forward to working with him and his staff again in the future
- PuslinchGuy (6/5): Still needs an upgrade - Back again for third year of golf. Golf course is okay but needs better maintenance. Hotel is still in need of serious upgrades. It is old, tired, and unattractive. But it is cheap, especially when packaged with a golf game. The stay&play deals are good value. The restaurant serves good food at good prices. The express breakfast is great bargain.
- Companion26649030899 (8/5): Mini Golf Excursion - Two couples took advantage of a Golf Now two day golf package and hotel stay. Package included one nights stay and green fees with cart at their on premise golf course and one about 15 minutes away. As per a number of previous reviews, the hotel rooms were dated, but clean. Service was great and all personnel were courteous and pleasant. Not a PGA course, but it suited our needs and we all enjoyed our stay.
- tjfrawley (6/5): Old motel, old rooms, food was good. - If you like the 70s, you'll feel right at home. Old dated rooms need a renovation. The breakfast was good. The service not the best. Finished my breakfast before a server came by. They seemed to be focused on cleaning tables in a mostly empty restaurant vs. serving the customers still eating.
- janetcO4694QI (2/5): Golf course - Poor Management by Andrew Palmer!, were there golfing a few weeks ago
after a storm went thru and the course was in such bad shape
It should have been closed until cleaned up. There was so much debris it was hard to find your ball on the fairway and green. He makes promises but never follows thru. Will never golf there again.
- 4ebab (6/5): Good time was had - Booked a 2 night 3 day unlimited golf package without the meal plan. Was an excellent time, greens are in good shape, fairways are like the sahara desert on most holes but thats okay, made my drives roll for days :) Rooms are pretty dated, they could definitely put some money into fixing them up, but after playing 45 holes a day I really didn't care about the aesthetic of the room. Food in the restaurant is excellent. Great place to eat across the street too and bonus you can walk to the beer store!!
- O1688SIbillr (4/5): Lots of rain excuse for condition of course. No rain inside hotel no excuse for shabby run down rooms. - Been there off an on for over 15 years, new owner recently major do over in dinning room and bar area on lower level, Kudos. Motel rooms have not been touched, our room sliding screen door to patio off track and away from frame. Dresser drawers off tracks as well looked like something you would see on the curb, thread count of sheets was single digit like gauze. Very very tired. Golf course greens were great rest of course needs serious investment like rooms. The entire staff was very gracious and competent. Part of the formula is there just need to spend $$$ on areas needing it mentioned above. Look forward to the progress!!! We were part of a golf group of 16!!!!
- Krvanwilligen (8/5): Silver stick hockey tournement - Was a great place to stay with the hockey team. We got out own group of rooms at the end of the building in our own hall. Front desk was very nice and quick to check us in. Food was great and waitresses very nice. Great price also
- PuslinchGuy (6/5): Hotel really needs an update - Visited for a stay & play golf package. Golf course remains very good value and a pleasing outing. Wish I could say the same for the INN. The restaurant & lounge were decent value with good food. The breakfasts are great with very affordable prices.
Accommodations, however, are very dated and tired. New ownership does not seem to have spent anything on the "inn" side of the resort (we were there last year too). Our patio door would not lock because the lock had been removed and not replaced. Pool and spa were a pleasant bonus though. Value was good since the pricing for the package was a real bargain. Vacancy rate was high, so this says something considering this was the high season. Staff was marginal, ranging from very pleasant/helpful to disinterested and surly. For the second year in a row the golf pro-shop staff was a disappointment. Fortunately the golf itself was enjoyable.
Inn is worth considering for but only if you get a bargain basement price. Golf on its own is rewarding if you ignore the shop staff. Pay your money/take your chances.
- brucemilne (8/5): Extremely pleased with our stay - were in the area for a wedding so I booked 3 rooms for my family. Contrary to some reviews here, the rooms were very good and clean, the front desk staff very courteous and attentive and the restaurant food was very good and affordable. No time for golf so can't comment there.
