I'm sure I'll be staying again when I'm up this way
- Kristin (10/5): - We stayed at LuLus the night before starting the C2C hike. The location is very convenient to the train station and within walking distance to several restaurants, and the trail entrance. Our room was clean and comfortable, and our host was welcoming.
- Karen (10/5): - Owner could not have done more for us. We were made to feel incredibly welcome and the room was perfect. Breakfast was great and we were able to access it at 4.30 before the coast to coast ride!
- Matt (10/5): - We were greeted in a super friendly and warm way and made to feel like true guests. Excellent space and facilities we'd definitely come back. Top marks
- Shaun (10/5): Very happy - Very friendly and helpful check in, room was comfortable and clean. Would definitely use again.
- Garry (10/5): Would stay again - Lovely greeting from the owner who explained everything fully. The room was comfortable, warm and spacious. Br⅝eakfast was great.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Landlady was very sociable and helpful. Accommodation was clean and tidy and bed comfortable. No cooked breakfast but plenty of everything else so no complaints
- Lynn (8/5): - Lulu was lovely and the rooms were clean and well stocked. We booked the loft apartment to have more room. She included continental breakfast even though it wasn't included in our booking. The bed was comfy.
Lulu's is a lovely old railway station with three pubs nearby. The village is very small but has a post office and a few shops. The beach is half a mile away.
- Chris (10/5): - Very comfortable room in interesting old railway station. Great value and lovely welcome from "Lulu" and her Mum. Very generous "help yourself" breakfast of cereal toast, tea and coffee at whatever time suits you. St Bees is nice to walk round: with pubs and a little beach with a kids playground and a very good cafe. Lake District is next door by car, and the coastal railway to Lancaster or Carlisle is a delight.
- Ben (8/5): - Couldn’t have received a warmer welcome, the venue is unique, located at St Bees railway station; the room was fab as was the giant bath! The trains arriving into the station directly outside my window were actually quite comforting, but maintenance being carried out on the tracks at 2:30am was far from ideal, awfully loud and kept me awake for at least an hour!
- ROB (10/5): Lulu’s - Great place, lovely people. Very good breakfast and very comfortable rooms
- James (10/5): Salt of the Earth - Lulu was a fantastic host and was very keen on making our stay comfortable. Its a small town lodging in a quiet part of the Lake District, so come to enjoy personable, relaxed lodging, not the Waldorf Astoria. Clean, quiet, breakfast if you care to, pubs and food close by with wonderful people to meet...a beach 5 min walk, fantastic country to drive and see...a great stay!
- George (10/5): - We had a large suite on the top floor which met our needs perfectly.
- Behzad (10/5): - A wonderful bed and breakfast with a kind and helpful owner, making for a delightful and cozy stay. Highly recommended.
- Blake (10/5): - A lovely homely place to stay before a job interview. Very convenient for the train station
- Dena (10/5): - Fantastic host. Warm welcome and very friendly
- Nancy (10/5): - Great starting point for our Coast 2 Coast walk. Lulu prepared wonderful lunches for our first day of the hike.
- Chris (10/5): - I needed somewhere reasonably priced for an overnight stay with an early departure. Lulu’s ticked the boxes. The place is really clean, really convenient & really comfortable. Lulu contacted me & explained the check in rules as I was arriving late, & then met me to ensure I had everything I needed. I’d recommend this place if you have similar needs. It’s in an old railway building which overlooks the station platform too, which adds character.
- Marc (10/5): - Cheap clean and functional room with fast (for west Cumbria) broadband. Friendly host
- Katy (10/5): A little getaway! - It was a lovely little place to stay and in a great location!
- Richard (10/5): Second booking at at Lulus - Always a comfortable night, very friendly host. If travelling by train you couldn’t get nearer to the station and a great selection of places to eat on the doorstep.
- Chris (8/5): - Lovely little B and B, very comfortable rooms with everything you need, excellent host, very relaxed atmosphere.
Recommended for a overnight stay
- Julie (10/5): - I loved my stay, Louisa did her best to make our stay the best, we had a problem with the light fitting in the bathroom but with the help of my husband we sorted it, the breakfast was lovely and she did a meat platter with cheeses on a board for everyone, there is also yoghurt, cereals, juice and bread and tea cakes, the breakfast room was lovely and we chatted to another couple as Louisa left people in peace to serve themselves, the only worry I had was the parking at the front of the property, there were 3 or 4 spaces only and they were tight so if someone parking next to you opened their door wide it would catch your car, my car was ok but I did worry. I would stay here again though.
- Stephen (10/5): Fantastic! - Lulu's is an amazing place. Spotlessly clean, lovely welcome, perfect location. Nothing to dislike!
- serdal (10/5): - All good thanks
- Andrew (6/5): - Has changed a but sunce ut was
- Scott (10/5): Spot on - Spot on great hospitality.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Hotels.com were a disgrace - Unfortunetly it was a calamity of errors, i must stress the owner louisa and myself bith tried to fix the problem but hotels.com couldnt careless, basically i paid for a whole weekends stay their and both both times it said the booking had gone through which it actually hadnt, so what should of cost me £180 for the full weekend ended up costing me £180 and i got no stay what so ever, customer services just pass the buck their favourite line is ... your payment will be back in your bank in 28 days, what good is that? They say they was a glitch so it cost me the entire weekend, the host louisa is lovely as is the hotel itself, its absolutely beautiful inside, just a shame, my entire weekend was ruined and have to wait 28 days to get it back, the way hotels.com have acted i wont ever use they ever again!!!
- Tim (10/5): - Perfect start to the the coast to coast especially as it was bucketing down and had to abandon camping plans. Breakfast and hospitality awesome - just don’t miss like I did - it’s right by the station when you get off the train! Remote check in and very Covid aware!!
- Gary (10/5): ery happy Customer - Great location with friendly hosts
- Heather (10/5): - Great place, ideal location for coast to coast and literally next to the station. Very nice welcome when we arrived. Very friendly and good local pubs to eat.
- terry (10/5): The best hotel in the whole county - This is a hotel i stay at that ive mentioned in previous reviews, i always book the upgrade room as you have a huge bedroom, private bathroom, and your own private lounge with sofa, tv, etc, louisa the owner is so lovely she goes out of her way to make your stay memorable, its also the little things like chocolates in your room, the breakfast room is all yours with everything in it just for you, louisa is such a great owner she makes you feel like your in a home from home rather than a hotel, its also really handy for the train station as its right next to it, this hotel should be twice the price it is, its such great value for money, louisa also has a brother there who also goes out of his way for you, i cant stress enough just how beautiful this hotel is, great hotel, great price, great owner, and fantastic price, what more could you ask for, simply the best!
- terry (10/5): Simply the best hotel in cumbria - Due to my work i travel and stay i a lot of hotels, but i can honestly say the lulus is the best hotel in the whole of west cumbria without a doubt at all, the room was massive, the bed was king size and me and my partner were even given the room that had our very own private lounge attached to the room, it was amazingly clean, and the owner louisa (lulu) was the best host i have ever had, she was lovely and even put us in the best complimentary hotel suite, we literally had the best time of our lives, the hotel is faultless, amazing hotel and an amazing owner who went out of her way to help, you will not find a better hotel room in the whole of cumbria, and i for one will be back there for sure, i would advise anyone in the area that needs a hotel to look no further than the lulus, the highest mark hotels.com lets you give is 10 out of 10 but i would of given it 11 if it was possibile, we were made to feel ( especially with the private lounge all to ourselves) that it was a home from, a truly beautiful hotel, in a beautiful area and with a fantastic owner, simply superb!!!
