Guest Reviews
- Larry (4/5): - When I checked in, the clerk/owner (?) told me they no longer accept online reservations from Expedia, so my Expedia reservation was no good. I still got a room. The place is in dire need of a renovation, clean up, new fixtures, and just basic daily care. The air conditioner didn’t have a cover; discovered the next morning the AC leaked onto the carper. Will not stay here again.
- Shane (2/5): - Reserved a room online. When we arrived our room wasnt available and ended up having to pay more for a double bed (supposedly the only room available) they advertised a microwave and a pool but unfortunately no microwave and pool was deplorable. Cigarette burns on almost every hard surface, refrigerator smelt horrible, dirty carpets, and shower was close to non functional. We were offered 2 towels at check in that stained yellow that we opted not to use. Would not recommend
- Ray (6/5): - The room was clean but there was no towels and only one sheet on the beds but we were hot and tired price was right so it was just what we needed
- William (2/5): - Paid for three nights a month ahead of time through Orbitz. I was told they didn’t acknowledge Orbitz transactions anymore and said too bad. Real jerks.
- William (2/5): - Arrived Friday May 5 to check in after paying and booking with Orbitz a month in advance. The place was empty, not one car or occupant. The front desk said they no longer use Orbitz and won’t honor my pre paid reservation. Awful!!! It was Kentucky Derby weekend without a room to be found.
After several hours, Orbitz got me a room elsewhere. Thanks Orbitz
- Kelli (2/5): - No pillows blankets towels plenty of BED BUGS. No refunds allowed we did not stay
- JOHN (4/5): - Carpet was stained and needed vacuumed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not good - Dirty and flies
- Melissa (2/5): - It was the worst experience I have ever had. Waited an hour for someone to come check me in. Pool was empty and trash everywhere. I ended up leaving and wouldn’t go back there for nothing. I would rather sleep in my car
- Jon (4/5): What a DUMP. - Asked for $20 cash key deposit. Pool was empty. Sheets had hair and stains. Slept on top of bed in clothes. No hot water in sink. Killed 6 flies had to buy Lysol to hide musty odor.
- Jenni (6/5): - It was ok, but the hot water on bathroom sink didn't work and we haf to get new sheets because the sheets looked dirty.
- Brian (2/5): - If you like a dirty rundown motel complete with bugs in your room, dirty carpet that hasn’t been cleaned in years; this place is for you. Also don’t forget to bring towels, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies because you will not receive daily maid service.
- Mark (6/5): - It was an old property that shows its age. Ptac units that were old and musty. It was a beaten up room with thin towels and stained sheets. It was cheap is the best thing said.
- Sally A (4/5): - Poor management, sheets were not clean, Pool not operating, windows not clean
- Robert (6/5): - You get what you pay for! It was really close to the ski lodge though.
- Marsha (10/5): - Awesome service
- Peter (4/5): Stay there if you have no other choice - The hotel is worth every penny that it costs to stay there, but not one penny more.
- Kevin (4/5): - Arrived late in the evening, no one available to check me in or answer the phone to allow for check in.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Reminiscent of a 1990’s slasher film. Swimming pool was mostly empty except for the green slime. Lights flickered off and on, air conditioning barely worked. If you’re a horror film or murder mystery buff, you’ll love the vibe!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Lots of bugs, stinky Air conditioning. Itchy bedding.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Took 20 minutes to find someone to check me in--the guest next door was far more helpful than thestaff
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The rooms are older, but clean. Everything works in the room. Staff are friendly. You will be required to pay onsite, as Expedia does not charge for the room and you are required to pay a $10 key deposit. Ok for the night or maybe a few.
- Johnathan (2/5): 0 stars - "King bed" was a full
Faucet dripped all night
Remote control only turned tv off and on, had to get up and change channel as needed
Flag pole with no flag banged all night long. Maybe put a flag on it or pull it down so buckle is not at top of pole just banging around.
I stay at dive motels often and my expectations are not high to begin with but this place sucks.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location and price, quiet site, respectful of privacy
- Penny (2/5): Disappointed - Was very disappointed in the room! We done a preview of room before checking in....we optef to go somewhere else
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Place was ok for price. Was very close to the mountain
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Outdated and not clean. I was worried about bringing my belongings inside due to cleanliness issues.
- glambarbie (4/5): - We were not amused to see, posted right outside, that the usual rate is $39.99 & we paid $60 taxes. Very, very basic, much more in line with the posted price.
- Boss (4/5): - Rooms are advertised $39 walk up, but $60 online booking. Manager said it was for standard room. But then gave me a standard room with a full-size bed. My reservation was for a king bed. The rooms are falling apart and poorly maintained. Door handles falling off, locks are very very cheap, cigarette burns on just about everything. Cords falling out of the wall outlets. Very few outlets in room. Had to unplug tv to plug in the microwave and so on. Mattresses aren't covered at all. Room smells like old cigarette smoke. Basically it's a no tell motel
- John (4/5): - There was no deadbolt lock. No plug in the bath tub,. No telephone in the room. No peephole n the door. The furnished bars of soap were nearly paper thin. There were holes in the bed sheets. No radio/clock was provided. This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed. The first room with no phone since 1987.
- kelly (2/5): - The fact that my father in law passed away and we were unable to make our reservation and I was not refunded my money. I think that is a piss poor way to run a business. I will make sure and tell everyone I know how horrible this motel really is!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Did the Job for What we Needed, but ... - Two comfortable double beds, a shower with great water pressure, and a working TV, microwave & mini fridge made our stay enjoyable and pleasant. Some disappointments were a pool that was empty and dilapidated in the middle of summer and NO internet access in our room (major setback for work I needed to get done). Staff was friendly, but not readily available as they seemingly do not get much business. The low price we got was better than those 15-20 minutes further away, but it was still TOO HIGH for what we ended up paying for.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Have Low expectations - I didn’t have high or even moderate exceptions as it’s a motel. It was the only thing available as the hotels were sold out that weekend. I was in town for a funereal so I didn’t have a choice. I asked for another pillow and it had a large hole In the pillowcase. The towels had a weird smell like moth balls. The room smelled like cigarettes and something stale. Luckily I only stayed one night. I’d advise taking a sheet, pillow and your own towels.
- April (6/5): - Staff was very nice, motel was clean, bedsheets were old with thinned out places and needed replaced.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Sheets were dirty and hair on them no towels in rooms overall was dirty wont be staying again
- Verified traveler (2/5): - How is this place still open ? Especially after bad reviews & health department been notified. Pls don’t stay there. It’s a dump.
- Ronnie (6/5): Yuck - I wouldn't recommend this place
- Bill (2/5): - Dirty place. Towels had stains all over them. No towel racks. Sheets were stained. Drywall patch's about 30 of them not sanded or painted.
Carpet was filthy, except where a queen bed had been removed. Sink barely had a trickle of water running in the faucet. Could not wash your hands. Shower was the cleanest place had plenty of hot water n pressure.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I like the fact that all rooms have a microwave and fridge. Nice little motel.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean and cheap - The motel was clean and cheap. The furniture is old. There were many spots on the wall where they had patched holes but they had never bothered to repaint. They required a $5.00 deposit for the key but I had to call to get someone to come to the desk to get back my money when I was ready to leave.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Didn't like the property at all rooms very small i would not recommend it to anyone People that ran it was argueing garbage all over the property
- Bob (2/5): Do not stay here! - Bedbugs, blood stains on sheets, and smelly room was more than enough to send us to another place, no more than 5 minutes after being in room. Originally had booked room for 2 nights, but found out a few days before the trip, that we were only going to need it for 1 night. Worked it out with hotels.com and the hotel manager over the phone, or so we thought... When we got there, the owner had already conveniently charged us for both nights on the card. Instead of getting refund, the manager gave us credit, good for a future stay. Won’t be using it anytime soon! Worst place ever, even for a cheap roadside motel!
- Samuel (6/5): - No rooms were clean at check in time so we got a bigger room for the same price but it smelled bad, carpet was all stained up! Beds aren't comfortable
- De (2/5): - We arrived around 6pm and were told our room wasn't ready yet and to come back in 20 minutes. Check-in desk was hot and stunk. We left to go get dinner, returned 40 minutes later. Unlocked our door to find a non-smoking room that still wasn't ready, reeked of smoke, and had blood stains on the mattress. When we mentioned this to the manager, he got an attitude with us and said we should have called to make sure the room we booked months prior was still available and that he couldn't do anything about people smoking in non smoking rooms. We demanded a refund and got a room elsewhere. Be warned - the same people who own this motel own the one across the street as well. Avoid at all costs.
- Mickey (2/5): Midwest Inn Should be Condemned - This hotel is awful, 1st thing I noticed was the pool was out of commission, so that right there upset me and my family.
When I went to get the hotel room key, the owner wanted to charge me another $5 for the key deposit, when I said I didn't have the cash he acted like he didn't believe me. I offered to use my card again, and he said by cash only. He left me go without paying for it.
Once in the room the smell was awful, it was a combination of mothballs and mildew. The phone didn't work, and there were only 3 towels, and 2 wash rags.
I immediately went back to the office to get some more towels, he gave me ONE.
There wasn't any ice as well.
Other guests were complaining that they had cockroaches and water bugs in their room......my family did not see any, and believe me we looked!
When the other guests were complaining the owner simply said "I am not the owner, I just work here." Yet his living quarters were behind the door.
- john (6/5): Interesting stay - Room was worn but clean. We had a wet floor by the fridge due to a leak. I was very disapointed when we tried to check out because the clerk did not want to get out of bed before 11am to let us check out. He would not even open the office door just put his hand out to take the key and shut it again fast. Rude.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I thought the motel was going to be just fine for the price I paid. Nice room efficient nothing fancy. But then I experienced the bed. Just laying in the bed without much movement ALL of the sheets , mattress pad would come off exposing the bare mattress full of stains. The mattress moved around this with the slightest movement and I had a deep concern of the cleanliness of the bed. I had to remake the bed several times through the night The bed turned this into a not good experience. Because of this one thing i wont return. I hope the management does something about it because it's a shame
- Connie (2/5): NEVER AGAIN - This was not a good experience and if we hadn't been stuck, we would have not stayed. We booked two rooms. We saw at least four roaches in one of the rooms. Both rooms are very out-dated with worn carpet, cigarette burns in the bedspreads, needing paint...but the rooms were also unclean with paper trash on the floor and long hairs in the bathtub/shower. There were also multiple stains on the carpet and chairs. The two queen beds turned out to be doubles and the king bed in the other room was also a double. The manager wouldn't even open the door to let me in when I was checking out in the morning. He left me out to freeze in the cold while he ran around getting my change (there is a $5 deposit on keys) and then open a crack in the window to make the exchange. We WILL NOT be staying here again...no matter how desperate we are. We will sleep in the car!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Room was small but it sufficed for sleeping - It was fine for 1 night. We needed to be near French Lick and didn’t want to spend a lot of money.
- Verified traveler (2/5): use to be a nice place to stay but different owner - new owners do not care about the customers comfort or satisfaction.I paid for king sized bed got a little larger than single would do anything about it
