• Filip (10/5): - We had an amazing time here, and it was exactly what we were looking for — a place far away from everything, peaceful and secluded. The surroundings are absolutely beautiful, with vineyards, wild nature all around, and that special kind of atmosphere that really lets you relax and disconnect. The property itself is stunning, full of charm and character, with a very authentic feeling. A huge plus for Fabrizio, who was an excellent host — very communicative, helpful, and great to deal with in every way. The whole team there was also fantastic: friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. They made us feel comfortable and at home from the very beginning. The food deserves a special mention as well — delicious Sicilian meals with authentic flavors and amazing quality. We would definitely recommend trying the meals there because they are absolutely worth it. We highly recommend this place in every aspect. It was an unforgettable stay and one of those places you simply want to come back to.
• T. Raveler (6/5): Disappointing - The room was clean and quiet. The windows had mosquito nets. The hosts try to please and take care of your needs. The property itself is nice and has a lot of potential. Perhaps the main reason for staying at an agriturismo is the food. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst meals that we have had in Italy, and it is in no way comparable to any of the other agriturismi that we had visited. We cannot in any way understand the good reviews. The food was not just lacking in taste; it also was lacking in quality. We felt that the flavours were not based on pure home-style ingredients but also on additives, such as Maggi or similar. The homemade decoration in the rooms that looked like from a grade school project. The dining area smells like smoke and cheap fragrances. The staff smokes around guests. The lack of warm lighting in the room. Only hospital-style bluish lights. The photos showed a TV and a stove but they were not actually part of the room anymore. The text-based facilities section reflected this but we trusted the photos. The beds were not that comfy. We didn't appreciate the polyester blankets.

Des personnes très chaleureuses, à l'écoute de nos demandes. Ensuite, l'emplacement au cœur de la campagne sicilienne offre une très belle expérience. Par ailleurs, la cuisine, renouvelée chaque jour, est de qualité. Nous avons pu apprécier les produits locaux pendant tout notre séjour. Gelegen in het mooie heuvelachtige landschap in het noordwestelijk deel van Sicilië biedt Tarantola een oase van rust. Petya, Filippo en Francesco vormen het team dat gastvrijheid hoog in het vaandel heeft staan en maken je verblijf tot een onvergetelijke ervaring. Francesco is de kok, bereidt de heerlijkste authentiek Siciliaanse gerechten en maken de diners tot een culinair feest. Fabrizio, de eigenaar en tevens sommelier, voorziet je van nuttige informatie voor en tijdens je verblijf en kan wijnproeverijen organiseren (Zeker doen!)

If you are looking for peace and quiet in the Sicilian countryside, this is it. Our room was very clean and comfortable and the dinner was amazing, couldn't have asked for more. Fabrizio heeft ook nog een leuke wijnproeverij verzorgd. Nogmaals dank voor alles! Zoals al vaker gezegd in de reviews, de weg er naartoe is bij slecht weer een kleine uitdaging. Maar dat zorgt er wel voor dat het ontzettend rustig en stil is rondom de accommodatie. Wat natuurlijk een reden is om er naartoe te gaan!

The rooms were large and comfortable. We added the dinner and the traditional Sicilian foods were so tasty! • Chris (10/5): Fantastic rural experience - You must go! Peaceful, delicious food and the kindest staff and owner. Must do the wine tasting and read the short book they have about the history of the vineyard. Support this local business ! Expect an authentic experience- rooms are very clean but not modern. The last part of the drive is on a rugged dirt road. At least 20 minutes to the nearest town. Bring some snacks for lunch. Breakfast is provided, dinner is available only at 8pm.
• Karl88lv (10/5): Great place to return! - Our 2 night accommodation exceeded our expectations. Fabrizio took great care of all communication and promptly answered every question via WhatsApp. The farm is located in a beautiful scenic area where no windmills are in sight, which we really appreciated. Fabrizio is not on-site all the time, but the other staff will take good care of you — just be prepared to use Google Translate if you don’t speak Italian. The wine tasting was so much fun, with interesting insights into the farm’s history — definitely take it if you can! The dinner offer was truly authentic and probably the best meal we had in Sicily. The menu changes every night, which was a lovely touch. If you’re traveling on rainy days, be aware that the roads leading to the farm can be a bit rough and tricky to drive through, but Fabrizio will help you handle that. We took some wines home with us, and once we’re back in Sicily, this is definitely a place we’ll return to. This is the rustic and authentic Sicily I highly recommend to anyone interested in Agriturismo. 0

Tijdens ons verblijf flinke regen boven Alcamo waardoor pad naar Tarantola heel slecht begaanbaar was geworden door de modder. Fabrizio heeft alles in het werk gesteld (en ons goed op de hoogte gehouden) om de weg zsm weer begaanbaar te maken. Bedden vond ik persoonlijk aan de harde kant.

Il proprietario dovrebbe investire e non risparmiare su cose che poi fanno la differenza: nel nostro appartamento mancava una zanzariera ad una delle due finestre, la luce nella sala era bassissima (mettere due lampadine potenti non costa niente), e la sera ci si vedeva pochissimo ed era impossibile leggere (vicino al divano letto nessuna lampada), e sempre nella sala non c'era aria condizionata. Doccia in bagno molto piccola, frigorifero traballante, nessun bicchiere tra le pochissime stoviglie... così non va.

Oda yeterli genişlikte ve temizdi. Tesis sahibi çok ilgiliydi, yemek için özel allerji ya da hastalık durumunu sorguladı. Şehirden uzak, yolda gitmesi zor oldu. Yemek salonunda bağ evleri manzarası karşısında oturulduğu sanmıştım ama manzara yoktu. Ağustos ayı gibi sıcak bir mevsimde bağ evi tatili planlaması bizim için doğru seçenek değilmiş. Otel boştu ve tek konaklayan bizdik. Öyle olunca önceki yorumlarda yazan muhteşem yemekler hamur işleri..vb lezzetler eksikti.

The location is peaceful and surrounded by beautiful nature — the perfect place to relax and unwind. Everything was impeccably clean and well-organized, which made our stay all the more enjoyable. The owner Fabrizio and staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming. A special mention goes to Chef Francesco — the food was simply outstanding. You can really tell he puts heart and skill into every dish. Dining here was one of the highlights of our stay. Petya was incredibly kind, always helpful and absolutely wonderful with the children - her warmth made us feel right at home. Filippo was also very friendly and made us feel genuinely welcomed. Our kids had the time of their lives playing outdoors and running freely in such a safe and open environment. It’s a place where families can truly relax while enjoying authentic Sicilian hospitality. Tried to use fan to cool off second room but not very successful. Food was disappointing and not a great value. Overall, it didn't meet our somewhat high expectations.
• Petra (10/5): Highly recommend - Amazing place to stay to escape crounds. We stayed for one night, but I would recommend few nights. The house is surrounded by fealds and vineyards. There were just one other family and us, so it was very peaceful and quiet. We decided to have dinner there for 25€ extra per person. Best decision ever! The chef prepered fresh food only for us. We had 5 amazing appetizers and 1 main dish with a bottle of wine. You can’t choose what would you like to eat, so it’s a surprise based on what fresh ingredients are ripe in the garden.

The host was fantastic and the chef’s dinners were out of this world!! A few more comfortable deck chairs on the terrace would be lovely.

We enjoyed aperitivo and dinner on-site and it was hands down the best food and overall experience we had in Sicily. We only wish we’d stayed longer. Can’t recommend this place enough! Nothing

We had an amazing whine tasting with the owner, Fabrizio. He is so very friendly. Also, the food is excuisite. Fransesco made sure we had the best food experience we had during our whole vacation. • Julian (8/5): Beautiful, rural farmstay, tasty simple estate made food and wine, warm welcome - This is a beautiful country farm stay, the surroundings are truly stunning, the rolling hills covered in grape vines, the weather in april as we visited was sublime. The breakfasts and dinners we had were tasty and filling. The breakfast was very simple, the dinners came in the form of many small appetizers followed by one main which were varied and interesting. Eating dinner with fellow travelers was enjoyable for the ambiance and sometimes the conversation. The room was spacious and comfortable with its own shower/bathroom. We were given check in instructions the day of check in by the host. The location is close to Zengaro natural reserve and the lovely beaches and lidos (beach clubs with lounge chairs) at castellammare del golfo. Overall this is a very nice stay but there are a few things to be aware of. The estate is 15-25 minutes from the nearest town, and 1:15 to 1:45 from Palermo and the airport. I sat out to enjoy our lovely view of the sunset for an hour and got probably 30 small bug bites (probably mosquitos). The bug bites were not paticularly itchy and were not painful but were a minor inconvience. Not sure if these bugs are only an April event. Lastly, our check in was a little strange, after parking we had to look around for someone to show us to our rooms, rather than being greeted. The host did not know much english but she greeted us warmly and showed us to our rooms and told us where to meet for dinner. This warm but somewhat lost in translation welcome continued through our stays and dinners.
• Nils (7/5): OK Agriturismo - We had a fine stay. The room was OK, no wifi - but this in the countryside. Good breakfast. Dinner was OK. Impossible to check in before 16 - this was hard to understand, we arrived at 15.30 anyway and the rooms seemed to have been ready for a while.

• Gintaras (10/5): The hidden gem of west Sicily - The vibes. This is the true nature that we love. The internal and external designs of the housing and the restaurant are beautiful and blend in nicely with the surroundings. Chef Francesco is the star of the dining experience, the breakfasts are plenty and dinners are just magnificent. We haven't had such great-tasting food anywhere else in Sicily. I recommend trying the dessert Cannoli(if you can make it to the dessert phase, because the portions are big). The wine that is made from the grapes grown there is tasty and unique. The place holds a long and interesting history. Make sure to hear that during the wine tastings.

The bathroom! the shower was a bit too small to our liking and the way it is planned out is not as comfortable as we would have liked it to be
• Jennifer (9/5): Simply a great escape from all the Hussle and bustle of the daily life. - If you want peace and quiet surrounded by nature - this is the place to be. This is certainly a home away from home as Fabrizio and his wife are very warm welcoming. Not to mention the traditional cooking which was delicious and abundant. We will surely revisit with our family. It needs a bit updating, especially the road leading to the property, however Fabrizio told us that it will be done in the coming weeks.

• Sybren (10/5): An very nice place to stay to enjoy the taste of Sicilian cooking at a very modest price - The place is an oasis in its own right. The location is quiet, the dining area is outside in a lovely space, feels like a true Mediterranean hacienda. The owner(s) are very kind and show great hospitality. Despite the lack of meal choice, there is no doubt that whatever meal-of-the-day the chef will prepare, it tasted great. Breakfast was plenty and tasty. The room was large, air-conditioned and albeit not the most modern look, it was comfy and quiet so sleep comes easy. Everything was up to standard for the price that you pay (room, dinner, wine). One thing to mention is the last part of the road to get there: we had a torrential rainy night and the next morning was a challenge to get away, back to the provincial road. Having experienced such a daunting task with my car, the owner was already supporting to clear the road, so the mud was quickly removed and safe to drive the next day. But this is really an exceptional situation and won't affect the quality of the place at all to my opinion.

Fabrizio, the host, was always available, accommodating and quick to answer any questions before we arrived. He presented a very intimate wine tasting of their farm's various wines. The Chef, Francesco, prepared an exceptional feast of authentic Sicilian cuisine, that was extraordinarily delicious and unmatched. He is a fantastic Chef. The meal was served by his lovely wife Francesca. A family vineyard with a lovely history. We can't recommend this property highly enough! We loved everything !

We loved walking through the vineyard - it brought the Sicilian countryside to life for us. We did a personal wine tasting with Fabrizio (so fun!!) and ate a fabulous dinner prepared by Francesco. He is a very talented chef! His wife, Francesca, works there as well. The breakfast was also wonderful. We felt as if we were welcomed as family. I highly recommend this place! Everything was great! The only recommendation I would make is another fan or extra AC in the upstairs apartment. We opened the door so the AC would reach the other room, but it was still a little warm. (We were there at the hottest time of the year.) Other than that, this place was amazing. The view out of the window from the upstairs apartment over the vineyard was exquisite.

• Daina (10/5): Absolutely magical and authentic place to stay! - Truly magical place in the middle of wineyards and mountains, very authentic countryside home. We were 2 families traveling together and stayed 1 night here. Both apartments has enough space for 4-5 people, every apartment has 2 rooms, bathroom, kitchen and fridge. One bedroom in every apatment has a tiny balcony with the most amazing view. At the evening came the chef Franchesco and made the most perfect and authentic 5 course sicilian dinner. Before leaving we also tasted the local wine and bought local olive oil. And very good breakfast was also included. I highly recomend this place to stay! As we stayed here from Monday to Tuesday, we were the only guests. The only thing you could possibly miss here in the hot sicilian summer is swimming pool. The sea is about 20-25 min drive away.

• Ruth (5/5): Weird mixture - The food was fantastic. We had plenty to eat even though we had chosen the 'light' menu - five starters and then pasta. Excellent wine which came in half litre jugs, presumably produced on the premises (they didn't speak English). the night we were there they were hosting an 18th birthday party. The landlady was very busy organising and laying up tables, etc. There was no welcome, we were simply given a key and shown the way up the path to our room, which looked like a lock-up garage. There was no fridge in the room, no bottled water and not even any cups (or plastic beakers) so we could get a drink from the tap. Neither was there a window, only the double glass doors let any light in. We came down for dinner to find the party getting going on the terrace. We were hustled inside and, despite asking whether we could sit outside on one of the tables away from the party, we were repeatedly told no. We were the only dinner guests in a dining room that contained only our table - all the others were being used outside for the party. We occasionally saw guests coming in to use the toilets.
• Lisa (8/5): Delicious local meals! - We stayed in Tarantola for 6 nights. The food was the highlight of our entire trip. We ate all our dinners there, plus a couple of lunches. We were very well fed by the friendly chef Francesco, who cooked delicious local meals. There were different dishes each time, hardly any repeats and each day was culinary feast. We also had a wine tasting with the owner Fabrizio, a lovely experience. The area is peaceful and very quiet, suitable for travellers who may wish to get away from busy touristy places. The property is in a fairly remote, off-the-beaten track location deep within the vineyards. It takes quite a bit of driving to get through all the small roads. The accommodation is comfortable but basic (i.e. no frills). There is no wifi in the bedroom, perhaps to encourage guests to switch off digitally.

The rooms were well-appointed and provided plenty of room to relax. A standout aspect of our stay was the incredible hospitality. Francesco, the cook and manager, prepared the most wonderful meals. Each dish was a delightful journey into local cuisine, made with fresh, seasonal ingredients that highlighted the region’s culinary traditions. Dining here was truly a highlight and we can guarantee that you need to have empty stomachs before each other. Fabrizio, our host, added to the experience with his warm and witty personality. He kept us entertained with a wine tasting arranged in the facility. Sampling local wines while taking in the picturesque views of the vineyard was a great compliment to experience the are. -
• Lindsay (9/5): A taste of rural Sicily - Our stay at Agriturismo Tarantola was very peaceful. The property was very comfortable and the staff welcoming. We took a walk around the vineyards and the view of the surrounding hills and farm lands is gorgeous. The cooking class led by Francesco was awesome. Would highly recommend. The food Francesco made for us was some of the best we have had in Sicily. Make sure you arrive with an empty belly, because the food just keeps coming.

• Mei (10/5): Must-stay to feel and embrace Sicily - I should probably start from the history of Tarantola - spectacularly entwined with that of Sicily - I read Filippo's book in combination with a day trip to Castelvetrano which gave a lasting and real perspective of the formative years. Filippo was beyond helpful in helping me figure out transportation and day-trips as I did not rent a car. Getting to Tarantola was an adventure, right at the top of a mountain surrounded by slopes upon slopes of grape vines. I imagine that during harvest there will be plenty of action to participate in. I visited just after planting so it was a lull period, but there was plenty of wind, sun, clouds and rain to enjoy the elements of nature. I was able to walk and enjoy the farm, the farmhouses, watch the wind turbines not so far off and interact with the staff. Francesco was a real joy to meet and befriend, he let me try my hand at making busiata and then cooked it for my dinner! Meal times are massive, you will be stuffed.

• Harlan (10/5): A highlight of our trip to Sicily, this agriturismo provided a rustic, serene and welcoming stay, with great wine and f - Very beautiful family-owned and operated farm with small intimate inn. Very rustic and serene. The owner was away but his son was a kind and wonderful host. Before dinner we did a wine-tasting with him. Learned about the history of the farm as well as the 5 wines from the property. Dinner was a 4-course feast. The chef is excellent and also a lovely person. We did a cooking lesson with him the following morning — totally fun and learned a lot. Made Sicilian pizza, croquettes, the most amazing mushroom risotto and a local ricotta dessert — and then got to eat what we made for lunch. We were there in mid-March and it was still rather cold in the mountains.
• Martin (9/5): True Sicilian country experience - Unfortunately the owner Filippo was in hospital but his son was a great stand in. As he is a sommelier we got a first class wine tasting. This stay was a true Agriturismo experience and with only 4 guests it still excelled in providing a superb dinner . Thanks to the chef Fransesco who excelled in Sicilian food. Challenging last kilometers to get to the property but our little rental car made it safely.

• An (10/5): Amazing experience in a Sicilian countryside - We've had one of the best experiences in the whole Sicily at this place, we were craving for a "farm in a village" experience, and we got it! the owner is incredible and super interesting person with a great stories to tell! he was extremely accommodating and waited for us when we were running later than expected, to do a wine tasting and dinner....and the dinner was fantastic! the best home cooked food we've tried in Sicily...all the space felt very home-y, beautiful green gardens with flowers and trees and dogs running around... if you don't want just a regular boring hotel, but thirsty for a Sicilian experience with wine, dinner, maybe a cooking class...def come here! and stay longer than 1 night :) buy some wine for the road and def enjoy breakfast overlooking the little garden outside, while enjoying your slow morning in the countryside... everything was fantastic

Although we understood it is a farm and fairly isolated, we were not prepared for the transportation challenges and expense for each trip to get to public transportation for visits to Trapani, Erice, etc. Recommend a rental car or private driver for visitors.

• Michael (10/5): Ideal Sicilian farmstay - Francisco, Filippo's chef, is exceptional for so small a venue. He varied our menu (3 nights) and asked for our preferences. The Testa family has owned this property from the 16th century and Filippo's love for the land is apparent. Hilly, picturesque views everywhere. Home vinted wines and olive oil. We recommend Tarantola to travelers seeking a farmstay experience. And the owner could not be more suited to his vocation. Conveniences are typical for farmstay, e.g. don't expect anything over-the-top. This exactly met our expectation. Breakfast was a little short of my likes but Francesco tried to meet our every wish.
• Francesca (10/5): Wonderful stay in a beautiful peaceful place with tasty food and lovely people (and dogs!) - A beautiful agriturismo in a stunning location. Filippo and Francesco are wonderful hosts - they are welcoming and make sure that you eat very well! Francesco is a wonderful chef. The place has a lovely energy about it and is ideally placed to explore the Trapani region - we visited Scopello, Zingaro, Segesta, Erice, Trapani, Favignana, Selinunte, and San Vito Lo Capo comfortably - looking forward to returning each night for a delicious dinner, a comfy bed and pillow, and relaxing room. We will always remember the happy and friendly dogs Luna and Sun and the little puppy - they make everyone smile!
