• Lori (10/5): - We had such a wonderful stay at Hôtel La Fiancée Du Pirate, it was hard to leave. Charlotte and Fabrice were incredible hosts, and we feel we gained two new friends during our stay. Our flight from the states to France was delayed over a full day, and when we finally arrived exhausted and hungry, Fabrice had fresh water waiting for us, and then he personally walked us to a local restaurant where we had the best pizza of our trip. We were treated to Chef Charlotte's made-to-order eggs every morning, they were a delicious way to start the day. Our hosts patiently took the time to help us navigate the local bus system, to make daily plans, and to find a good driving route when it was time for us to leave. Our room was spacious, well-appointed, and very comfortable for our family of four. As I said, it was hard to leave when our stay came to end, and we hope to visit again soon!

The property is well maintained and appointed with a refreshing pool and balconies for outside seating. And Charlotte, what an amazing hostess, so willing to please and educate on the area - she really extends herself to make sure your stay is delightful. Can't say enough about her.

• Patricia (4/5): Not a good experience. - I struggle to review this property as we did not have a great service experience. The female host is rude and not service oriented. Upon arrival and 2:50 PM, we tried to check-in after a long drive to get there, she informed us that we needed to come back as check-in was at 3:00 PM and our room was not ready. While I completely understand that we arrived 10 minutes early, she could have simply asked us to wait in the lobby or terrace for that time instead of turning us away. The lobby of the property is lovely with a terrace and bar area with a view. This is pretty much the only nice area of this tired property. The rooms are small and sparsely decorated. As a guest, you are not allowed to use this area unless you are purchasing drinks or food items from the host. She was extremely focused on money and purchasing everything from her. She hangs out in that area and talks about all of her "homemade goods" that are available for purchase. Breakfast, drinks and apparently some snacks. There is no menu for food items, so you really have no idea what is available. The second night we were there, we were extremely tired from touring all day and didn't want to eat out at a restaurant. We picked up a small pizza and went to sit on the terrace to eat it as there was a notice in our room to not eat any food in the rooms. She approached us and told us we couldn't eat there because she makes some "salads" for purchase. There was no menu or indication of this. She embarred us.

The brasserie and bakery near the hotel are amazing as well.

• Kim (10/5): - We stayed at this property for part of our honeymoon in May during the F1 Monaco weekend and we’re sooo happy we booked with them. I had contacted the owner in advance because I knew we would arrive early in the day and wanted to be sure we could at minimum drop our luggage while we went siteseeing. I was very relieved they responded quickly, and said they could accommodate the request. Even better when we arrived, they were able to check us in right away. We found the owners extremely kind and caring, ensuring we were well taken care of during our stay. They are knowledgeable about the area and helped us make the most of our short visit. We fell in love with Villefranche and will definitely be back to stay with them again. The views of the harbour from the hotel are spectacular and they serve a wonderful breakfast. Really good breakfast buffet enjoyed on the terrace each morning. Great value for money.. a surprise find & a lucky one for me. Little shops close by..patisserie, general store, brassiere etc. Can highly recommend.

Went to reception who was very helpful and contacted the boss to check if it was ok to move us to un other room ,which is what they did. Beautiful views from the hotel lovely swimming pool clean room and very helpful staff. My only criticism is that the rooms are a bit dated. However I would stay there again as the staff were lovely.

• Josh (6/5): Huge distance from the beach, station, and town - The hotel itself was fine - not either great nor horrible. The rooms were clean, if basic, and amenities seemed suited for what you'd expect in a 2 star hotel. However the price, and the hotel is advertised as, a 3 star, which still isn't the end of the world. However, DO NOT book this hotel if you intend to easily get to the beach in Villefranche-Sur-Mer. Hotel La Fiancée Du Pirate is located 20 metres from the border with Nice (you can see the demarcation line from the front door of the hotel) and there is a 25-30 minute walk up and down a large hill between the beach & train station and the hotel. Finally, they seem to charge you extra for a 'seafront view'. As far as I can tell, because the hotel is situated on a hill, there are only rooms that are 'ocean facing', although again the ocean is quite a long way away from this hotel. I'd certainly not pay extra for this "view" in the future, and I'd be surprised if those who didn't pay this surcharge didn't get the same view. To sum it up: service was fine, room was fine, view was horrible, distance to the town was horrible. Wouldn't necessarily visit again.

• Karen (8/5): Great hotel with lovely pool - Really nice hotel. Clean rooms and bathrooms, with aircon. Nice breakfast on the balcony overlooking the sea. Great pool and jacuzzi. You do need transport as it is quite a walk into Villefranche. Staff very friendly and helpful. Would recommend and return.

They also offer a lovely breakfast, but if you miss it, have no worries, you can still have. some delicious crepes with a cappucino. The staff and owners are friendly and accommodating. I can not imagine anyone not falling in love with this place like we have. On a side note, when leaving the hotel, if you turn left and walk straight, there is a wonderful little restaurant we ate at many times just a short distance away.

Very relaxed environment. Property may not be very easy to spot while driving so lookout on the left when gps tells you you’re near the address (driving towards Nice). It’s diagonally opposite the Esso station.

My flight was delayed and I called the hotel and they were so helpful and accomodating. The room and beds are spacious. They are newly decorated but the bathrooms still look a little tired. Perfectly clean though and I would stay here again. View is amazing of the bay

The staff is friendly and very helpful. The walk down to the harbor is certainly walkable but the trek back up is a bit difficult. We had a very good visit.
• Natalie (6/5): You get what you pay for. - A very basic hotel that is reflected in its price. We booked one of the few rooms with en suite facilities (who knew this wasn't standard in this day and age!!) though door to separate toilet in the room opened directly next to the bed. Clean room and great location for the town centre restaurants, shops and bars. Car park to front of hotel has to be paid for and can get very busy.
• Jane (10/5): Small, clean hotel with exceptional sea view - Stayed 4 nights with my husband and teenage children. Could not have asked for more. the hotel was located on a hill with exceptional views of the sea. Lovely clean (and warm) swimming pool with towels provided by the hotel. Very helpful hotel owners and staff - gave us towels for the beach and offered parasols, suggested nearby places to visit, provided maps, directions etc. All speak very good English. There are some rooms in the main hotel building but we stayed in rooms that were off the terraces - like a small apartment and were very clean with a very comfortable bed and en suite facilities. Although the hotel is located on the main road, from within there is no traffic to hear and it is very tranquil and calm. On each terrace were chairs, sun loungers, sofas and tables and it was very relaxing to sit out in the heat of the day or the cool of the night. Breakfast was great but there is also a boulangerie about a minute away as well as a very nice bistro type restaurant, supermarket, pharmacy etc. It is a very steep hill down to the beach and harbour - fine walking down but easy to get Uber, taxi back and I think there are also buses but we never took. Buses very easy to Nice and near by locations such as Eze - stop almost outside the hotel. We booked a week before travelling - very last minute - and could not believe our luck with this hotel. It really is a gem and would thoroughly recommend.
• Benjamin (8/5): A lovely two night stay - A lovely stay at Du Pirate situated in a beautiful location with a wonderful view. Arrived at the hotel slightly late but the owners were very welcoming and helped immediately with parking and showing us to the room. The room was basic but very clean and with a nice bath. The bed was very comfortable and the air con was efficient. The room was equipped with a kettle but a small fridge would have been helpful. There were some very comfortable deck chairs outside the room with a lovely view of the coast. The pool area was great with plenty of sun beds and a Jacuzzi (although did not use it). The hotel was a short walk down to the town but a taxi is recommended to come back up, especially in the heat of summer!
• Dino (6/5): - Room was poor and not as described on website. We had an unexpected charge of €60 to be paid to the local council. Would not class this as a 3 star hotel, more like a 2 star
• Verified traveler (10/5): Slice of Paradise on the Cote d'Azur - Situated in the perfect location for visiting the town and beaches of Villefranche Sur Mer, Cap Ferrat, Nice and Monaco by either bus or train, the hotel has fantastic views of the Cote d'Azure. Villefranche and Nice are both accessible on foot. The owners Laurence and Eric supported by Andre and Victoria are so welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble and their personal touch really does makes this hotel something special. The hotel boasts a small swimming pool which is a much sought after facility in this exclusive area.
• Anna (10/5): Cute little hotel. Good value! - We spent 2 nights here while traveling through the Soutb of France. Lovely hotel! A bit hard to find but it’s more due to the trickiness of local roads. Great owners, nice view, good value for the price. You probably would need a car if you want to explore around - there is so much to explore! The town is beautiful and there are few stunning beaches around the area.
• E (8/5): Up the hill with great views lovely pool - The hotel is up the hill from the port area and has amazing views and a great pool. The staff is the best part here so friendly, helpful and kind. The room we were is was good it not super luxurious but the view, staff ease to get places with car, Uber or taxi. Not in the walking hub if that’s what you are looking for however.
• Martyna (10/5): Lovely Gem in Villefranche-sur-Mer! - Highly recommended hotel - definitely deserves more than 3 stars!!! The staff is lovely, the hotel is very clean and newly furnished, and the views are breathtaking! Everything you need is near the hotel - Pharmacy, Casino Grocery Store, Gas station and the walk down into town is only 15m through beautiful winding streets. We hope to be back soon!
• Paul (10/5): Simple but lovely family-run hotel. - Simple but lovely family-run hotel with a great view from the terrace. This quiet hideaway hotel is a few miles from the hustle and bustle of Nice but still conveniently located. Small grocery store is just a couple of blocks away along with a nice restaurant.
• John (10/5): First class! - Excellent in all areas. The owners Erique and Laurence were fantastic hosts who delivered impeccable personal service in a serene and stylish oasis.
• Paula (10/5): - The hotel is up on the middle corniche, a long, steep climb from the waterfront. It doesn't look like much from the street. But once inside, it has a spectacular, very welcoming common area with views to the sea. The rooms are somewhat spartan, but very clean, comfortable and spacious. The staff was very friendly, and the best breakfast we've had in France. Easy access if driving.

• Yoonjung (10/5): Wonderful hotel with nice view of the beach - It was such a therapeutic stay at the hotel. Hotel was quiet and clean with beautiful overview of the beach. The staffs were all kind and were able to offer their help in english.

• Verified traveler (10/5): A wonderful hotel, convenient welcoming, perfect! - Nothing is too much trouble, a warm welcome, lovely and convenient setting and a view to die for. Added bonus of a small pool and Jacuzzi. I would thoroughly recommend this gem to anyone!
• Margaret (10/5): - Lovely hotel and staff could not be have been more helpful. Unusual to get a cooked breakfast included in France - the crepes were a nice touch. Would definitely recommend. You do need a taxi to old town and back - or we did - steep hills.
• Rosemary (4/5): Not clean and rooms need remodeling! - The area was nice and view was Beautiful! The room was very small and not very clean, the baseboards in room had not been cleaned and very dirty! The lady that ran the hotel seemed to be offended if you ask her anything?
• Rich (8/5): Good basic place in a convenient location - The hotel is very comfortable. There is a nice swimming pool, good breakfast and excellent, helpful staff. The location is between Nice and Monaco and driving to either is very easy. The hotel has some good nearby food choices and there are excellent restaurants down the hill, next to the water in the village of Villefranche.
• LYN (10/5): La Fiancée du Pirate was fantastic! - The hotel has a fantastic view of the port. The sparkling pool is spotless and inviting. It's up the hill from town but there's a few cafes, boulangerie and food store right next door. I chose it because it was affordable and had a pool. The staff was amazing, very friendly family operated hotel with delicious breakfast and bar. I will stay here again for sure!
• Stefanie (10/5): Stunning, welcoming and comfortable place to stay - We absolutely loved our stay here - rooms were gorgeous and the views from the bar/pool were to die for. Super helpful guys working there and we headed into Villefranche a couple of times for dinner - a steep hill, but brilliant restaurants! Easy to get the bus to Nice too. I would definitely go back and recommend to my friends.
• hugh (10/5): PREFECT STAY - We stayed here for 3 nts. before moving to a villa for a week with other friends. Had never tried this place but i am sure that we will return. We travel to this area each year for the past 10 and love finding hidden gems. This is one of those gems The staff was both helpful and friendly and speaks good English. Also it is very convenient to stores and food shops. Pool and spa were great and very quiet to the surrounding area.
• Adrian (10/5): A Lovely quiet hotel 10 minutes from the Old Town - Lovely hotel just outside the hustle and bustle of Nice. Beautiful view from our room looking over Villefranche sur-mer and the bay below. The Owners were incredibly helpful and friendly and always happy to advise on the local area including the best ways to get transport around. The room we had was spacious, bright and well ventilated (we didn't need aircon with the natural breeze), and clean.
