- Trevor (8/5): The Royal is a well run Hotel and restaurant. - We like the Royal very much. Lighting in the room.
- peter (10/5): An excellent hotel in Heysham - Everything. The staff were very helpful and friendly The food was excellent and plenty full. A really excellent location for the ferry to the IOM. If we were in this area again I would not hesitate to book this hotel again Nothing
- Diane (10/5): - Such a beautiful village, The Royal is such a lovely hotel/pub, enjoy my weekends here We was woken up at 2.45 am with disrespectful residents drunk , banging on the front door, no doubt forgot their key or code to get in , dont need people like that coming to this lovely village , but it wasnt the hotels fault
- pete (10/5): -
- Fay (8/5): Lovely hotel but more check in info needed - The room was lovely and the continental breakfast was great. Staff were friendly too. We got locked out the building at around 11pm without being told this would happen. The fob on the keys didn't work and no one answered the pub door. We eventually found a bathroom we walked through to get inside.
- Stephen (10/5): An Old-fashioned Village Inn with Modern Day comforts - A charming hotel with a lovely, extensive beer garden. The Royal seems to be at the centre of social life in this small, historic village and is a popular venue in the wider area. A stone's throw from the sea and within easy reach of Morecambe and Lancaster. Very much deserving of its 4 star rating: the rooms, meals and service were all of a consistently high standard. I have relatives in the area and this is where I shall stay when I visit them in future.
- Dawn (8/5): Very enjoyable staff lovely a shame about food we where disappointed - Very good Food that we ordered in pub disappointing we have eaten several times in past in the pub and been excellent but not this time staff dealt with our complaint fantastically
But cancelled our booking for following night in the restaurant didn’t want too be disappointed again

- GSRicky (8/5): - Sehr grosses und sauberes Zimmer, grosser und sicherer Parkplatz. Sehr gutes und leckeres Essen.
- Gary (7/5): Cold comfort - Food was excellent at breakfast and dinner. Staff were helpful. Room was very clean , large, comfortable, quality furnishings. Bed v comfy. I had no hot water throughout my stay so had to take a cold shower and have a cold shave throughout my stay over the weekend. While staff were sympathetic, no form of compensation or reduction in room rate was offered. Shame really, I would otherwise have marked higher.
- Paul (10/5): Great location, fantastic service, good food and drink - Room was brilliant with excellent courtesy tray with biscuits, tea, coffee and fresh milk. Plenty of space and very clean. White Company toiletries. Really friendly and efficient staff - as a returning guest you get a welcome drink (beer or wine). Stay 3x a year and you'll be upgraded to the best room in the property. Breakfast was brilliant - plenty of choice and all freshly cooked. Cost for dog staying with us seemed a bit high, but he was made very welcome. No slippers in the room which would have been an nice additional touch. But these are minor niggles for an excellent stay.
- Ryan (10/5): Well located, nice facilities and would stay again - Really nice location. The rooms, facilities, outdoor and indoor of the pub/restaurant were really nice Nothing really

- Du Plessis (10/5): Charming, cozy and relaxing! - The staff was incredible, very accommodating and the food was amazing! Everything was perfect and I would highly recommend a stay here!
- neil (10/5): -
- Fiona (3/5): - Not much, to be honest. I believe that management has changed hands. Not for the better. We will not be returning. Everything.
- Susan (9/5): Pleasant night away. - Room was lovely. Good beer garden. Nice food. Nothing!
- Amanda (10/5): Fabulous, we were warmly welcomed, attention to detail very noticeable within the restaurant and room. Will definitely - Very Clean, comfortable, great location and a high standard of products in the room and the restaurant. Nothing !!
- Mac (10/5): Brilliant, enjoyed it thouroughly. - Hotel is clean and well kept. Staff very friendly and accommodating. We visited with a couple of dogs who were very welcome and tolerated. Choice of breakfast was good and well presented especially the cooked breakfast. Would not hesitate to stay again. Everything good.
- sarah (10/5): - Very pleasant staff, nothing too much trouble.
Food was exceptional.
Very comfortable, everything provided in the bedroom.
In lovely location.
- Norman (8/5): Lovely accommodation and well suited for our dogs. - Great staff, relaxed atmosphere. Very well equipped and very dog friendly. Nothing to report

- Andrew (9/5): Fabulous walk up to the seashore along the coast to the old chapel then back to the royal. - Breakfast was amazing and personal service
- Linda (8/5): Nice little hotel with lovely pub. - Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Staff very pleaaant and helpful. Food in bar was good and a nice vibe
- Deb (10/5): Loved it!! - Lovely pub and rooms were so comfy. Excellent little touches Nothing
- Sarah (7/5): Very very nice - The hotel was just lovely. We really liked the feel of the bar/dining area and loved the outside heated area. The evening meal and breakfast were as good as our family and friends had told us it would be, if not better, and we all thoroughly enjoy it and set us up for our day. Unfortunately we did have two complaints. Even though it is frosted, my daughter did not feel comfortable taking a shower whilst we were in the room and there was nowhere private to get undressed/dried off before & after the shower. She had to use the toilet then ask us to turn our backs whilst she ran from toilet to shower. The one light that lit up the toilet/wash area & shower is not a good idea at 4am when someone needs to go to the bathroom. Unfortunately I chose to leave the light off and on my way out of the toilet I tripped off the step and nearly broke my husbands legs as I knew if I turned the light on it would wake my husband and daughter. A separate light for the toilet is a must, and possibly some kind of screen that you can pull across at the top of the step would generate privacy (we were in room 9). Please don't always assume it's just partners who stay with you, there could be any mix of family members/friends etc who could be in the same room so there does need to be some where private to dress/undress. And one last issue which isn't really an issue, more an observation. I found that no-one read the Booking.com messages I have sent. I had to ring & email and even then, I felt the lady who answered the phone sounded too busy and would rather have been somewhere else, and it took a good day or two for me to get a reply to my email. I asked for 3 single beds rather than a double and a single right at the start of the booking. I wanted confirmation as I had received nothing through Booking.com so I rang the hotel. The lady I spoke too on the phone actually asked one of the housekeeping staff if our room could be turned into 3 single beds and she confirmed it could. I was quite surprised to see a double and a single when we arrived. Overall it was a lovely stay, but privacy, a form of light in the toilet and following through on customer requests would have been nice.
- Connor (10/5): - The staff were really friendly and welcoming and the room was lush for the price paid 😁
- Stan McCarthy (9/5): - Nothing had changed, still as good as usual 😌
- Karen (9/5): Perfect for an overnight stay - Great location, generous breakfast and nothing was too much trouble. Plenty of off road parking.
- JUDITH (9/5): - The room was fabulous, lots of individual touches that set it apart from the big chains. We've stayed before and were pleased to return. Food, both in the bar and at breakfast was very good. Coffee at breakfast! Would be better from a machine!
- Diane (8/5): Ok - Convenient in the village and free parking No ham for my eggs benidict
No milk in room
Old building with steps up and down to my room and no lift
Extremely small window in room
Didn't like the wood doors and skirting
- Therese (10/5): Excellent stay in a well run hotel with the best customer service. - Great location. Wonderful facilities including excellent restaurant. Customer service was brilliant especially Harry, the Deputy Manager who went out of his way to make sure we had the best experience possible. White Company products in the bedrooms. Clean and very comfortable bedrooms. Excellent 10/10 experience. N/A
- Els (9/5): Aangenaam en ontspannend verblijf - Locatie
Vriendelijk personeel Personeel ruimde het ontbijtbuffet al weg, nog vóór we klaar waren met eten en nog vóór de voorziene eindtijd
- Rachel (10/5): Excellent cheeky night away - Excellent staff. They cannot do enough for you & are so pleasant & happy to help.
Superb food also
This is our 2nd stay at The Royal & it’s fabulous. Situated in a stunning village. N/A
- Matthew (9/5): - Nice food, great breakfast, lovely room Not much to not like. I had an adjoining door, which just meant that I could hear next door quite clearly. Not that it was an issue as they were very quiet.
- Aron (9/5): Very pleasant stay - Always very welcoming and helpful. Rooms are comfortable and well equipped Unfortunately the door to the accommodation had been broken earlier, requiring a move to a different room. The breakfast was good but they were missing muffins for the eggs benedict
- lee (10/5): Loved our stay and will definitely return!! - Lovely pub, fab food, brilliant pub quiz!
- lee (10/5): -
- Mark (10/5): -
- Claire (9/5): - Very nice Hotel, staff were very accommodating, nothing was a trouble for them. Nothing
- Jamie (9/5): - Comfertable room,good food Nothing
- Simon (9/5): - Almost everything. I have been coming to the Royal for many years on my way over to the Isle of Man, and hope to continue to do so for the foreseeable. The only criticism I would make is that for some reason I could not get cold water from the bathroom tap. Brushing teeth in warm water is not pleasant.
- Sarah (8/5): -
- Denise (9/5): Enjoyed a few days away. - Great location, good breakfast. There needed to be more attention to detail.
- Patrick (10/5): Amazing - Everything
- Karen (10/5): -
- Christine Kennedy (9/5): Great stay in a beautiful village - Breakfast was typical of hotel breakfasts. Extra toast was great Male staff were more smiley and accommodating
- Ian (10/5): A very relaxing short break - Ambience and staff. Comfortable and clean. First class breakfast. Nothing
- Michelle (10/5): - A really good place, such a lovely Village, very welcoming inside the pub, staff pleasant, we stayed for one night and the breakfast was delicious!
Our room was extremely clean, and everything you need for a night's stay was included.
- CARLA (9/5): -
- Robbie (8/5): Very helpful staff - Location
- Lara (8/5): Lovely - worth a visit - The Royal Heysham was a delight. The rooms were lovely and clean and comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. I would stay here again.
- Campbell (9/5): Good clean well situated hotel great for a couple of nights - Close to the Ferry terminal It was quite but rather difficult to find
- Carolyn (8/5): A lovely hotel with interesting church and gravestones nearby. - Comfortable bed coffee machine quiet surroundings.
Nice evening meal and breakfast. Having to go outside to get to the room.
- Trevor (9/5): Good break - The pub is great, staff very efficient and friendly 👍 Nothing
- Joanne (10/5): -
- Han (6/5): -
- John (10/5): Brilliant - The staff could mot do enough for you
- William (10/5): Excellent - didn’t eat there but otherwise pleasant short stay - Well maintained clean comfortable hotel. Good value. Bit noisy for a while in the evening with some rowdy teenagers outside but that’s not the hotels fault.
- Walton (10/5): - Great To deargood
- Marie-Louise (9/5): - Lovely surrounding to the hotel. Dinner at the hotel was very good and so was breakfast. Room very nicely furnished. Very well placed for our ferry to Isle Of Man the next day so I can highly recommend it for a stop over In our room there was a step up to the loo and sink and shower room which i was worried about tripping up if I need to go to the loo at night. As there is nothing to be done to that it is just an observation.
- Stuart (8/5): -
- Barbara (8/5): -
- QFORT (10/5): -
- Michael (8/5): A convenient place to get the ferry. - Friendly staff Venetian blind not working properly.
Room a bit cramped.
- DAVID (10/5): enjoyed our stay would stay again - food very good downfall no custard on puddings room good very clean and well stocked with drinks tea coffee etc biscuits nothinwg we did not like except sweet selection not to our taste no custard wine pricey
- Quentin (10/5): Perfect - Excellent in every respect. Lovely breakfast. Nothing
- Edith (10/5): - Excellent location and friendly staff
Lovely breakfast and evening meal Dog friendly
- discodiva48 (10/5): -

- Michelle (10/5): A hidden gem!! - Lovely hotel, great location, amazing staff and fantastic food. Will definitely recommend and go again. Nothing. Everything was amazing.
- Pam Bowker (10/5): - Comfy bed. Fantastic shower. Luxury toiletries to use. Coffee machine and kettle. Wide range of drinks.
Dog bowl, ball, poo bags and chews for our dog.
Excellent breakfast. The cooked breakfast was cooked and played with care. Quality bacon and sausages. Comfy chairs rather than dining chairs
More than one biscuit each would be nice 👍
- Adrian (10/5): Staff. Very friendly facilities very good. Food brilliant will definitely stay again and highly recommended -
- Nick Younge (10/5): Outstanding hotel and service by Maddy - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Service – Truly Above and Beyond
I arrived late at the Royal Heysham Hotel and was checked in by Maddy, who was absolutely fantastic from the moment I walked through the door.
I had just purchased a brand-new motorcycle and was understandably anxious about leaving it parked on the road overnight due to the risk of theft. Maddy completely understood my concern and went above and beyond to help me find a safe and secure solution for the bike.
Nothing was too much trouble for her. She was genuinely helpful, proactive, and incredibly reassuring at a time when I was tired and stressed after a long journey. Her attitude and willingness to help made a huge difference and left a lasting impression.
The hotel itself was beautiful, spotless, and extremely close to the ferry — which was perfect for my trip back to the Isle of Man. I genuinely had no idea this hotel was there, despite travelling back and forth for years, and I’m so glad I discovered it.
Maddy is an absolute credit to the hotel — professional, kind, and clearly someone who truly cares about guests. Exceptional service like this is rare and deserves recognition.
I will definitely be staying here again next time I’m in the UK. Highly recommended. Have to leave 😁
- Jeremy (10/5): Homeward bound - Great location, very comfortable rooms and the breakfast........wow!!! Absolutely nothing
- Peter (8/5): - The room was nice, clean and warm. The variety of the continental style breakfast was very poor - no plain yoghurt, fruit or granola.
- Gary (7/5): -
- Carol (9/5): -
- Graham (9/5): Fantastic stay it will be the regular destination when in the area - Excellent breakfast with very friendly staff Standard of the room
- Paul (10/5): -
- Cate (9/5): Exceptional apart from a few disappointments with food. - Nice spacious room and bathroom with plenty of nice additions, including choice of drinks and biscuits. Replenished each day. White stuff toiletries in bathroom. All had a feeling of quality. Nice options for breakfast and tasty evening meals. Coffee was exceptionally weak at breakfast and more vegetarian options on evening menu would be welcomed. Soya type vegetarian sausages preferepable to mashed vegetable ones.
- Sue (10/5): Perfect size for our group. Felt like our own personal hotel. Staff extremely helpful - Everything. A haven from all the concrete in Morecambe! Nothing
- Bernd (9/5): -
- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional stay could not fault it one bit, would love to come back! - The property was really cosy and super clean couldn’t have asked for more! The staff were exceptional and very friendly and the breakfast was wonderful. Would definitely stay again! N/A
- Helen (10/5): Soooo comfortable and such a great position - This was the second time we stayed here and it was just as terrific as the first time. The manager and staff were helpful and the restaurant dinner was delicious.
- Diane (8/5): Nice hotel with lovely food and pleasant staff. - The room was nice, the food was good, especially breakfast and the staff were attentive. We were a little shocked on arrival to find that we had to pay £20.00 extra for our dog as nowhere on our booking was this mentioned. We would have anticipated paying £10.00 and would have found that to be fair. £20.00 for one night is somewhat excessive and not something we have encountered anywhere else we stayed. We have stayed in hotels, where dog beds, bowls and treats have been provided for £10.00. To be fair there were dog treats, but still feel it was too expensive. Also feel that this should be indicated somewhere on your booking form to allow people to make a choice as to whether to pay that much or look elsewhere.
- Mair (10/5): Lovely stay! - What a lovely hotel. Our two rooms were clean, quaint, lovely furnishings and all expected facilities. The breakfast was included in our price and was excellent, with plenty of choices. The staff were amazing and so helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay again.
- Graham (10/5): An enjoyable relaxing retreat. - A charming hotel with friendly helpful staff and locals serving first rate breakfasts and fantastic evening meals. Our room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Despite being a popular and busy venue our room was calming and peaceful. Everything was perfect and we would not have changed anything. We will be back for a longer visit !!!! Thank you to all the staff for a most enjoyable stay.
