She was quick to respond to messages and open to all our ideas. When it came to the day, everything ran smoothly. All the staff were fantastic, the food was amazing and it was everything we could have wished for. If we could do it again, we would, exactly the same. Would highly recommend, not only the venue, but everyone behind the scenes making the day possible. All our guests that stayed the night, loved their rooms, the bridal suite was amazing and can’t wait to visit again as husband and wife. For anyone looking for that intimate and fun vibe, we would highly recommend.

- Jan (8/5): - Excellent staff very friendly and the food was very good indeed. Cosy and intimate bar which welcomed our dog and we enjoyed our meals. We stayed in the cottage opposite so very easy. Room was lovely and clean bathroom good size a more comfortable bed would be beneficial for future but fully recommend.

We would also have liked 2 chairs in our room, plus net curtains as the windows looked straight out onto a pavement with passers by. Also the lavatory kept blocking, but eventually righted itself after much flushing.

Lydia is the most amazing at helping with the wedding planning and kept in touch through out everything. Nothing was too much for her! The staff were friendly and service was excellent. The Venue has to be seen to see the how beautiful it is. The photos really dotn do it justice it is the most stunning venue and was perfect for our intimate wedding. From the moment we met Lydia we knew that this was the place to celebrate our special day. Explaining everything to us down to the minutest detail for the day. Being there on the phone or email every time we had questions to ask. On the day we were treated like a king and queen and guests were made so welcome. The staff , who smiled all day , were amazing. They couldn't do enough for anyone who asked and deserved a special thank you from Joy and I. The food was excellently prepared and plentiful. It's a beautiful venue with amazing staff. The rooms are amazing and we got to stay in the wedding suite. It's clean, well decorated and the food was amazing.

- George (8/5): Old Fashioned Charm - It had a level of courtesy and old fashioned quality of service ie. placing a beer mat under a pint to prevent a wet table at dinner, able to order your meal (evening and breakfast) from the table, being shown to your room. Oddly enough based in Yorkshire they dont serve Yorkshire tea !!! However they have an excellent range of craft beer.

- U9338CUmegans (10/5): Wedding 25/05/2025 - We got married here on the 25th of May 2025 and we are so exited to be able to look back at our wedding day and say it was absolutely perfect, and this definitely wouldn’t be the case without the amazing staff who made it possible. Planning the wedding was a lovely and chilled process, Lydia was such a joy to meet. She put us so at ease and the attention to detail for our big day was phenomenal. We went away from every meeting leading up to the wedding feeling confident and excited. The wedding ran so smoothly with a member of the venue staff always there to guide us and our guests to what was going on next and where we should go. The venue itself is so beautiful, and everything was decorated exactly as we had asked. We are so happy we chose to hire the courtyard as guests loved having somewhere else to go and the wedding photos look amazing when taken there. All our guests loved the wedding breakfast, the food was amazing, we even said it was better than when we did the menu tasting which we didn’t think was possible! Staff catered to all of our guests dietary requirements easily.

Not only was the service amazing but the venue was brilliant. Lydia was fantastic with all the staff! The hotel stay was brilliant, so comfortable and loved the spa bath!

- JP99MA (10/5): What a lovely place - This is a wonderful old inn, with several blocks of rooms - some across the road. The room I had was lovely in an olde world fashion. Only a couple of plugs but the wifi was strong. The bed was really comfy and the bathroom was modern and clean. The included breakfast was fantastic and the staff were so friendly. Will return i hope.

Lydia walked us through every step of the planning to provide us advice and guidance and hints and tips. WI am a control freak, but nothing was too much I was in regular contact with Lydia via email and had several face to face meetings to make sure I had everything covered. On the day just knowing Lydia was there with us I could relax everyone was where they needed to be, and ran perfectly I cannot express our gratitude enough to Lydia and all the team at the Bert’s for making our day perfect.

- amylK2273MH (10/5): Perfect wedding venue - We got married at the black horse Inn Clifton in September 2024, the whole day and lead up was absolutely perfect. Lydia and all the staff were so helpful and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble, even our unique touches like our barn owl ring bearer! The day went so smoothly and everyone commented what a brilliant day it was. The venue is beautiful, thankfully the sun was shining so we had lots of use of the private courtyard. With it being a venue attached to the pub it felt 100% private, pretty much like hiring out an entire venue just for the wedding without the extortionate cost which normally comes with that! The planning process was great, Lydia was very responsive to any questions or queries we had and the planning meetings were very useful. Pricing was really reasonable, we went for the finishing touches package which was good value and meant that I didn't have to stress about all the decor, the majority was taken care of, allowing us to focus on any little extras I wanted to add - this was a huge weight off our shoulders leading up to the big day. The food was excellent, we opted for the set 3 course menu, but there were plenty of options to chose from. All round a lovely day and nothing we would want to change. Thank you again! Lydia couldn't do anymore for us. Communication was amazing, the day ran smoothly (comments from guests said they had never been to a more perfectly run wedding), nothing was too much trouble, and the food was impeccable! With this, the most lovliest staff (including all the cleaners the day afterwards), and being the best value for money, makes this venue the best in our eyes. Absolutely 1st class service. We can't thank Lydia and the team anymore, our day was perfect, with many wonderful memories made. Lydia is worth her weight in gold ❤️

- JessiNewton (10/5): Fit for a Princess. - I recently got married at The Black Horse and I will never stop telling people about how amazing this place is. From the first time I walked in, I knew it was exactly what I was looking for. I stayed over with my MoH the night before, and best thing I did. If it wasn't for being my wedding day, I wouldn't of wanted to get up. The beds are super comfy, the shower is better than what I have at home, I enjoyed all 4 showers over the space of 2 days! The staff are all so friendly and nothing was too much. Lydia herself, is an absolute god sent. She is lovely, and so friendly! 5 stars doesn't seem enough!

The food was delicious and of such top quality. But the icing on the cake was how Lydia and her team made our day run do smoothly. They really know how to orchestrate a perfect wedding. - FarAway557372 (10/5): Perfect wedding venue - We had our wedding at the black horse inn and it was the most perfect day! From the very first meeting with Lydia to weeks after the wedding, we have had great communication. The venue itself is beautiful it has so much character, the rooms are all modern but In keeping with the buildings original age and style. We had a lot of family staying at the venue and everyone only had good things to say. The food is delightful we ate three times, each time everyone was more than happy with their food. Nothing is to much trouble for Lydia and her team and every single one of their staff were great, including the housekeeping who helped me move my wedding decor in the morning. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the black horse inn to anyone.

- joannao681 (8/5): Lovely hotel - Rooms are beautiful paid for a deluxe room which was beautiful then walked into the bathroom. Not really what you expect to see, there were other deluxe rooms at the time of booking. I feel that there should of been a discount for the state of the ceiling, the shower also leaked, upon complaining re; the aesthetic ceiling, no apology just i will report it to housekeeping, a slight discount should of been refunded. The building was beautiful & the courtyard very quaint the staff on arrival very friendly & made you feel welcome. No instructions with coffee maker, i water logged the glass table. So unfortunately u let yourself down a star

Many of our guests stayed overnight and again the service was fantastic. We would definitely recommend them as a wedding venue.
- 725kirsties (10/5): Mr & Mrs Stainburn - 10.08.24 the date we was lucky enough to get married in this beautiful venue, Lydia and her team went above and beyond to make our day special, The venue is beautiful and intimate which is something I wanted, it’s a small aisle which I and my bridesmaids were grateful of, the wedding meal was gorgeous as well as the evening meal, we can’t recommend this place enough. The rooms were amazing so clean and modern but with original features. We can’t wait to come back for a child free night.

- chrisplucas (10/5): A wonderful find and stay - I was lucky enough to stay here for a work trip and chose here over your standard hotel chains. I’m really glad I made that choice. Not only was the price better, but the service I have received throughout my stay has been impeccable. I was greeted and shown to my room which was lovely, cozy and full of character. I arrived just before food closing time and they ensured I was able to order a meal and have a couple of drinks after a long journey. The food was high standard and enjoyed some local draft. I then settled for the night in my room. In the morning I had a wonderful breakfast and again the service was 5 star. I’ve had a lovely stay and would recommend anyone to choose this hotel over the standard chains as you won’t be disappointed. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice pub with rooms - Nice pub with rooms. The building is very old and has exposed oak beams, uneven walls and a lot of character. There is a beautiful courtyard with lovely hanging baskets in full bloom. Tasty breakfast despite my egg being overcooked. My room was the smallest one (Jockey), but the single bed was fine even though I'm over 6 foot tall. The floor slopes towards the window which means that the bed also slopes down towards the head end which isn't great. The ensuite was very small and it was difficult to wash my face in the tiny sink without banging my head on the glass shelf above the sink. Shower head was a bit low for someone my height, but I was still able to have an adequate shower. It was good value (for the area) and I would definitely recommend it to others despite the few niggles.

The rooms were great, interesting, with oak beams and stone mullions, and all the staff very friendly and extremely helpful. I can't recommend it highly enough.
- Mike (10/5): Excellent - First stay here for a party in Brighouse. Superb welcome from staff on arrival and shown to our room. Accommodation is across the road from the pub and events so nice and quiet and a great space at the front of the building for a evening drink. Very interesting range of ales and other drinks in the pub and an excellent breakfast. The corridors of the accommodation be lye how nice the rooms themselves are, very comfy mattresses and pillows and big towels that wrap around you properly. Highly recommended.
- Frances (6/5): Overnight stay - Although this is a wedding venue hotel we were not disturbed by the wedding. room overlooked a road but this was not too noisy. Not really a pub any more so no evening food when there is an event on - they do suggest you check in advance about food availability. Breakfast was very good though not a buffet. Eggs Benedict was very good, also cereals and yogurts, pastries and toast available. Room was small for the price but comfortable.

I woke up several times in middle of night and eventually at 2.45, i went and knocked on the door a few time, woke him up, and asked him to turn the television off. he after 5 minutes. and then i could sleep for rest of the night. next day i was very tired.

- Peter (10/5): - Exceptionally helpful and friendly staff. A real welcoming atmosphere. Recently renovated modern bedrooms and dining area that still retains the character of the old buildings.
- Ian (10/5): Gem of a place to stay - A gem of a find. I was looking for a reasonably priced place to stay in the area and found this in Hotels.com. From the moment I walked in the door the friendliness of the staff and the service they provided were first class. The room was comfortable and no noise could be heard from the wedding reception in the adjacent building. The food was amazing and the waitress friendly and chatty. Being an ale drinker I was interested in the beers and I can say they were well kept and tasted lovely. If I’m that way again I will look to stay here as my first choice.

Great service and it was a pleasure having friendly staff to greet me . They made me feel very welcome and comfortable. The room was comfortable and clean with a fabulous bathroom

- Greville (10/5): - Great little hotel/pub. Staff very friendly. Room very clean and well presented. Bathroom exceptional, all modern fitting, large walk in shower and bath. Breakfast all waiter service. No self service buffet bar. All cooked to order. Has an lovely looking outside area with lots of hanging baskets, but were unable to use as rained most of the time we were there. Well recommended for a long or short stay.
- Nigel (10/5): Great stay out of town - Very warm welcome on arrival and shown to room. Pleasant decor although the single room was a little tight for room (what would I expect for a single?). Arrived on Sunday evening, but pub closes on Sunday evenings. No major problem as plenty of places nearby to eat. Over slept in morning as bed was so comfortable and nearly missed breakfast. So glad I didn’t as it was one of the best cooked breakfasts I’ve had in a very long time. The evening menu also looked fantastic, but was not able to dine in. Based on breakfast, I’d imagine the flavours would be sensational- no exaggeration. Will definitely be booking again when in the area.
- K (10/5): Black Horse Inn - Lucky enough to stay here during a short business trip and it was great value for money. The food in the restaurant really is top class. Tip - If arriving by train don't try and walk as it's a severe hill to hotel.

- Sarah (10/5): Cosy night with friends - We had an overnight stay on 11th March to meet up with friends. On arrival the bar area was informal, warm and welcoming. We stayed in a double room overlooking the front of the property. The room was inkeeping with the property with a lovely coay feel. The bed was comfy and we slept very well. The bathroom was lovely and clean with complimentary toiletries and fluffy white towels, although the shower may need an update even so it gave plenty of high pressure water and it was hot! Our friends had booked a table so we got to experience all the amenities the Black Horse had to offer. We were the only party dining, everyone else had cancelled due to the poor weather conditions. We had a beautiful meal with plenty of good wine, our waitress was lovely and nothing was a problem, especially as we had several bottles of rapidly evaporating wine!! After our meal we spent a couple of hours in the bar by the fire and not once did the landlord or his staff make us feel like they wanted us to leave. This morning we had a full english breakfast which was hot and delicious, another bonus for me was small chopped mushrooms rather than a portobello(theres something about a whole massive mushroom sitting on my plate that really puts me off). Its safe to say we had excellent company in our friends but I think the cosy atmosphere of the Black Horse on a cold winter night made it all the more special. We will definitely be staying again.
- Caroline (10/5): Great - This lovely old building has lashings of character alongside its modern conveniences. The fact the rooms have baths plus over bath showers means you have the luxury of choice, which I love. This family run business gives you all the amenities you require for a pleasurable stay away from the rat race of corporate accommodation, which is so present in so many of the larger hotels these days. The meals are great and cooked to a very high standard. Stayed twice now but will be definitely booking in again very soon

- Daniel (10/5): Great stay - The Black Horse in is a great value stop over, everything was clean and tidy. My only slight problem was I couldn't find the Wifi password and was too tired to ask, so I went to sleep, which was probably no bad thing.

- Helena (6/5): - A really lovely room and bathroom, there was a heatwave though and the room only had one small window, and it was like a sauna all night, this is the only reason for a lower rating for overall stay, we had a fan but it really didn’t do anything, any other time it would be lovely.
- JACQUELINE (10/5): Beautiful Refurbished Rooms - Rooms was beautiful. Just newly refurbished. Water was cold the first day but this was rectified straight away. Hotel is still in the middle of the refurbishment so some areas not perfect but if the standard of my room is anything to go by this will soon be rectified.
- Lesley (8/5): Friendly and welcoming - A warm welcome upon arrival, the hotel staff are friendly and could not do enough to help. The rooms clean and tidy.
- Paul (10/5): Hidden Gem - Had a great last minute stay here. Arrived early due to a mix up with another hotel and early arrival on train. Despite being well before the 4pm Check In time a very friendly lady greeted me and showed me to my room, which although was a little dated in decor and fixtures/ fittings etc was fine for what I needed for a short stay and was perfectly clean (which is all I really care about). The pub/restaurant opposite the courtyard cottages and part of the set up, is excellent. Fantastic service and food (real, proper fresh, homemade and hearty) and a nice atmosphere. Very friendly, welcoming, family run B&B. Highly Recommended and I will be back again soon.

- stephen (10/5): Steve and kathy waterhouse - great service Andrew and Lydia were rushed off their feet when we arrived in the middle of a wedding party but took time to arrange drinks from the bar for my wife and I then bags to our clean and I mean clean room nothing too much trouble for either of them breakfast was hot plentiful and a great selection this little gem of a find was half the price of Bradford hotels thanks to Lydia and Andrew
- david (8/5): - Very nice food and drink and the service was good. The building looked like it was going through long term restoration of some sort and my room was the smallest I've seen for a long while, you would struggle to fit two people in there. All OK but slightly overpriced...
- Kerry (8/5): Wonderful as usual - Customer service excellent, very attentive. We have stayed at the Black Horse before so knew what to expect and wasn't disappointed. Room was lovely, great shower, great bed, the building is old so creaky floors and not super thick walls are to be expected. Bar meal (with the dog) was excellent as was breakfast the next day. Have no hesitation in revisiting or recommending.

- James (6/5): Theres a holiday inn 2 mins away - The hotel has a carpark but its small. When standing outside you get to play a game of guess the entrance, youve got 3 doors & no signs. The room was ok but small. Rooms do not have premium tv channel's they have freeview. The tv is about the size of a tablet fixed to the wall (kind of)

Local friends joined us for a lovely cooked breakfast and were made welcome. We had stayed there in the past, en-route on our journey to Scotland.
