Guest Reviews
- John (8/5): Very good value but need to improve the food - Hi, thanks for the great stay. I found the staff to be excellent and very helpful. And, the hotel to have a wonderful view with big and clean rooms.
However, the lunchtime food and dinner food needs to improve. Dinner is good but could be better. However, lunch is far too basic.
Maybe charge 12 for 4 items but make the items good rather than a buffet of average items
- Diego (4/5): - Nice place, service is awful; front desk attitude is lousy, Indifferent and very poor service attitude; especially having in mind the hotel's location is not the most convenient, it is far from everything.
- Julie (6/5): - We booked this hotel because of the good reviews, however, we were greatly disappointed. First, the front desk staff was quite unfriendly, letting us know that, even though we are very, very sure that the hotel was not even half booked, our room will not be ready before check-in time (14:00, we arrived at 13:15) and directly led us into their own pool restaurant where the food is very mediocre, instead of making any other suggestions where we might have lunch while we „wait for our room to get ready“. As for the rooms, we do not mind that the rooms are a little bit older or a bit dark. But even though our room seemed quite clean at first sight, we soon started to notice that the floor had only been cleaned roughly before we moved in and was not cleaned at all during our 4-night-stay. Also, there was an unbearable stench coming from our bathroom which the cleaning lady tried to cover by leaving the window open (outside temperature being 30 degrees Celsius). Last but not least, having the air condition directly above the bed is one thing, but it is another if the air con is not properly adjustable, so it is either freezingly cold or off. As a last comment, the breakfast had a big variety of food, whereas none of it was really good. The „gym“ can rather be seen as a locker for equipment where the last time someone cleaned is a long time ago.
- sarah (10/5): - Amazing property. The view from the restaurant is worth the stay on its own. Great staff, very reasonably priced food at the on site restaurant. Would definitely recommend
- Dylan (10/5): Lovely - Excellent experience. Lovely hotel that looks like an Indiana Jones set haha there is a museum, a gym, a sauna and has an infinity pool with a view on the river and on Paraguay. It is walking distance from the 3 frontiers milestone. Staff is great and helpful. Their restaurant is good, and they have tango shows on weekend days ! Even though, it’s not the closest hotel to Iguazú Falls park taxi drivers usually charge the same price wherever you go in the city, so it doesnt cost you more because it’s afar.
- Juan (10/5): - Excelente hotel muy bonito todo
- LOURDES (10/5): - Vacations, I like the hotel but I did not like the roads to the hotel and a taxi was required to go to other restaurants. I would recommend it, just keep in mind to pay for a taxi to visit around.
- Tim (8/5): - Lovely design. Pity the full restaurant wasn’t open
- Delores (10/5): Very relaxing! - Great stay! Quiet and peaceful with great landscape views from the patio/pool area. The infinity pool is grest! Dinner in dining room just okay but tango entertainment at dinner was fun to watch. The grounds & pool area are very clean and is a wonderful place to relax. Snack shop has pretty good menu for times when dining room isn’t open. Staff is great. Complimentary breakfast is pretty good. Daily housekeeping.
- Joëlle (10/5): - Très beau site .
- Ryan (6/5): I wouldn't recommend staying here. - I can't recommend this hotel really. It is quite far out of town and essentially impossible to walk especially in the heat. This means taxis back and forwards to town and as Uber doesn't work in that area this makes it a little bit inconvenient. The pool is nice, sure. But it's next to the main restaurant where you have breakfast and in order to shower before you go to the pool you have to walk to the restaurant and then walk back out for the restaurant soaking wet before getting into the pool. I booked this hotel for the gym and it is pitifully small. One night I dined in the restaurant upstairs and it's completely bizarre. Feels like you're dining in a conference Centre with this extra high ceiling, feels like an arena. Saying that the receptionists were helpful when I decided to fly home early and the bedrooms were clean and functional.
- Marina (8/5): Precioso lugar! - Hermoso lugar, excelentemente ambientado.
- dymphw2016 (2/5): Never again - The first nigth I could not sleep because of noice of a party next door. After begging they gave me a more quite room, but afther I unpacked I heard noices of a couple who had seks, it was a familyroom with a door. At 3 am I moved again. At 4 am I fell a sleep. No apolegy.
Restaurant: never had such a bad breakfast. Also some waiters where unfriendly. Once I asked for refill my bottle with cold water, they said NO. The supermarkeds are at 2 km distance.
You have to pay for the sauna.
The most friendly people where the women who cleaned the rooms.
- Jerome (10/5): - Interesting museum, resort type ambience, good price, on-site backup generator. Fair wifi.
- CESAR E (10/5): - Quarto ok, atende bem.
- Paula (10/5): - Excellent hotel, friendly staff, the restaurant was very good, breakfast was good, and the grounds are beautiful.
Overall was an excellent experience
- Vanessa (8/5): - I wanted a unique experience, I was looking for a place to unwind, reconnect with nature, and tap into the local history, Guanimí Misión Hotel is an absolute gem. I feel grateful to have experienced its magic, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a meaningful and memorable stay.
I really enjoyed how Accessible it is from the hotel to all the attraction Misiones Iguazú has to offer, only taxi. Or rent a car or have a personal chofer to get around.
I didn’t like is that the hotel does not include shuttles to airport pick up or drop off and I was never offered transportation to the amusement park. As it was publicized on the websites.
The rooms aspect looks and felt clean.
Around the glass door in the shower can be cleaned better it had black mold around the glass.
The food in the restaurant was excellent.
And the service too
Erfahrung generell in Argentinien.
Ich würde aber dennoch wieder hier unterkommen.
- Paulo (10/5): - Lugar espetacular.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Terrible smell emanating from bathroom. - Hotel has nice restaurant and pool with great views. It's landscaping is also very nice. However the room and especially bathroom is terrible. It has terrible smell and poor maintenance. The bed wasn't comfortable at all. The smell haunts me.
- Adriano José (10/5): Excelente experiência - Foi ótima nossa estadia no guaminí mision hotel. De modo geral atendeu nossa expectativa...
- Rebeca (10/5): - Excelente lugar, lindo!
- Dorothy (10/5): - Pool was good though opening hours could have been longer.
Restaurant was good and staff in Restaurant and at breakfast were good.
Room was a good size and the grounds well kept
A bit of a long walk to other restaurants and the main town area. But otherwise a nice hotel
- henry (10/5): - Breakfast was wonderful with beautiful view ,
Office staff so helpful .
Bedding and towel can be improve .
- Terry (10/5): - Excellent infinity pool o erlooking thr river, Wry quiet location, decent restaurant.
Tudo perfeito.
- darryl (10/5): - The property is stunning. The restaurant view over the river is excellent. There was a stain on my pillowcase and the 2 pillows provided were both too thick. The pool was too dirty to swim. I would stay here again though.
- WileyFahma (10/5): High-quality hidden gem at a great price - This is a hidden gem, especially the restaurant, which had the best food of our trip. Some reviews said taxis didn’t like going there because of the rough road at the end, but our driver had no problem with it. Some reviews said it was moldy but our room was clean , spacious, and even had a bidet. The hotel restaurant and pool have a great view overlooking the Paraná River. The grounds are charming, with a mission motif.
Service at the restaurant was impeccable, and prices extremely reasonable by US standards. The bill for ojo de bife (ribeye) which seemed like a filet mignon to us, mashed potatoes, chicken with rice and vegetables, an excellent bottle of Mendoza Malbec, and a passion fruit mousse for dessert, came to about $50 including a generous tip. I believe non-hotel diners are welcome.
We stayed at Iguazu Jungle Lodge two nights before and everything was superior here at a better price, only because-it is off the beaten path. Highly recommend.
- carloshcaracciolo (10/5): great experience - I was with my family at he end of the last august, it was a beautiful experience because it is not a traditional hotel. The place is very nice and the staff polite and warm. You have breakfast looking at the Paraná river and the Paraguayan coast. The room was large and comfortable.
- Craig (10/5): Ticks all the boxes! 10 out of 10! - Large rooms. Helpful front desk, easy check in and out. Interesting place to stay. Restaurant was awesome, good food and service! Thanks for the room upgrade Hotels.com.
- luke (10/5): Highly recommend - The grounds were amazing and pristinely kept, the facilities and the pool were spot on. The view of the river at breakfast was stunning and the restaurant and tango show at dinner were of high quality. Around a 15/20 minute walk into the main town/shops but the receptionists would happily organise a taxi if needed
- Alfonso (10/5): - This was my second time at Guaminí Mision Hotel.
The staff was outstanding, friendly and very helpful.
The rooms are super clean so are the bathrooms.
Love the little swimming pool area overlooking the Paraná river. Great to have a few beers when it's 41°C and watch the river flow.
Great breakfast and fantastic restaurant to stay and dine at the hotel.
Also it is very well located in Puerto Iguazu, Argentina.
- Jeff (8/5): - We were given a room with two twin beds0 and were told that larger beds were not available even though they appeared to be. Language difficulty may have been at issue. However, my wife speaks passable Spanish, so something else may have been the problem. We wanted to be good guests, so we did not press the issue. Otherwise the hotel has been marvelous.
- paloma9350 (8/5): Surprise in the Jungle - The hotel have a good atmosphere, and an average service, however due to the old building smell like mold and is quite far from town in a dirt road. It can be an exotic location near the river and walking distance to the 3 fronteras monument. At the restaurant they have tango shows at dinner time.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Hotel is at the end of town - Bathrooms aren’t in good shape, stuff is friendly buy doesn’t speak English. Rooms and breakfast has small bugs flying around.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Totally worth it!!!! - The place was very jungle feel which was perfect for the area. The views were great and the rooms were very big and comfortable. The staff is very friendly helpful and proper. They were informative and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this place!
- carolinautz7 (10/5): A cultural experience! - Wonderful hotel that offers river view, a museum, and clean, comfortable rooms.
Hotel staff was super friendly and cordial as well as restaurant staff. As you make your way to your room, you can stop by the museum to learn more about the Guarani culture. Our room was very spacious and super clean. We had a chance to try traditional foods such as mate cocido, mbeyu, reviro, and dulce de leche. As you dine you can enjoy the beautiful river view and even a tango show. My favorite part was the natural setting and taking a few minutes during sunrise and sunset to enjoy the sound of birds in the rainforest.... truly a wholehearted cultural experience for the senses!!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great setting, lovely building and grounds, beautiful location next to the river, good staff
- gaziggy12 (2/5): Avoid!! Roaches and far from town - Very dirty hotel, towels, and linens stained - even the curtains! We found giant cockroaches in our room on multiple occasions. Yes, it's the jungle, but this is advertised as an upscale hotel. Mold all over the bathroom and ceiling.
Hotel is very far from town, which requires a taxi each way. The restaurant is overpriced as a result (800 pesos for a mediocre main plate!)
The one highlight was the gorgeous infinity pool!
- Common (2/5): STAY IN THE CITY!! - STAY IN THE CITY!!
We picked this hotel for better facilities, but they didn't exist.
We asked and were told the masseuse wasnt available for 7 days and the sauna was not available.
Terrible location, extremely inconvenient.
Bought a bottle of wine back to our room one night, asked for a bottle opener and were told we had to pay for it, as they want us to use there restaurant (which we already had)
So much more to do in the city with similar comfort hotels for half the price. I rarely do reviews but did this purely to stop people for sharing our misery.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay, shame about the very loud music - Nice room, slightly dated but still very comfortable. Good breakfast spread. Lovely to sit and have some sundowners on the terrace by the river (pack fly spray!)
Over the road from the hotel is a bar / hostel and on the weekend they played extremely loud and bassy music from midnight until 4am. The hotel had no control over this unfortunately but if you're a light sleeper you consider staying elsewhere.
- tripknows (10/5): Great place for lunch or dinner - The spectacular river view and the historic character of the place make it worth visiting for lunch or dinner even if you're not staying there. Museum-like display of Guarani history and artifacts, and the feel of a Jesuit mission. Well worth it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful property. Well maintained. Top of the line. Silence and peace
- Gillian (10/5): Great value for money - It has an AMA ing view of the river and although a little far out it was exceptionally clean and the staff were excellent .
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Initially welcome but lack of management became apparent after a while.
Disinterested staff and loud music most of the day from adjoining property including into the early hours... 4 am in the morning!!!
- Richard (10/5): - Very nice hotel with amazing restaurant and view of the river. Very good, clean rooms. Very friendly and helpful staff.
Definitely ask for Claudio in the restaurant. He has excellent recommendations and will take care of his guests
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is very nice, overlooking the river with a nice size balcony. It is more remote and requires a taxi or 20+ minute walk to town area. The room is nicely arranged with storage shelves behind the bed wall.
My only issue was communication at the end. My flight was cancelled on the first day I was to be at the hotel, but able to fly in the following day. They said they would not charge me (over the phone) due to cancellation, upon arrival, they again confirmed "not a problem" and would not charge. However upon closing out to leave the next day the lady at the counter (not seen prior) said I must pay the missed night. I told her I was told otherwise but she insisted. She took my credit card, supposedly charged it but refused to give me a receipt. I insisted, she said she could not, finally she reached behind her and off the counter top grabbed a customer's receipt and said, "Here use this!"
Of course, I am thinking my credit card number was just hijacked. Not a good way to end the stay. I know the booking sites say no refunds on bookings but since I was told twice I would not be charged, this latter issue was concerning to say the least.
- Christian l (10/5): - The English is limited but the stat itself was wonderful we enjoyed it very much.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful grounds and museum with views overlooking Iguacu River
- Krisso (10/5): - Great place to stay. The hotel is beautiful. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Pool is long and super nice. Terrace is great to have a drink, food and enjoy the view. The staff is also really helpful. The only downside is that it takes 30-40mins on foot to the center depending on where you go. The restaurant food is Ok.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Somehow i had a wrong impression that it will be a multi floor building with Guamini remains houses. Turns out it is a cottages build in Guamini style. And i liked it very much. It has a very authentic feel. Nice area to walk around, museum, and a great breakfasts i ever had included in the hotel price! Well done! I didn't like that it is a little too far and driving there is a bumpy ride. Beds are uncomfortable. Also i was charged $100 pesos a day, some kind of visiting taxes, that should be for locals not travelers.
- Steve (8/5): - The original room was clean and re-provisioned but the bed had been slept in and not made up. Seems to have been a cleaner lapse. No problems with new room.
Restaurant is very good as well as the tropical breakfast that is part of the rate.
All the staff we encountered were very good and went out of their way to make us feel welcome.
If I could make a suggestion it would be in the restaurant to make available some English menus for guests not conversant in Spanish.
- caryn (10/5): Holiday - A great place with amazing staff. We were able to visit both Brazil and Argentina side of the Iguazu Falls.
- Jenn (8/5): - The hotel was great. The location was a 25 minute walk (without sidewalks) to the city center where restaurants and shops are located.
- ALEXI (10/5): Beautiful Property - We loved this hotel!!! It was very affordable and the grounds were well kept. The lunch at the “snack bar” (more of a casual restaurant) was very affordable, and dinner at the restaurant was absolute perfection. The hotel is located just a quick taxi drive from town, but you might be tempted to just stay on the grounds because they have gorgeous infinity edge pool and the best water pressure in the showers.
- michael (10/5): Love and piece. - One of the best hotels we've ever stsued at. And such friendly and helpful people.
- Lauren (10/5): A beautiful stay - My stay at Guanamí was pretty much perfect. My room was spacious and comfortable, the staff were delightful, and the infinity pool overlooking the river is pure heaven. I especially loved the front desk staff and dining on the pool deck.
This hotel is on the river, just outside the town of Puerto Iguazu. It's possible to walk into town (about 30 minutes to center) but if the weather is hot, plan on using taxis.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location. Very relaxing and quiet.
Staff were helpful and bar drinks were good
- chepel's travel (8/5): Deserve visit it - Amazing installations, is a thematic hotel with good historical exposition in several halls about the culture and the root origin. My only concern is the lady at front desk with a very tough actitud. The management is not flexible with special conditions at the reservations( happen a national strike just in my reservations period)
