Guest Reviews
- Jonathan (10/5): - A very large rustic farm home B&B, large on suit rooms and an amazing breakfast in the heart of beautiful Wales.
- Heidi (8/5): - Very unique old mansion complete with eclectic wall to wall art, probably original furniture and uneven/squeaky floors. Only part upgraded were bathrooms. Living room space fits a group nicely. Definitely a once in a lifetime experience. Interior needs some help with musty/moldy odor.
Beds could use some newer mattresses, not very comfortable. Breakfast was good. Limited communication with staff, especially at checkin. One visit was good enough for us.
- Lawrence (8/5): - A little off the wall, but if you like nostalgia this is the place.
- Oscar (8/5): Peace and quiet in a lovely setting. - Extraordinary guest house. Full of charming period features and creations from many visiting artists.
Would have appreciated a tour of the house and some of the estate on arrival. A volunteer kindly gave us information during our stay. The room was comfortable and clean. The surroundings were very appealing and picturesque. Only wish I could have used wifi of the house as my mobile network was not present there. Would recommend to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat. It is the most quiet setting I have ever experienced. Breakfast offering was very good quality.
- Judit (10/5): - Friendly staff, plenty to eat for breakfast. Huge bath and comfortable bed.
- Melanie (6/5): - This was probably a glorious place in its day, but it needs a lot of TLC. My room was lovely, feather pillows were comfy, but the bed was rather soft. No soap or shampoo in the bathroom. There was tea service in the room, but I had to wash the kettle as it was dusty and there were spider webs in the bedroom window. The bedroom door would not lock from the outside side.
After I arrived, I didn't see a person until breakfast. The breakfast, btw, was very good. It's in a remote, quiet area, so it depends on what you value
- Charlie (10/5): - Astonishing, value for money, upgraded to wonderful bedroom and bathroom, lovely garden view. Fascinating history, outbuildings, walled garden etc
Breakfast excellent, apple juice from the orchard, home made jam. Warm welcome, ,beautiful surrounding countryside. Almost like travelling back in time.
Truly wonderful place
- Nigel (8/5): - A nice place with pleasant staff
- Carol (10/5): - It's a very old house and because of that, heating was sparse (I was cold the entire time). Lots of character with peacocks, pigs, and geese. The first night, the internet was just fine. But by the next morning it wasn't working for the next 16 hours. I don't use it for work, so that wasn't so much of a problem. The host is charming but I couldn't reach her by phone. So if you're understanding about certain things, you'll enjoy this property.
- Colette (10/5): Business trip - Rambling farmhouse with quirky decour
- M.Ali (2/5): - They never made it possible for me to stay in the property. Because on first day they didn't pickup my calls, nor open the main gate, even did not gave me keys and finally they also did not refund my money. They are totally fake and drama.
- Barbara (10/5): Magical & relaxing. - We stayed 6 nights at this wonderful, homey location! We stayed in the Brewhouse and loved every minute we were there. Made a fire about every evening and read till bedtime...even the 9 year old that was with us! Didn't turn on the TV 1 time! Feels like you are in the middle of nowhere but a small town is only 5 minutes away. The only cons were: Breakfast not included unless you are in a B&B room - the brewhouse is not considered to be. And that we couldn't stay longer! Thanks, Rupert! 5 stars for sure!
- Mark (10/5): Decent - Nice id stay again very comfortable and friendly
- Patricia (10/5): Beautiful gem, with stunning accommodation - An amazingly beautiful place. We were just sorry that we only had one night here. We will definitely be returning as there is so much to see and do
- Terry (10/5): - This place is a gem of a find. If you're looking for a massive TV in your room with super fast wifi and soulless furniture and plastic coffee then this place is not for you...
It is a beautifully well preserved and restored country estate with quirkiness and style that is rare to find.
Spotlessly clean and characterful. The bed was probably the most comfortable b&b bed I've ever slept in.
In a super quiet, rural location it is a haven of peace and quiet in sumptuous comfort.
Ok, theres limited phone signal but you can still make calls if you need to. Personally i used it as a retreat and never looked at my phone while i stayed.
Lots of places to vist. Restaurants, take aways and pubs (i can recommend the quality food at the nearby Red Lion) just a short drive or why not walk down the hill and soak up some of the glorious surroundings.
Treated like family from the moment i arrived.
The dining room is homely and an experience all of its own but go grab a book, make a tea/coffee (lots to choose from) and sot in the fabulous lounge. I went in summer but i bet the log fire brings a real charm in the colder months.
Ill be back.
- William David (10/5): - Comfortable, and very obliging staff
- Philip (10/5): Great golf - Had a great time, played a lot of golf, even the peacocks liked us !!!
- katrina (8/5): - The area and land the property is on is absolutely stunning. So tranquil and peaceful. We loved taking walks down to the waterfall which was very good the soul to just sit and listen to. If you are looking for a perfectly clean straight edged property to stay at, this is not for you, it is a quirky cottage which is full of character and history. I urge you to read the hiatory on glynhir, it is quite fascinating. Although there was not the amenities we are used to with a rental we loved every moment staying at this charming lodge. Rupert and the others are all very friendly, and anything we asled for we quickly recieved, so thank you for your service.
- Nichola (8/5): - Beautiful location.
- Mary (6/5): - When we arrived the owner seemed agitated and asked if we had reservations. There was feces in the toilet abd we wondered how clean the room was Beds were not comfortable breakfast was good owner disappeared and we were not able to say goodbye or thank her
- Lorraine (8/5): - A lovely place to stay. It felt very comfortable and the room was lovely. The breakfast was great too. Very friendly.
- Jeff (8/5): - Quiet, comfortable and unique.
- Darren (10/5): - Lovely and Quiet very friendly. Excellent value for money
- Gamma (10/5): peacocks galore - Rupert, very chilled host and so lovely and friendly. Be prepared to be transported back into time.
- Robert (10/5): - Beautiful place to stay. Very warm and friendly staff. Comfortable bed and room. Lovely breakfast. Definitely plan to stay again. There is a beautiful waterfall on the property and the walk to it is wonderful.
- A (10/5): - Very nice indeed.
Not your average B&B.
- S (10/5): A very happy couple after perfect stay. - Wonderful location and very friendly owners. Stayed in a b&b room whilst having opportunity to check a number of the other room options for next stay considerations. Every one individual and enticing in its own right. Surrounded by fields overflowing with sheep & lambs as well as the ample grounds including a traditional country house walled garden. Came away completely relaxed. Highly recommended.
- flory (6/5): - Beautiful property with lots of history.
In need of TLC, mostly easy jobs that are free to repair, light switch hanging off the wall exposing wires, broken seat in the room, that could result in an injury, toilet handle loose making difficult to flush.
Limited breakfast.
Issues with the boiler on first night, but was sort it, thank you.
Overall enjoyed our stay, but it wasn't the most comfortable.
- Robert (10/5): - Large bedroom with garden view
Plenty of coffee and biscuits
Quiet and peaceful
- Mick (8/5): - Triple room with garden view. What a lovely property. We had a very big room and bathroom. It’s a very old but amazing propertywhich some of which is in need of repairs
- Phil (8/5): - Nice to have electric car charging
- Zena (10/5): Magical - Absolutely magical , definitely booking again
- Ken (10/5): Beautiful - Beautiful rural setting. Hosts could not be more helpful.
Will definitely stay again
- John (6/5): Lovely little place needs some TLC - Heres an honest review, this place is a bit drab and rundown with a tad too much clutter, if you're the type of person that needs all modern things like a tv in your room and wifi or if you need the owners to be on hand then this isn't the place for you however if you value peace tranquility, victoriana furniture and fittings, animal and walks then you cant go wrong, the hostess was lovely and friendly, breakfast had a good selection of fruit, cereals, toast, yoghurt and full cooked breakfast which i had and it was lovley, unfortunately our shower wasn't working fully and just trickled and i couldn't find her to ask to swap room but we made do and it didn't spoil our overnight stay.
- Gavin (10/5): Wonderfully peaceful - We stayed for 2 night wish it was 2 weeks very peaceful lovely apartment we were expecting a room or maybe 2 bedrooms but we had 3 and a fully fitted kitchen and living room . Hope to stay again
- Jonathan (10/5): Highly recommend - Beautiful old unspoilt mansion very well presented clean room would highly recommend for a quiet getaway , extremely friendly staff and excellent breakfast will go again
- Liz (10/5): Relaxing - Very quiet and relaxing, amazing grounds and perfect for a romantic retreat away from all the technological day to day stresses.
- Lee (10/5): Wish we could have stayed longer! - Had a lovely stay here in the B&B. We stayed only 1 night but would really loved to have stayed longer. We'll be back for sure! Perfect setting, peacocks and animals, beautiful gardens/grounds with nearby waterfall and walks on site. Just what we needed
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Really comfortable and clean room. Lovely old house.
- Chris (10/5): - Really good stay, we stayed as we was working in the area but it would be a fantastic stay with family
- Paul (8/5): - The room was nice and service was very good
Excellent breakfast
- Sue (10/5): Fantastic 4 night say - lovely warm welcome, huge room, fantastic grounds to explore, friendly and helpful hosts - breakfast was great
- Caroline (10/5): - Lovely large cottage with spacious bedooms and ensuites. Lovely to use the log burner as the weather was a little cooler. Rural setting with animals on site to see & feed. The waterfall within the grounds is stunning and well worth a wander down to. We were very pleased with our break and hope to return.soon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Awesome property. Dont miss the waterfall walk which is within the propery. Waterfall was amazing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely old building and setting, very friendly staff, good facilities and great breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent b&b, friendly staff and beautiful location.
- jogun (6/5): Transparency , Honesty and choices - It was okay in the sense that we needed a play to just sleep otherwise for people who are vegetarian the place does not offer much choice especially that now there are choices on the market.
Regarding the booking I asked for three adults and the system clearly displayed the choice but when we arrived they asked for an additional £40.00 because the gentleman said we declared 2 adults and 1 child which was not true.
A bit of honesty would have have the stay more agreeable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great people great hotel. It was like staying with your favourite posh, creative, relatives. Cool and casual people. I felt privileged to have stayed there. I will return.
- Richard (10/5): A view of the past. - A really interesting place. Unique. If you like gently aging buildings with eclectic contents this is for you. If you want all the charcterless nature of city hotels then stay away. A great place to explore, amazing barns, agricultural buildings, walled garden etc - but not like the National Trust. No army of volunteers to ruin the charm. Very friendly family creating a very relaxed atmosphere. I wish I lived closer and could help with a bit of gardening, building work and pottery.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We was only there for one night, but wish we'd spent a week. So relaxing
- David (10/5): Pleasant expungements. - Meet well and shown around. Very friendly. It’s a museum within a house. House obviously old , but very clean. Rooms have plenty of space and grounds are superb. Very quiet only noise heard was the the wildlife. Breakfast very good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely stay - Beautiful location, nice nearby walks. Friendly people. Lovely stsy
