- Thomas (8/5): Fine for 1 night in Imabari - One night after bike trip over the islands to Imabari. Picked the hotel for closeness to rental car pickup next day. Close to Imabari Castle. Imabari isn't really anything special, hotel is typical mid-range, totally fine. Probably would have gone for western breakfast after 12 days in Japan, Japanese breakfast is set, not a buffet.

- FREDDY (10/5): - I made a mistake while reserving and arrived the day after (the day I thought I had booked). They were very kind to allow me to check in without paying again. That was a great gesture. Nice hotel close to the port, and 20 minutes from the train station. Breakfast was good.

- Samuel (6/5): - Hotel room was cheap, do not expect much from the location as there is nothing within the local area to do or see. It seems very derelict and you will need transport to access other activities and provision particularly if you want food. Checkin was not great; understand there is a language barrier. However the receptionist made us feel incredibly awkward. I handed the passports for the two guests booked into one room and indicated myself as the main booker. She continued by checking passports several times, asking several times if we had meant to book one room. I would assume due to the fact we were two males. This caused embarrassment with others queuing to check-in behind us and showed a lack of diversity understanding. Also once finally checked in, no information was given at all about the hotel, amenities available, whether breakfast or dinner was available and check out times which would have been expected. Upon checkout; no pleasantries exchanged just took the keys. Again understand a language barrier however I would not recommend staying here. Particularly if an international tourist due to the clear language barriers.

- engel24 (10/5): Excellent Ryokan In Imabari - ホテル菊水今治が一番ですよ! - The hotel's reception area and bar are quite modern with some cute Japanese décor and homewares on shelves. There is also a complimentary 'amenity buffet' so you can pick up some extra soaps, shampoos, bath salts, etc. any time you need them. We had a washitsu (traditional Japanese tatami room) on the 3rd floor that was moderate in size but very clean and looks to have had a recent renovation as the bathroom was very new and modern. Imabari's main shopping street is just a 2 minute walk away with some nice coffee shops and homeware stores. There are also two Poeme stores very closeby where you can buy Imabari's local sweet treat which are perfect with coffee and also as a boxed gift idea too! The nearest convenience store (a Family Mart) is about a 5 minute walk away and Imabari Castle is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel's front entrance and makes for an interesting afternoon and has an excellent 360 degree view from the top. The hotel has bicycles that you can rent for free, however the seats were very uncomfortable and even a little painful (though it might just be me, as I haven't ridden a bicycle in quite a few years and am a big heavy Australian bloke!) Our futons were very comfortable and we had a great nights' sleep and felt very refreshed in the morning. Unfortunately we made the decision to go to the Imabari Kokusai Hotel for breakfast instead of having breakfast at Hotel Kikusui Imabari and we had quite possibly the worst buffet breakfast there. Really regret we didn't just stay and have breakfast in-house, as the food at Kikusui looked to have been far better and at a fraction of the price too! Couldn't fault this hotel and will absolutely stay again on my next visit to my old hometown of Imabari!

- Verified traveler (10/5): 夕飯付のプランがおススメ♪ - 夕食付のプランにしました。愛媛と言えば、鯛料理が有名ですが、鯛料理づくしの夕飯でご飯は鯛釜飯♪チェックインの際、スタッフの方が夕飯に降りてくる時間を前もって聞いて下さり、その時間に合わせて釜めしが食べれるようにして下さってました。また、量も丁度良かったです！加えて、１階フロントでは好みの入浴剤も無料で選べます。ユニットバスは大変狭いですが、長距離運転で疲れた身体をリラックス出来助かりました。

- satoshi (4/5): 一泊二日和室朝食有で利用しました。 - 今治周辺に宿があまり見つからず画像で建物がきれい目立ったので今回利用させていただきました。エントランスは写真のようにきれいでした。選択したプランは和室で進んで行くと階段を挟むと急に嗅いだことのある昔ながらのホテルの匂いがしてきます。おそらく会談を挟んで新館、旧館になっているのだと思います。なので和室を選択すると旧館になると思われます。エレベーターホールでは枕のチョイスができます。いざお部屋に入るとプチリフォームした箇所が所々見受けられます。夏場の利用だったので直ぐにエアコンを入れるとカビ臭の洗礼、喚起をしようと窓を開けると網戸は無し、空気清浄機があったのでONするとこちらからも少々のカビ臭。手を洗おうと向かうと手洗い・お風呂・トイレの一体型、ノズルの向きで手洗い・お風呂が切り変わります。シャンプー類はPOLA製。トイレは松下電工の洗い付きでしたがいつまで待っても洗ってくれることはなかったです。朝食は和食御膳で程よい量でした。駐車場は狭め、コンビニ遠め、10分くらい歩くとドラックストアがありました。スタッフの方は笑顔で親切でした。コロナ禍何とか乗り切ってください、次は洋室利用します。
- Akira (4/5): 予告なしに追加料金発生 - 今回は思ったよりべっが小さかったのでフロントに大きめもしくはシングルベッド2台の部屋に変更していただけないかと尋ねたらすぐに追加料金が発生するとも言わずにもう一部屋用意していただきましたが、翌日チェックアウトの際に追加料金を支払う羽目になりました。 せっかくその他が良かっただけに残念です。

- Verified traveler (10/5): - The free bicycle rental is a nice bonus (definitely the best way to explore Imabari and the Shimanami Kaido). Our room had a good view of Imabari Castle. It did get quite warm, so it's probably best to leave the air conditioning running. The ferry terminal is right next door, and there is a bus that goes to Imabari Station if you don't fancy the 1.3km walk.

- hinau (8/5): Very pleasant staff - We ( distinctly elderly) did some of the bikeway. Great. Taxi from hotel to sun route, electric assist bikes, gorgeous views - easy! Room was spacious and modernized. The bathroom was an older and smaller version of the capsule bathrooms found everywhere. We walked from the station ok. The location was very nice, adjacent to the port and the walking street. Restaurants were not that obvious, but the staff marked a map for us. Lots of extras available, shelves with pillows, iron, whatever, to just help ourselves. There were plenty of washers free and dryers not that expensive. We found that having one western breakfast ( with the coffee) and one Japanese breakfast we were able to meet our needs. Cafe over at the port building was good for coffee and snacks. I think most guests were bike riding.

For a meal, including a nice breakfast, visit Terminal 01 and Terminal 02 connected to the bus station across the street at the waterfront. The views from the outdoor patio at the top (Terminal 02) are fabulous.

- Ray1962 (10/5): Rental bike return; laundry facilities - I came with my 3 twenty-something children. We biked the Shiminami Kaedo cycle route and this was our lodging at the end of the route. We rented 4 bikes in Onamichi and were able to leave them at this hotel to arrange return with no additional hotel charge. FYI, You won’t get your bike rental deposit back if you don’t return your bike to the place you rented it from. This hotel also has good laundry facilities; no charge for washers; driers are ¥100 for each 30 minutes - if you have a big load, you will need 90-120 minutes to get clothing completely dry.
- Brian (10/5): Helpful staff, motorcycle parking, good breakfast - Great hotel staff. Clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast. I got an eye infection and I don’t speak Japanese. They arranged an appointment with a local eye clinic for me. They couldn’t have been more helpful. They have free no hassle covered motorcycle parking. There isn’t much around the hotel, but if you walk a few blocks away, the Imabari castle is there as well a a convenience store and a few restaurants.
- IndeeMom (8/5): Good location in Imabari - This modern hotel is a 5 minute walk from the castle and 1 minute from the shopping mall. Our twin room was spacious for Japanese standards - it even included a sofa. The bathroom was tight and all plastic so no electric outlets. In fact, there was nowhere in the room to dry my hair in front of a mirror. The bathroom tap was shared between the sink and shower so if one person was showering, the other couldn’t use the sink. Never seen that before! However, the AC worked great and the beds were comfortable - softer than the usual beds in Japan. All in all, a good stay.
- EduSnacker (10/5): Direct view to the castle, comfortable room and very helpful staff - By far our most pleasant accommodation at Shikoku on our four-day trip. We had a perfect city view outside from our reserved semi-double room. The room was graciously spacious compared to other similar types of rooms that we have previously booked. In addition, the hotel staff were overly considerate of us and very eager to help us and make us feel comfortable during our stay. Would definitely come again if I happen to be in the area.

- Brian (10/5): We’ll Be Back! - The manager was extremely helpful in assisting us with riding the Shimanami Kaido. Hotel is located across from waterfront & bike station. The breakfast & dinners at the hotel was fabulous.
- Terence (8/5): - I lived in Imabari for 2 years and my husband and I stayed for one night before doing the Shimanami Kaido. While the hotel is well located for the port and downtown area, there is little around to offer foreign travellers, and the hotel staff don't speak English (I speak some Japanese). We tried to arrange to get our luggage transported to our next hotel (in Kurashiki, one hour north of Onomichi) but despite the information available on the Internet and my previous research, we were informed that we could not get it delivered on the one-day service to Kurashiki, and it could ONLY be transferred to Onomichi, and ONLY to a hotel on their list. As we didn't have a booking in Onomichi we tried unsuccessfully to get the staff to arrange an alternative for us. While the lady at the front desk went out of her way to help us, this couldn't be arranged and we were forced to make a cheap hotel booking in Onomichi just to get our luggage delivered. I give this advice to anyone wanting to arrange hotels in Imabari/Onomichi, who is wanting to do the bike ride and get luggage transferred, especially if you do not know any Japanese language, as there is little English spoken by people in Imabari. Apart from this stress, our stay was fine. :)

- Paul (8/5): - Arrived on what must have been a local closing day as not much was open. We went to a local okonomiyaki restaurant where the owners were very friendly despite the language barrier.
- Nigel (10/5): Imabari Hotel Kikusui - This is a medium size hotel about 10 minutes walk to station or Y680 taxi Close to Imabari port. Room was small but very comfortable with small capsule bathroom. Yukata supplied with comfortable couch to sit on. Meals very impressive with unusual Japanese flavours and dishes. Staff welcoming and helpful.
- HelloJapan (10/5): Spacious room, clean, friendly and comfortable - Stayed in twin room - each bed was about the size of the usual double-size bed in most Japanese hotels, and the room was enormous. We were able to put our bikes and large trailers in the room, and still have lots of room to move around in, even with a large desk and full-size couch in the room! Friendly staff, very clean room, great deal for $110 for 2 (nicer than most $110/night rooms in Chicago.) Would highly recommend.
