- Margaret (10/5): We liked the hotel very, very much! - The hotel didn’t have breakfast. We don’t know why the restaurant wasn’t serving breakfast. On the first day, it had fruit and muffins out and available, but on the morning we were there, nothing was set out. It would have been nice if the hotel had been consistent with this. The bathroom door wouldn’t stay shut. It was clearly defective and we told the staff about this.
- Catherine (6/5): -
- Ashley (10/5): Incredible staff who worked hard to make sure we were well taken care of. - This was an exceptional stay.
No, you are not in a large city with endless staff, but the staff that work at this hotel are trained in multiple areas, and do an outstanding job at customer service.
They are efficient, have great attitudes, and make sure you’re happy. This is a very clean, well maintained, very safe hotel.
In Marfa, you will not get fast service most places. There are a ton of tourists, and this is a very small town. Enjoy the slower pace, accept that it’s not fast-paced, and enjoy it. We liked everything about this property.

- Yi (10/5): Comfortable , relaxed, and delicious stay! - Location, excellent staff, Ms. Miranda and Ms. Maryanne, hostess at the restaurant. Clean and classically and tastefully decorated. Nothing!
- PRISCILLA (7/5): Lovely stay but a bit overpriced. - The hotel is very comfortable. Room is spacious and bed and linens are nice. The pool area, a block from the hotel is very relaxing and pleasant.
I appreciate they are dog friendly. There were helpful staff in the afternoon and evening but very few available in the morning. The luggage carts aren’t great. Hard to maneuver and for a $350 hotel I would have expected staff. Our bathroom sink was plugged and didn’t drain.
- Shaun (7/5): - Location You can hear people above and people in the hallway
- Pasha (10/5): - Absolutely fantastic in every way… I can’t believe one of my new favorite hotels is in such a remote location. They think of everything in the rooms. The servers are so kind. The food is great. Love this place.
- Pasha (10/5): - Fast. Fantastic. Fabulous.
- Pavlina (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (7/5): Good -
- Juan (10/5): - Phenomenal, simply the best.
- Noe (10/5): - Pros: One of the most comfortable beds/beddings I’ve ever slept on. Spacious, well-appointed rooms, slippers and robes in room is a plus, but expected at this price point. Delicious on-site restaurant with great waitstaff.
Cons: Staff could be significantly warmer and friendlier in the lobby bar. The pool was quite dirty and understaffed, not enough towels, and trash isn’t diligently picked up because it is so understaffed.
This is a great hotel, easily the best option in Marfa but for $300 a night, there is some definite room for improvement.
- Aracely (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Ayako (10/5): Great art collection at each floor!!! - Art Pool was not clean
- Malady (10/5): A great hotel - Great rooms. Good restaurants. Excellent staff.
- stevelL3875KD (4/5): Good potential but a bad stay - things should be fixed. - Room was very nice but the hotel was understaffed (nobody at stations many times) and the staff they had seemed quite inexperienced and did not know much (couldn’t give advice on nearby drives, got different answers from different staff on hotel issues, etc). Water pressure was super low and the HVAC fan rumbled like a freight truck rolling by all night long. No streaming capabilities on TV’s because they don’t have any of the TV remotes (only DISH cable remote). Very bad job of hiding wires and cables (hanging down in big clumps down the wall etc). Right on the train tracks - not terrible but loud when passing.
The hotel has alot of potential and the issues are fixable - but the issues caused us to not enjoy the stay which is unfortunate.
Mainly poor service, understaffed and they need staff with more experience.
- Ernest (10/5): Upscale experience deep in the heart of Texas! - Comfortable, luxurious accommodations in an unlikely place. We like everything about Hotel Saint George.
- Samantha (8/5): Very good -
- H (10/5): Great hotel n terrific location - Location and large comfortable suite. NA

- Brandon (6/5): Pleasant -
- Luz (7/5): Lovely spot.,I’ll be back not with my husband. - Great room. We ate at the restaurant and were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Great carne asada tacos.
Coffee was excellent. There wasn’t a place in front to unload our luggage. All of the parking spaces in front of entrance were occupied- Not helpful to those with mobility issues.
Did like the parking lot across the side street- nicely done .
Didn’t like that we had to go to the first floor to get ice. Having said that, the staff members that helped us with this were very understanding and kind to us.
Was surprised the young lady at front desk at checkout didn’t seem to know the names of any galleries in town.
- HubCityWanderer (10/5): The Best Hotel in Marfa. . . and possibly beyond! - I have stayed at the St. George many times, and it has always been superb, but this visit topped them all! The hotel staff was absolutely superlative, going above and beyond when we needed advice about restaurants and help with our room (lost key, etc.) The bar and restaurant staff were also terrific -- friendly and efficient. If you have ever stayed in Marfa, you know that getting good service in any hotel, store, or restaurant can be a challenge. The St. George must be a great place to work, because they have found the very best people.
The food and drink at this hotel are always excellent, with a generous happy hour (if you like gin, I recommend the Bee's Knees) and a fun chicken-fried steak dinner on Wednesdays in addition to the regular menu. This time there was a half-price special for dinner if you ate at the bar instead of the tables, enabling us to enjoy a pricier meal (and the good company of the bartender!). The hotel has also added complimentary snacks to its coffee stand. Granny Smith apples and Mexican wedding cookies were much appreciated!
The rooms are modern and industrial in style, which exactly suits the geography of west Texas and the arty vibe of Marfa. Huge windows, lots of art on the walls, and very comfy beds and chairs make this a great place to work or chill in between seeing the sights. The details are superb too -- Aesop bath products, ear plugs for the late-night train, a really good coffeemaker -- and there is plenty of storage for your luggage and gear.
The St. George is simply the best hotel I have ever stayed in, anywhere. It's not to be missed if you are in the area. One night and you will become a regular!
- Wendy (10/5): A modern minimalist architectural gem in this historical art mecca -
- Joan (10/5): Exceptional - Very clean Bathroom door wouldn’t stay shut!
- Evelyn (10/5): There were not any good restaurants. Those recommended were not very good either. - access to good coffee would have been nice after a long drive. The machine in the room was ok but there was no easy access to milk. There was no help with our luggage.
- Jene (9/5): Superb -
- Jennifer (10/5): Lovely, comfortable and stylish - Great art on the walls, cool building, fantastic restaurant & service, comfy beds, nice windows, bathrobes, ease of parking- we parked right in front of the lobby door. Loved the Aesop soaps. The pillows were a bit too plump, and we both would have appreciated a thinner pillow or a down type of material that is more malleable.
- Ernest (10/5): You will be surprised! - Unusual luxury experience in the middle of nowhere.
High end all the way! Nothing
- Jennifer (10/5): Great! Really loved the vibe - Central to downtown Pool and hot tub closed until March
- wesleybradeniv (6/5): Not worth the price - Overall: Not worth the money. I don't recommend. Fancy dressings (bath products, linens, etc), but poor fundamentals (room quality - bathroom fixture was held together with tape - and service)
I was excited to stay here given the hotel's history, the minimalist aesthetic (in line with Marfa's art history), and the promise of a luxurious stay.
I left feeling like I had paid much too much for the experience I received. The rooms look nice, and some of the touches (Aesop products, beautiful towels) are fantastic. But other parts of the rooms/hotel feel too cheap to command $400/night. The heavy room doors don't close softly, so you constantly hear doors slamming throughout the night as people come and go. The walls and ceilings are thin.
And our toilet paper roll holder was held together with duct tape.
The service was lacking, too. It felt very amateur for the price/luxury they are trying to project. People at the front desk didn't greet us. No one asked us how our stay was, even when we checked out. They seemed more interested in chatting to each other or eating at the desk than they did interacting with guests.
- Mary (9/5): Superb -
- Joey (5/5): The hotel is overall nice but managed poorly. - The two bars were nice and the food was good. The hotel was clean. The downtown location was a plus. The servers and bartenders did a great job, and staffing seemed sufficient. Lots of good places to visit within walking distance. When we booked, a pool/hot tub open all day into the evening was advertised. Which is one of the main reasons we booked this hotel. When we got there, we were informed the pool/hot tub would close at 3pm daily. We liked to relax in the evenings in a hot tub. There is nothing more irritating to us than a hotel advertising an amenity, then that amenity not being available when we arrive.
According to the hotel's website, lunch was available daily. When we got there, that wasn't available either. Again, another falsely advertised amenity.
Additionally, no ice machines in the hotel. We had to go to a convenience store daily to re-ice our cooler.
No microwave in the rooms. The food portions in the restaurant were large. It would have been nice to have been able to re-heat our leftovers. Instead, we had to throw away huge amounts of food.
- lalangl (4/5): WARNING! Kids are running this place. Poor customer service. - Requested a quiet room but was refused upon check in, even though hotel was not full. “Rooms are assigned and cannot be changed.” After 2 nights of little sleep in the room above the restaurant and bar, we insisted to be moved to a quiet room. The room we moved into had a refrigerator that would not cool down below 47 degrees F. Called the front desk but was told that all refrigerators in the hotel were set to this temperature. We got hold of the maid in the hall who checked out the ref. She then proceeded to call the maintenance man who replaced the unit. THE FRONT DESK CLERKS ARE KIDS WITH POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. They cannot be bothered by the customer’s concerns. Kudos to the maids and the maintenance man.
- Bul67 (10/5): A great experience in Marfa. - We stayed a night at the Saint George. A modern, well maintained and beautifully designed hotel. The room was very spacious and well equipped, with high end amenities and a very comfortable bed. The staff were friendly and attentive and the whole experience was pleasant and welcoming. We had dinner at the restaurant and it completed a great stay. This is the place to stay while in Marfa.
- Debi (8/5): Perfect choice for a Marfa visit - Excellent location in the centre of Marfa, this is an on-trend hotel with a great bar/restaurant and easy-going vibe. Easy on-street parking and walking distance to Marfa's shopping. Aesop products in the roomy bathroom. Some railroad noise at night but not intrusive enough to disturb sleep.
- kesselmt (4/5): Pass: Trying to be something more than they are and failing - Meh. Poor service bordering on amateurish. Room cleaning was spotty. Arrived back from day out (after 4 pm) to unserviced room. Short on coffee cups and coffee in room most days . Front desk tried makes excuses that new arrivals get serviced first, but it was Sunday and there are not a lot of arrivals. No, not how this works. Restaurant and bar were frequently out of things (ribs, Bolognese, tomatoes, and various desserts). Gets tedious to have reselect and order a couple of times. And often slow; basic omelette took over an hour to arrive at table. Have had better service at half the price. Cannot recommend.
- Storyteller428194 (2/5): Not Texas hospitality - The rudest service from the front desk and restaurant/bar. I have never been treated with such disrespect. I am in the hospitality business and would be horrified if my staff treated guests the way we were treated today. I will never recommend this place to anyone.
- Tessa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Susan (10/5): - Terrific room, bed, shower. Excellent WIFI. Attentive front desk staff.
- Edward (5/5): Clean, New Interiors - But Trains Are a Turn Off - It's very pricey for Marfa, Texas...but Marfa is quickly becoming gentrified. The hotel is a renovated old building, the interiors are new and it looks like a new hotel. Safes, in-room coffee and restaurants that close very early. Marfa, for the most part, rolls up the sidewalks by 9 PM. Even the all-night gas station closes at 9.
One very unpleasant item about the hotel: it's located on a railroad intersection, and Marfa has been a major train pass-through for over 100 years. Unfortunately, every train lays on its horn while traversing the hotel's street, and every time it goes by, you can bet it's going to wake you up.
BRING A VERY GOOD SET OF EARPLUGS. Restaurant closed at damn-near sundown.
TRAIN BLOWING ITS HORN ALL NIGHT WHILE PASSING THROUGH
If you have a lot of luggage, make sure you find a luggage cart before you unload your car. They're scarce and it's LONG walk from their parking lot to the hotel if you have a lot of bags.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- Jill (7/5): The best place to stay in Marfa. - - excellent staff - friendly, helpful and accommodating
- great amenities
- good food on site
- wonderful toiletries provided, very nice towels
- full-blown fitness center available - the rooms (I stayed in (two different ones due to AC issues) had a musty, damp smell
- no fan in the bathroom, led to things staying damp
- carpets in halls needed cleaning, replacing
- lumpy pillows
- Kerri (10/5): Stay here for everything you need - Modern, clean, quiet and perfect
Comfortable beds, nice bathrooms! Great amenities. Food in the restaurant was great!! Our waitress, she had short blonde hair, she was awesome! Nothing
- Brandy (10/5): - 👍
- Kathryn (10/5): - Loved the sheets! Great hotel. Maybe, add tea options for the room or have option downstairs in am! Great pool, quiet, appreciative of the ear plugs for the train. Loved the cute note of the Marfa train history. Made me smile in the middle of night!
- Crissy (8/5): - Overall it was a great experience for a short getaway from home. The hotel was awesome. Very clean, the mood was very relaxing. I will definitely stay again. The only thing that happened was the smoke alarm went off at 6am for no reason, but it was quickly fixed.
- Leealvarado91 (10/5): WOW WOW - The Saint George is a hotel like absolutely no other. The staff is phenomenal and so attentive, the food is delicious and the amenities are out of this world.
it is a great place to relax after a long day of working in theatre, it has allowed me to process and rest my brain and body.
Do not hesitate to book here, Tim and his amazing staff will take such good care of you!
- MarkCharney (10/5): Best in the Country - The Hotel St George is one of the best places to stay in the country. The staff are great, and the rooms, huge and luxurious. I always find that, when I stay here, it seems like home. I'm always remembered by the staff, who are quick to serve me and welcoming/friendly. The beds are amazing. Just the right firmness, and the suites are terrific. My wife and I come here often and this stay, almost two weeks, was truly the best vacation I can imagine. Heartily recommended.
- robyncL548EF (10/5): Amazing Stay - This hotel is amazing!! First the historical aspect is so rich! The staff is so friendly and helpful. Our room is so spacious and comes with all of the comforts from home plus some! Robes, slippers, luxurious shampoo, soap and lotion! Large fluffy towels! Great storage and space to work! THE BED! OMG! So comfortable!! The air-conditioner works like a charm which is great being in the desert! The pool and hot tub are fabulous with cabanas for drinks and visiting. Walking distance to many cool Marfa sites! I will stay here again!!!
- Jenny (10/5): - Loved the high-end esthetic and cleanliness! Loved the history behind the property. Great food at the restaurant!
- Jimmy (10/5): Fun trip - We enjoyed our stay. Staff was excellent. Food was great.
Marfa is a great place to visit. Davis mountains are close, along with the MacDonald observatory.
- brad (10/5): - Great place, you will enjoy it.
- Kate (10/5): Special - I was deciding between Hotel Saint George and Hotel Paisano and I’m so glad I chose Hotel St George! It’s clean, modern, fresh. Great location walking distance to galleries and restaurants (we enjoyed Margaret’s for dinner). But what makes it so special is the art! Amazing contemporary pieces in the hallways, lobby, in the rooms. I was walking around mesmerized by all the art, I even walked through all 4 floors just to see what the other floors had on display. Thanks for curating such a special spot ✨
- Camille (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roberto (10/5): - Quiet night in Marfa.
This is definitely the best hotel in town
- Annalili (10/5): Exceptional - This hotel was absolutely perfect. From the space itself, location, amenities. The Rooms, the staff, the restaurant…. Probably one of the best places I’ve stayed
- Julie (8/5): Very good - Love the design and proximity to shopping, galleries, and restaurants. Frequent and loud trains just outside our window.
- Temuri (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katina (8/5): - nicest hotel, modern and clean. friendly and helpful staff. only minor issue is room cleaning was hit or miss. they sometimes left dishes and had a shortage of robes.
- Cissy (8/5): We love Marfa. - Good location
The cleaning staff was helpful and responsive.
The breakfast was nice.
We had a great steak at the back bar. The train is a bit of a thing. But that’s just the way it is.
I think the St. George should put lots more into the front. More flowers and maybe bar service at the tables outside. It is kinda dull. The front area is in the shade and has a great breeze.
- twinsma (6/5): Basic and clean but no hot water - This is a basic new-ish hotel with a stylish flair but is not a luxury hotel. Our room was clean and fine for one night on a road trip with our large dog who was allowed to stay too. My biggest problem was that there was no hot water and though it's not SUPER expensive these days, at $500/night before pet fees in a tiny dusty town in the middle of nowhere with little open, they should reliably provide guests with hot water. If they can't or don't, they should offer a reduction in the rate. They didn't.
- David (9/5): Served our purpose while in Marfa but $$ - Very clean and excellent location. Everything is high price. Ate off the happy hour menu.
One order of each - tacos all carbon, chips and salsa, one salad. Add 2 bloody Mary’s and 1 beer.
With tip - $100😖😖😖
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (7/5): Good -
- Katarina (9/5): All great - Well located, very comfortable, nice design
- MARIA (10/5): - Love that place, the food is amazing.
- Carole (10/5): - Lovely modernized hotel in center of town and amidst galleries. Great restaurant and bar. A tad expensive for what it was, and as compared to others nearby. Staff was very accommodating and friendly, some of nicest I’ve met.
- Stacy Jo (2/5): - When they checked me in they charged me again even though I’d already paid Expedia and then they didn’t know how to refund me and now I’m stuck waiting for the charge to post so I can dispute it. Otherwise a nice place.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- Shelby (10/5): Exceptional -
- normaw806 (8/5): Dinner was served - The food in this place was quite good (it's the top restaurant in Marfa), we were a bit early and the restaurant wasn't filled yet, the bar was loud and lively. The decor was upscale old western style. A local had recommended it as their favorite place in town.
- Thomas (8/5): - Really nice, modern hotel in historic building. Room is spacious and quiet (other than the trains - though innkeepers have managed that in a fun way).
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Calvin (2/5): - Pretty crappy and cheap of hotel to not give us a breakfast voucher JUST BECAUSE we booked via Expedia. We paid far more than other guests for the night and to not have breakfast included is unacceptable. Never staying here again.
- kaylaartt (8/5): Well Appointed Room - It is nice to open the door to a hotel room, and I like everything about the room. It's well appointed with a comfortable bed and places to hang your clothes, and it's stylish. We were there for three nights while visiting art sites in Marfa. There is ample street parking or parking in a lot nearby. The location is perfect, and you can walk to everything around town. The hotel used local art in the hotel and rooms, which is excellent. There is a lovely gift shop off the lobby.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - Gym was far away in separate building
