Guest Reviews
- Omer (8/5): Very good -
- Salma (9/5): Superb -
- Robin (6/5): Pleasant -
- Yamil (10/5): Exceptional -
- sc_nov (6/5): Small hotel in Amasya - 2nd hotel of 12D Turkey tour, arrived in Amasya from Bolu for a night stay in this traditional guest house next to the river. There is porter service as there is no elevators in the building. Stairs were old and narrow. Room was a spacious suite with a queen size bed and sofa for triple occupants but was dimly lit and unfortunately there was no hot water that night. Whilst the place was very much in need of an upgrade, the lunch, dinner and breakfast at the restaurant were not bad. Staff were helpful. Its location provided a comfortable walk along the scenic river with shops and services.
- cynsync21 (8/5): Pretty satisfied. - The hotel is a bit dated, but the staff were so friendly and professional. Beds are abit hard but i slept well. The size of the room i got was very small while my friends beside me were super spacious, so depends on your luck i guess. Quite dark at night. Very good breakfast.
- bikerguysg (8/5): Location location location - Staff- friendly without being overbearing.
Room 209- mattress was not too soft. Thank heavens for one hotel so far which had good mattresses. The furniture needs some refurbishment though as the cupboard door that conceals the fridge, was hanging on one side. The fridge itself, wasn't really working as it wasn't cold.
Location-excellent location.
Meals- delicious and were good too, as they were individually served rather than a group sharing dish. After a while on tours, this was exactly what we needed.
- cstan108 (4/5): Good location but - Bad points:
The room is very small. It looks and feel dirty and dated. The shower in our room didn't work but when contacted the housekeeper was very prompt to attend and fix thr problem. No coffee making equipment in the room. The hotel needs a renovation urgently.
Good points:
Central location, near to Green River and the Old Town.
- Voyage825251 (4/5): Visit to Amasya Sept 2021 - The Lalehan Hotel was ideally located for an overnight stay in Amasya, We ate in the hotel restaurant for lunch on arrival as room not quite ready. Food and service excellent - breakfast ok - not a buffet - served on a plate. Traditional building, at front quite nice, but not quite as nice at back, overlooking river. The room, size wise was good and had a large balcony. The room itself, on closer inspection, however was in need of a major refurbishment - wallpaper coming off on wall between lobby and bathroom. Wonky tap in bathroom. Would like to have seen laminate floor instead of carpet- dont often see carpet in Turkish properties - stains on carpet and in bed runner. Slightly tatty furnishings, it look like there were cigarette burns on chair. OK for one night, but would not return.
- Selin (6/5): - Padisah suitinde isinma sorunu vardi elektrlkli isitici ile çözüldü
- François (10/5): Lalehan hotel, good start to visit Amasya - Very good hotel, to be recommanded to everyone who wish to visit the beautifulcity of Amasya.
Good breakfast with view on the Green River.
Service is good and rooms are nice and clean. City hotel but no noise and easy to park.
Rates are very good for the quality of the hotel.
- ERCÜMENT (10/5): - Üçüncü kalışım çok memnunum tekrar gidersem orada kalacağım.Tavsiye ederim
- Aytekin (6/5): Guzel bir hafta sonu - Guzel sakin ve temiz bir otel.sadce mutfak aşci ve yemek cesiti yetersiz.
- ZEYNEP47 (4/5): Not best of all - Some rooms need refurnishing. There were large stains on the carpets. One of my friends' room had dirty pillow covers. My room had a toilet behind the door which was totally absurd because you had to keep the door open by putting the waste bin in front of it. The furniture is tasteless. It is not a "boutique" hotel for me. The breakfast seemed okey but we found out that it wasn't, the pastry was not fresh at all.
- AliOsman (10/5): - Otel gayet temiz. Çalışanlar ilgili. Konfor bence yeterli. Kahvaltıyı beğendik..
- eminc874 (8/5): Decent hotel for the price. - İt was a nice quaint hotel. I wouldn't describe it as a boutique hotel, as I didn't get the same vibe from this place as I did from other boutique hotels.
İt was clean, staff were generally okay and friendly.
There was one incident were I felt as though the staff were a tad rude. I had booked my rooms, received my keys and went out to wonder the town, on my return, as soon as I stepped in I was abruptly told to make payment.
The described "chef salad" on the menu did not come out as described, with ingredients missing.
The keşkek I ordered, also came with 1 single piece of meat. Keşkek is usually a meaty meal.
Breakfast was above average with a nice selection of foods.
Great location by the river, nice views and centrally located.
- traintravelLondon (10/5): Small hotel and not best of all, not too tourist-y - Pretty hotel - some rooms not so good (though we easily got moved to a side room overlooking the river which was great). Good breakfast, friendly staff. Shamefully our Turkish very rudimentary. Hard to understand those who complain about poor English of hotel staff - we are in their place. We found a mixture of a few words, google and (admittedly poor) miming usually worked and provided a way of making local friends.
Good helpful, obliging desk staff
- moraira (6/5): You do not want to stay here unless you have a river facing room - The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the main tourist part of the town: a pleasant walk along the river bank
The hotel occupies a plot on the river bank, but a new extension has been built between the original hotel building and the river. The result is that none of the rooms in the original building have any view, many looking onto the walls of the new extension. Our room in the original building was dark and pokey and looked onto a bare wall a few feet away.
We asked for a move, and I said I was prepared to pay extra. Communication was a problem, and in the end they moved us without charge to a room in the new building with an oblique side view of the river.
There are no lifts, so be prepared to lug baggage up steep stairs
The restaurant, where breakfast is served is right on the river. The setting is great, the breakfast passable
With a river front room , I would recommend this hotel for its position. In any other sort of room, choose another hotel
- bulentca (8/5): Suberb room - We (2 adults + 1 child) stayed in the "Padişah" room and I can say that it's beyond my expectations!
Great terrace and barroom and a wonderful decorated room. At this moment I didn't sleep yet but I'm sure it will be great! It's near the Centre and very easy to find! This part is preferable because it is 5 min walk to the crowded part along the water and very quit. We're happy that we chose this Hotel.
- 112michalb (8/5): Cosy small hotel - The hotel is located at the quiet location by the river about 10 minutes north walking from the centre. The staff is friendly, however their English is limited.
Deluxe rooms, where we have been accomodated, have sufficient size and amenities.
Breakfast is classic Turkish without huge variety, but acceptable for such sized hotel. You can also have a dinner at on site restaurant.
For the price paid it has been more than satisfactory.
- Tedstravelblogs (6/5): Acceptable but underwhelming - Amasya’s stunning setting on the banks of the Yeşilırmak in a narrow mountain defile, with sheer rock escarpments towering over the town centre is complimented by many graceful old Ottoman houses that have been converted into charming boutique hotels and inns. The Lalehan Otel is not one of them. Yes, it is on the river and it is within walking distance of the old town and the surrounding sights. It is a pleasant, well-kept and reasonably modern hotel that will be forgotten as soon as this report has been posted.
The good: on the river not far from the centre of town, the place looks tidy and well maintained. The standard guest rooms are reasonably presented with inoffensive contemporary Ottomanesque décor in good condition. Our room had a river view which is preferable and considerably quieter that the street-front rooms. River frontage rooms would obviously be the #1 choice. The bathroom was clean, adequately appointed and most things work as expected. We found one or two English language TV channels out of several hundred. The staff were helpful and cooperative but there is passable English only at reception. Wifi is included but its performance was patchy. Breakfast is a satisfactory Turkish buffet but – see below.
The not so good: parking is on street – if you are lucky. The standard guest rooms are compact with but one power outlet in the entire room which was nowhere near the desk. There is another outlet in the bathroom so we were able to charge our devices in relay. There is no provision for luggage in the guest’ rooms so we decorated the limited floorspace with ours. The shower head was one of those annoying devices that was impossible to adjust to comfort, it was either drilling pinholes in you or gushing like a fountainhead. Don’t arrive late for breakfast (>9:30AM) as the hot selections are either cold or gone and they’re not reheated or replaced. For reasons not offered the hotel had no laundry service. We don't know if this is a permanent state of affairs or a temporary issue.
The bad: we found a discarded slipper under the floor rug and we asked to replace the pillowslips as they looked not to have been changed since the last occupancy. That little request earned considerable indignation from the housekeeper.
For the tariff this is not a poor hotel; it’s just not a very good one so, I guess, it’s average.
It isn’t a place we’d rush back to.
- 183alevy (8/5): Cosy small hotel in Amasya - It is a very cosy, friendly hotel by the Yesilırmak river in Amasya. Small but clean rooms, Decent service in restaurant. If you do expect much from the menu, the limited items are very tasty. The breakfast is included in the room price and it is self service in a room with the river view. It is that they are creating magic with such a limited number of personnel. Some items in the rooms need replacement or modification but as I say if you keep your expectations to the really required parts, there is no reason to be unhappy. The view from the terrace and restaurant is beautiful. It is 5 minutes walking distance to the touristic center of Amasya.
- Gorhan (6/5): Clean and Friendly - I stayed in Sultan Room-Suite. That was on 3rd floor, no elevator. Not suitable for disabled. Room was spacious, over 40 sqm, and clean. There were some deficiency on the wall paper etc, but kept OK. There is a semi view of river from the window. Breakfast was OK. Room was a little cold. Heating system is individually operated and I guess the rooms were vacant and no heating the night I stayed that floors were really cold. Amenities worked well. If you are looking for an ambiance of an historic building, there might be other options in the city, which I didnt try. This hotel has an old historic part and an conventional concrete addition (where many rooms are). Some architectural solutions are not very aesthetic. Staff is friendly and helpful.
- michelvw007 (8/5): Value, friendly and great location - I stayed here for one night after literally walking into the door asking for availability after a 700km ride from Istanbul.
Not only was the Dutch/Turkish receptionist super friendly, she also made sure I had a spot at the Iftar dinner an hour or so later.
Room is massive and with fantastic view for only 110TL. Good value.
Haven't yet experienced the breakfast but if quality is like dinner I'm sure to be impressed.

- BentCopenhagen (8/5): Good, clean hotel with friendly staff. - Stayed one night in April 2014 in a corner room overlooking the river. The room was very clean and inviting with a balcony wrapping around the room. The free internet connection in the room worked perfectly.
The bathroom, however, needs a major overhaul. It is very dark, especially since the lamp above the mirror did not work, the tap separating the shower and the faucet only worked partially, only one door of the shower cabin, so that the bathroom floor was a lake after showers.
The food of the restaurant was tasty, and the breakfast buffet (included in the room fare) was fine.
It should be noted that the restaurant of the hotel is "dry"
Street parking was no problem.
The entire staff of the hotel was extremely kind and helpful, and made fully up for minor inconveniences as the above. The receptionists speak excellent English.
The hotel is located 10-15 minutes walk from the center of the town and the view of the old houses and the Pontic rock tombs.
- treepondersleaf (8/5): Great hotel, wonderful view - This hotel is beautiful and in a great location of Amasya. They benefit from being in a wonderful city. The balcony is huge and the furnishings and design are top-notch.
Two areas for improvement both relate to the washroom. The washroom is too dark. It needs far more light inside it. The muslim shower was not functional, and that was also rather disappointing.
- Myeovil (10/5): Wonderful - Me and my wife are staying for at the Lalehan as I type this. We arrived at 6.00am in the morning to be met by a welcoming and helpful receptionist. The room is beautiful, clean and warm (this is February). The breakfast was a first class open buffet and this evening ate in the hotel and food again was first class and inexpensive. It's idealy situated by the river, and our room has a massive balcony going all the way around the room. It's also close to the wonderful sites of Amasya, which is a real gem, if you are visiting Turkey. The staff, since we arrived have been as helpful as possible. Defifantely recommened this hotel if you stay in Amasya.
