Guest Reviews
- Matt (9/5): Charming, comfy and well-priced ryokan in the heart of Kinosakionsen town - This ryokan was our first overnight stop as we landed at Osaka airport, and Im so happy it was. The place is really charming, easy to reach from the train station, and well-located in the main street where all other onsen establishments are located, making it easy to enjoy an all-onsen evening. The traditional Japanese room (ryokan) was comfy, had everything needed, along with a nice tea service. A small but cosy onsen downstairs much helped in the morning before departure. Staff was always attentive, offering high level of hospitality and great advice. I only wish I had more time to enjoy their food offer. N/A.

- Crabby Dancer (9/5): Lovely stay. - Near to the station. Once arrived, service staff at station asks about your lodging and assigns a minibus to you, free of charge. No coffee or tea bags. No lift but they helped with the bags.
- edgykay (9/5): Probably the only ryokan having room a private shower. One night is not enough. - Located within walking distance to the train station and all the onsen. And I love that the room has its own private shower. The futon bed is heavenly, I slept so well in it. They respond to my inquiry in a timely manner. They also have brochures that provide several information regarding the accommodations and Kinosakionsen in English. And since this is an onsen town, we were provided a set of yutaka clothing and the onsen day pass. I would like to thank the staff that speak English for her warmest welcome and patience ( sorry I kept you waiting for my check-in ). Terima kasih from Malaysia. Although the room I booked is a triple room, it is quite a tight space even for 2 people. While the balcony is lovely, the chair is tiny and uncomfortable. And since the shower has a glass door facing the sleeping area, we need to use the blind for privacy.
- Jaufré (10/5): Great location to discover Kinosakionsen, nice room (not too small, with a cute terrace), food was really good (dinner q -
- Han (10/5): -
- Diego Alejandro (10/5): Feel like home - Beautiful place, great ryokan style with western commodities, the staff was the most friendly of our trip, they gave us recommendations, and helped us sending us object that we forgot after our stay.
- Milou (10/5): -
- Lyndall (10/5): A major highlight of trip to Japan - Gorgeous staff . Loved the whole area . Onsens were very close-by very informative lady on reception . Clean traditional Ryokan very pleasant helpful staff .
- LACKANA (10/5): Highly recommended! - Location is the number, right in the middle of walking street by the beautiful canal especially at night. The ryokan is pretty cute and decent at a very good price. Nothing at all.
- Chrysoula (10/5): -
- Heffernan (9/5): Perfect, really can’t find anything to complain about. - Beautiful Place to stay. Everything was perfect and the staff were so nice and accommodating. Location in the centre of town. 100% plan to stay here again. Literally the only downside was the towels were small and ¥220 for an extra towel.
- Katherine (10/5): The rooms, location, and staff were the most amazing combination. Thank you so much!! - Great location, beautiful rooms and amenities
- Enrique José (9/5): -
- Kilpatrick (9/5): Perfect location for a comfortable and relaxed family stay - Perfect location. Incredibly clean and perfect service Very expensive dinner
- Agnieszka (9/5): Bellissima esperienza!
- Brandon (10/5): -
- Chris (8/5): Great location on Canal - Great location. Awkward rooms … bit squishy,re kettle in weird place, and low ceilings if tall. Cute balcony. Low ceilings. A bit overpriced.
- Finn (10/5): -
- ELise (9/5): - The onsen, the localisation, the staff were very nice. They lent us yukata, umbrella, basket.... It is a shame that we don't have dinner or breakfast
- Ernest (10/5): Would love to return! - Better than expected! Awesome experience!
- AJBKobe (8/5): Great ryokan in a convenient location - Ryokan is very conveniently located. It's about a 10 to 15 minute walk from Kinosaki Onsen Station and is near many restaurants and stores. The staff are friendly and helpful. Most people probably don't use it because of all the onsens and the ofuro in the ryokan, but the shower is small.
- Phat (10/5): -
- Saran (10/5): Very nice ryokan with excellent staff. - The room is very spacious, much bigger than mentioned in Booking site. Massage chair in the room is a big surprise. All of staff we met are very noce and supportive. Location is in the middle of the town, close to all onsen places Last but not least, we enjoyed onsen very much, great experience. Nothing
- Yuliia (10/5): -
- Sara (9/5): - Very welcoming and friendly staff who took the time to explain all the different amenities available, such as the onsens in town, as well as the yukatas provided, towels, etc. They served us fresh tea upon arrival and were very kind. A great location, and Kinosaki is always a wonderful onsen town to be in.
- Ashley (10/5): Perfect - A great Ryokan in the centre of Kinosaki. A short walk to the onsens and a great view of the mountains and street from the balcony. I stayed mid week and the town was quiet and perfect to relax in. Friendly helpful staff always available. No notes
- Ebony (10/5): A paradise - Unreal. A perfect few days. Unbelievably beautiful room and location. Everything we needed, incredible staff and beautiful experience. Incredible private onsen. I don't rate the public one but it's not bother considering how fantastic the entire town is. I can not say enough to how fantastic it was, and how amazing the staff were. A DREAM! and, the best sleep I've ever had in my life on the futon.
- Linas (9/5): I liked everything, I would like to come back here! -

Clean and comfortable room
Nice and helpful staff
- Patryk (10/5): - Amazing staff, very helpful. Rooms have traditional Japanese vibe, which works great with overall feeling in Kinosaki
Stanza molto grande e accessoriata.
- Timothy (10/5): Delightful, well-located, good-value stay. - Perfectly located in the centre of everything. Easy walk to all the onsen in town. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful at explaining how everything worked with the onsen-hopping. They provide the onsen pass and all the clothes etc so it’s very straightforward. In addition the room and communal spaces were beautifully done. Great value for money too. Worth being aware that there is no lift/elevator.
- Ubonrat (10/5): Nice place to stay recommend - Good location, nice staff and can speak English as well worm welcome. Room is very nice Nothing

- Daniela (10/5): - Everything was amazing, when I return I'll look to book here again!! ❤️
- Katrin (9/5): - Great location, beautiful room and private onsen and very helpful and nice staff. The hotel's public bath needs a renovation, rest of the house is great. But as you come to Kinosaki Onsen to enjoy the various public baths, this is not big issue.
- Brendan (9/5): Clean and beautifully presented room in great location with friendly and helpful host - Clean and beautifully presented room in great location with friendly and helpful host Perhaps a little small but this is as a small concern
- Amanda (10/5): - Staff is friendly and helpful
- Lou-Anne (10/5): -

- Angela (10/5): Peaceful and well worth the visit! - absolutely loved our stay in Kinosaki Onsen. We booked a quadruple room for just the two of us, which gave us plenty of space and made the stay extra comfortable. We were given yakuta and slippers to wear around the town, which added to the experience and charm.
We booked the private onsen for two nights and really enjoyed it. After bathing, there was a little fridge with beer and water, which was a thoughtful touch. The whole experience was relaxing and special.
The staff were lovely. During the day there were English-speaking staff, and in the evenings we were able to communicate easily enough using Google Translate. There’s a curfew at 11pm, which didn’t bother us at all since we were usually asleep by 9.30.
The town itself is peaceful and beautiful. Some shops do close unexpectedly, but we always managed to find food. There’s a post office where you can buy postcards and send them off, and it also has an ATM for cash withdrawals. Things are generally quiet during the day, so it’s worth knowing in advance.
The typhoon meant the ropeway was closed during our stay, but that didn’t take away from the experience. We loved walking around, soaking up the calm atmosphere, and enjoying this very traditional town.
Overall, Kinosaki Onsen was amazing, peaceful, and well worth the visit.
- JAROMIR (10/5): - ❤️Za mě naprosto jedinečné❤️ Určitě se zase vrátím.Personál milý,sice neumí moc anglicky ale snaží se přes translator což velice oceňuji.Jinak je to kousek od vlakového nádraží.Je tam krásně v Kinosaki❤️❤️
- Thuy (10/5): -
- Thien (10/5): An enchanting and pleasant stay - The staff is very friendly and homely. It is only a five-minute walk away from the train station and the view is spectacular. The breakfast made of local ingredients is vedry refreshing. It has an 11pm curfew which some would find inconvenient should they need something from the combini at the corner of the street but given it a small town this must be done for security purpose.
- Maddalena (10/5): - Tutto perfetto.
Posizione fantastica, pulizia ottima e staff gentilissimo.
- Fiona (10/5): - What a beautiful place to stay in Kinosakionsen. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the rooms are beautifully designed (we chose one with a terrace and river a view which was delightful) and it is perfectly located for onsen hopping. Free yukata and basket rental provided, as well as an onsen pass. We had such a wonderful time here.
- Eva (10/5): ESTANCIA PERFECTA EN FAMILIA - PERFECTO PARA UNA ESTANCIA EN KINOSAKI CERCA DE TODOS LOS BAÑOS Y JUSTO EN EL CENTRO DEL PUEBLO.
- Joeri (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (10/5): - Property is centrally located in Kinosaki Onsen’s main street and canal. It is also almost in front of Jizou-Yu, one of Japan the town’s seven public baths. Room I stayed in was modern and recently built or renovated. This ryokan has its own bath. Staff at check in was very nice and helpful. They do let you know that staff after a certain time in the afternoon do not speak English and there is an 11:30 PM curfew - they lock the doors. Breakfast or dinner was not included but room and inn were still of great value. It even has its own private balcony area. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone and would stay again if given the chance.
- Rajeev (8/5): A traditional accommodation in a spa beautiful town - Located in the center of the onsen town, you can walk to all of the natural springs in town. Like all the other accommodations, you were given an entry code for your stay. The room was a comfortable traditional Japanese room with an attached bath. There was parking which was convenient since we came by car.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location, very comfortable beds. Staff were amazing The elevator was broken, and we were on the 3rd floor
- Jonathan (10/5): Highly reccomend!! - My favourite place I have stayed! The staff were very friendly and until 4pm the front desk staff speaks very good English and everyone who works here is very friendly!! The lovely lady even took my bags to my room! It feels very traditional and the rooms are a good size and very cosy! It is central for everything in Kinosaki Onsen and a free pass to all the Onsen is included! They provide yukata, towels and geta to walk around in. I highly reccomend staying here if you come to Kinosaki Onsen! Nothing, it was amazing!
- Angelique (10/5): Exceptional -
- Krista (10/5): The staff was beyond kind and accommodating. - The location is perfect right in the middle of town. The facility is a bit dated, older carpet is some areas had stains but it didn’t effect the enjoyment of the stay.
- Matthew (10/5): - Perfect stay from check-in to check-out. Ideal location in the centre of everything, fantastic meals, kind and accommodating staff - especially Kaki.
The room was updated and very quiet with a small balcony overlooking the river. The private onsen was particularly enjoyable. Highly recommend.
- Steven (10/5): It was an aunthentic and splendid Japanese Inn experience. Loved it. - The location was great. It was a traditional Japanese Inn and provided that authentic experience including the breakfast, which we had twice. Confusion over payment for 1 person vs 2 persons. I believe that it was not the fault of the Japanese Inn, but was the fault of the way that information is communicated from Booking.com. I have submitted a request to Booking.com to correct this.
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pradeep (8/5): Very good - The room is clean, the staff are very welcoming. The room is very traditional. The yakuta that has been offered is very good. There is no recycling of air. Felt stuffed.
- Juliano (10/5): Best staff, traditional but modern rooms. - The staff is amazing and the private onsen is great!
- Arhat (10/5): Exceptional - Very helpful staff, good cleanliness, very comfortable futons to sleep on - got the best sleep of my two week Japan trip here, close to all public onsens and also houses a very good private onsen Nothing
- Peter (9/5): Excellent Honkan, with wonderful facilities, right in the middle of Kinosaki - The owner was really passionate about making our stay as comfortable as possible. We had the Kaiseki dinner and the Japanese breakfast, both excellent meals and attended well by the staff. The room is spacious enough for what you need, and the bathroom was big. Having a terrace/balcony was a treat. After 4pm the staff were more like caretakers. I don’t mind using a translation app to communicate—I don’t expect everyone to speak English!—however when I had a request in the evening the lady manning the desk was flustered and obviously didn’t want to talk to me. Unfortunately I can’t predict when we’ll need something and some things can’t wait until 9am the next day.
- Samrith (10/5): Very nice experience. Good to revisit again - Room style, design. Staff. Cleanliness
- Kokwah (10/5): Exceptional - Receptionist in mornings who spoke good English was most helpful& had a cheerful, friendly personality.
Hotel is very well situated for visiting the town's onsens and the shops& restaurants along the main street. And only aboutv10 min walk to the station.
Our room was neatly designed with a nice covered balcony looking out to the river/.canal.
A relaxing, peaceful atmosphere in the little town,; none of the crowds & noise of the more popular bigger cities.
There is a lovely little Cafe by the river, with delicious pastries, if you walk along the eastern side strèet Nothing in particular.5u69
- Natalia (9/5): Amazing ryokan with amazing staff. - The receptionist and the staff is so friendly! made my stay so warming and comfy. The onsen on site is so great as well. The room is very nice and clean. The ryokan is old but is very well maintain. Rooms are also very big. Bed is also very comfortable. Location is perfect close to all the onsens and restaurants. I like that you can opt to not have breakfast and dinner for a lower rate. Nothing!
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Roger (7/5): Good -
- Claudia (8/5): Great ryokan to stay, curfew permitting - Great location and facilities, hotel has own baths which are definitely recommended. The private bath was very well arranged and great value for money. Beautiful ryokan! At the time of booking nowhere was mentioned of a curfew at 23.30. It is a quiet town with little to do, however not allowing people to enter or exit after that time, with no exceptions, is quite unusual.
- mamacita1001 (10/5): Very reasonable INN located centrally ! - The location i sexcellent. It is located centrally in Kinosaki and right next to the bus terminal.
If you are heading back to Osaka, Kyoto etc by express bus, the bus stop (bus pool) is right next to the inn.
It faces the canal and is pretty close to the Kinosaki JR station.
Check in is actually 14:00, which is one of the benefits.(Check-in of most places 15:00)
You can get an onsen pass upon check-in, with which you can hop 6 of the hot springs nearby.
Every hot spring (public bath) has scheduled days off on Wed and Thur.
I couldn't try every public hot spring as I stayed overnight in Kinosaki on Thursday.
Other than those 6 hot springs, you can simply enjoy a foot bath. Towel isn't available. You should bring your own towel.
I booked a night without a meal but you can order some food. Especially they have lots of drink options, including sake tasting sets.
There is a drink vending machine in the corridor.
I booked a private bath for JPY2,200 for 45 minutes.
Although you already have 6 of public hot springs all over Kinosaki, it is worth it.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It is set up in a beautiful garden.
If you are interested, you can book it in advance, then pay upon check-in.
There is no lift. The inn is a 3-story building.
The room I stayed in has a sliding door. Some rooms have sliding doors, others have normal doors.
Sliding doors might make some noise but it was a quiet night. ( probably the inn wasn’t occupied fully)
A staff speaks simple English, it is helpful
Below is equipped in each room
AC
TV
Safe
Kettle pot
Toilet
Hair dryer
Amenities
wi-fi (very slow)
Check out is 10:00.
Curfew is 23:30
The main entrance is open at 05:00ish but reception is open much later
After you check out, INN keeps your luggage only for one hour.
I checked out at 1000 and was back at the INN at 1100 to pick up my luggage.
There are some coin lockers in front of the JR Kinosaki station / information Center but I didn’t wanna go back to the JR station with my suitcase when my bus stop is just next to the INN.
Luckily there are about 10 coin lockers at the bus station. ( 2 or 3 sizes available)
Phew… you should plan well now you know that INN keeps your luggage only for one hour after you check out.
As my bus was supposed to depart at 14:30, I had plenty of time to savor the last meal in Kinosaki.
Many places are closed on either Wed or Thursday.
Plan well !
Most places accept credit cards. I saw many foreign travelers.
I really enjoy Kinosaki. I definitely want to come back again for 2 nights next time.
- Melissa (10/5): Amazing, and memorable because the staff was extremely helpful and friendly - It’s easy to find and well kept Maybe just the smell of mildew I smelled from time to time
Probably because of the onsens
But it wasn’t too bothersome
- Tamla (10/5): - I was welcomed so warmly. I was escorted to my room was wonderful, clean, comfortable and they made me a pot of team an explained were everything was to be found.
Kaki was so warm and helpful. She answered all my questions so well and really made the experience extra. So its a 10/10 and because of Kaki its a 11/10!
