Guest Reviews
- Rivera (10/5): Such a great stay. Would likely to come back - It’s clean and comfortable. Has everything
- Washington (10/5): The property was very nice, quiet, and convenient. We definitely we be looking forward to coming back. - The property was clean and continently close to the boardwalk! The wasn’t anything!
- Michael (8/5): -
- ronk7 (2/5): Go elsewhere - Booked 2 rooms with family.
I am Globalist with Hyatt and know Hyatt Place is not a full service hotel.
My experience checking in.
Had to retrieve luggage cart, load luggage from car and then push cart to my room as 2 employees at front desk and 2 valet guys watched me struggle with this.
I am a 72 year handicapped senior.
Really could have used some help.
Summary. Employees lazy. And don't care.
2 Rooms we booked greeted us with a combination of dirty feet, mold and insecticide smells.
Wanted to leave right then but would have forfeited 4 nights charges due to cancelation policies.
Other issues. Huge black hair front center in bathtub.
No way housekeeping could have not seen thst.
Summary
Cleaning good enough, don't care
One electrical.plug in bathroom not working as well as not a single USB charge port worked in rooms or lobby dining room.
Summary, lack of maintenance.
Breakfast was OK, but no way im eating rotten fruit on display.
I brought these issues to the managers attention and received the standard reply. I'm sorry we didn't meet your expectations and we hope to please you next visit. Guarantee There will not be a next time.
Summary. Unless you like smelly roomz, Lazy employees and broken room items, STAY AWAY
Worst Hyatt I can remember after hundreds of Hyatt stays.

- tarakA7977CN (2/5): There are better options - Our family had two rooms on the first floor and they both smelled like mold. Carpets and bedding were dirty in both rooms. Some electrical outlets were not working and one fridge was broken. Hotel staff would not help 70 year old with his luggage.
- Federica (9/5): -
- Stephanie (7/5): It was fine, but we will stay elsewhere next time. - The hotel is very clean and the staff is very friendly. The breakfast was not as good as the last time we stayed. For this price, we should have real eggs and fresh, warm food. It seemed like a roadside hotel breakfast. Also, the valet parking is ridiculous. The staff was very kind, but we can easily park our car in the garage ourselves. It was an extra expense that was completely unnecessary.
- Patricia (8/5): - Location is great for boardwalk The cost!
- Midory (7/5): -
- Jon (8/5): Nice hotel and location; would recommend and return - Room and hotel were very modern, clean, well maintained; room was also nice size. Good breakfast. There were several people enjoying the pool area (good); however, they were very noisy and we could constantly hear them from about 7pm to 10pm (not so good). Seems like the staff could've asked them to keep it down.
- Ashley (9/5): -
- Julie (10/5): -
- Lisa (9/5): Very nice property. Friendly staff too. - The bed was premium and comfy. The breakfast spread kept stocked and the coffee was GOOD BEANS. I feel I would stay here again. The limited hours for the pool , but the noise is probably the reason. Also valet only was interesting bc we tended to leave stuff in the car and had to bother someone to retrieve it.

- V1375UZmarkb (10/5): Great hotel for a family. - Great property, very clean and new. Zero wear and tear anywhere that we could see. My kids though this was a fancy hotel. All of the staff were so friendly and helpful. Everything in the room worked flawlessly. Even the valet experience was excellent. Very fast and easy.

- shellyl739 (10/5): Great Location and cute room - This Hyatt is a great location for visiting the beach boardwalk or families getting their kids to college. The room had two full sized beds and a pullout. The lobby is beautiful. Valet parking people are very helpful and friendly. There is a snack bar downstairs for purchase, and complimentary American style breakfast.
- Angel (9/5): Great new hotel - Great new hotel Nothing to complain about!
- vthokie9293 (8/5): Overnight stop is about right - Traveling with family, needed a clean hotel in proximity to our travel destination and this hotel fit the bill. Apparently a large teenage population (or event) was happening and the hotel had a LOT of young people running around, taking over the pool and entire breakfast area. Definitely more noisy than usual but beds were comfortable and for the short amount of time we were there, it was passable.
- Avi (4/5): not good - The room was big enough Breakfast was very poor and no sufficient seats.
The room wasn't ready at 3:00 PM, just at 05:15 PM !!!
- Brenda (8/5): -
- Brianna (3/5): - The location The staff weren't very friendly to me but I noticed they were bubbly and smiley with the guest before and after me. The room next door to us had EXTREMELY loud children, banging on walls, running, screaming and jumping up and down. I called the desk to ask if they wouldn't mind asking them to be courteous of other guest and quiet down. Nothing was done. We didn't get any sleep. Not the best experience.
- Alyssa (10/5): -
- Brian (10/5): - Great spot, nice lil pool and hot tub area. Nice room. No self parking available
- Krista (6/5): Nice hotel but pricey for the issues we encountered. - Large rooms, comfortable beds, and nice swimming pool area. Staff were all pleasant, valets were very accommodating. Hotel was modern and in a convenient location. Breakfast was disappointing. Check in was at 3:00 pm but our room was not ready. We were told our room would be ready shortly, but it wasn’t until after 5 that we got our keys. Elevator issues made getting our luggage up to our room a hassle. Staff were all nice but one person at the front desk made for long wait times.
- Trang (9/5): -
- lunarial2026 (2/5): avoid: noise interrupts sleep - room 115 is the noisiest hotel room i’ve ever stayed in.
as we tried to go to sleep, and before normal waking hours, we heard frequent door slamming, maintenance carts wheeling across the floor, voices, and loud machinery noises. horrible night of sleep.
hyatt didn’t let us switch rooms when we asked, and a manager-promised refund didn’t happen.
valet took ~20 minutes to get our car.
avoid this hotel.
- Carlos A. (8/5): - I liked the big rooms and free breakfast. I liked everything
- Gina (10/5): - Great location
- Kendra (10/5): - Good breakfast and very friendly staff Nothing. We liked everything and will continue to stay here every time we visit
- Maritza (9/5): -
- Shana (8/5): -
- susanserventi (10/5): A great place to stay! - We were graciously received and welcomed. The room was large and well taken care of. The breakfast was real food and good. The coffee was good. The pool area looked pretty. The lobby was open and able to accommodate groups of people for socialization. The wine and refreshment bar was wecoming. We were very central to the beach area and the downtown We would definitely stay here again.
- Lisa (5/5): - All of the staff that we encountered were very friendly and courteous! The breakfast offered was overall terrible quality. I had requested a quiet as possible room and were placed in a room over looking the pool and it was VERY loud!!
- Brian (10/5): Pleasantly surprised at how nice this late find is. We will return - Friendly and efficient staff…special shout out to… the valets! Nothing to mention
- Edgar (10/5): -
- R. Bohorquez (8/5): - Estaba muy limpio y organizado, la piscina estuvo bien y mi hijo se divirtió mucho No me gustó que el televisor no fuese Smart, porque no podía mover Netflix ni youtube, deben mejorar en eso.
- Bente (8/5): I always comeback here when I visit my kid at UCSC. It’s much better than the overpriced options all over town. - This is probably the best hotel value-wise in Santa Cruz. Always comfortable and clean, nice amenities. Breakfast could be better. The mandatory valet parking is annoying.
- Evgeniia (10/5): - The pool was clean and warm, parking service was good Water dispenser was only in fitness area
- jaqueline (8/5): -
- South (8/5): -
- Anderson (10/5): relaxing and comfortable. - very clean with a friendly staff. nothing
- Amy (8/5): -
- Victor (10/5): Wish we’d found this sooner! We’ll be back. - Clean, modern, and great value. Walking distance to KP Center. Good breakfast buffet. Loved the surfboards on the wall!
- WeRtravelbug (10/5): Anniversary - Good location off main drag, but a bit way from boardwalk and shopping.
If you get a chance, eat at Special Noodle around the corner. Delicious!
- Duck (10/5): - The valet wasn’t just valet the drivers were super nice and professional. Very much a personal service.
The front staff were always welcoming and greeted us as we left and returned.
The fire pit was super fun!
- O2101LDstevec (10/5): Very nice experience - This modern hotel is across the river from downtown Santa Cruz and about 15 min. walk to Boardwalk. The location is quiet & the property is well-maintained. The rooms are fairly spacious & have a small seating area + good sized en-suite. There's an outdoor heated pool to do short laps & a compact gym. The inclusive breakfast buffet is one of the highlights: good selection of eggs, sausage, oatmeal, bagels, fruit, coffee & juice. Highly recommend.
- Diana (9/5): I'm a repeat customer, so that says a lot. And I'll stay again whenever I'm in the area! srea - Staff were wonderful. Terrific breakfast, though for an extended stay a bit repetitive, but still excellent. Pool area immaculate asxwascthe entire hotel. Room key card necessary for elevator access a nice security touch. A little on the pricey side
- Claudia (10/5): -
- Chris (9/5): Perfecto! - Very spacious and comfortable rooms
- Cindy (8/5): Mom and son time - Very clean, kind and friendly staff, liked the room size enjoyed the jacuzzi Having a microwave in the room would have been great to reheat our left overs
The pool said heated but not sure it didn't feel warm
- Kian (10/5): -
- I Han (9/5): -
- Philip (9/5): Wonderful overall stay, with very minor inconveniences. - Overall a very wonderful experience. Wonderful staff at every turn from valet to check in to the entire cleaning staff, and everyone was so friendly and helpful with every question. The facility was very clean, and the room turnover was amazing. Valet only parking is a significant expense, but the valet staff are wonderful. The pillows need a little more hardness, as in I needed at least four pillows and a towel to make some proper back support. You might want to bring your pillows for better individualized comfort. The windows don't open more than a few inches, so you may need to go outside to enjoy some fresh air. Also, the shower doors would rattle super hard when I would try to open and close them, which constantly made me worried they would break, so they likely need a little oil on the hinges. Again, these are very minor details that can probably be dealt with by hotel management.
- Kristin (10/5): The staff is amazing. The valet guys are the BEST! - Lots of great amenities. The pool and hot tub was nice. The breakfast was good as well. They also have a nice coffee/drink area for additional cost. The furniture in the lobby and sofas in the rooms need to be cleaned.
- I3706CFwilliamd (10/5): First class!!! - Highly recommend staying at Hyatt Place, Santa Cruz. First class. Looking forward to coming back soon... Ernie Dobson
- Sabrina (9/5): -
- Ricardo (9/5): - Muy limpio y agradable Estaría bien que tuviera aguas de cortesía en la habitación
- 469jeffm (10/5): A great stay.... - An excellent, centrally-located property with a friendly & helpful team. A decent selection of breakfast foods. Valet parking was quick.
- Milton (5/5): Poor maintenance - Hot tub Espresso machine not working for over 30 days. Unacceptable.
- Twyman (10/5): - Great location. Helpful staff. Overall a great place to stay. The carpet in our room had some big stains.
- Thijn (8/5): Fijn hotel, wel gehorig. - Mooie ruime kamers. Deurdrangers zorgden ervoor dat er om de haverklap ergens op de gang een deur hard dicht klapte. Niet nodig kan simpel worden opgelost.
- Leila (10/5): It was excellent!!!! - Very clean room!!! The breakfast was not good. And the area was not relaxing. One could see people checking in and out.
- Almarosa (10/5): - Staff was kind and helpful. The room was large and comfortable. Everything was great!!
- Nikole (10/5): - Great location and staff. Very clean and safe.
- Susan (5/5): - Valet employees were friendly and helpful. Paying for parking, when valet is the only option, plus I tip them! Very much dislike the additional fees at the time of check in when I have a work perdiem.
- Milton (1/5): Weak coffee - Hot tub The espresso machine was unavailable for over a month. This is unacceptable.
- Johnson (7/5): -
- drewt442 (4/5): Nice, clean hotel that I would avoid in the future - Nice, clean hotel with incredibly attentive and friendly staff. Painfully slow internet (even when using ethernet instead of WiFi and trying the lobby, usually got around 5 Mbps), and mandatory valet parking (which created a huge inconvenience) are deal-breakers for us.
- 463canl (8/5): Good choice for families in Santa Cruz - The hotel is centrally located. No more than 15 minutes from any of the activities that we did. We arrived early and the front desk staff accommodated an early check in. There is no self park, but the valet is reasonable at $19 per day. The morning breakfast had a good selection for the size of the hotel. Pool is heated, which the kids loved for a January visit. Rooms were clean, beds comfortable. This was a good option for a family stay.
- Florentia (8/5): Very nice accommodation at a reasonable price - Nice room, very clean. Comfortable bed and pillows. Front desk and valet staff very efficient. Nice lobby space, convenient to spread out into it for breakfast. Could have used a place to put my own soap and shampoo in the shower - I have to bring my own because of allergies to common ingredients.
Would have appreciated decaf tea that is plain black instead of Earl Grey - again because of allergies but I know you can't stock for every possible taste.
- Beth (9/5): -
- William (10/5): -
- Staci (1/5): - the size and check in was easy. Staff was friendly and informative bottom floor room that felt like we were in a basement. Super loud garbage dumpster issue at 5:30am for 3-5 minutes of slamming dumpsters and sliding therm on concrete. The room stunk like BO and urine and there is no way the hotel was full so not sure why we would be put in a dungeon like room
- Rupesh (10/5): -
- Mackenzie (1/5): Awful - Nothing I was emailed that I could bring my dog and then was told at the front desk she wasn’t allowed
- Carrie (10/5): - Great location
- Omar (10/5): Great hotel a good distance from the boardwalk and downtown. - We liked the feel of the hotel, comfort of the room, proximity of downtown and the boardwalk, and friendly staff. Coffee seemed to run out very often during breakfast. Highly recommend having more than one dispenser that has regular coffee.
- Ahmed (3/5): Be more accurate please - Great My room check in should be ready at 3 pm but they made me wait because the room wasn’t ready , and they asked me to come later, they will give me a call when the room will be ready
Come on guys I have a family
- Skyy (10/5): -
- Courtney (10/5): Excellent Hotel with Exceptional Staff - The staff here were EXCEPTIONAL. So kind and friendly. Room was spacious and clean, quiet, lovely pool. Would definitely stay here again! Probably our favorite hotel from our two week drive up the coast. Wish we'd stayed more than 1 night! Nothing! It was awesome.
- Maria (4/5): Decent place - Pool hours & breakfast Room service for blankets over 2hr wait, called a second time; limited menu/food, hours. Requested meals are made off premises.
- Hemina (8/5): Sadly, If this is our experience next time, I will shop around for different place to stay. - I’ve stayed here several times. Always clean. Rooms are roomy and comfortable. Good breakfast offerings. Valet folks are great, always. Hot tub and pool was all in great working order and spotless. Very inviting. I have stayed here several times but this was the first time I felt a bit disappointed. The light switch in the bathroom was loose and you could see into the wall. I am only pointing this out because they’re usually on top of everything. We had to hear super loud people on third floor all night. Lots of running up and down the hallways. We could hear what sounded like furniture being moved around at 4am. In the past, the staff has always been super warm, professional and friendly. This time we had awkward interactions at both check in and as we were checking out. No attentiveness. When one staff member was helping another with her guest’s questions about “Hyatt Points,” we were not acknowledged at all. We were told we would get a text when the room was ready. When we got there around 5, we were told they weren’t sure if they had a King as we’d reserved. Another employee who overheard (super helpful and professional) stepped in and upgraded us to a Courtyard view room. Could tell he was trying to remedy the situation and it was appreciated. As we were checking out, we asked if we could leave our luggage (two duffles and two tote bags) with them for a little bit, knowing they had a luggage valet system. The staff member looked at us like we were asking for something out of the ordinary and said “we can. But only for an hour.” If that’s the rule, then fine. It was her stand offish tone that rubbed me the wrong way. As they gave us tags, it seemed like we were severely inconveniencing them.
- jaiden (10/5): awesome - Valet employees are really outgoing! Shoutout to Derek really lifts up the mood also the other derek as well. a microwave in the room.
- Sundar (8/5): the staff were friendly and helpful, and we had a pleasant experience. - The breakfast was great, the hot bath was relaxing, and the pool was decent. The only thing I found inconvenient was the valet parking. I understand the staff are doing their job and they were polite, but valet is $19 per day plus tips, which adds up quickly. It would be nice if there were an option for free self-parking.
- Master Stefon (10/5): -
- Ashamrao (4/5): I expected more from a Hyatt experience. - Water was not hot enough in shower or sink. Some rooms of my fellow business travelers did not have curtains and the windows faced other windows of other rooms. No bottle of drinking water in the room. Staff were. It unfriendly, but also not completely customer oriented. They were doing a job.
- LaTisa (10/5): -
- Dr. José (6/5): -
- Amritanshu (5/5): -
- Florian (10/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Will return! - Great staff from friendly valets to front desk who cared for a missing water bottle while it was on its own adventure away from my 8 year old!
- Abbey (9/5): - Location was quite good and the rooms were spacious
- Nikki (10/5): Highly recommend! - Very clean, large rooms, very walkable and an excellent breakfast. N/A
