- MoniaSzy (10/5): Very clean, cozy and fresh! - I was visiting Hawaii Volcano NP and waiting for an eruption few days. Lodging in the park and Volcano village was completely sold out so I need to look for anything near. I am glad that I chose Hilo Bay Oceanfront Bed and Breakfast. It was very clean, cozy and fresh! No moisture which is a big problem in Volcano village. Big room, very comfortable bed, tasty breakfast (fresh made eggs, fruits, bread). Very helpful owner. I was surprised how loud ocean is. I had trouble falling asleep.
- Qing (9/5): - Room is big, beds are comfortable, and breakfasts are delicious ~

- Danielle (10/5): Exceptional service. Beautiful room and views. - It was so beautiful. The room was cleaned daily and they took great care of us. It was so convenient to get to and we were right on the ocean. They accommodated when I asked for a specific room as well as a late check out. It was amazing.
- Borrell (10/5): Very relaxing and enjoyable place to chill for a couple of days. - The staff was very helpful.
They picked my up at the airport and also took me to a nearby town at the end of my stay.
I really loved the oceanview room and the breakfast.

- Debbie (9/5): A lovely older oceanside B and B with charming hosts eager to please. - Unique and charmingly furnished rooms, ocean views, thoughtful amenities (umbrellas, snorkle equipment and local guides all at our fingertips to use at will) , delicious, fresh made full breakfasts. Noisy coqui frogs! But we got used to 'em.

- Curtis (10/5): Beautiful and Restful - Enjoyed the quaint historic decor and peaceful ocean bay waves. Real breakfast was a delicious treat. Host was friendly and gracious. Didn’t notice the papaya tree dropping overripe fruit when I parked under it after dark.
- Jing (10/5): Cheryl was super nice and the house helper took care of us very well. - The room is clean and comfy, dining room facing the sea - it is just sooooo beautiful and pleasant.

- Sergio (10/5): - Such a nice and cozy spot in a beautiful area of Hilo. So close to the main part of town but the property feels like you’re in your own jungle oasis right next to the ocean. The staff was always available and very accommodating to us and our toddler. We would love to come back to Hilo and specifically stay here again.
- Gretchen (8/5): - We were upgraded to a king suite. The breakfasts were great, the ocean view fabulous. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- Sarah (10/5): - Beautiful property and lovely hosts! Got to walk around town and fall asleep listening to the ocean on a comfortable bed. Definitely would come back again next time I'm in Hilo!
- Michael (8/5): We enjoyed our stay and Cheryl was a great host. - A charming place situated right on the ocean front. The hosts were wonderful. The breakfast was cooked to order. Dated bedroom furniture and bathroom.
- Robin (10/5): Historic Plantation house on the bay. - Exceptionally, clean and
Comfortable. These guys provide an amazing breakfast, well worth the cost.

- Gary (9/5): Idyllic Hawaii Stay - Right on the ocean and very close to town. The made to order breakfast was amazing! Nothing, everything was excellent!
- Robert (8/5): A lovely, relaxing waterfront home. - Breakfast was really good, but fruit plate with tiny pieces was way too small. We appreciated
the fridge with snacks and wine. Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast fruit plate had tiny pieces of fruit. The second morning I asked for papaya and got a beautifully ripe half. Delicious!
Would also recommend more places to hang up towels in the bathroom.

- Elena (10/5): -
- Elena (8/5): Nice hosts - Very nice hosts The location next to a busy road. All services listed in the Booking description were not really offered.
- Gabriel (10/5): - My son and grandson loved their stay and the owners were very helpful. Many mahalos for making their two days with you so terrific.
- Thomas (10/5): - Great friendly hosts, good breakfast and advice on what to do locally, nice room with lots of character. Nothing
- Brittany (10/5): BEAUTIFUL B&B! - Tomomi was a wonderful hostess & made the most wonderful delicious breakfast. She had our laundry done while we explored was folded or hanging to dry for us when we returned. A nice extra! She was so pleasant and kind. There was no AC but the ocean breeze & fans made it comfortable. I will miss sleeping to the sound of the crashing waves! Don't think you could get any closer to them😁 We hope to bring the kids back!
- Pia (10/5): Relaxing, peaceful…just what the soul needs - The location was great, it’s close to the centre but you’re far away that you can also enjoy the silence of the sea. I also LOVED the fact you can see sunrise from the dining room 😍😍 and everyone working there are really friendly and helpful! Everything was perfect, the pictures really don’t do it justice. If I HAD to say something negative…I would say the house does make some old house noises at night but you wouldn’t hear them unless you’re suffering from jetlag.
- Maureen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carolyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charlotte (10/5): A gem on Hilo Bay - We were looking for a place to stay for one night in the Hilo area, when I came across Hilo Bay Oceanfront B&B. We chose a room that was truly oceanfront, with panoramic views of Hilo Bay and amazing ocean breezes. The service was great, and there were lots of extras available at all times, like snacks, coffee & tea, and bottled water. The made-to-order breakfast at 6:30 am was icing on the cake. We will definitely return!
- Kimberly (8/5): Very good -
- Brenda (10/5): I would stay there again! - The house was lovely and our room was small, but very comfortable. The manager and his wife were friendly and gracious. We received us a quick history of the house which we found fascinating; and I highly recommend the pancakes and tofu for breakfast. Thiis place is close to down town and within walking distance of many great places to dine and shop. I was concerned about no air conditioning in the house, but the cool ocean breezes were enough to keep you comfortable and the sound of the waves lulled you to sleep.
- Sherman (10/5): Incredibly wonderful! - The view was incredible. The breakfast delicious, the staff very friendly as were the owners. The shuttle from and to the airport was a bonus. As were the snacks available 24/7. I cannot think of a single thing.
- Keith (9/5): Great location on the Hilo side of the Big Island. Close to downtown Hilo with lots of charm. - The setting of the facility was exceptional, on a cliff overlooking the shore with the sound of breaking waves. The dining area gave a beautiful look out into the ocean. The house has wonderful charm from a past era. The property has numerous fruit bearing trees which add to the ambience. The breakfast exhibited local fruit and a number of dining choices. (Get the macadamia coconut pancakes.) Plenty of parking and only a short walk into downtown Hilo. Innkeep was easy to communicate with and readily available. Our room was billed to accommodate four and had two double beds; but there were no closets and we lacked room to access four pieces of luggage. As we were only staying for one night, it was not a serious issue; however, if we were there for several nights, it would have been cramped for four folks.
- Lacra (9/5): Superb -
- Myers (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yunqing (8/5): - Extremely satisfactory stay!
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent stay. Wonderful room overlooking the ocean. Breakfast was wonderful. Hosts were great. Location was great.
- George (9/5): Great stay! Lovely owners and wonderful breakfast. Convenient location. - On the water. Lovely breakfast.
- Tracy (10/5): - We chose an ocean front room. It’s large, with a cozy dark wood vibe, and has a perfect reading nook in earshot of the surf. Parking is a good size and the host offers nice details like water and other beverages.
- Serena (9/5): Superb - Location is convenient and the sound of the ocean lulling us to sleep was amazing!
Breakfast was delicious.
- Teldeman (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay - Breakfast was wonderful! view out eating area glorious. Staff attentive and helpful
- Robert (10/5): - I had a spacious room with lanai. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was great.
- Timothy (9/5): Superb -
- Frederick (8/5): Very nice classic B&B, great view of the bay and a short walk to downtown Hilo - This is a classic B&B, great old home built in the early 1920’s right on a cliff overlooking Hilo Bay. Friendly hosts, wonderful views of the bay, great breakfast, comfortable well-appointed bedroom and plenty of easy parking. The B&B is just outside of downtown which is very walkable or very short drive. Overall, I highly recommend this B&B as a great place to stay while visiting Hilo. The long narrow hallway that extends straight back from the front door and divides all of the bedrooms, leads to the breakfast dining area. While the view of the bay is nice, the eating area is narrow and cramped, with four small tables secured to the wall sitting only two people each. Knowing the traditional design of big old homes built for large families, the original sitting room and dining room which probably overlooked the bay must have been converted into another bedroom, leaving this small awkward area for breakfast. Outside of breakfast time, it is not a very inviting area to chat with any of the guest which is one of the benefits of staying at a B&B, so everyone just stayed in their rooms. It would also be nice if they improved the landscaping of the front yard which was mostly unkempt and not an inviting view from the wonderful large front porch.
- Taylor (10/5): Exceptional - Cozy and homey! The staff were friendly and accommodating. It was a perfect stay.
- Faith (10/5): Incredible - can’t wait to go back! - We had an amazing time at the property - celebrating our honeymoon!!! Tomomi was truly a gem, with a kind attitude and helped us with where to go and what to do. She even drew us a map on two different occasions!!! She is such an asset to the business. We wish we could stay here longer! Without having air conditioning- it can get a bit warm and humid in the room with the fans. It was facing the ocean and hearing the waves crashing all night, we were able to overlook not having AC.
- Jeffrey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (2/5): Need new bath towels and sheets - Owners really nice. Breakfast great! Cleanliness no, towels I wouldn’t dry my car with, sheets horrible. Little things like awesome towels and a higher cotton count on sheets make an overnight experience so much nicer
- HANZHI (10/5): - This is really a nice place to stay. The view outside the room is amazing! There’s no doubt that I would like to stay here again. Very nice and friendly host. Awesome experience to live here, it is like live in home, and the room is well-decorated and clean. The host is so nice and if you need a ride to the airport, you can schedule with them. Also, they will prepared you breakfast between 6am to 9am.
- Kurt (8/5): Very good -
- Anna (9/5): Probably our favorite stay of our trip - Great location in Hilo overlooking the ocean. Staff was great and the breakfast was so fun! There is no A/C but it does cool down comfortably at night.
- Alino (10/5): Beautiful B&B on Hilo Bay - Great stay. Check in was easy. Room was clean and bed comfortable. Breakfast was really good. Food was fresh and well prepared. The fresh fruit was good. Healthy way to start our day. We had everything we needed. Felt like we were in our home. Everell and Cheryl welcomed us and were helpful with information on the Big Island. We would stay here again if we visit East side of the island. Nothing we liked everthing about our stay.
- Lasalle (10/5): It would been nice to have the option to watch some Hallmark Holidat movies or just TV shows. - Shirley was the best check-in advisor. The room book and the room upgrade was fantastic 👌 No TV .The location made up for itself with all amenities, adventures, and places to eat.
- Christian (8/5): Very good -
- Ron (8/5): Very good - The room was great, with a nice view and lovely sitting area. Owners were very nice. Although on the water, it was located in an area that was not conducive to walking to town.
- Marilyn (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful place and an amazing location with the sound of the birds and the waves crashing. Lots of special touches. We were well cared for.
- Mccarthy-smith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shailesh (9/5): This place provides, being at home feeling. - The breakfast was cooked well. You have a wide variety of choices from eggs any style to fruit, juice and hot beverage.
- Ellen Jennifer (10/5): - Lovely restored home. Very nice owner and sweet (I believe Japanese) lady prepared and cooked our breakfast. Lots of snacks and refreshments. We were allowed to use an area in the fridge. No amenities in room but, everything we would want or need was just outside our door. Would love to stay again!
- Jeannette (6/5): We expected more - Staff was gracious. Very convenient location for traveling in and around Hilo. The front porch had comfortable chairs for sitting but overlooked an overgrown yard. The historic house is showing its age: funky plumbing, mismatched and thinning towels, and aging furnishings. No outdoor space that faced the Hilo Bay. No communal gathering space except the tiny dining area. The “pool” is above ground with no structure surrounding it. Our “ocean view” was over a slice of the yard visible when you stood at the window. We had expected a special breakfast experience based on prior reviews, but the breakfast was good but pretty ordinary.
- David (10/5): If you like B&B’S you will not be disappointed. - Five nights. Elegant old home. Breakfast was excellent!! Nice assorted fruit tray. Eggs any style, pancakes, French Toast, thick crispy bacon, assortment of juices. Good coffee. Hosts Brian and Tomomi were very nice and helpful. Our room was right over the water with a gorgeous view, and spotless. Great location. 2 min drive to downtown Hilo with a ton of dining options. Nothing really negative to say.
- Yuang (9/5): Superb - The location is excellent — right next to the Hilo town. The hosts are very friendly and nice as well. It was easy to arrange airport pickup/drop-off. The beach gears are convenient for snorkeling/sunbathing on nearby beaches.
- Kelle Grace (10/5): Ocean front beautiful welcoming location - Our hosts were welcoming and genuine. They were very friendly with several great suggestions on places to visit. I would yay there again on my next visit!
- Tom (9/5): Superb -
- Valerie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jeffrey (9/5): Cozy B&B right on the ocean - The location right on a cliff overlooking the ocean was amazing, and it was easy walking distance to downtown Hilo (shops, restaurants, bars). It was also well located for getting to sites like Volcano National Park, Mauna Kea and numerous waterfalls. The property has an old Hawaii feel, with unique spaces and little delights, like a reading nook on the ocean. Breakfast was excellent and the staff was very helpful in helping us find important things like beaches with turtles. Overall loved our stay here. The property is a little dated, which is part of its charm, but updates could be made and it could still have that feeling.
- Lightman (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! Excellent room.location and friendly and dedicated staff! No TV in the room.9
- Megumi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stacie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful and clean room. N/A
- Kirsten (10/5): - Beautiful house, lovely hosts.
- Amanda (10/5): Would stay again - Really great! Home is amazing and clean. Breakfast couldn't have been better. Location is perfect. Hosts are wonderful.
- Jim (10/5): Exceptional -
- Virginia (10/5): It was very relaxing. - Breakfast was very good. The bed was very comfortable. The price.
- Елена (10/5): Exceptional - It’s absolutely beautiful. Great house -
- Vikram (9/5): Superb -
- Maryanne (10/5): Historical home, lovingly maintained, right on the ocean! - The location was terrific! Falling asleep to the sounds of the ocean was such a treat. The breakfast was very good and the accommodations very comfortable. Brian was a wealth of knowledge with tips on “must see/do” activities Nothing…everything was great!
- Andrew (10/5): - Amazing place with all the perfect amenities and personalized wonderful service.
- Julie (9/5): Lovely Oceanside stay - The location - convenient to Hilo and right on the ocean. It’s quiet. It is a well built historical gem.
- Melanie (9/5): Very lovely and cozy place to stay - Personal was absolutely friendly. We could wash our clothes for free, which we did not expect. Breakfast at the breakfast room directly at the ovean was so peaceful. We could borrow chairs, watershoes, bodyboards, towels for the beach for free. There was a HUGE snackbar with snacks, coffee, tea, everything you wish for. There was no aircon in the room but a misquito net on the window so you could sleep with the sound of the waves crashing. We had a very small room, the other rooms would have been bigger, this was a little bit tricky with 2 suitcases for 3 nights. Be aware that there is no aircon in the room.
