Guest Reviews
- Caroline (8/5): Over night stay - Second stay at The Bay Horse Inn.
Room was comfortable but warm.
Breakfast was good served by very friendly staff.
Only grumble would be that they started to clean the room before we'd left which made us feel a little unwelcome.
Apart from that our stay was comfortable and exactly what we needed for an overnight befor heading on holiday
- Marek (10/5): - Very charming property with just a few rooms and a nice restaurant and very nice staff. WiFi was fast, but worked only in some rooms. Food was great.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Rooms were ok could do with a little TLC -
Cobwebs, badly fitted toilet seat, dirty cups in the room.
Beds were comfortable and clean
- Marie (10/5): - Second time stopping here, great links to York, fabulous staff, beautiful town.
- Simon (2/5): Got fined for parking - I was fined for parking at the hotel. It said free parking on Hotels.com. I wasn’t asked for my registration when I checked in. I complained to the owner who said he would get it sorted. I sent him the fine which he asked me to do and he then said that’s the best you’re going to get. What a joke.
- Sandy (6/5): Nice Stay - We stayed in a family room, reasonable size, clean and tidy, with kettle tea and coffee facility, smart tv in the room, we only stayed for 1 night and overall everything is fine.
- Wayne (10/5): - Great food, great drinks, very friendly staff and lovely setting
- Marie (8/5): - A beautiful area, lots of lovely houses, quiet and xareful drivers. Nice pub food and the postshop/ cafe was lovely, fantastic coffee and sweet treats.
The Bay Horse, wasn't available until 3pm door locked so just be aware if you arrive early.
Will definitely be back.
- Verified traveler (6/5): New toilet seat needed - Toilet seat poorly fitted almost unusable. Seat wouldn’t stay up and was too far back to sit comfortably. It had started to split apart
- Amanda (8/5): - Good breakfast
- Alison (8/5): Great dog friendly pub hotel - Friendly staff and great service. Very dog friendly.
- Philip (10/5): - Our third visit. Great place. Friendlg staff

The cooked breakfast was amazing. A great place to stay
- Gillian (10/5): - The rooms were really great. We had our dog and they had placed a bed and treats n our room for her which was really very nice. Food was great and pud was really cool as well. Defo stay again.
- Stephen (10/5): - The staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for you. The food was excellent as were the rooms and the pub itself. Would definitely stay again
- Trevor (10/5): - The Bay Horse Inn was exceptional value for money, the food was excellent (especially the steak and ale pie). Jon was a GREAT cook and host and if back that way would use The Bay Horse Inn again - totally recommend.
Trevor and Lyn Downs 👍
- Glenn (8/5): Comfortable - Only complaint is the shower in Rm 9 was running hot and cold. Impossible to regulate

- M.S.Taylor (10/5): Saturday night at the Bay Horse - Checked in late but although they had stopped serving food, they were able to sort me out.Good clean room and good breakfast. Highly recommend.
- Mark (10/5): - Stopped here on the way North. Friendly hosts, quiet place. Good breakfast
- Lynn (8/5): - Spent 2 nights at the Bay Horse, very clean rooms, good stock of tea and coffe and was replenished.
Lovely breakfast and very friendly.
- Tony (10/5): - Excellent stay. I have been to many places and stayed in many hotels but this hotel has perhaps the best bed! Super clean rooms. The only reason I didnt give five stars for facilities is that they do not have a hair dryer and the water pressure of the shower wasn't great. The staff did look into it and I didnt expect it to be an immediate fix so in the bigger picture, that was a trivial problem; it doesn't take away from how brilliant the establishment is.
- michael (10/5): Wonderful stay - Fantastic hosts, great food and really quiet, will go again next time we are in the area
- Terry (8/5): Bay horse inn - Good venue friendly staff, clean tidy room, no complaints

- Michelle (10/5): - We had an amazing break away, host was very friendly and helpful. Property was exactly as described, very clean and comfortable, room was remade and restocked daily. Food was amazing. We will definitely be back.
- Joe (10/5): - The place was nice and quiet, staff were lovely, breakfast was very good, bed was really comfortable, fan in the room was nice. Only a couple of slight negatives. The room was a little dusty on some of the surfaces and a couple of the walls could do with dusting too. Also there looks to be a coffee stain on the wall, and also the shower flow was weak. These things didn't take away from the enjoyment of my stay however. I had a lovely stay and i would stay here again.
- Saira (10/5): - A lovely pub and guest house, staff extremely friendly, helpful and polite. The food was excellent and service impeccable, very convenient and close to the local park and ride into city centre. Would highly recommended staying here.

Pub has a nice atmosphere and would definitely stay again.

- Robert (8/5): - The stars for this venue are for the staff. Friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quiet; the bed comfortable. But, the room was too small for our liking. Perfectly acceptable for one night but could not envisage staying longer. Evening meal was fine and reasonably priced. Breakfast was OK.

The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, even allowing us to order a late evening meal.
The Bayhorse Inn is dog friendly which was important to us and our furry friends were made to feel welcome.
The cooked breakfast on the Sunday morning was lovely and the lady serving us even remembered us from the previous weekend and asked how our holiday was.
Weve already booked again for next year
- Kevin (8/5): - Nice room friendly welcoming people good location. Quiet Village but near to main roads to travel around the area.
- Caroline (10/5): Lovely place to stay - We were staying just one night on route to Scotland.
We recieved a very warm welcome and were shown to our rooms. The rooms were quiet, spotlessly clean and very comfortable.
We had the cooked breakfast the following morning before departing and again the staff were very attentive and the food was good. We were traveling with our two dogs and they were welcomed too. Ideal place to stay with dogs

- Diane (10/5): - Great stay lovely helpful people

- Peter (10/5): Hotel Stay - One night stay for work, hotel was clean & comfortable. The staff were great and the the food was 1st class!
- Sally (8/5): A good stop over B&B with an evening meal on site. - The room was minimalistic with a wet room bathroom and very comfortable bed with quiet surroundings so had a good nights sleep. The breakfast was cooked fresh to customer’s request. No cereals were offered but fruit juice was on the table when we arrived. Overall good value for money and helpful staff. Flowers outside were welcoming.

- Philip (10/5): Great place to stay close to many locLal attractions - Great pub. Friendly staff. Great food. Handy for York, Knaresborough, Harrrogate etc
- Jessica (10/5): - The property was lovely, staff friendly, room was immaculate, can’t wait to stay again!
- Angela (10/5): Great pub/Inn - Comfortable and spotlessly clean room. Modern en-suite bathroom. Friendly staff and fantastic cooked breakfast options.
- Rita (10/5): - Lovely clean room nice breakfast friendly staff will definitely stay again
- Katie (10/5): - This was the most perfect B&B, the rooms were well presented and clean. All the facilities available to us as we were visiting with a dog had such cute little touches. The staff were all so very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be staying here again when we visit our daughter in York.
- Amy (10/5): Lovely little place - We booked The Bay Horse the night before we stayed as a spontaneous family get away. On arrival we were greeted by the lovely land lady who showed us to our beautiful family room.
The room was spacious, modern, clean and fresh! We had a very comfortable nights sleep.
The pub meals were home cooked and absolutely delicious. Breakfast in the morning was cooked to order and too was absolutely delicious.
The staff here are very helpful and very friendly! Nothing was too much trouble. They lady serving breakfast on Sunday morning even entertained our 3 year old and let him help hoover round the pub.
We were absolutely delighted with our stay and will most definitely stay again. Thank you very much to you all.
- roger (10/5): - Very welcoming and perfect choice.
- Vinayak (8/5): - Great stay for a night. WiFi in the room was not too great. Was a bit disappointed as the 4G/5G signal was not great either. Room and bathroom were clean and great food.
- Mark (8/5): Pleasant stay - Stop over whilst visiting area with family. Pleasant hotel, very friendly staff.
Room was a bit cold, but bed was comfy and we slept well.
Breakfast was tasty but very small. I guess for the price I can’t complain.
- David (10/5): Good pub with great food. - Stayed here for convenience on business trip, was made welcome straight away by the owner and all staff were so nice. Great food good selection of ale. Would stay again If in the area.
- Kevin (10/5): Lovely Inn and Pub - I had an excellent stay at Bay Horse Inn. The owners take so much pride in their establishment. I was welcomed warmly by the owners and the local clientele. The breakfast was great too! The room was very comfortable, warm and clean. Only complaint is that the WiFi in the room was practically non-existing. I highly recommend this spot.
- Danyelle (10/5): - Room spotless, staff excellent from the second we got there. Absolute bargain compared to some of the places close by.
- JONATHAN (10/5): - Excellent stay, rooms in courtyard behind excellent, very clean, lots of sockets for phone and laptops (away on business) . Great traditional, friendly pub with excellent food, has a real community feel and staff were all friendly and helpful. Fish and chips and Ruddles ale were both really good. Recommended!
- Myles (10/5): - Great little place and well worth either visiting or staying. Booked a room for the weekend; staff, service, atmosphere we're excellent and the locals really welcoming. The rooms are really clean and well kept. Look forward to staying again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Yorkshire stay - Very friendly service, beautifully decorated room, very modern.
Only negatives were that the bedroom had wall heaters which made noises in the night and it’s never a good constant heat, and drys my eyes. The pub food was also very simple and not particularly tasty for the money you pay.
- Angela (10/5): Perfect stay - Enjoyed a perfect stay. We were very fortunate to catch Thursday ‘fish and chip night’,which turned out to be the best fish and chips we have ever eaten in a pub restaurant. Really exceptional quality. Fresh fish in a light golden batter and perfect crispy chips with no sign of grease anywhere. Great portion of mushy peas and served with tartar sauce. We also had drinks in the bar in the evening, which was cosy with friendly locals. We had a great nights sleep in a very comfortable bed. Plenty of coffee/tea facilities in the room and a modern en-suite. Breakfast was a perfectly cooked full English served with fresh orange and coffee. Would highly recommend everything about this Inn.
- Juan Leonardo (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and breakfast was delicious made with love. Room was very cosy. 30 minutes away from York city by car. Nice size walking shower. Quiet room.
- keith (10/5): - Nice pub with seperate rooms, well appointed.
Only small situation encountered was electric shower, water pressure was a little low, not a problem for use, but dont expect a power shower.
- Carlotta (10/5): - Perfect cozy place
- Ron (10/5): Great Stay - We had a lovely stay, i would recommend The Bay Horse and so would my Grandson ❤️
- ROBIN (10/5): Excellent - Excellent rooms, cannot recommend highly enough.
- Linda (10/5): - Clean good food dog friendly
- Margaret (10/5): - Good Parking
- Natalie (10/5): - Lovely room and very friendly staff. Breakfast was delicious too
- jennifer (10/5): welcome - made to feel very welcome as the hosts engaged in conversations and show genuine interest
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointed - Disappointed with the accommodation, although it was clean and comfortable it was upstairs. ( room was advertised as accessible) . Confusion on whether breakfast was included initially, no one seemed to know. Finally got it clarified, it is, I’m glad as it was a lot of money to pay for just a bed for the night. No menu for breakfast, when we asked the reply was, “cooked breakfast, cooked breakfast is a cooked breakfast, if you want scrambled, poached or boiled eggs I can do that!” We asked for poached, thinking that’s instead of fried in the breakfast, No it was poached eggs on toast instead of the full breakfast.
The meal the night before was also a bit disappointing, it tasted ok but not value for money. Overall I spent £140 on not the best experience.
- Brian (10/5): - Lovely old English pub change from run of mill motorway stop over. Food was traditional pub food, friendly atmosphere, stayed 2 nights whilst attending our first York shire show.
- David (8/5): - Lovely quiet village, traditional inn, welcoming staff. Accommodation comfortable and spotless, 'pub grub' menu, good produce, well cooked as was 'full English' breakfast. Yes we would stay again, and recommend to others.

- Pawel (10/5): Very positive experience - It was a very nice stay! I was traveling with my daughter and even when leaving, my daughter was already asking if we're going to get back here again!
Staff was really nice and friendly - I felt we were really looked after!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Overcharged for drinks - Dated but ok. Bar staff overcharged for drinks on at least 3 occasions. Once by a fair sum, never to return .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - An extremely warm welcome from Jon and his team on arrival and throughout a 2 night stay. The food was excellent quality and well priced. Highly recommended rural dog friendly stopover for visiting York.
