Guest Reviews
- Matthew (10/5): - Lovely property, huge feature rooms. Great staff
- Sion (10/5): - Fantastic stay again with amazing breakfast
- Christima (6/5): - The room was clean and well equipped, but the room was freezing.
Cold wind was coming through the seal of the windows all night and letting all the noise in throughout the night
- Craig (10/5): - Fab place with great staff
- myfyr (8/5): - It was ok
- David (8/5): - This is a unique hotel in an old church conveniently close to Shrewsbury train station, shops, restaurants, and attractions. Everything in the room was new and in good condition- the mini fridge with free refreshments was an appreciated bonus. Service was great, and personal.
- Paul (10/5): - Beautiful and very convenient close to the train station a walking distance from the city center.
- Brendan (10/5): - Great location. Fantastic customer service,
- Tom (6/5): Hotel room review. - Unfortunately the boiler broke during the stay which meant this hot water didnt come back on till 9-9.30pm and then took a while to come back through in the morning when turning the taps on. The team were really nice and apologised, offered a free meal but when I went down at 9pm everything was shut and didnt get a response from the number on the contacts to enquire how to claim.
The remote was broken in the room and nobody to advise but managed to get the TV on the same channel. No iron or hairdryer in the room so couldnt iron my clothes in the morning for work.
Stay would have been nice but couple of things just unfortunately made it not.
- Stewart (8/5): Three days in Shrewsbury - The hotel is very convenient for the station (5 minutes walk) - if you come by train since there is no parking available - and for the city centre (3 minutes walk in the other direction). Everything was good at the hotel with no issues at all. Breakfast was a bit unusual in that, only hot main courses were available (although delicious), but there were no cereals, fruit, toast, croissants etc.
- Kathleen (8/5): Lovely hotel - Lovely hotel & friendly, helpful staff. However, room very airless, due to nature of the building (converted church), which i personally have difficulty with. Fan supplied in room, which helped. Also, overhead shower head a little low - my husband is 6’ and couldn’t get under it!
Overall, the hotel is lovely and centrally placed in Shrewsbury, so many pluses!
- Peter (10/5): - Hotel short walk from station run by young couple keen to make a difference. Oozes character, surrounded by historic architecture and fits right in. Cafes, restaurants, pubs close at hand with lots of shopping close to hand. I nipped down a nearby alley each morning to enjoy a great riverside walk to the park and home for breakfast.
- julie (10/5): - Our room which was on the top floor and was lovely. Very quiet which we both liked.
The breakfast was excellent.
We must say it was very good value for money. We will definitely stay again.
- Howard (10/5): A great place to stay - What a wonderful and unique hotel. Right in the heart of Shrewsbury and with a warm welcome this was a great hotel. The room was clean, spacious and with a great stained glass window which gave the room loads of character. The owners were fantastic and made us feel very welcome and dinner was also superb.
- Michael (10/5): Brilliant boutique - Great location, welcoming staff, great food, superb room with amazing features. Nice a quiet and comfortable, just what we needed. Amazing place all round.
- marion (8/5): - The room was spacious and comfortable.
But what really set this hotel apart was the staff
especially Ryan who were friendly, accommodating and always went the extra mile to make sure we had a great stay.
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left we felt welcomed and cared for.
- Deborah (8/5): - Great location, good all round mid-range hotel. No parking though
- Kev (10/5): - Great stay for 1 night with work
- Polly (8/5): - The staff are friendly and helpful. The building is rather old but full of character and with a lovely decor. The hotel is just a few minutes' walk from the station, very convenient. One thing to be aware of is that they don't start serving breakfast until 8.30am – something to keep in mind if you're planning an early start.
- Verified traveler (8/5): great service and place to stay - Stayed here over night at weekend, even though in town wasn’t noisy at night. Enjoyed the food and drink menus (breakfast and lunch) the team were really friendly and helpful, service was good even though they were experiencing some technical problems during our stay. Very minor point there was no wash hand soap in the bedroom
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful stay - My daughter and I stayed for 1 night as we were attending performances at the nearby theatre. The hotel was lovely and we were lucky enough to have what a couple of the staff described as the 'best room'. The room was clean and spacious, the bed was a little soft for my liking, although still comfortable. All staff we encountered were wonderful, so friendly and helpful. The small amount of food we had was a hit, especially with my daughter! We would definitely stay here again.
- Alison (10/5): - Excellent accommodation, very warm room with a stunning window. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.
- Matthew (2/5): My view : do not stay at this hotel. - This is the worst customer experience I have ever had at a hotel. My recommendation is DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL. It is no way “boutique”. It does not deserve its customer rating - I have my own view of that. I am awaiting my refund, and suspect I will have to resort to the courts.
- Pauline (10/5): - Very nice. It looks like a haunted house but it’s very quaint
- Gail (10/5): Amazing place - I loved staying here with my son.
The owners and staff went over and above all expectations to accommodate my neurospicy son.
The building is honestly amazing, the renovations bringing the charm of the original architecture through.
The bar and grill areas are welcoming, chilled and very laid back. It feels like sitting on the sofa at home 🤣.
I will definitely be coming back very soon, I have more exploring to do ❤️
- Lindsey (10/5): Fab night away - We arrived at the hotel and staff were very welcoming and friendly.
Our room was huge, very comfy and quirky. Beautiful view from the huge church windows.
Delicous breakfast - my husband had a full english that was well worth £12 and i had eggs benidict which were delicous.
We will definitely be returning when we stay in Shrewsbury again.
- ian (10/5): - A converted church. We had a large, airy room with a great view. Recommend if you are looking for something a bit different. Very friendly staff.
- KATIE (10/5): A True Shrewsbury Gem - From the moment I arrived I knew I had made the right choice for my stay in beautiful Shrewsbury. I was greeted with a very warm welcome and a complimentary hot drink, I arrived early but this was no problem as my room was ready for my stay, My room was very grand with all the home comforts you could need. As a solo traveller eating alone can feel awkward but definitely not here. I was greeted warmly by Ash and received the very best food and service all evening. I didn’t want to leave and would definitely choose to stay here next time I visit Shrewsbury. What a delight, you won’t be disappointed if you decide to stay here. Thank you to all the staff who made me feel so welcome and looked after.
- matthew (10/5): - Hotel is a renovated church. So quirky. Large rooms. Excellent food. Lovely helpful staff
- Aaron (10/5): Best hotel ive stayed in. - Honestly the best hotel I've ever stayed in. all the staff were helpful and friendly.
We had one minor issue with a bath plug during my stay and they bent over backwards to fix it for me. This is the sort of service that wins awards.
And for the price its the deal of the century to stay in such a lovely building. My room at the top of the building had a lovely round window with a view of the Castle. Top notch. I fully reccomend
- Robert (10/5): - I never leave reviews as I travel for work and live in hotels most of the week. This hotel however was outstanding! one of the nicest rooms ive stayed in and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend
- Jason (10/5): - Quirky boutique hotel in a great location - convenient for the station and the town centre. Clean, comfortable room, slept very well. Excellent cooked breakfast for £12, highly recommended.
- Kin Fung (10/5): - A very cosy stay in a historical buidling
- Ify (10/5): - Fantastic customer service. I’ve been at many hotels and the customer service at st Nicholas is far the best. They went far & above my expectations to get me settled and comfortable- highly recommend.
- sharron (10/5): - Good
- John (6/5): - Wifi needed improving. Staff were great.
Hotel needs an upgrade
- Robert (10/5): You must stay here - Really lovely hotel close to the station.
Big room in a very interesting building
- Ashleigh (10/5): - We had a lovely little stay at this property, staff were very friendly and the room was very clean. A converted church which was pretty cool. Parking was a bit tricky as there was an event on but probably not a problem during a normal stay.
- Pauline (8/5): - Quirky, historic property with a comfortable room and amazing views. I missed the memo about checking-in before 8pm but the staff couldn’t have been nicer. Would stay again.
