Guest Reviews
- Sarah-Ellen (10/5): Perfect hotel in Harleston - a real gem - Lovely room, great breakfast
- neil (8/5): Lovely - Great food
- Bryan (10/5): -

- Andrea Bondielli (8/5): -
- Anna (4/5): Church bells at night. - Cute town and nice decor in the downstairs restaurant area. So so loud at night, as it's right next to a church bell. They do provide ear plugs, but they don't block out the sound enough. Difficult to sleep through the constant ringing.
The pillows had marks on them and the mattress was uncomfortable.
Breakfast options were very limited, as there's no like buffet or even cereal, let alone options for gluten free and vegan. For gluten free version of the English Breakfast, they just took out most ingredients. Breakfast starts quite late on a weekend, so not suitable for work trips and took 25mins to prepare.

- jacqueline (10/5): Overall very good - The bedroom was very small, and even though we asked for single beds they were very narrow
- Colin (10/5): Can’t recommend highly enough, rare find these days - Great atmosphere, staff were welcoming and bubbly and the food was outstanding

- John (9/5): Good comfortable hotel - Very comfortable town centre hotel. Excellent restaurant, Great breakfast
Car parking on site

- Jennifer (10/5): -
- Gerard (7/5): Perfect for an overnight - Comfortable bed. Very good bathroom facilities. Friendly and helpful staff.
Exceptional breakfast included. Lack of chairs and table in the room. Lots of clothes storage!
Some disturbance from the road outside - but it is in centre of town!
- Charles (10/5): Great pub great food great room - Just like the town Not a lot
- Andrew (9/5): Lovely hotel to stay at with friendly staff - Room was comfortable and clean with very good bathroom facilities. Breakfast itself was very good and the service was excellent. Onsite parking facilities were also a bonus given the hotels location in the center of Town. The only minor issues were the WIFI dropped out a few times during my stay and the fire alarm went off briefly at night which turned out to be a false alarm. Without these minor issues would have given the hotel a 10/10
- Valeria (7/5): - The staff was very helpful and polite. Bed super confortante, great shower. Cooked breakfast was great. Limited choice of drinks at breakfast. I asked for a cappuccino instead of americano and was told they would have to charge it to the room. According to the menu a cappuccino is 52p more expensive than an americano. I was surprised that they could not be a bit more flexible.
Room a bit noisy both from bar below and from room above.

- Steven (10/5): - Friendly staff, upgraded room was great. Food downstairs was excellent... as was breakfast. Can't fault it, would definitely stay here if working in the area again. -
- Sara (8/5): Perfect location for me and a great place to stay - The building is quite old and interesting. Nice room, very clean and friendly staff. I had a lovely Sunday roast when I got there The stairs and corridors are not great for people with mobility issues. It was lively in the bar downstairs until 10.30 and then it quietened down
- Cristina (9/5): Would come back if in the area. - Amazing cooked breakfast, modern room, central location to Harleston, friendly staff, parking included. Lovely room but underneath pub.

- Paul (10/5): Professionally run hotel offering comfortable rooms, superb food and an excellent restaurant - This is the 2nd visit to J.D Young, only this time I booked 3 rooms as I had colleagues with me. My room (No.1) was huge and tastefully decorated, with a large comfortable bed where I managed to sleep for a full 8 hours. The bar and restaurant was excellent, where we ate far more than we should because the food is so nice. If I wanted to be really picky, I would say my poached eggs at breakfast were a little underdone, but in all honesty, having had such a large meal the night before, it wasn't an issue.
- Richard (10/5): -
- Caroline (9/5): -
- Susan (8/5): All in all the room and facilities were sufficient for my needs. - Spacious room, lovely shower. Breakfasts and evening meals were lovely. Staff very pleasant, smart, and attentive. Location was good for me. No mirror in room to dry hair - had to use the plug next to the bed for the hairdryer and navigate the cable around the bathroom door to use the mirror in the bathroom. Not very safe!
Would have liked a fridge in the room.
Air conditioning unit was noisy.
- Steven (10/5): Perfection - Every team member was so polite and helpful. An absolute pleasure to stop here, couldn’t have asked for more. Nothing, it was perfect in ever way
- MICHAEL (10/5): -
- Paul (10/5): A fabulous gem! - We stumbled upon this fabulous hotel whilst looking for somewhere to stay between two work locations, and what a find! From the decor, the food, rooms & Staff, it oozes style & ambience. SO much so, that we’ve now stayed here a couple of times, and will continue to do so in the future. Can highly recommend. Nothing!
- June Elizabeth (10/5): - All excellent N/A
- Jenny (7/5): Great staff, great food, but rooms a bit small. - Staff were fantastic, as was the breakfast. Bed was comfortable. Room was quite small and was like a sauna (literally!). Sooo hot! The staff very kindly tried to turn off the radiator for us, but we had to have the air-con on most of the night (massive waste of energy).
- Julian (9/5): A great stay, lovely staff, great location. - The staff were excellent and friendly. Jodie did a good job of keeping my elderly father entertained at all times, lovely attitude too. Lots of stairs so tricky for older people.
- ELLEN (10/5): Lovely, warm and friendly - Everything!
- Simon (10/5): Perfect stay. Location is great. Staff very friendly. Atmosphere in restaurant was great and room was absolutely brillia - Great character. Nicely presented Nothing
- Wendy (10/5): Great place to stay, will be going back. - Location, friendly , clean, lovely comfortable bed. Breakfast was great. Bathroom light wouldn’t work, wasn’t too much of problem as only stayed one night.
- David (7/5): -
- Jill (9/5): -
- deborah (9/5): Lovely location warm and welcoming comfortable bed . Great large fluffy towels . - Excellent decor location staff amazing and professional. It’s only because I’m fussy with OCD. Found lots of dust especially on base of lamp in bedroom few cobwebs especially in bar area .
Toilets in bar need all edges cleaned .
- Barbara (8/5): Lovely hotel with great breakfast - Perfect location
Great breakfast
The restaurant was stunning.
Room was nice
Facilities very good
Staff excellent The room was very hot. In the middle of December you don’t expect to have the windows open. It was therefore quite noisy. Outside noise and noise from restaurant.
Also Frustrating to know there were nicer quiet rooms available(for same price).
- Jennifer (10/5): -
- Sharon (9/5): We live very close but we had a wonderful timing celebrating my husband's birthday. - Everything was wonderful No complaints
- BIRD (7/5): - The room.was nice comfy bed The room was at the back and it was hard going through the doors and there was a step and a beam into the room anf I was tall so it was hard to get into the room. The breakfast wasn't great didn't offer cereal which I would have liked and the breakfast was small.
- Mark (10/5): -
- jacqueline (8/5): - Location value for money It was very noisy in the bar
- Moira (8/5): - Breakfast very good. Liked eggs royale. Nice shops nearby and was Wednesday when cheese and pie man had his stall, which had good selection of cheeses.
- Andrew (8/5): -
- Robert (9/5): A comfortable and enjoyable short break exploring South Norfolk - Excellent Location for a short break to explore South Norfolk. Hotel facilities were excellent and a Friendly and Professional staff made it enjoyable couple of days. A longer lead on the Hair Dryer to allow use of a mirror
- Peter (8/5): -
- Jennifer (10/5): - Vey comfy N/A
- Michael (10/5): - Excellent facilities, well located. Friendly staff. Could do with a cereal choice and fruit juice with breakfast menu.
- Gillian (10/5): - Always very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Nothing.
- Emily (9/5): Perfect little night away for us. - The food was amazing, as always. The staff were very accommodating for dietary needs. The room was very nice, big and clean. The blinds on the windows were really good at keeping daylight out. The bed wasn’t as comfortable as we would have liked, but we appreciate this is personal choice.
- Julie (9/5): Overall great experience - Clean, good location with parking and restaurant facilities good. There was a Halloween evening on which I could hear from my room (want a major issue)
- Matt (9/5): Excellent - Very tastefully decorated hotel. Very comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfast. The menu in the restaurant was the same 'bar food' as the bar. For such a nice restaurant, it would have been nice to have an elevated menu.
- Jennifer (10/5): - Nice room and comfy bed.
Plenty of choice for breakfast N/A
- Young (8/5): -
- David (10/5): -
- Lauraine (7/5): -
- Grahame (7/5): -
- Frost (9/5): Hotel is in a good location and offers all round good value. - The breakfast was adequate with good quality food.
Staff were first class helpful, sincere, and most diligent.
Hotel in a very good location.
Rooms immaculately kept. Wider choice at breakfast i.e. cereals and additional hot drinks.
Better sound proofing would be good.
- peter (10/5): Every thing we needed . - We found the property the perfect location , for our search in the local area . The staff were extremely helpful , friendly and efficient. The food menu was extensive and we dined there both nights of our stay . The food was delicious and the restaurant staff extremely professional . If in future we return to the area, will hopefully be able to arrange our stay with JD young .
- Rosemary (8/5): - The facilities were excellent as weed the staff .....

- Alexander (10/5): Excellent - Nice room with view of market. Comfortable bed. Nice breakfast. Parking right outside entrance. Nothing
- Megan (10/5): -
- Gary (9/5): -
- Irina (8/5): - This is the second time I have booked a room for my mother. The staff was very attentive. The window in the room does seem to be locked - the room had to be ventilated overnight by opening the bathroom window.
- Nicola (9/5): -
- Hewitson (10/5): -
- Debra (8/5): -
- Michael (5/5): Served our purpose but didn't quite match our expectations. regarding the price you charged. - The staff were very helpful and accommodating. Disappointed with our original room in the attic having to climb two sets of narrow stairs which was a daunting prospect for two 86 year olds. Would like to thank your waitress Lara or Tara who listened to our complaint and obviously brought it to the attention of the management and we were moved to a more convenient room.
- ANDY (8/5): Great stay - Great location, great staff and perfect for my visit... I used to live in the area and went to school in Harleston many years ago
- Karen (7/5): -
- Mimi (10/5): Exceeded expectations - The staff went above & beyond! Thank you!
