Guest Reviews
- Terrell (9/5): -
- Guest (10/5): Charming, tranquil, well located - Charming Scandi style rooms and common areas. Lovely breakfast. And most of all great hosts and staff who helped untangle a booking mishap when many would not. The area has (indeed the block has) good restaurants and bars, more lively than I was expecting, but quiet inside. Best of both worlds. Two great wine bars on the block, and more .
- Hier stimmt (fast) alles! Alles bestens!
- Bartosz (7/5): Bit overhyped and rather average value for money. - Wystrój części wspólnej, wielkość pokoju i łazienki, ilość miejsca do przechowywania. Ciężko działające i cieknące drzwi z kabiny prysznicowej.
- Guest (10/5): Super!
- Dorothy (8/5): Great option for visiting Lisbon. Far away enough from all the heavy tourist traffic but close - Great neighborhood, lots of food choices nearby. No complaints
- Hazel (10/5): Was a great stay, would definitely return. - The room was a good size and so was the bathroom. I thought it looked much smaller in the photos. Nice to have the bathroom inside the room. Everything was clean and the beds and a bathroom tidied up each day, which I didn’t expect.
Breakfast was very good with a nice selection each morning.
Paula was a great host and helpful with suggestions for the day.
- Tina (10/5): - Lidt larm fra torvet om aftenen
- Guest (10/5): Some kind of wonderful - The location is outstanding, with at least two excellent restaurants right on the plaza, and it's close to public transportation. Principe Real uphill and São Bento downhill lead to more restaurants and shops, and you can walk uphill to a Botanical Garden and a big public park, or down and across to Estrela park. The common space is big and airy and well-lit, with comfy chairs and plenty of room for all guests. Breakfast is generous and with a good variety. Because the bedrooms are at the back of the building, it's very quiet at night. The shower is comfortable, there are places to hang your wet towels, there is room at the sink for your toiletries, there are plenty of hangers for your clothes, and there is a light at the each side of the bed. I felt as if I were staying at an extraordinarily clean and well-organized friend's house, a friend who specializes in good breakfasts and likes to give you tips on fun things to do around town.
- Sophie (10/5): Great location, gorgeous room with a thoughtful hosting team! - Fantastic location overlooking a gorgeous and happening square. Easy to walk and public transport from. Clean, comfortable with a stylish and spacious communal area. Host greeted us flexibly after a delay getting through Lisbon’s nightmarish airport passport control queues, which we were very grateful for!
- Amelie (10/5): - Excellent breakfast, great water pressure, location location across from beautiful park, friendly and helpful manager Paula, quiet at night Nothing
Viele Lokale in unmittelbarer Nähe. Nichts zu bemängeln.
- Derek (10/5): Met our needs perfectly. - We stayed here for 5 nights in September. The BnB is across the from a beautiful garden which is surrounded by bars and restaurants and seemed to be enjoyed during the day and well into the night. The location was excellent, with many attractions near by. The property is nicely decorated, well maintained and extremely clean. We had a nice room facing the park, shutters in our room blocked out any noice from gatherings outside. We shared a bathroom with another room and this was not an issue for us. Temperatures were in the high teens at night so the fan in our room was sufficient. Breakfast was continental style and was very good. The staff were nice and friendly, our room & bathroom was cleaned daily. If needed, contact could be made on What’s App., We would definitely stay here again. Nothing
- Andrei (10/5): -
- Tiia Puustusmaa (8/5): - Väga maitsekas ja hubane stiil kõigis ruumides. Väga mugav voodi ja head padjad. Hommikusöök oli lihtne, aga maitsev. Toas olid hommikumantlid! See oli super!
- Gubanov (10/5): -
- Lora (10/5): - 5 rooms with a kitchen and hang out area. Slept with the windows open and people were partying until 5am but put ear plugs in and everything was fine
- Susan (9/5): -
- YOUJIN (10/5): -
- Eric (8/5): Satisfaisant dans l’ensemble. - Proximité de tout. L’hôte étais disponible et sympathique. Lit moins confortable, oreillers également.
- Katherine (10/5): The park tops off a fantastic venue - We booked the main double room with private bathroom and it was spacious serene and had lots of storage ( such a bonus). It was also quiet. The rooms to the front would experience more noise from the fun vibrancy that happens in the park into the evening. We loved the location in the middle of a great vibe community. There are fantastic cafes, bars and restaurants all around the park. So much that you could just stay in the area and be very well catered for.
The lounge and kitchen area was comfortable and it was great to be able to help ourselves to breakfast and coffee as we were out and about earlier than common in Lisbon. Although it is newly renovated it is getting close to the time when some timely maintenance will be needed (eg our shower screen had dropped and was hitting the floor and pop open doors were in need of recalibrating)
- Kseniia (7/5): nice property with friedly stuff in superb location, yet a little overpriced for offering very basic facilities - location is outbalance all the cons, great breakfast and stuff is awesome, comfortable bed bathroom has no toiletries and space to place anything, talking into consideration it is shared facility, you always bring smth there and back, you just put it in a sink or on the floor where things can get wet; bed drain in the shower, would be nice to add some small details for comfort; in the room - bedside table and space is very small and tight, great towels and bathrobes, but absolutely no space to put them when wet, 2 hooks on the wall is not enough for comfort
- Olesia (10/5): It would be great if there was air conditioning) - the hotel is located in a picturesque park, my windows overlooked the garden. There are many restaurants and shops around. Many attractions are within walking distance! perfectly clean and delicious breakfast 🫶🏼 noisy courtyard, restaurants open until late at night, lots of people relaxing in the garden and on the terraces. if you close the windows it's not very noisy
- Mike (10/5): -
- Jane (8/5): Charming accommodations in a well-restored building best visited outside the height of the tourist season. - The location is in a nice neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. The place is simply decorated with a sleek mid-century-meets-modern-urban vibe. Great staff, and a nice breakfast. During the daytime and early evening, the park this property faces is a leafy haven that turns into a lovely dinner and bar scene. I don’t know about the rest of the year, but in late July the lively bar scene mentioned above, gets increasingly loud and unruly as the night progresses. We were kept up until the wee hours (3-4am) because the drunks below were yelling, breaking glass, playing boomboxes, and, a couple-few times an hour, some drunken idiot would set off a car alarm. We are night owls and like a lovely scene but this was unconscionable. And because the place is not air-conditioned (which is fairly typical in the older buildings), the only way to stay cool on a hot summer night is to keep the windows open and the fan on — otherwise, even with the fan on, our room would have been stifling.
- Junk (9/5): Hospitable friendly staff with spacious areas outside of the bedroom. - Walking distance to anything necessary. The bathroom did not have a way to exhaust heat and humidity, and there was no fan in the bedroom.
- Iris (10/5): Aanrader!
- Lizbeth (10/5): Exceptional -
- Giles (10/5): Great location and value!! - Casa C’Alma is in a great location, super clean, and nice staff. We loved our stay! Room was small
- Ana (9/5): Really enjoyed and will come again! :) - Amazing House, amazing living room, lovely kitchen, very very clean and well located. Paula was very very nice and welcoming. Breakfast with freshly made orange juice, wonderful bread and granola with greek yogurt and fresh pineapple were a good start for the day. Soft bedsheets and towels, just like in a fine hotel! I would enjoy having the bathroom with direct access from the bedroom. Although it is a private bathroom just for my bedroom, having to carry the key and open and close it wasn't very practical. But I loved that the house gives us robes to use between the bedroom and bathroom. :)
- Katherine (9/5): Beautiful apartment in a beautiful location - Beautifully designed with a light and airy feel to it. Really comfortable bed. Fabulous location. The garden outside is stunning with great restaurants, some chic shops and a dreamy ice cream parlour. No air con and easy to hear other guests or floor upstairs during the day. But very quiet at night so no trouble sleeping.
- Delia (9/5): 3 Day Stay - I truly enjoyed my stay at Casa C’Alma! Paula was kind and helpful when I needed to get in touch with her she was quick to respond. The breakfast spread she curated in the morning was delicious, the mood was always calming with the sound of soft music in the background and lots of natural light. The location was also pretty convenient to get to lost of cool restaurants, bars, and historical sites around Lisbon. Thanks again, Paula!
- Helena (7/5): Good - Lovely clean apartment. Great breakfast. Comfortable bed. Rooms on the front were noisy due to the lively square. No air con meant that you couldn't just close the windows to keep the sound out. Our flat key also didn't work. Doors could do with soft close.
- Andrés (10/5): Exceptional -
- Francis (10/5): Great property great location - It was really well designed and in a fantastic position
- Alexander (10/5): Top Lisboa-Location! - Tolle Lage, tolles Ambiente! war alles prima!
- Roxana (10/5): Excellent! - House is nice and cozy and clean.
- Lars (10/5): Wish I could have stayed longer! - Casa Calma is located on a Praca das Flores, a lively and charming little square, surrounded by little restaurants and bars. Casa Calma itself is a little haven of tranquility. The interior is very stylish and sober. I loved the fact that there was no tv (at least in our room). The hostess was really kind and amicable, giving us tips what to visit and where to go and how to get there. Literally everything was super!
- Fraley (10/5): Exceptional - we enjoyed the common area and the kitchen and breakfast was so nice.
we loved the location and the park. everything was so convenient.
- Phoebe (9/5): Comforting & safe - It was clean & spacious!! Ideal location, easy to get in & out of, so safe for solo female travellers. Gorgeous interiors!! It’s noisy with the street which wasn’t a problem for me but just be aware. Sharing a bathroom wasn’t too bad but just be aware the bathroom is only cleaned once a day.
- Pamela (8/5): Very good - Great location!
Paula was lovely and helpful.
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Toni (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the style, the staff and everything. Great overall experience! very noisy! be aware .. but we were also staying during a very busy time
- Kirsten (7/5): Good -
- Libby (9/5): Superb -
- Izer (9/5): Superb -
- Andrea (10/5): Exceptional -
- Romney (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bec (10/5): Exceptional - Location, lots of amazing restaurants in the surrounding streets. Beautiful park, right at the front door.
- John (9/5): Maids did a wonderful job too, shame that our host wasn’t more hospitable but facilities and location were supercalifrag - Location was exceptional, sitting room and kitchen were excellent Paula …… very inhospitable
- K (8/5): Casa C’Alma wasn’t what I expected, but it was a nice stay; neighborhood and location were great. - Breakfast was nice—usually a meat, cheese, bread, yogurt, fruit, fresh squeezed orange juice.
Great location—across from a park (could get noisy at times) but easily accessible to attractions and restaurants. We could easily walk to anything we wanted to see and do from the location.
Facility was clean and well kept. Casa C’Alma isn’t a traditional bed and breakfast. Proprietors didn’t live on the facility. Rather, hired workers ran the facility. I did not know this when I booked our stay. We like meeting the owners and building relationships with them. Bathrooms are not en suite. I booked a room with a private bath, which was across the hall from the room. I’m glad I had a private bath, as I could leave my toiletries there, as opposed to a shared bath. But it was inconvenient at times.
- Jan (10/5): Exceptional - Fab place in lovely square
- Liam (9/5): Superb -
- Taylor (9/5): Great location in Príncipe Real and stylish vibe - This location is unparalleled by being in Praça de Flores around some of the best restaurants and wine bars next door and up the street not to mention a mirodouro and botanical garden nearby as well.
Bed was sore comfortable and there’s tons of storage. Night lighting too.
Breakfast was nice as it’s a basic buffet and nice to break bread with other guests from around the world.
Room at the back was perfect. I’d never know there was lively scene outside at night. It truly is Casa C’Alma.
Staff are super friendly and helped me with my bus to a nearby town. Robe was a little ratty with a hole in the armpit (house manager was modified of this) and tiles in shower were amenities, bath wise were basic. This is not luxury boutique to me for the price paid (but the location made up for it).
Breakfast is 9-11am typical to Portuguese/European standards however, for tourists I wish it was at 8am so we could get up and running for touring with the day. (Said from the hyper on the go North American mentality).
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional - Location was perfect. In the middle of a cool but quiet enough area. A little noise was to be expect as you're right in the city but the room was surprisingly quiet. Building is beautiful and well furnished. Breakfast was good, especially as it was included in the price! Paula was super nice and helpful. Top top person. Would happily stay here again. The shower door could use some attention but it was such a minor thing we did even remember to mention it.
- Lindsey (10/5): Delightful stay for a solo woman traveler - I loved staying here, it was easy to find, clean, the staff was welcoming and helpful and the surrounding area is beautiful. I also appreciated the fan in the bedroom, the nice espresso machine and the breakfast! My only challenge was figuring out which room was mine after a night of festivities because there are no identifying numbers or words on the doors! For my second night I put a rubber band on my door knob and problem solved :)
- Katie (9/5): Wonderful, recommend! - Very lovely staff, great communication on arrival, very helpful! Place was lovely and quiet, almost felt like we had it ourselves most of the time! We stayed in a room with shared bathroom and wouldn’t have known we were sharing with anyone at all. Location was away from the tourist centre but still very well located and the vibe on the square it overlooks is just wonderful.
- Peter (3/5): Building noise ruined our stay - Clean, well decorated and convenient location. There was building work which made the stay horrendous and ruined our trip. It was so loud we couldn't hear each other talk. Bedroom was small.
- Soledad (9/5): Amazing. If i come back to Lisboa. I would return to casa C’ Alma - The property is amazing.
The most I like is the kitchen and the living room. The bedroom and bathroom too small
- Jeff (5/5): Location! - Location and staff were amazing Our room bed was too small and room very stuffy, no air, although they were nice to let us change rooms for two days we had to change backthe last day and had no sleep again
- Ciomei (9/5): Very pleasant - Location, cleaning and staff. Paula and crew Maria and Sonia was perfect . Sharing restroom
- Lindsay (9/5): Superb -
- Chiara (9/5): Superb -
- Hammerschmidt (8/5): Great, relaxing weekend stay in Lisbon - The location of Casa C'alma is fantastic if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Lisbon's streets, it's located on a beautiful scare with many cute restaurants and bars - really great for a more local experience but still close to any interesting sights or shops. The breakfast was really great and we felt at home immediately The rooms are rather small and we only had one bathroom for 4 girls which got a little tight but it was still very comfortable. The rooms were cleaned everyday
- Justyna (10/5): Great and friendly place next to nice park - Delicuous breakfast, wonderful localisation, nice staff, great view from our window on the park. Very clean place, comfortable beds. -
- Esra (8/5): Very good -
- Claudia (9/5): Perfect place to discover Lisbon. Calm guesthouse! - We liked the furniture and decorations. Good beds and very calm. Perfect neighborhood with a nice and lively park. Very nice and helpful staff.
- Joanna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Levene (10/5): Felt welcoming like a home - Staff so lovely and helpful and whole place exceptionally clean. Lovely neighbourhood. A non key lock on the door and bathroom inside would have been useful
- Emma (9/5): 10/10 perfect place ! - The staff were super friendly and lovely, it really made the stay better. The location is perfect and the apartment is stunning. Also loved the breakfast - will definitely be coming back again!! The only thing was the room was a little on the small side. Room could have been bigger and it deffo needs aircon for summer!
- Louise (10/5): Clean, friendly. Top spot. Walking distance to many places to eat and stroll around the old architecture. - Fresh and airy, nicely designed. Comfy beds with plenty of wardrobe space and a lovely view over the little park. Great breakfast and friendly service. The park area was a great place to sit with a glass of wine. Loads of fab places to eat right outside, but good insulation in the apartment meant not noisy.
- David (8/5): ok - Breakfast good.
Room very good. Disappointing location, too far from metro and places of interest.
Would suggest an email or text saying that the name of guesthouse is not present outside the building and need to look for green doors and buz floor 1.
- Buffie (9/5): Great friendly and clean - Loved the location. Met several very nice people there. Super clean. Food was excellent...fresh squeezed orange juice, great bread from local bakery, etc. Easy walk to restaurants, museum, botanical gardens. We are both in our 70s. I think it would help if the rooms had numbers or names or something to identify. It has been years since I shared a bathroom, but wasn't a problem.
- David (7/5): Good - Location was nice, private bathroom was key, communal area and breakfast were good. Communication and checkin smooth. Overall enjoyed our stay. Price, too expensive for what you get. Needs a refresh looking a bit tired the rooms. No robes, no where to hang towels or clothes, not a good selection of toiletries for example, shower cap and body moisturiser missing.
Noisy, room doors and talking can be heard throughout the property.
- Hannah (10/5): Beautiful stay in the perfect location - My mum and I stayed here for a long weekend. We absolutely loved our stay. The interior is really well done and was very clean. The hosting was perfect and the location was great with lots of lovely bars and restaurants near by and very central. I will definitely come back again. I couldn’t fault anything about our stay.
- Melissa (9/5): Superb -
- Anne-sophie (7/5): Lovely host and place on a peaceful square - Great welcome and communication, good breakfast and location on a peaceful square with great local restaurants, feel at home -Noise, no sound proofing between rooms it is literally like you are living in the same flat as other guests that you can hear talk, opening doors etc sounds resonate because it is quite empty. Got woken up during the night when guests go to toilets or came back late.
-Price is high for a shared bathroom and no other toilets except than in the shared bathroom which can be problematic
-Breakfast is late (9am), 8am would be better had to wait to start the day
- Luiz (9/5): Superb - Good location, clean, updated, comfortable Breakfast time should be earlier I would say from 8:00 to 10:30 .
Some work to be done at the acoustic…as can be noisy sometimes.
- Saran (10/5): Charming and chic Casa C’Alma seduced us with its beauty. Location was excellent with lots of restaurants and delightful - Beautiful building in a great location. We booked with shared bathroom but will prefer a private bathroom in future.
- Allen (9/5): Great hotel and great location - Great location in a wonderful old house. Really nicely modernised and close to good restaurants. Unfortunately noise travels due to wooden floors.
- Ching (10/5): We had a great time enjoying the tranquility of the place. - It is tastefully done with great comforts. Nothing
- Sarah (10/5): A superb place to stay! Wonderful accommodation in a fantastic location. Will definitely stay again! -
- Bohdan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carlotta (10/5): Very charming - Location and style
- Viktoriya (10/5): Exceptional - It offers an authentic experience; you basically live in this huge aristocratic flat. Very lovely Nothing, all was good
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional - The apartment is located in a very hip & lively neighborhood while being quiet. You can pretty much walk everywhere.
The place is very clean and someone would clean your room every day. My room was big and facing the park, there were some restaurants/bars next to the building which you could visit. If you hear noise, just lock the windows and they are 100% soundproof. The staff was very helpful, simple breakfast was offered every morning with freshly squeezed orange juice --- delicious! nothing
- Bruce (10/5): A peaceful oasis in the heart of Lisbon - Very friendly and kind staff/hosts
Beautiful decor
Amazing location on a charming square with great restaurants and walkable neighbourhood
- Marta (10/5): Very pleasant in a lovely guest house in a wonderful area - Very stylish, very clean and excellent breakfast N/a
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pierce (9/5): Superb -
- S (9/5): Delightfully easy place to stay - clean, comfortable, stylish and a perfect location. We loved it. - Close to but outside the Barrio Alto and Alfama districts so feels less touristy. Right on a delightful square with a great choice of restaurants on all sides. We went to a different one each evening and enjoyed all of them. Great and responsive communication about arrival arrangements. Staff were completely charming and helpful. Delicious breakfast was a great start to the day - fresh bread, fruit, cereal, cheese, ham, good coffee. Everything was spotlessly clean. We loved the quality, contemporary and unfussy styling. We shared a bathroom so couldn't leave toiletries in there and it was sometimes occupied when you wanted to get a shower but that is inevitable and to be expected. The taps are very minimal so not immediately obvious how to adjust temperature (hint: tilt and turn).
