Guest Reviews
- Vera (8/5): - Old world charm and hospitality. Location was perfect, away from the main hustle and bustle but close enough to many attractions.
- Pratiksha (10/5): - Very bad experience ever! Wrongly advertised! Bed was very uncomfortable with smelly bedsheets n pillow cover! Wouldn’t recommend ever ! Waste of money
- Allison (10/5): - It was my first time staying at The Tasmanian Inn. I loved my room (Room 2).
It was right next door to the bathroom/toilets.
The room was very clean & the bed was very comfortable.
The staff were very friendly & helpful.
- Joceline (8/5): - The interior of the bedroom and hallway was fascinating!! and bathroom and bedroom was very clean. But because located in the intersection, it was a little bit noisy at night, but still we still can sleep tight tho!👍✨
- Chris (10/5): 10/10 - Todd was very helpful and great to deal with. The room was beautiful. I had a few meals at the bar and they were delicious. All the staff were friendly and welcoming. Was a great stay. Highly recommend
- F P LOBATO (8/5): Good hotel, excellent pub! - It is a good hotel and a excellent pub!
Great location just a few minutes walking to the Salamanca Market, for example.
The room is quite small and has no table or chair, just a bed, bedsides, a heater, and a TV. It's a well-kept and renovated room. This room has a door to the patio and the patio is used by pub patrons too, so it's best to keep it closed with a curtain if you want privacy.
Bathrooms are shared. The only drawback we encountered was that the shower water would heat up and then suddenly turn cold, a situation that happened every day.
The breakfast included in the price is good but very simple; there's only sliced bread and cereal for eat, and coffee, juice, tea and milk for drink, and you can serve yourself as much as you want. (also there butter, honey, Vegemite, jelly and chocolate powder)
The pub is very good! Great beers and a menu with amazing and juicy food. I highly recommend dining there.
- Ann (10/5): - If you want a sleek modern hotel, this is NOT the place for you. (Not all the rooms have en suite bathrooms, for instance.) It is like an old fashioned neighbor hood tavern: rooms are charming and furnished with vintage pieces and colors. Restaurant is good, and clearly popular with the neighbor hood. Staff is charming, helpful, and friendly.
HIghly recommended.
- Steve (10/5): - Street noise was a problem ! Good location ,But the food was the best ever !! And I mean it. staff were fantastic as well. Thumbs up place .
- Keith (10/5): - Great friendly pub and gastro food.
I’ll be back.
- Anthony (8/5): - Good value pub stay.
- Darwin (10/5): - Wonderful host and good breakfast food and time...
- Prince (10/5): - Staff were really kind
- Brianna (10/5): - Most of all, I felt welcomed by the staff. They were great to get food recommendations and very helpful with any other queries I had.
Definitely highly recommend it. Also who doesn’t love a pub with great food, drink and atmosphere
- Suzanne (8/5): - Great location and staff
- MIDITHA (10/5): - Located at a convenient location. Super clean and friendly staff.
- Grant (10/5): - Great affordable accommodation with friendly staff.
- David (8/5): - The property was clean, functional, well managed and security was good.
- Laura (10/5): - Lovely 1 night stop over, very friendly staff and a perfectly clean and homely room with great beds!
- Kim (10/5): - Loved my double room bed was comfortable and room was lovely and clean
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Annie and her staff were great to us! We loved our stay here.
- David (10/5): - Large room with ensuite in an old hotel with lots of character; clean and cared-for.
Check-in etc all very easy. Excellent cafés and restaurants nearby, and the hotel's own food looked good too.
A good alternative to typical modern hotels.
- Aman (10/5): - Amazing staff. Annie is a darling.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Would stay ahain - Very pleased with my stay which cheered me up during my cloudy, rainy 4 day stay in Hobart. The bed although a bunk bed was large and comfortable. The attached balcony with table was an added bonus. The shared toilets and shower stalls were always clean. The restaurant below was surprisingly good I had the house special flank steak. Despite the pub being on the ground floor, no patron or restaurant sounds wafted to the room above. Since there is a door between the restaurant and the rooms above it shuts out the noise. It is an old building over 150 years old which adds to the appeal. The location was good not far from the harbor ie 1.2 kms or so, closer to a number of restaurants in and around a mall. It is only two blocks from the old city gaol which is a major aspect of Hobarts early history. It is also close to another restaurant, shopping district in the opposite direction to the harbor with a small Woolworths across the street. In passing I sincerely hope the cleaning lady gets her long awaited holiday from her husband.
- Natalie (8/5): - Small character building awesome staff
- Anthony (8/5): - Did not like not being able to contact by phone till after 4 pm Tuesday , Wednesday, Thursday, after 3 pm Friday. Closed Sunday, and Monday,
- Aage Lyhne (10/5): - Alt var super. Hyggeligt og dejlig venligt personale.
Burde kunne give 6 stjerner.
- Kellie-Therese (10/5): - .
- Satinderjeet (10/5): - Experience was so great, morning view from Deck was amazing
- Mishu (10/5): - Cozy room clean sheets will go again
- Annette (10/5): - Excellent. Close to work and CBD.
- Timothy (10/5): - Well appointed clean and comfortable with a strong customer service ethic. Great value for money.
- Eugen (10/5): - A very enjoyable stay big rooms where we could attend a wedding in Hobart and have our son stay in a seperate room to us. We had a large bathroom within our 2 bedroom unit and everything including the meal on one night was economical and wholesome.
Staff very accommodating and freindly.
Would definitely stay there again
- Kylie (10/5): - .
- Doug (10/5): - For what I needed - as opposed to "wished for but cannot afford" - it was a jolly good stay. And, repeat business is always the finest compliment, so YES, I will be back. Thank you. Dx
- Sara (6/5): - The staff are very friendly & helpful. It’s a shared bathroom & toilet situation. You need to bring your own everything, not even a tissue box in the room itself. Perfect if you’re a solo traveller or a couple that just need a place to sleep. If you stay in the room with the patio note that the pub music plays until late and can’t be turned off separately. Also the floorboards are quite creaky so if you wake easily the coming & going of other guests might disrupt you. The Inn was walking distance to a cute brunch spot called Lazy Brunch which was delicious albeit a bit pricey.
- Rohin (4/5): - The lights in the toilet didn’t work. The bedside lamp was faulty and flickering
The place smelt like marijuana
- Ana (6/5): - The room was clean, and the bed was acceptable, though I didn't like the steel frame. There were no coffee or tea facilities in the room, but there was a self-serve instant coffee, toast, and cereal left for guests for breakfast down at the dinning area of the pub below.
For the higher price charged, the room did not have its own toilet and shower, facilities were shared.
Additionally, the light in the toilet was out.
The room could be noisy till wee hours of the morning due to the pub and restaurant below, if your okay with that then this would not be an issue.
Also room has paper thin walls allowed for noise from neighboring guests.
Location wise was great, it was within walking distance to city center, shopping and restaurants.
- Lucas (6/5): - It was good.
- Darren (10/5): - The price and it included a continental breakfast
- Patricia (10/5): - Lovely old inn. Happy to stay again.
- Jon (8/5): - Lovely hotel with great rooms and bar and restaurant downstairs
No parking except on the street is a downside but ok to park after 6pm
- Henry (6/5): - The cleanliness by Annie & her associate & overnight breakfast was good. The restaurant manager was “skimming cash” off the top, by twice pretending with sleight of hand that my credit card was not working. The guest manager in room next to 4, played thumping bass music all the time, and was shouting at his mates, out his window, at 3am !!! he’s just not interested in fulfilling the whole task.
- Andy (10/5): - Nice Staff
- Mickey (10/5): - Great service and very affordable!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place - Very welcoming and friendly
- Anika (10/5): - Fantastic place to stay, and great food at the pub downstairs too.
- Jerun (10/5): - Great value for money and Annie was great to respond quickly when I locked myself out of the room.
- Na (10/5): - Convienente and Comfortable
- Wenfei (10/5): - Great staff
- Christine (10/5): - All though the Hotel is circa 1858 the facilities are very good clean bathrooms the staff are fantastic dining great food and very economical l will be recommending this Hotel to all my friends and family a wonderful stay
- Thomas (8/5): - Only downside of this place is the abysmal sound insulation from outside. Could hear the cars all night, and god they were sometimes loud. Bring earplugs!
- Syed A (6/5): - Old property with 150 year history and pub downstairs. Had a bunk bed room but there was a balcony attached. Shared shower and toilets detracted from stay. Wifi was available. Had to use the breakfast area refrigerator to store medication. On a positive note, staff was superb and let me store baggage before my scheduled departure. Of mention, Annie, Holly, Haley and Ed made for an enjoyable evening in the pub.
- Victor (10/5): - Old time pub excellent house lager. Easy walk to harbour
- Claudia (10/5): - Impeccably clean, close to city and foreshore
Staff very friendly and helpful
- Annette (10/5): - It was walking distance to the city centre.
Clean, tidy, and had charm about it
- Caitlin (10/5): - Lovely little spot, such friendly and helpful staff! The only thing we missed a bit was air conditioning as there was some unexpected warm weather during our stay! Good location for getting to the city centre, and thankfully not too much road noise overnight. Overall a great spot, would recommend
- Jane (10/5): - Great Value, easy to get around
- Christine (10/5): - Our stay was perfect from the minute we arrived tonwheh we checked out. Annie was very welcoming, friendly and super helpful. The 2 bedroom apartment was huge and very homely.
- Garry (10/5): - There was nothing I didn't like. Great price. Great environment. Great staff. Great room. It is simple and I felt comfortable. It will now be my base when in Hobart
- Trent (10/5): - Great location for the price and friendly staff.
- peter (10/5): - The staff are the stand out. Every thing was great but the staff were exceptionally good.
- myrtle (10/5): - Staff really friendly and really helpful, continental breakfast included, close to everything
- Rossie (10/5): - It's that old house feeling of history turned into something new and the young staff is unbelievable. Many thanks to Olivia, to the chef Joe, to the bartender, to the cleaners
We'd like to stay there again when we come to Hobart
Regards Rossie
- Aaron (10/5): - Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location only 20 min walk from the waterfront. As an older building I was very impressed with how clean and well kept the room and bathrooms were. Would stay here again.
- Marjorie (10/5): - Shared bathroom and toilet but plenty so you never have to wait
Free continental breakfast provided
- Rosa (8/5): - Very clean and comfortable even with the shared bathroom. Very convenient to have such nice food and drink downstairs.
- Andrew (10/5): - Great value and location, with nicely furnished rooms. My only concern was that it was a little noisy at night due to music playing from a speaker right outside my room. Also note there is no breakfast included at the moment due to COVID.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property was in a great location staff friendly and helpful room was tidy and spotless. Traditional pub accommodation
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Authentic pub style accomodation that gave a real insight to Hobart.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Balcony on bunkroom was fun and useful.Close to supermarket and good meals in restaurant downstairs. Included selfhelp continental breakfast
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff is super friendly and helpful, rooms were great for an old pub and the food downstairs was top notch.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Will be returning :) Very clean and affordable and what a great location too.
- Maxine J (8/5): - We didn’t have the best welcome a little rude loved the place pub food and view
- TRACEY (10/5): Great pub stay - Lovely spacious room and comfortable bunk bed. Lovely modern bathroom facilities and bonus continental breakfast. Staff were friendly and welcoming and happy for me to hang out in the bar area with a coffee the last morning to avoid the rain!
- Iain (10/5): - Brilliant place all round. Staff are friendly and go above and beyond to help, facilities are abundant and well kept. You won't get better for your money
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great accom for the price just 10-15 mins walk from the docks.
Friendly staff and breakfast provided.
Lovely and clean
- Joyce (10/5): Beautiful hotel - Awesome and clean hotel
- joe (2/5): - Check in process is nightmare. We called all numbers listed but all arent reachable. Hotel seems to be dead with no customers or employees at sight.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property has great staff and is very clean and well presented. The only down side is how noisy the room is lots of traffic can be heard going by
- Verified traveler (8/5): - A great value for money inner city pub .... food was excellent, pricing was very reasonable and the staff are brilliant.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Nice breakfast. Good price. Comfortable bed
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Walking distance to the Royal Hobart hospital
Clean , easy to find .
- David (10/5): - We very much enjoyed the Tasmanian Inn. The Inn was in very good condition and maintained well. The showers were wonderful. When we booked we were a little worried about noise as one end of the first floor is a pub but the noise was no issue at all for us. The staff was very accommodating and helpful with tips for getting around.
