Guest Reviews
- Nancee (10/5): This was my favorite place to stay over the 9 days of our vacation. I highly recommend it!!! - This hotel exceeded all my expectations. Newly decorated, spotless, everything you could possibly need, in a beautiful and colorful setting. This space was like renting a lovely summer cottage with hanging baskets of flowers everywhere! Best experience of our trip! Grab bars in the shower would have been helpful.

- Faye (9/5): I enjoyed my stay and I would recommend it - Cleanliness. Even the area outside my room was clean - swept, no webs or dirt - even up above where the roof overhang is. Armand was very nice and helpful. Location was perfect - easy access and close restaurants. Although the room was clean, the floor under the bed was dusty....probably just a simple oversight and I put that in my suggestion to the maid. I don't doubt she will take care of it The plastic covering on the mattress under the sheet made it a bit uncomfortable to sleep because the plastic made me feel sticky. Probably most motels do the same, but putting a mattress pad on top of the plastic cover might help.
- Brian (10/5): Been staying here for many years, new owners have really done a nice job updating! - Very clean and updated room. Bed very comfortable. Cable tv. Shower was just a bit small.
- Sue (10/5): Staying at the Sunset is a highlight of my annual drive to visit family in the lower peninsula. - The property is beautiful with many hanging baskets and large pots of flowers in full bloom. I wish my planters at home looked as full and nice. The staff are welcoming and friendly without being pushy or solicitous. Both times I have stayed there, when I checked in, I was offered recommendations for local restaurants if I was hungry. I was encouraged to contact the office if I needed anything. The two rooms I have stayed in are very clean and pleasant. The furnishings are good quality, not the tacky, cheap furniture often found in hotels. I love the location. Even though it is close to the Mackinaw Bridge, the price is reasonable. It is the perfect stopping point for my cross country journey from MN to MI. I am able to get a full day of driving in before I stop and then from this hotel, my drive on the second day is only 3 hrs. And, because of all of the wonderful flowers, it is easy to find. I have never been disappointed by anything when I have stayed there. Another plus is the soundproofing. I have never heard even the tiniest noise from other rooms or people in the parking lot. There is nothing that I would suggest changing. The Sunset is an ideal place to stop and recharge after a long day of driving.
- Christopher (10/5): Incredible - Sunset is a 10 out of 5,. They had the most beautiful flowers with hummingbirds flying around. Very relaxing. The owners was extremely friendly. The housekeeper where very friendly Don’t fix what isn’t broken
- Meriah (9/5): Very nice motel - Really beautiful grounds. We are breakfast one day, from the restaurant next door, at a picnic table in the garden in front of the motel. Lovely and peaceful. Quiet and convenient place to stay. Would definitely recommend. The shower was tiny.

We took advantage of the Beautiful garden to relax before walking next door for a great dinner and a couple of beers No pets. We occasionally travel with our dog.
- Norm (7/5): I would not hesitate to stay again. - Mattress and bedding were very comfortable, provided good sleep.
Clean
Owner was knowledgeable and helpful with local attraction information. Nothing not to like. It was exactly what you would expect from a roadside motel. Just what you required for a good nights rest while traveling. Just what you needed, nothing more
- Emily (8/5): - This motel is right off the highway. The room was very clean, quite dark with the paneling. TV worked. Beds were comfortable.
- Shad (10/5): - Really enjoyed my stay. Bar next door is nice also.

- Susan (9/5): - It was very clean and the flowers were beautiful!! The king bed was very uncomfortable. Maybe it needs to be replaced in #5. Other than that everything was great!!
- Richard (10/5): -
- Steven (10/5): I would recommend this motel to anyone!! - The location was ideal for where we wanted to go - Shopping, dining, site seeing!! I have nothing but good things to say about this establishment!!
- Joy (9/5): - Beautiful setting, friendly staff, nicely done spacious room. Bed was very comfortable. Floor needed washing because my feet got really dirty from the floor.
- Robert (10/5): Beautiful flowers to greet you - Such a beautiful place. Owner was very helpful. We were happy with the restaurant right next door. We enjoyed our stay here Not a thing

- Robert (10/5): -
- Mary Lou (8/5): Pleasant , a good value for a short stay !! - Very clean and pleasant. Everything was very compact, but well thought out for what we needed. I appreciated the nice counter area and extra mirror in the main room Plus the handy tv trays . Somewhat small , but we managed okay .
Would have appreciated another chair , maybe a folding chair ?

- Susan (10/5): - Great location, pretty grounds, comfortable room.
- Terri (10/5): Amazing!! - This place is amazing. Beautiful flowers covering the yard. The owners were so friendly and made sure we enjoyed our stay. Would definitely stay again.

- Andrew (10/5): - Very clean! Had a soap oder
- Jean (10/5): - Nice and clean. Beautiful landscaping. Just a short drive into town.
- Gary (10/5): - The flower gardens were exquisite!
- Lenora (6/5): - The Sunset motel is quaint and clean. The rooms are small, but has everything you need. The only problem we had is it's location. It's on the way to the Mackinac Bridge so we were subject to loud truck traffic all night. I sleep with ear plugs and it was still loud. If the noise doesn't bother you, then it was a very nice place to stay. Gardens were amazing!!
- margaret (10/5): - We were pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff, cozy, clean rooms. We were very happy and would definitely recommend it .
- Dale (10/5): - Very clean
- David (10/5): -
- Vicci (10/5): - Very nice rooms. Clean, quiet. I booked a room for 2 with 2 queen beds and was pleasantly surprised that the 2 beds were in separate rooms, which was nice as I was traveling with my son , so we had our own space. Comfy beds, large screen tv, and quiet. Did I mention the quiet? It was lovely. The young man that checked us in was really nice. Told us the best spot for the best view of the bridge which at night was spectacular! Would highly recommend the Sunset Motel!!
- James (10/5): - Beautiful flowers. Clean comfy room.

- Lawrence (6/5): - No issue with Sunset Motel. Clean and staff were excellent. My issue was booking with third party Expedia. We has a issue and had to leave after only one night, because we used Expedia instead of calling and booking with the Sunset Motel direct we paid for two night and only was able to stay one night. No credit issue for the second night?

- Dave (9/5): A great, quaint place to stay for a quick getaway! It’s close to everything that is touristy, but yet without the noisy - We loved that it was cozy and quiet. I loved the bed, and I slept fantastically! The bathroom was tiny, and my wife would have liked a place to sit and put on her makeup.
- Anna (8/5): It was wonderful, just what we needed! - Beautiful gardens - a peaceful spot to sit and read in the morning with coffee. N/a
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Overall I enjoyed my stay- the room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the garden was beautiful. Since it’s on a major road, it was a bit noisy at night. The rate was spot on.

- Janet (10/5): Nice place to stop along the way to the Upper Peninsula! - A kind reception at the front desk and the loveliest flowers are the two things that stand out the most. The room was clean and attractive and there were a couple of nice touches - there was a little couch in front of the tv and there were folding tables. So simple. Why doesn’t every motel do this ??
- Karen (10/5): -
- Ron (10/5): - Gardens were fantastic N/a
- Bryan (10/5): - The flowers and shrubs is what caught our eye driving by. Checking online, we snagged the last room. The flower baskets are enormous.
- Arlyn (10/5): Very wonderful -
- Mike (9/5): - The landscaping was breathtaking. The staff wa welcoming
- Mary (10/5): - Very friendly check-in. Clean and comfortable room. Would definitely book again!
- Matthew (10/5): -
- Amber (10/5): Great Value - Cute place. Very clean, good service and pretty quiet other than the passing cars on the highway but not much to be done about that. There is a restaruant/ bar right next door with good service as well.
- WILLIAM (10/5): - Old style drive up to your door…beautiful flowers everywhere and benches outside your door to enjoy the view…nice host, clean rooms, and close to everything nearby 👍😀
- Doug Ford (10/5): Without excption, we would stay here again. - I don't usually book roadside motels when I travel. Happily, this was a successful exception. The room was very large, very clean, and very quiet. The grounds were filled with spectacularly beautiful flowers. The owner was not only very nice but very accommodating in helping us find our way in a new place. He made excellent restaurant recommendations, helped plan some fun day trips, and told us how best to as negotiate the people and travel to and from Mackinac Island. Overall, I considered it a great value.
- Olena (8/5): - Everything is very clean and tidy, the staff is very friendly, and outside there’s an abundance of absolutely stunning flowers. Everything is just wonderful. A bit pricey.
- Dona (10/5): - The flowers were beautiful just as the picture show even better. The staff was wonderful at the office. Very nice to talk to. I tipped the house cleaning extra in person because I think she does a really good job.!! yes, I would stay here again…
- Erika (9/5): A quaint motel with absolutely beautiful gardens with everything needed in the room. - The gardens there are amazing. Definitely the best part of the property. The room was spacious and well appointed with a microwave and refrigerator. The air conditioning was splendid. The bathroom was tiny but the water was hot in the shower and there was good water pressure.
- Petzold (10/5): Enjoyable! - Clean and comfortable. Friendly staff.
- Donna (7/5): I loved the flowers and the staff but it bit too noisy for me up front. - Beautiful gardens! The room was very clean and updated The room was a bit small and located right on Highway 2 with a bit a traffic. But you get away from the traffic if you had a room to the back. We were right up front.
