- Janice (2/5): Won’t be back - Location First of all, we had booked and paid for two nights, then was informed by the owner that she only had a vacancy for the second night. We were actually going for a wedding, so I asked if we could have the room early so we could get ready. She told us it would be ready for 11am which was acceptable. We arrived about 11.30, giving us plenty time to get ready. However, on arrival, there was no-one there, and no rooms ready. Another guest tried to help us and tried phoning the owner but no reply. I wandered round, but no rooms were ready. I’m not happy by this time. We found a very small room, which had obviously just been vacated. We made the most of it to try and get ready. Still not happy!!. The owner arrived back just as we were getting ready to leave. I told her I was not at all happy and she just said “sorry about that” without any explanation. When we came back after the wedding, our room was just ok. The bed was clean, but there were hairs in the shower and the overall look was not very clean. We didn’t even stay for breakfast. We went to check out. No sign of her but her husband gave us a refund for the one night. The whole experience was stressful and unpleasant.
- Derek (9/5): A lovely, homely place to stay, surrounded by beautiful countryside. - The home-cooked porridge was excellent and there were nuts, fresh fruit and honey to add to it. The toast, home-made marmalade, cereals, orange juice and coffee were all superb.
- Andrew (8/5): Great location, friendly staff and good facilities - Very friendly staff. Really useful to have use of a kitchen A couple of things needed fixing like the bed post
- Neville (8/5): -
- Nelusha (10/5): Knowledgeable and friendly hosts. - All great
- Marie (10/5): Very nice, we really liked it :) - From arriving to leaving, Everything was very personal and friendly. There are cozy rooms for just sitting down or meals. Everything was clean and we directly felt welcome. Furthermore, the family is happy to give you advices for hiking tours or other day Trips. If you dont have a car, it is difficult to get to some spots. But the family and other guests offered us sometimes to take us somewhere, if they drove in the same direction, that was great. Also the busses can be very useful and the forest behind the house and some lakes you can reach by foot are very beautiful.
- Nicolai (8/5): Angenehme Hostelatmosphäre mit sehr netter persönlicher Ansprache - Sehr nette Gastgeber. Gute Tipps für Wandertouren. Das Wifi war nicht gut.
- Markus (9/5): Wir kommen gerne wieder! - Gemütliche Lodge mit netten Gastgebern, ideal für Familien. Gutes Frühstück!
- Price (10/5): - Andy, Rebecca and Gregor where lovely hosts.
- Andrew (9/5): Short stay with work ,nice quiet area . - Nice area with cycle tracks and forest tracks walkways ,quiet . Was all good

- Regan (10/5): Cozy - Delicious breakfast, packed lunches and dinner. Excellent local hike reccomendations
- Laraine (5/5): More suitable for backpackers - The location was perfect for the event we were attending. There was a good selection at breakfast but we only had toast. The room and bedding was clean but the beds were not comfortable and there were no curtains just a wooden slated blind that let in light. I caught my foot in a loose loop in a rug and took a tumble without injury owner never appologised when I brought it to her attention The stale smell in building, not being told that we would have to remove our shoes and leave them in hall. I would have brought slippers. On checking the website when I got home I found that our room the Capercaillie was priced at £50 and we were charged £75 per night on a two night stay so overcharged £50. We were delayed by over two hours due to an accident on the A9, messaged the owners. When we eventually arrived a lady told us bluntly to wait in the lounge as she was busy. No TV or radio
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Aurimas (10/5): Great stay, lovely & hardworking owners. Definitely the place to be back to and recommend to others! - Location is just ideal, plenty of activities around to keep everyone busy! Light breakfast was included and it was amazing - tasty porridge, homemade bread & jams and of course plenty of coffee.
- Paulien (8/5): Perfect place for walks and hiking, serving great food and you can also make your own food. - Good location in a small village with a shop, pub and restaurant, well away from touristy Aviemore. The owners are very welcoming. Breakfast is great: fresh bread, coffee and home made marmelade. Nothing, all was fine.
- Robbie (9/5): Superb -
- Stuart (5/5): Not great - Quiet. Shower door was too small and the hot water took too long coming. Beds not comfortable
- Hartley (8/5): Comfortable, quiet and friendly hotel well located in the Abernethy Forest area - The hotel was nice and quiet but well situated right in the centre of Boat of Garten with some lovely, peaceful woods a few minutes walk away. The evening meals (for which you pay extra) used home-grown produce from the wonderful garden and were very good indeed! The hotel owner was very helpul and friendly and knows the local area very well so can give advice on where to go and what to do. There is also a well-equipped kitchen if you prefer the self-catering option My only gripe is that there are no tea & coffee making facilities in the room so I couldn't have my morning cup of tea in bed when I wake up. While I could go to the kitchen to make myself a cup, as I was in the annex, this would have meant getting up and dressed as I would have to go outside to get there.
- Sine (10/5): Exceptional - Everything 😊
- Caryl (9/5): Homely, friendly base for exploring Cairngorms - Very comfortable , warm and clean twin room. Wonderful breakfast ( homemade porridge , fruit, bread warm from oven with homemade jams) during which it was lovely to chat and compare travel notes with fellow quests. Lively short walks nearby and great pub down the road ! Room in annex on smaller side but beautifully quiet looking over garden
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Lewis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caitrin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kornél (7/5): Good - A helpful host. Nice surroundings. Low budget room facilities, low budget breakfast. No sense of cleanliness, smell of dirt in the house.
- Stuart (8/5): Great location and Comfortable base from which to explore. - Beds and Breakfast.
- Marie (9/5): A lovely family run lodge in Boat of Garten - I really enjoyed staying at Fraoch Lodge. I felt really well looked after. I love that people have breakfast together. You can have a coked breakfast at extra or included continental breakfast. The room was cosy. I love the living room with the fire place. The host well absolutely brilliant. It's a family run business and you feel really welcome by them. You have option to have dinner at an extra. Delicious homecooked meals.
If you are going there on your own. It's brilliant, you are going there with your family it's really good. For Easter, the host arrange a Easter egg hunt for everyone. That was cute. It's in a quiet area with excellent walk around. View on the hills and mountain as a bonus. The host knows very well the area and can give you some tips on activities. Beware of the bus schedule a bit temperamental I would say
- Brian (9/5): Recommended! - Very good breakfast, lots of products from the garden, jams, fruits etc.
- Daniel (2/5): Its cheap so you pay for what you get - How cheap it was The beds were uncomfortable, the shared bathroom didn't get cleaned everyday as there was someones shaved hair in the shower, very basic breakfast option - porridge to order or toast or cereal.
Didn't like the shoes off policy especially with clean shoes and how the room wasn't even ready on arrival even though we arrived late they also didn't confirm we was the right people staying
- Stephen (5/5): Passable -
- John (7/5): Good -
- Karen (10/5): Lovely peaceful Stay At Fraoch lodge Boat of Garten - Lovely hosts, Beautiful Breakfasts which consisted of Porrige, Delicious home made seeded bread, plenty berries mainly home grown from their garden. Home made Whisky jam was super on the Lovely Rustic breads.. Nothing .Room was fine , Comfy beds, Loved the Natural retro Bed Linen, The wool rugs, Art work through out the house..Did not realise the house and guest rooms were tv free, But Tbh, we did not miss it...
- Barbara (9/5): Superb - Rebecca's evening meal and breakfast were exceptional. Locally sourced home cooked meals away from home. Sharing meals with the family and other guests were a delightful start and end to tbe day. A hairdryer in the room would have been useful.
- Paul (8/5): Nice place for a short break - The location in Boat of Garten is excellent if you want to do any walking or similar outdoor activity as there are plenty of opportunities and busier places like Aviemore are within range. The heritage steam line runs between the two so another attraction for some. The owner has a lot of experience in winter activities so worth chatting to if that is your thing. Breakfast was very good as well.
- Haugaard (8/5): Very good - Rebecca and Andy were very friendly and helpful. The delicious jams and marmelades for breakfast all home made, some with home-grown berries. The one bed was rather lumpy and uncomfortable
- Adam (8/5): Overall really good, hosts friendly and welcoming. Would come again and recommend. - Cereal, toast etc breakfast great, liked family gathering at one big table. Lovely working garden, brilliant village shop, pub handy, excellent walks/bike rides on doorstep. Had one dinner: very nice, a bit frugal for price. Packed lunch excellent, a bit pricey.
- Julia (9/5): Superb - Kitchen facilities for guests were excellent. Interesting to talk to the owners. Lovely village in a beautiful natural area.

- Mary (10/5): Warm, Cozy, and Great Hospitality--Don't Pass This One Up! - What a comfy place! So quiet! We stayed for a week in April and it was still cold outside, but on days when we stayed in, there was a fire in the living room keeping us warm and cozy. Andy and Rebecca make you feel right at home. Andy always has suggestions for where to hike based on your experience--easy woodland walks to monro-bagging. Breakfast is warm and filling. We really appreciated the VERY WELL-EQUIPPED self-catering kitchen. You won't find a better price-point for this kind of facility anywhere in the Cairngorms!
- Rey (10/5): Cozy & comfortable stable with lovely hosts. - The lodge is very accessible and the stay was very comfortable. Must be included in any itinerary around in the area.

- Bruce (8/5): Just the job 😊 - We found Fraoch Lodge met our needs very well for a few days of winter climbing in the Cairngorms. The drying room was very useful as was the ability to have a cooked evening meal. Very comfortable rooms with excellent hot showers.

Andy and Rebecca are very knowledgeable about the area and provided great advice on hikes and things to do for our family. The shower was a little small but not a problem and served up nice, hot water.
