Guest Reviews
- jamessF1362NN (6/5): Pool Is Always Closed - The pool is ALWAYS closed. Seriously, we’ve stayed here several years, and we always check before hand. But every time we show up, it’s closed again.
- marksG2077VI (2/5): Highly Disappointing - failure to provide minimum standard of service! - Made reservation by telephone. They failed to inform me at time of reservation of a $50 per night pet charge until we checked in. They offered to let us go to someplace else. Terrible response. Of course, not an option at that point. Note our pet is tiny well trained very clean chihuahua. I asked very young girl behind desk why $50, she said it was daily cleaning charge. I reminded her that minimum wage was $14/hr - which meant cleaning person could be used for more than 3 hrs at that price.
Room was nothing special. Bathroom door did not close and latch did not work. Overall quality of room not good when you looked close. Pool dirty, had ugly looking chemical-like scum on surface.
Second day, Returned in mid to late afternoon 1500 at end of day: no cleaning had been performed in room at all. At desk, different young girl was only representative at hotel. She said the cleaning team already left for day. I requested manager contact information, won’t give out info, said that they would take my contact info and have manager contact me.
Total failure to provide adequate service. Staff young, immature, unfriendly, unable to deal with issues during day. No staff at night! Hidden fees. Quality below expectations is an and certainly way below cost of room.
- Y8805BFjulieh (10/5): Overnight stay - Checked reviews and prices online then decided to choose Aspen Hotel. The price was a lot more than prices shown online so make sure to book with a third party for the cheaper price. It was clean and the staff was nice.
- Navigator43022668642 (10/5): Excellent - It was wonderful, most welcome and relaxing atmosphere. I particularly liked the older cleaning lady as she was happy in her work making it even more pleasant , so yeah as many stars 🌟 as I can give. ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
- H5651CYbradleyw (10/5): Great place to stay - The check-in process was a breeze, the staff were friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable. I have no complaints!
- solyluz (8/5): Modern motel with laundry and well located for Soldotna - This is my go to hotel in Soldotna for an overnight stay. Quiet room at back of hotel overlooking Kenai river. Very clean and quiet room. No screaming kids. Easy parking out front. Typical Alaska room. On site self service laundry which is appreciated. Front desk helpful for local restaurants etc. No breakfast but there is a McDonalds across street. Kenai River Brewing is close by for evening food (recommended). Best reuben sandwich I ever had. Try their brown ale also.
- 177alaskag (10/5): Will stay again - Very clean and quiet place to stay and staff is friendly and helpful. Will stay again in the future. Very nice view of the river.
- Gordon (10/5): - lots of shops and restaraunts nearby
- James6060 (8/5): Pleasantly Surprised - I was pleasantly surprised by the rooms at this hotel, they were in great condition, large and well appointed. The beds were also really comfortable. The location was also really good, right across the street from a supermarket , shops and fast food restaurants. It was a great base for Coopers Landing hikes but Seward was also only an hour and a half away along with conveniences of Kenai. The laundry was also convenient although it costs $8 to wash and dry which is more than competitors.
The only downsides of this hotel is that the hot tub is frequently closed and housekeeping only comes once a week! We waited 3 days for the hot tub to open and then 2 days later they closed it again.
Overall it is a very nice hotel and I would stay again, just don’t expect for the hot tub to be open.
- Torrey (6/5): Nah. - Called ahead to make sure the pool was open for the kids, was told it is. It was not. Would have booked a different hotel just because of that. It's why we called ahead. The TV glitched, had to turn it off and on every 15-20 minutes. There was used tissues in the bedside drawer. "Comforters" were scratchy and rough. Lobby gets locked down at night, so if you're catching an early flight and have to leave at 4am, you get to walk to the end of the building and then walk back around to the front of the building.
- Cynthia (8/5): - Right by the river. Absolutely beautiful location. I visited in the fall for a destination wedding. Small, clean, comfortable.
- Oscar (8/5): - The property is very nice and well kept, the only think I did not like was that the pool and hot tub close at 9pm :( and the gym only has 1 bike a treadmill and seated bike. No dumbbells, kettle balls, or anything. Kind of a bummer if you are one to get some light exercise in or take advantage of a nice hot soak after a long day of exploring.
- Charla (8/5): - It was a nice place, close to a lot of places. Haley and Brylee were excellent.
- Matthew (10/5): - Good stay
- Sheila (10/5): - Friendly and respectful staff…Quiet and convenient location and close to the airport…Super clean room…Love the cookies at the counter in the afternoon…Great breakfast too… Will stay again 😊
- Eric (10/5): - Very clean and staff were friendly.
- Marc (10/5): - Place was clean. Beds need replacing soon. Staff was friendly
- Frank (10/5): - It offers everything I had expected - super friendly staff, nice and clean room, quiet. Since the facility is next to the Kenai River, it provides an excellent opportunity for leisure walks.
Only suggestion is to have sufficient hot coffee during the day.
- G8736FIlarryt (10/5): This is the place to stay. - Clean rooms. No breakfast. But they have a pool and hot tub. There is access to the kenai river boardwalk for fishing and also that leads to the downtown park area.
- Luanne (10/5): Great Hotel - Great trip, nice hotel
- Lance (10/5): -
- tyronedavis (10/5): Great Stay - Front desk personnel were professional and courteous. The room was clean. Plenty of towels. Felt security of guests was taken seriously. Will recommend to friends.
- Stephen (10/5): - Very clean and spacious rooms
- Lisa (10/5): - Close to fishing!
- Harry (10/5): - love the location was only 3-5 minutes to our fishing spot...will be back next year
- Raymond (10/5): - Absolutely no complaints. The Aspen Hotel was clean and comfortable. Thank you.
- Tonya (8/5): - Nice motel in a beautiful setting. Clean and comfortable, many areas to walk to and right on the river boardwalk.
- Wendi (6/5): - Pros: bed was comfortable, shower temp was very good, conveniently located, check-in/out clerk was friendly, grounds were fairly well kept
Cons: toilet paper as thin as crepe paper, shower curtain barely draped below top of the tub, no breakfast (not even a continental) even though there’s a room and counter for it, very little counter space in bathroom
- gan246 (10/5): Great stay centrally located - Great experience, super clean facilities. The service was friendly and helpful, the pool was great they had it clean and towels ready. The coffee was hot in the morning and tasty. We had a great time! This is located super close to restaurants and walk to the river! Will stay again!
- jacob (10/5): - Helpful staff and very clean
- 700kristiw (10/5): Wonderful! - The hotel was very clean and everyone was very helpful. The kids loved the pool. The boardwalk along the river is right outside the back door of the hotel . Everything was close by.
- Marlyss J (10/5): Great place to stay. - Very convenient location and great amenities including a hiking trail right next to the hotel.
- larry (8/5): Night without hot tub - Our stay was very good. The only thing that would have made it better would have been a working hot tub. It was blocked off when we were there. I was really hoping to get a good hot soak after the day I had. I tried soaking in the room tub, but it was not very relaxing.
- scott (10/5): - Closeness to travel
- JULIE (8/5): - *
- Verified traveler (10/5): Bag of Chips and more. - Very comfortable and clean. Right next to safeway very convenient.
- Callienne (6/5): - The property is good. We've stayed here the last 3yrs as part of our family fishing trip. The change of ownership really changed the stay, especially the charging for storing fish, which costs more than actual storage facilities. Its absurd to think people will purchase fish boxes and store their fish that way before they've been processed. We never had a problem storing fish in the past and coming from Fairbanks to fish for subsistence it became the main reason we stayed at Aspen. The hottub was down 5 out of the 6 days we stayed. The coffee was better in the past and there use to be creamer.
The female staff is wonderful. They're hard working and kind but their hands are tied on improving customer service because the new owners are penny pinching. Services have been taken away yet the price of the hotel has remained the same or increased. Doesn't feel like a place for residents anymore. This was our last stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean! But no breakfast - Enjoyable, but the hot tub was closed and there was no breakfast.
- Excursion23557816678 (10/5): Loved it! - Great Customer Service! 3 nights of exceptional sleeping! Amazing boardwalk outback. Would totally recommend to anyone :)
- Peter (10/5): - Indoor pool was awesome!
- Lee (10/5): - We loved our stay at the beautiful Aspen hotel. I wanted a clean, comfortable room, and I wasn’t disappointed. I look forward to staying at an Aspen Hotel again in the future.
- Barbara (10/5): - Staff very friendly, rooms clean
- Bob (6/5): - I was charged a deposit of $100 for “incedentals” but there are NONE.
- John (10/5): - Everything wa excellant except for tub drainage. Did not say anything because only 2 night stay and we didn’t want to be disturbed
- Paul (10/5): - It was a good place. It had a good walking trail next to the river. Shopping across the street
- Megan (10/5): - Comfortable, clean.
- oved (8/5): - Location is great, I didn't like that there is no staff at night and you get lock in inside, you have to find the security guy to let you out of the hotel.
- Cole (6/5): - Nice rooms. Pool was broke, and they advertised breakfast, but they do not actually offer breakfast. No problem with my service animal though.
- Susana (10/5): - Room and bathroom were clean and front desk was friendly. Great location, there is a Safeway across the street. Room was equipped with a mini fridge and microwave.
- Dalton (10/5): - Friendly staff. Great facilitie
- Dalton (10/5): - Friendly front desk, nice place.
- Penelope (10/5): - The hotel has easy access for handicapped - elevator to second floor and end doors to shorten the walking distance. Easy access from the main road through the town - back from the road just enough to get away from road noise - which isn't bad anyway. The rooms are clean and spacious to be accessible for walkers. The front desk is manned at all times.
- Donald (10/5): - Weird lobby closure hours.
- Sarthak (10/5): - Quick check in and friendly staff. Excellent amenities within the room. Nice view especially of the river on the back side of the property. They do not offer breakfast options but the coffee bar in the lobby was nice. Lots of shopping options and grocery stores nearby. Highly recommended.
- Al (8/5): No breakfast available - They need to offer breakfast to guests for the prices they charge to compare with other places.
- 818mrt (10/5): Wonderful stay - If you are searching for a great place to stay in Soldotna than look no further. Comfortable clean rooms. Centrally located with a great staff. Beautiful views out the back with a nice walking trail. Special shout out to Jamie who was super. The only thing she is missing is a cape.
- robinfH6791AY (10/5): Great stay! Would stay again. - Room was super clean. Beds and pillows very comfortable. All staff I saw were super friendly and knowledgeable. Definitely recommend! Good location, right in town. Fast internet. Plenty of coffee in lobby. Elevator if needed. Laundry available. Liked the hair products.
- George (10/5): - The staff was fantastic and this was one of the cleanest hotels I’ve been in in Alaska.
- lyndasJ5343BQ (10/5): The fairytale the princess and the pea - It was very pleasant. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was a firm mattress, so it was really wonderful for my back. The pillows were great as well. I loved it that I could control the temperature. Most of all it was quiet and I felt very, very safe.
- Letha (8/5): - My room was very quiet and comfortable. Nothing fancy, but I loved it. There were a few things that got missed when cleaning, but I doubt it would happen twice. The pool and hot tub were glorious.
- Mizraim (10/5): - The security of the property shouldn’t be checking people in at night that isn’t his job.
- david (8/5): - The staff were really friendly. Easy check in. Rooms
Were clean and comfy.
- Andrew (8/5): - We have stayed many times. The television sound would benefit from a sound bar. The built in speakers distort when volume is increased. No pool or hot tub!🙁
- Lizzie (8/5): - It was a nice stay but the pool and hot tub were out of order the entire time of our stay. I would have enjoyed the hot tub and pool if it was open.
- Amber (6/5): - Comfortable hotel, but very sad to see that the pool was closed while we were there. It was a huge reason we chose this hotel.
- Duane (6/5): Average - We have been staying here for 3-years and have never been able to use their pool. Don't count on it. They don't have a morning breakfast of any kind.
- Bertina (6/5): - We stayed at the Aspen Hotel in Soldotna primarily because it advertised a pool, which was a big deal for our family—especially our child. Unfortunately, upon arrival, we found out the pool was not operable. This was incredibly disappointing, especially since the hotel’s website did not mention it was out of service. It led to a very upset kid, and we likely would have chosen a different place if we had known in advance.
That said, the rest of the stay was fine. The room was clean, comfortable, and nicely maintained. Staff were friendly, and the location is convenient. Just be sure to call ahead and confirm amenities before booking.
- BARR (4/5): - I researched which hotel to stay at by which one had a hot tub and pool. According to the website they had a hot tub in pool so I booked my trip I get there and they said they no longer have been offering the pool and the hot tub. So why is it on the website the first place. Extremely disappointed it really pissed me off.
- Zoelea (8/5): - The pool was closed with no notification. The room was clean enough but a bit dingy. Kids were tearing up and down the hallway yelling until midnight. It was an ok stay but I’m not impressed. Equal to a Super 8.
- Amelia (6/5): - Sink in the bathroom didn’t work but I was there for a turn and burn so less annoyed. Children running through the halls at 9:45pm screaming at the top of their lungs took a damper on things.
- Autumn Dawn (10/5): - Property was clean and staff was very kind. I had forgot something in the room and then held it for me until I could come back and get it. Would definitely stay again.
- Slayqueen29 (10/5): Amazing trip to Soldotna - We went for a wrestling tournament and this was the only hotel with a pool. The pool and hot tub were both amazing. The staff there was very helpful and convenient. My family and I both loved it there was so much to do and I would highly recommend going to the playground.
- ChrIs (8/5): - The pool is always closed every time I come here. They say they don’t have but one person who can control the chemicals. Why advertise having a pool then?
- Sherryl (2/5): Wouldn’t Let Us In - Paid for the room online after a long night in the ER. The security guard refused to let us into the property. Claimed it was because we did the reservation through a third party. Frankly I think he was offsite and too lazy to one down and let us check in.
- Anisia (10/5): - It was very quiet and relaxing
- B9686AGrosek (8/5): Reasonable accommodations for a reasonable cost. - Friendly staff, clean rooms, but no breakfast of any type. We appreciated the staff’s immediate response to a sad dog left alone in his person’s room. We did have a nice room on the river but being Alaska in the winter we couldn’t see it. Would love to come back later in the year!
- Debbie (10/5): - Love this motel. Great room and great bed👍
- Anne (8/5): - Convenient location, comfortable bed, quiet area.
- 978karalynns (10/5): Love this hotel! - Nice big room, quiet, clean, fridge and nice king bed. It's great for extended stays. They only need to provide some utensils, paper towels and plates. Other than that the staff is super friendly and the hotel itself is very clean. Will stay here again!
- KARA (10/5): - Quiet, clean rooms for extended stay or just a night or two! This one is amazingly quiet. Everyone was so kind.
- johnthomasn2024 (10/5): Manager very professional - Very accommodating service. Wonderful hospitality. Felted like we where home. Looked wonderful to our next stay. We recommend anyone that just wants to get away for weekend. Very friendly staff . The room was very nice. The manager was very professional. Thank you
- kellyhY9324KF (10/5): Only place I stay in Soldotna - I enjoyed that I was able to park my car at the end of the building next to the door. I asked for a handicapped room but all I needed was the chair for the bathroom I didn't need a rolling shower that was provided everybody was pleasant I was met with a smile from everybody the parking lot was clean the hotel is clean I did get to use the exercise room which was a big plus overall wonderful stayWas only a 5-minute stay from from where I needed to be
- Donovan (4/5): - The room had a weird layout, like it used to be a kitchenette or something. It had a tiny little desk, which made it virtually impossible to get any work on the laptop done, and who would want to with the cheap, uncomfortable little cafe' style chairs that were in there. Also, the front desk closes and is gated off at 11 pm.
- Ketwalee (8/5): - Nice place
- 92lorettah (10/5): Family - Our family came down to be with our sister who was dying of cancer at the Central peninsula hospital. We were wary and exhausted so they let us check in early. I had stayed at Aspen before and it’s the first place I thought of. The rooms were clean, the beds and pillows were a dream. The sheets too. Usually they’re harsh but these made it very easy to fall asleep. I have recommended this place as well. Thank you for the comforting stay in a difficult time for myself and my family.
- 649hj (10/5): Clean and tidy - Cleanest place in Alaska that I’ve ever stayed. Clean. Tidy. And clean and tidy. TripAdvisor wants 200 letters so did I say it’s the cleanest and tidiest I’ve ever stayed in? It was spotless, cozy, and tidy. I’ll stay here again for our Kenai trips.
- 230svetlanad (10/5): Great overall - I will give 5 stars. The room was clean and we had the best view on the river 😊
The stuff was very kind and friendly.
My suggestion; please bring complimentary breakfast back 😊
It was great overall!!
Thank you!!
P.s.
I wrote nice review. Don’t understand why reviews need to have 200 characters?
Please take this part off, or no one will right review for you. That’s how I felt.
- VirgoSun10 (10/5): Spacious room, - Stayed for 5 nights, in town for a wedding and some additional exploring the Kenai Peninsula. Was impressed with the spaciousness of the room, kitchenette, plenty of furniture/drawers to unpack and get settled in. Bed & pillows very comfortable, we are spoiled tempurpedic people and usually have a hard time getting good rest while traveling but not the case at Aspen Soldotna. Everything you need for a nice stay without the extra frills & added cost :)
- I1907RIstaceym (10/5): Nice and Clean Hotel - All staff members were encountered were polite and helpful. I called for an early check-in since we drove several hours for a Wedding and they were accommodating.
We enjoyed the pool, would have loved to use the hot tub but it was closed. However, the pool was warm. Laundry facilities were nice and clean. The hotel was very quiet. The price for our room was reasonable. Room was clean and had extra blankets for the cold night. Everything was perfect!
- charles (8/5): - Neat clean close to River.
- Vic (10/5): - Clean, comfy pillows and bed.
- Mary (8/5): - The Aspen was comfortable and convenient. I choose it partly because of its proximity to the river boardwalk. I was also pleased there was a small fitness room to use, but the only equipment was one elliptical, one treadmill, and one recumbent bike--no hand weights at all! I never saw a fitness room with no handweights and that's what I really wanted to use. Maybe people steal them...?
- Melissa (10/5): Great Stay for Soldotna - The Aspen Hotel was a great choice for a stay. The front desk staff was very nice and efficient at check in. The rooms were very clean and beds were comfortable. We were on the back side of the hotel which offered a great view of a small lake and woods.
- Katheryn (8/5): - Staff was very friendly & helpful. Rooms were clean & the bed very comfortable.
- Gabriel Ramirez (8/5): - Clean, quiet and easy access to restaurants
- Alan (8/5): Okay stay - Very nice view out the window—pond surrounded by trees.
- James (8/5): - One of the nicer properties in Soldotna. We moved to this property after seeing the property we had originally reserved. I was very pleased with the upgrade and the price was very reasonable. I would definitely stay here again.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Good stop - Clean, comfortable, laundry machines handy, perfect for an overnight. Nice reception staff.
(Management please note: coffee creamer is Nasty, and it would be so much better to provide shelf-stable cream in both guest rooms and lobby. Just a hint.)
- Jennifer (10/5): - Staff was very friendly, room was clean, it was nice to have a kitchenette!
- RYAN A (8/5): - Was a good place to stay. Kids liked the pool. Hot tub was out of service.
