We were getting ready for a wedding and we needed more mirror access, especially close to an outlet. It took some creative maneuvering for two ladies to get ready. The parking wasn't included and cost ~20 per day. It was loud over the weekends in the middle of the night. Lots of people partying. The hotel wants to charge you for everything it can.

Only one wash cloth for three people.(Asked for more) No counter, table or shelf to set our things, only the floor was available.

- Mark Pinder (7/5): 2 night stay at Hood River Hotel - Comfortable stay. All day coffee station. Old world charm and friendly reception. Nice selection of toiletries in bathroom. Frequent freight trains through the night disrupted sleep, but they did supply ear plugs to visitors which we thought was a nice touch. Could serve well for trains and significant other too!

My vooking said 'Garden Suite' , the space outside our windows looked like a garbage dump. It is tiny. Unhealthy, super processed corporate snacks in room. No parking and no unloading zone

The decor was nice. Love the old photographs. Extras: LOVE the little room with a view and a chess table. That was the highlight! Broder Ost: Breakfast restaurant next door/attached... good, filled me up. A little pricy, but not bad. The smoked trout was DIVINE!!! Bathrooms/Rooms: Small. Yeah, it's historic. But the Garden Queen is not for large people and the shower is small and the toilet also low to the ground and small, so it's fine for averaged sized people, but would be uncomfortable for very tall or larger people. Lights: There are patio lights on in the rooftop "view" of the garden rooms that are on all night and visible through the curtains. Also - don't be fooled... the "garden" view is a ugly view of a roof area, no access, pots with weeds and fake plants. Staff: Functional, but not friendly.

- Josh (2/5): Not a good place to sleep - The lobby was cozy, they gave us two drink vouchers. The attached cafe had great espresso. The explosively loud trains were not explicitly mentioned in the description, only ambient noise was referred to amongst the gift of earplugs. My wife didn’t sleep even while using ear plugs. The bed was in terrible shape and needs to be replaced with a better quality mattress. Woke up sore. The heater in the room would run all night making the room hotter than sweat and the window wouldn’t stay open even with the freeway and train chaos noise disrupting sleep. Had to cold shower all the hot sweat off me in the middle of the night just to go back to sleep.

The door was heavy and swung open and then was hard to shut. The sink stopper didn’t work and the shower dial was old and hard to adjust. Towels could be upgraded. We realize these are problems of an old hotel and didn’t diminish our enjoying our stay.

- Tracy (10/5): Our usual go to in Hood River. - We love the location of this hotel. It is walking distance from all the downtown stores, restaurants, and drinkeries. They have live music every Saturday night. We have always been greeted by amazing staff when we arrive, this time the guy who checked us in was definitely checked out. Check out was what we have come to expect, kindness and by someone who enjoys their job.

- Laura (8/5): Great staff and location - Within walking distance of downtown and all the shops. I booked this room for my mom for her birthday and they were very sweet to her. She told me they made her feel special. Alicia helped me over the phone and she was amazing. Im grateful for her help. While it was easy to find parking, it was paid parking during business hours which was a little annoying. Im glad my mom called ahead of time, but not all rooms come with mini fridges and microwaves.
- Hans (3/5): Unpleasant and inhospitable experience to be avoided. - The hotel is well situated in the lively and quaint town of Hood River, Oregon. However, it faces the Columbia River and thus is right along both I-84 and the main transcontinental railroad tracks with trains running throughout the night. This historic hotel is quite run down despite some valiant attempts by the owners to keep it going. There have been some visible improvements made but these are not sufficient to keep up with modern standards. The first thing one notices upon arrival is that there is no parking provided. One has to park on the street and the parking spaces immediately outside the hotel are metered so that one has to pay the meters starting at 8:00 a.m. in the morning or one receives a ticket. The heating systems within the rooms are antiquated radiators from what looks to be the 1920s. They are either non-functional or extremely hot but nothing in between. The hot water supply in both the sink and shower also vacillates from hot to cold making a shower a very unpleasant experience. The desk is covered with sundry items to purchase from what should be in the store in the lobby. Suffice it to say, staying at the Hood River Hotel was not a pleasant experience after a long drive.

However there were things hard to deal with. The shower is extremely small. The sink is in the room. It's just a sink. No where to put anything, toothbrushes etc. There was no hot water in the entire building but that, I'm assuming, is not a regular event. They did refund us the last night but we really had to scramble to find somewhere else during wine crush and fruit harvest. All and all it was just OK.

Hood River’s website indicated we could buy a parking pass prior to our visit. I did so and after hitting the send button, I realized that we were being charged for the current day, not our travel day which included an overnight stay. I had to call the parking company, City Parking Solutions, to get a refund. They indicated they have had problems in the past with the website on this issue. My credit card was charged, but I was told by their employee that my card would credited.

- Lynne D (9/5): Such a lovely stay! - The location was perfect! We could walk to dinner & window shop with ease. We also loved the cozy fireplace in the lobby for gathering & waiting. And the onsite restaurant was convenient and tasty. The old-school elevator gave us a bit of trepidation. There wasn't even a panic button inside of it, so I don't know what one would have done had the elevator malfunctioned. We were on the 3rd floor and ended up taking that instead.
