Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Inka Wonder is in a great location in town. The room overlooked the river and was very comfortable. The staff were helpful & a small breakfast was included, the coffee was really good. I did have to pay with cash at the hotel in local currency as they do not take credit cards which seems to be common in Peru.
- LuisG (8/5): - Inka Wonder is best for a quick one night stay. We requested breakfast for the next morning but we did not receive it. We had to leave not long after and could not wait for the breakfast after waiting an additional 30 minutes. The hotel had good hot water.
- Qwun (10/5): - Good location and the staffs are really nice. It’s belong the rail so there was some noise.i think it’s depends on the room. My room did not have windows for outside. So it was dark. But it was just 1 night and no problem.
- Mariliz (8/5): - Excelente ubicación... para pasar la noche estuvo muy bien!!!... nos fueron a buscar a la estación de trenes a pesar que les avisamos dos horas antes que llegábamos... muy buen servicio...
- Pochi (10/5): - Very nice small hotel close to Machu picchu train station and bus station .
- Ulises (8/5): - Fue una buena experiencia , hubo falla con el wifi. Sin embargo, la atención y servicio muy buenos ! Lo recomendamos!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Close to bus station for Machu Picchu, luggage storage, very helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Perfect budget hotel - We stayed here just for a nights sleep before machu picchu. Easy to find from the station, the staff were very helpful, beyond expectations. Made sure we had everything we needed for the next day and suggested where to eat and not eat and what to be careful of. Room was good for the price, WiFi really good. Nice quiet room. Breakfast is served from 4am
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great customer service, front desk was very helpful with guides for the area and other requests
- Aileen (10/5): Love the location - We had a great time at Agua Calientes. The location was great. The staffs were wonderful, especially Diego from the front desk. He helped us with anything we need from booking a guide to needing 2 glasses for wine to enjoy on the roof top. The view was awesome. Easy walk to everything.
- sharon (6/5): Great place to spend the night - Great place to spend the night! Close to everything, however the shower and bathrooms seem to always have a problem. Either the shower curtain was too small and water was going everywhere or the toilet wouldn’t work. Other than that the hotel was very clean and staff was very friendly!
- Christopher (8/5): - It is a good place to stay for a visit to Agua Calientes and to Machu Picchu. The staff is nice and helpful. You get a breakfast and wifi with the room. The shower is nice and hot. It is close to the bus ticket booth and drop-off and pickup site for the ride to Machu Picchu. We reserved with a credit card and thought we would pay the price listed on hotels.com. There was a charge to use the credit card instead of cash. So bring cash to pay for the room.
- ya (10/5): - the room is nice, great view. but you can hear every guests‘s voice . During our stya,we had few issue while we stay there. but the staffs are very nice and responded right away to fix our issue. Breakfast is simple but very good. will stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great staff, convenient location - Staff is great and super friendly, they will even pick you up from the train station and walk with you to the hotel.
Room was clean but some items needed some tlc/upkeep. There was a tv in the room with satellite channels, which is a nice perk. The best part is however the convenient location near the train station and the bus that goes up to Machu Picchu. They even begin serving breakfast at 4 am to make sure you have time to eat before catching an early bus up.
- Diana (8/5): Location - Hard to find the entrance.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - The hotel is in a great location and the views of the river from room is amazing. Staff pickup from train was appreciated. Room was very clean
Bathroom needs a renovation and only received cold water. The room is very basic but has everything you need for a brief overnight stay.
- Karen (6/5): - Inka Wonder is a low cost, basic, clean accomodation in a convenient location. Showers had hot water and good pressure.
Issue #1 - security/safety. The door to the room only has a doorknob button lock. No deadbolt, security chain or bar. The lobby wasn't always staffed, so anyone could easily go to any room and pick the lock to gain entry quickly. Also, the bathroom had an opening to the outside that was only covered by a shutter with 4 small panes of glass. The shutter was not lockable and missing 2 panes. I had to ask the staff at the front desk twice to have this repaired. When they showed up, they needed a stool to reach the opening to do the repair. They did not bring one but asked me to use the night stand.
Payment was also an issue. I booked 2 rooms for 2 families, 1 night, for CAD$100 total, payable at the hotel. However, when the staff processed my payment, he did it in USD, so I was overcharged CAD$30. When I pointed this out, he did not understand the difference between CAD &USD values. Once he understood the isssue, he did not know how to refund the overpayment and insisted I come back the next day at 10 am to speak to someone who could sort this out. This was not an option, as we had plans to be at Machu Picchu the next day and leave on a train back to Cusco as soon as we were done. $30 isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but the inability/unwillingness to resolve the issue was.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good value. shower was a little wild spraying water in every direction but nice and hot. Good location
- Nitu (6/5): Could be better - No hot water in shower or sink. Housekeeping did not make our room.
- MB (2/5): Not recommended - Mold everywhere (mirrors, blankets, walls). Breakfast staff did not show up but we were reimbursed by the afternoon staff for the missed breakfast. Luggage storage is just a wall divider, not secured. Best part of the stay was that we were only there for six hours.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location and good for a night's stay before heading out to Machu Picchu. Receptionist was very friendly and knowledgeable, and provided us with ample information on what we need to do before our MP trip, as well as F&B recommendations.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Basic hotel in a good location - Decent hotel in a good location. The guy working there was great! Had a lot of information, very helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff are great. Front desk goes to great lenghts to provide great service
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very loud in the night - A lot of noise makes it impossible to sleep before 1AM. Can hear people talking very loud in the lobby, train passing at the front of the hotel just about when you want to close your eyes.
- Hector (10/5): This is a small basic hotel in aguas calientes - My room was clean and comfortable, good, hot shower, spotty Wifi and basic breakfast.
The really good part was that my room was next to the river and I could hear the running water of the urubamba river, all night long.
The staff is really friendly and will strive to help.
I had a really good experience staying here
- roger (8/5): Good stay for Machu Pichu visit - Just one stay after Machu Pichu. Local hotels in area are inflated. Found this one to be the best bang for the buck. Excellent front desk service with knowledge of the area. Checked in less than 5mins and off to the bus for the 12 o’clock tour of machu. No frills but adequate. Clean. Great location. Still can’t belive they have a 9am checkout. Cost 20soles to stay till 1130. Over all good value
- Ashlee (10/5): Nice hotel, great location! - My mom and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights while hiking Machu Picchu! If you are looking for a clean room with a hot shower used for a short stay, this is the best! Perfectly located in the middle of town and the path to hike Machu Picchu! Hotel staff spoke English and very informative. Included a free breakfast (croissants, ham&cheese, jelly, coffee, and juice) on the rooftop overlooking the river!
- Adrian (10/5): No complaints, staff was great! - We stayed the night to visit Machu Picchu and the front desk staff spoke perfect English, was extremely informative and helped us out in planning our hike. The rooms were one of the best of our stays in Peru. A light breakfast is also served.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very good location. Great staff. Has great view fr0m the 5th floor. Highly recommended.
- Richard (8/5): A Good Place to stay - The young man at reception is exceptionally helpful. Good room and beakfast and clise to the trains and buses. River is great to look at and hear outside your room. A clean basic place to stay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - This place is just ok. A little loud and dirty but the front desk is great
- John (8/5): Nice Budget Hotel that Overlooks a Rushing River - Inka Wonder is simple, clean, and confortable little hotel that´s fine for an overnight visit to Machu Picchu. The beakfast was good, the staff were nice, and the bed was comfortable.
I downgraded my rating of Room Comfort because there was no hot water in the morning, before I checked out and left for Machu Picchu. (A warm shower can do wonders for your disposition, not to mention your personal hygiene).
- Catherine (8/5): Nice place - The check in was easy and the staff was very helpfull, they give tips for shopping and restaurant. The room was clean pus the infrastucture needs a bit of love. A big hold in the wall/celling of the bathroom. We dis a good few hours of sleep before our expedition to machu picchu.
- lizbet (8/5): - The hotel was clean, staff very friendly the only con that i give them is no cable tv only one channel .
- Katherine (8/5): Great location and river views - Overall a great stay at the Inka Wonder hotel. The shower temperature was inconsistent but the room was comfortable and clean. The staff was great and quick to help with anything we needed. The view from our room was incredible and the location was perfect. We would definitely stay here again!
- Rebecca (8/5): Great nights sleep before climbing Machu Picchu - Only stayed for one night before climbing Machu Picchu. Perfectly clean and comfy. I'm sure the view out of the window was amazing but we didn't get to see it as we arrived after dark and was up and in the Machu Picchu queue before sun up.
- A (6/5): Great location....but - The location is wonderful but the rooms are cold and dirty with leaky faucet, hard to flush toilets, and smelled like urine. Breakfast is pretty bad and check out is at 9am. They make you pay for the room at check in not check out and no one is at the desk most of the day and room keys are left easily accessible. Not safe or secure. Could be up to 5 floor walk up. Breakfast at top floor. No elevator.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic but clean - The place is well located and we had a nice view of the mountains. The staff (2 ladies) were very courteous and knowledgeable. The beds were comfortable and the bedding was warm enough. The room was clean and as simple as it gets... the beds, a small bookcase to put your stuff, a coat rack to hang everything and a nightstand. We received towels and small soap bars (and toilet paper). No shampoo or anything else. The breakfast was also very simple but fine. Coffee/tea, bread with ham and cheese, jam and pineapple water. The sound carries easily through windows and doors, so you can hear the conversations as people come down the stairs. Our bathroom window (room 202) was partially broken creating a privacy issue. The shower was warm and with a nice water pressure.
- Mauricio Marín (8/5): Excellent for night to go to MachuPicchu next day - When we arrived we had to wait 30 minutes until the staff attend to us. They serve a good breakfast.
- YY (6/5): Nice location, but noisy - We stayed there for 1 night just for Machu Picchu
Pros:
-Very helpful staff but they don't speak English at all, we have to use google translate
-Convenient and busy location, next to rail and close to the bus stop going to Machu Picchu and restaurants
-The room was good size
-No cup for teeth brushing
Cons:
-Very noise due to the train passing by and early bird people
-The bath room shower was too hot and our skins were almost peeled off
-The bathroom ventilation was too bad and the outlet was wet, my straightener got short circuit and not working after I accessed the bathroom outlet
- Ken (10/5): Nice place - Closed to railway station. Just too closed to the river, then a little bit noicy.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Basic, good for a short stay - Inka Wonder is jammed in behind a pharmacy and between other shops, and is right beside the train tracks. The hotel construction seems a bit improvised, but adequate for a one night stay. Trains are loud, but do not run late at night. The staff was super friendly, and gave us good advice to buy our bus ticket the night before, suggested queuing up before 5:30 am, etc. They also suggested the Indio Feliz restaurant, which was good.
- WB (10/5): Leaves nothing to be desired! - Some of the friendliest and most helpful staff you will find. Very modern amenities. Hot showers with great water pressure. Excellent complimentary breakfast. Located a few steps from the center of town.
- April (6/5): Flying friends in the shower - The location was really good as it was near the train and bus pick up. It is located near lots of restaurants. It was difficult to find and sort of blends in with the rest of the town. There were little friends in the shower (bugs) which was a little annoying. The wifi was nonexistent which was very annoying.
- Ross (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay except the wifi wasn't the best in our room, would go into the reception area to use the wifi. Our tv reception wasn't the best but we weren't worried about it. The breakfast was good & was able to get laundry done which was good.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fairly basic hotel but provided all we needed for our one night stay before trip to Machu Piccu. The owner was extremely helpful in explaining what was what and served a good breakfast at 4am.
- Matthew (8/5): Inka Wonder was al I expected and needed - Being an older person the main thing I want are a good hot show and bed, the Inka Wonder provided both. They also provide a basic breakfast at no charge, by basic I mean a Peruvian breakfast with juices, breads, eggs available, jams, fruits. The shower was good and hot water plentiful, even on the fourth floor. The owner appears to be a woman who is always there. Hew English is limited but it all works out fine. My Spanish is almost non existent so how can I complain. You can leave your bag there while you go up to Machu Picchu and pick them up before taking the train out of town. The only bad thing is you leave them on a shelf with other peoples and she doesn't tag them individually so technically someone could go in and take your bag as well. The bag area isn't locked. It's easy to find. Being by the train tracksmight be a problem but I only heard one train, basically you're not in your room at all except to sleep. For the price this is a good hotel.
- Márti (10/5): Very nice stuff, clean room - The room was clean, the breakfast was very good with an amazing view to the mountains. The stuff was very nice, helpful and friendly. I'm highly recommend this hotel if you want to stay 1-2 on the Machu Picchu.
- Mario (10/5): Nice hotel with a view to a river - Great hotel with friendly staff. The view is breathtaking. It's next to a river and the majestic mountains. 3 minutes walk to the train station, the buses up to Machu Picchu, the exotic square, markets etc...warmly recommended
- Jessica (8/5): Clean, cheap rooms - Good, clean room with en-suite bathroom. Close to all amenities
