Guest Reviews
- Leoné (9/5): -
- Matamela (8/5): - Breakfast
Easy to locate Bar
Parking
- Gadija (7/5): - Close to the beach staff was friendly Breakfast menu was the same daily we stayed for 5 nights. No fruit
- Nel (7/5): I will be back soon! - I enjoyed being so close to the beach and we were upgraded to honeymoon suite!! Maybe replace the room windows with one way glass as closing the curtains spoils the perfect view!
- Charles (8/5): Memorable stay - Good, good Maybe a small fridge
- Brunhilde (9/5): -
- Tersia (9/5): Fantastic stay, very quiet and relaxing vibes. - Breakfast was fantastic. There is a menu with enough options to choose from to satisfy everyone's needs. The cappuccino is a definite, the best I have tasted. The hotel is close by so many fabulous restaurants, our favorite being The Black Sails Restaurant. Fantastic Art Galleries in the town and it was awesome looking over the Bay to see the Fishermen launching their boats and then later returning to land. There is nothing we did not like, everything at the location was as per the bookings.com site.
- Serfontein (9/5): -
- Wendy (7/5): -
- Gauld (8/5): -
- Judy (7/5): - Breakfast was simple but very well put together. Staff were wonderful - friendly and welcoming.
- Marcha (9/5): Happy visitors :-) - We loved everything about the Paternoster Hotel!
- September (7/5): - Staff and food was excellent Tv limit channels
- Jamiela (4/5): We had a relaxing time as my husband suffered a severe heart attack 2 weeks before our holiday. - 1) The hotel was accommodating in postponing my booking to 2 weeks later than the date initially planned
2) The rooms were clean, comfortable and cleaned every morning with clean towels
3) The shower head was the best I've had 1) The breakfast was pathetic, even though they tried their utmost to cater for Halaal. You could only choose one of the items on a short menu with only 1 cup coffee, Tea or 1 glass of Juice. The same every morning.:-(
2) I would suggest a buffet breakfast with porridge, yogurt, fruit that YOU can choose from and that beverage should be bottomless.
3) The rooms lacked 2 bottles of complementary water, a small bar fridge and tissues.
4) By 9pm, the entire place gets locked up, NO PERSONAL, no access to the lounge area. The only access is a side door, with a key supplied by the hotel from the unsecured parking area that leads to the rooms.
5) NO security personal at night at the Hotel and parking area. It is on the Main road and anyone has direct access to the cars. The Hotel is not enclosed for safety purposes.
- Jamiela (4/5): We did have a relaxing time, we drove out of the area every day - The rooms was ok. No drinking water, bar fridge, tissues The breakfast was pathetic. I would suggest a healthy buffet breakfast with porridge, yogurt, fruit, bottomless coffee, tea, juice.
The parking area is not secure, NO SECURITY on the premises at night and it's not enclosed as anyone can get to the car from the street.
The entire place including the lounge area gets locked up at 9pm. The only access you have to your room from the parking unsecured area is a side door, with a key supplied. This is very unsafe.
- WOODS (10/5): AMAIZING - BREAKFAST WAS GREAT. THE STAFF WAS AMAIZING.LOVE THE BAR AREA. HAD A FANTASTIC TIME.
THANKS SO VERY MUCH/
LVE ALL WAS GOOD
- KathRyn (8/5): - A charming place. N/a
- Darcy (9/5): - Clean and comfortable room. Friendly and helpful staff. Good breakfast. Interesting themed bar!
- Judian (7/5): - The location was nice and central.Walking distance to everything. Was very peaceful and the breakfast were great
- Meiring (10/5): I can highly recommend this hotel and the friendly people of Paternoster. - This is a 3 star hotel where you get 5 star treatment. We spent 4 nights on Bed/Breakfast package . We had a sea facing room with a small veranda over looking secure car park and lawn and a view of the setting sun over the sea. Highly recommend that you choose a sea facing room Breakfast was a choice of 3 with the third being the whole eggs, sausage etc etc, toast and tea or coffee from drip filter(excellent.)I can highly recommend the mussel plater, 20 for R140! Need I say more? We ate our meals in the hotel as it was cheaper than down art the seafront. We went to the famous "Panties Bar": and it lived up what I had read about it. The barmen are very friendly and we found "klippies" to be not too expensive. Overall, a wonderful 4 days and nights in a charming hotel. Would go again, soon, if it wasn't so far from DURBAN!! Well done Management and Staff. Nothing.
- Mike (8/5): - It's an old traditional hotel very quiet when we were there
- Erna M. (5/5): - Lustige Einrichtung Die nötige Sicherheit war weder im Haus noch auf dem PP gegeben
- Nombulelo (8/5): It was the best place to be - The location was superbep, few steps to the beach. Breakfast was delicious and Carisma at the reception was the best. She gave us a sea view room, I couldnt have asked for more. I will surely go back. Nothing
- CHANTEL (8/5): -
- Wendy (8/5): -
- Fransua (10/5): - Staff super friendly! Jody helped and assistated us in a spectacular way. Thanks you will see us soon
- Rupert (8/5): Excellent location and good value - Lovely hotel, fresh air, safe windows, great location, staff very helpful and kind, big room, great shower, allowed inside parking for security of motorcycle. My room has a “odor “ that I could work out. Being a round the world motorcyclists I am not the sweetest smelling creature but it’s was noticeable and may be drains or something that needs attending.
TV is not Internet version so only local TV - not an issue to me as I had Internet and YouTube from WiFi on tablet
Overall everything good

- Gail (10/5): -
- Johanna (8/5): -
- Nadine (10/5): - Amazing place and friendly people Loved everything
- TERS (6/5): Tercia Pelst - We were very disappointed that it has no fridge or table or chair, space was very small. The shower was in a bath.which was quite high, toilet was faulty
- Flippie (7/5): - Friendly-ness of staff...
Location... Tv struggle to work...
What about a proper sport channel or a Afr channel for our Afr guests....????
- Mawenzi (5/5): Okay for a night or 2, but did not match our expectation, sorry. - The included breakfast has been good. Eggs got fresh prepared and tasted very well. The staff has been always friendly and supportive. Parking lots have been available in very close distance. The atmosphere at the hotel, however, left something to be desired. The rooms were dark, the furniture was ancient, and there were gaps in the wooden floor in several places. The bathroom could certainly have used a renovation as well. Everything worked, and the bed was okay, but unfortunately we didn’t really feel at home in the room.
The price level for hotel stays in the Western Cape has generally risen significantly in recent years, but here I find it hard to see an acceptable value for money.
- Nel (5/5): Thunder! - The beds in rooms 1&2 were extremely comfortable and the rooms were clean. The bathrooms were clean and comfortable. Room 2 was musty. I am used to hotels in small towns and this old lady needs a loving touch by a caring hand. It is time. Front office is messy. Staff unfriendly. Cigarette smoke coming in from the stoep was an affront to the senses. Noises in the street and on the property late at night, so sleep is a no go. One guest biker decided to rudely awake a friend with Thunder by ACDC at top volume with a portable speaker at his door at 7 am. By that time my sense of humour was gone. We were all reminded that the hotel is now the kind of place for a less discerning client. So as Barney Simon said, if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. I won't be going to this particular kitchen again then... Trash on the beach? I know this is not the hotel's problem.
- Anne (9/5): -
- Eddie Noble (9/5): Best small town getawsy - Great hotel, friendly staff, good food Rooms could do with a revamp
- christine (6/5): Paternoster Hotel review - I loved the location. Beautiful community, friendly service. Safe area. Close to beach, walking distance. Variety of restaurants is amazing. Basic breakfast but loved it. Hotel very basic. Floor of room bit dusty. Toilet and shower together not working. Bath still have plastic curtain.
- Allison (6/5): Wouldn’t stay again or recommend - Central town location near the parking for the beach. Room was clean and beverage-making facilities. Pretty run down
- Kobus (8/5): - on site restaurant, and breakfast
- Sidney (10/5): - Paternoster Hotel has a very relaxing atmosphere. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast was awesome. The hotel is central. The beach is within walking distance. There were no bar fridges in the rooms.
- Sean (10/5): -
- Gerald (8/5): - Environment Excellent Smoking zones
- Rogers (1/5): Horrible had to run away - Nothing Rooms small, no air-con run down and not clean. So bad that we only stayed one hour and moved to another hotel.
- Willem (8/5): - Right in the center Rooms not well insulated for noise.
Not a nice breakfast
- Octavia (8/5): Historic West Coast charm meets incredible hospitality! - Breakfast was delicious and the staff were great, with a lovely sense of care in the way it was served. The location was excellent, with the beach a mere 5 minute walk. Nothing not to like, makes for a great overnight in the majestic Paternoster.
- Pieter (8/5): -
- Lezani (7/5): -
- Christine (7/5): Great spot. - The property is well located, just a short walk to the beach. We liked the Panty Bar attached to the property. Good fun! The hotel is small enough to get to speak with other guests at meals. The food is very nice and the portions are huge. Nothing
- Koos (7/5): -
- Christopher (7/5): -
- Neels (6/5): -
- Shirley (8/5): Nice stay! - Great position for getting around. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Upgraded us to a sea view room which was nice. Most unusual bar, the panty bar!! Pillows were not very comfortable, but that's a minor thing!
- Tania (7/5): Paternoster hotel - Carisma is an amazing human being ,and your lady at reception, all very friendly.
Staff all very friendly, place and location Great, breakfast was also great, however, staff need to be aware of when serving your clients, staff are still eating and have food in their mouths while serving us.
The lady with the patch on her eye,not professional.you cannot be coming out of the kitchen with breakfast in your mouth and serving us .
The showers were great and upgraded, but the rooms need more upgrading in terms of maybe a microwave or small fridge in the rooms., other than that the stay was pleasant.
Thank you again for your hospitality
- Jade (6/5): Loved the staff, so super friendly and helpful especially Roska - The breakfast was great, the staff were fantastic and the location very central. Thankfuly they supplied fans, or the heat would have been extreme The rooms are incredibly dated, showers are in the bath and no fridge available in the rooms, which was a bit disappointing. Definitely needs some maintenance
- Fouche (10/5): Perfectly quaint - Perfect location, incredible staff.
- Quentin (10/5): Great experience - Staff super friendly, everything perfect Cant think of anything
- buis (10/5): -
- Rene (8/5): -
- christine (6/5): Paternoster hotel needs uprgrade( - Location of hotel and Paternoster is amazing. We went for Jazz festival. People are very friendly. Staff very friendly and helpful The rooms of hotel very basic. Hotel and facilities needs an upgrade. Towels very old. Take your own towels with. Bathroom very basic with plastic curtain. I didnt like the room. Bed sheets had brown marks on. Room floor was tidy but dusty.
- hajotbe (7/5): Angenehmer Aufenthalt mit nostalgischem Charme - gutes Restaurant und (Raucher-)Bar im Hause, prima Frühstück Restaurant und Bar um 21:00 geschlossen

- Ryan (10/5): -
- Elizabeth Ann (8/5): -
- Niki (10/5): Perfect for us - The staff was incredible and the on prem bar was a high light
- Richard (8/5): It was really lovely to experience the atmosphere of this small fishing village - The location was very good, we could see everything from the balcony of our room Nothing
- Margaret Jean (4/5): -
- Sharon (8/5): -
- Bernard (6/5): - Pas de table, ni de frigo, 1 seule chaise dans la chambre…
Hôtel complètement fermé à 6h30 du matin alors que nous avons prévenu de notre départ tôt
- Smit (3/5): -
- Jaco (8/5): Definately a must experience at least once in your lifetime, we will go back for sure! - The place is special! Staff was super friendly and very accommodating with regards to our motorbike. We traveled by bike and were allowed to park our bike on the enclosed stoep in the evenings for more safety. The restaurants food was absolutely delicious and fantastic worth for your buck! Breakfast was top notch!
The staff in the bar are real sports! We even pulled the BMW bike into the iconic Panty bar after they closed for an incredible photo session!
Will remember this for the rest of my life! We were there over new years.... would have loved to have a new years party at this venue, but it was no problem, up the road was a restaurant within walking distance where we enjoyed the last hours of 2025!
- Yolande (9/5): - We enjoyed our stay. Very friendly and helpful staff.
- Adam (9/5): Amazing stay - I really like family room nr 1 facing the sea, the staff was so friendly and i really enjoyed interaction with them , breakfast was good
- Michael (7/5): Good - Good location Parking
- Peter (8/5): - Great price and location Power of water at mid day could be very poor but that is due to water shortage in the Cape I assume
- norma (8/5): Just what we wanted for an easy stay in Pater Noster - Classic, simple clean hotel
Central location
Helpful staff
- Pillay (10/5): -

- Este (4/5): -
- Percilla Vernon (10/5): - Great service, great breakfast I liked everything
- Jan (9/5): - The rooms in the wing were modern. The bed in our room was incredibly comfortable and the bathroom, though small, was very well appointed and modern Soap holder in the shower would have been good.

- Sarie (10/5): - Liked the location and the staff was very friendly and helpful
- Paul (8/5): - Superb location and great staff Needs a new shower curtain
- Brenda (10/5): excellent - Very clean and comfortable rooms. Suggest to put a mirror in the room for woman blowing their hair. Otherwise we were satisfied. We were a bit confused about the breakfast, there were no staff around at a stage to ask.
- Suriakumarie (3/5): - Not on beach as requested
Room too small for 3 ADULTS SHARING
- MadisonV (8/5): - My husband and father in law loved it!
- Raylin (7/5): -
- Anne (6/5): Disappointed & needs a facelift - On the main road and easy to find Unfortunately we had booked dinner which when it came was nice however we got the starters but waited over an hour for the main course, a small function was on & we were left. We felt sorry for the waitress who got the blame which it wasn’t, the manager on duty just want organised
- Scott (10/5): - The Hotel was really Good and the Staff were Supberb.
They made us feel so welcome and went the extra mile to serve us. Highly highly recommend this Hotel,👏
- Anri (7/5): -
- hefer (5/5): - Location, staff and food Single ply toilet paper and loose toilet seat
- Christian (3/5): -
- Gouvêa (2/5): - Everything is old. The towels were full of stains and very thin. The bedding also were full of stains. The pillows were old and very thin. The tub bath had a whole and water would come out from it when we showered. The bathroom curtain was disgusting.
