Guest Reviews
- Msweli (10/5): Was awesome - Everthing
- Monwabisi (10/5): I am going back again - Revolving restaurant
Friendly staff None
- eric (10/5): Everything as advertised and expected - Kosi Bay bucket list ticked! - This was a unique lodge, in the bush, very well equiped, beautiful views from the restaurant, exellent food, friendly staff, comfortable room All was well
- Mark (10/5): -
- Rene (9/5): - Tropical atmosphere and a lovely view from the restaurant
- Pieter (9/5): - Swimming pools.
Friendly, honest staff - nothing was too much trouble.
Serviced daily.
Tasty, value for money food at the revolving restaurant.
Air con.
Nice cooking pots etc Room is being renovated after our stay.
- Yusuf (6/5): - No microwave or oven . Just a gas stove.
Quite inconvenient for reheating food .
There was hot water in the evening but no hot water for showering in the morning -we needed to bath and leave by 5am so no one to call to sort out.
Bathrooms are also a bit dated and could use a little TLC.
Otherwise it was a decent stay, beautiful location, neat and clean.
- Michelle Olive (8/5): -
- kerstin (9/5): - Tolle Aussichtsterrasse für den Sun-Downer. Ungewöhnliches Restaurant mit 360 Grad-Blick.
- niki (10/5): A lovely place to stay to enjoy comfort and wildlife - The staff were amazing . Arranged activities for us including a visit to Tembe Elephants park , a trip across the border to see Mozambique and a boat trip on the lake . Our guides including Bongani , Sibu and Michael were all excellent and made the days very enjoyable . The food in the restaurant was top drawer and the staff were brilliant . Would defo recommend. I cant fault anything from.our stay . It was very enjoyable .
- Lage (9/5): -
- Gayle (8/5): -
- Tracy-Ann (7/5): - The place is gorgeous and well
Positioned. Rooms are large and well equipped and comfortable

- Jane Coomber (7/5): Anniversary stay - The location was tranquil but a bit far away from everything and you really do need a 4x4.
The boat trip we took was pleasant but due to heavy rains, the water was very dark. We didn't see and hippos unfortunately and couldn't swim or snorkel
The room we had was very peaceful and spacious with a lovely shower. It had everything you needed.
The bed was quite comfortable although had a strange smell.
Our maid was lovely and kept our room clean The whole place needs maintenance especially the decking around the small pools which weren't very clean.
We had breakfast once which was overpriced at R140 each and not brilliant. There was only a couple of cereals to chose from and some stale bread for toast
- Gayle (9/5): - Lovely spot. Close to Mozambique border. Happy staff

- Carin (8/5): -
- Fundy (9/5): We had an amazing time with you, see you next time 🌺 - The breakfast is good. Nothing.
- Chantel (8/5): - Great location and facilities. The fact that we were given (and charged for) two seperate chalets when one would have been sufficient for the number of guests.
- Suzette (10/5): - Stunning place, food and rooms Friendly staff
- Yashika (9/5): A beautiful getaway location - The place was lovely!
We enjoyed everything in this place, minus the odd big spider we saw :D
We stayed in the hotel side and it was comfortable. The upgrade to the restaurant was a nice unexpected addition to the stay. While the staff were all super friendly and helpful, they may need a little more training, For the meal time rushes, they were slow, but apart from that, cannot fault this place at all.
- Kurt (8/5): Ok für kurzen Aufenthalt - schöner Poolbereich Essen bestellen dauert ewig
- Thokozani (10/5): my stay was great - it was great nothing
- Robyn (9/5): -
- danielle (6/5): Mooie plek - De ligging en het restaurant Het rook een beetje schimmelig
Er was geen wifi en geen tv terwijl dat wel in de beschrijving stond
- Theshenthree (7/5): It was lovely for a short stay. Well priced.Wonderful staff. - Beautiful location.
Great views.
A revolving restaurant in the middle of nowhere… this was a surprise. Linen and amenities were not great
Towels had a bad smell.

- Rajagopaul (8/5): -
- Haseera (10/5): - Great views. Extremely accommodating and friendly staff.
- LUGZ98713 (8/5): - Safe and excellent location.
New rotating restaurant is brilliant attraction.
Staff are friendly but service was lacking. Afternoon shift at reception wasn't up to date with pre payments etc.
- Charmaine (9/5): -
- Peter (6/5): Golden oldie - Great location
Friendly and efficient staff
Good restaurant
We had a great boat trip of the lakes Room and everything in it needs to refurbished. If we were staying more than just the one night we would have asked to be moved.
Maybe more money should have been on the rooms vs building a revolving restaurant
- William (8/5): -
- Martina (7/5): -
- Andreas (9/5): Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt im Gebiet von Kosi Bay. - Herrliche Lage. Schön ruhig, viel Natur, nahe der Kosi-Seen. Sehr freundliche und hilfsbereite Gastgeber.

- Astrid (8/5): A great place to stay to explore Kosi Bay Area - Safe Lodge, good location, friendly staff, good day trips organised A bit dated chalet, matress not comfortable
- Lindiwe (8/5): - Comfortable beds
Clean rooms
Staff is very friendly and communicates about everything Horse kept chasing us
- Petra (9/5): -
- Silva (10/5): - Tudo. Nada.
- Kathleen (8/5): -
- Isak (8/5): -
- Hennie (7/5): We are glad we opted to stay at Kosi Bay Lodge to explore the area. - Access road not good for a standard car. Observe a big effort is put in by owners to upgrade the facilities. Experienced friendly and helpful staff throughout our stay. Our unit needed some upgrading and general maintenance, but we enjoyed our stay. Restaurant offered good variety and quality food. Breakfast was well prepared and a good variety of items. The boat ride on the lakes was a highlight. Our unit need some upgrading and new equipment. Dirt/sand road to Lodge can be challenging for a standard car.
- Pierre (8/5): Very good -
- Nelson (9/5): Superb -
- Anna (9/5): Superb -
- Iris (8/5): Very good -
- Libby (10/5): Well located bush lodge I would definitely recommend! - It was a wonderful setting in the bush with a great restaurant serving tasty, hearty and well priced meals with friendly staff. We enjoyed the viewing deck and look forward to the completion of the revolving restaurant. The swimming pools and braai area were amazing and we loved seeing the buck on our walks around the lodge. Shannon and Enoch were very helpful and the boat cruise on the lakes was most memorable. The room was spacious and very comfortable.
- Ena (3/5): Poor -
- Derick (7/5): Not to bad. - The room, bathroom and bedlinen was clean. The dinner in the restaurant was nice. The aircon in the room is also nice. The fact that there is NO wifi in the rooms. There are also very limited TV chanels to choose from. The road to the lodge is very bad.
- Abigail (8/5): We had a very nice quite place for relaxing and clearing up our minds -
- Venita (8/5): Very good - The service and friendly staff were hreat. Vety comfortable beds and well equipped rooms. That we weren't given a map or pin drop to get to the Parks board gate for permits. The roads are very confusing!
- Gayle (8/5): Very good -
- Philani (9/5): Amazing. I would do it again - The place is beautiful and clean with friendly staff It has bad comms and the WiFi only works closer to the reception. I was also a bit worried driving in those sandy roads especially in a small car
- Shirley (10/5): I enjoyed the lodge the units were clean and it is centrally located from the restaurants. The breakfast was delicious - Very serene and clean The parking a bit small
Neighbour’s car parks half infront of your unit.
- Truly (4/5): Lovely stay however the receptionist we met Shannon was unfriendly, lizards & cockroaches in the cabin, not a self c - The peace and quiet of the lodge,
beautiful place trees and nature somewhere you can rest. The after hours (we checked in at 16:00) receptionist we met Shannon wasn’t friendly or helpful at all she didn’t have time to explain anything luckily the following day another lady came through she was helpful in explaining activities to do permits n the like she was heaven sent .
This lodge is in the bundus so expected nature however our room had a family of lizards the entire cabin , there Wr cockroaches in the bathroom the pest control was disappointing.
Food wise their restaurant was a let down we didn’t eat at their restaurant because of food not being available on their menu .
Our room said self catering however there was no microwave only 2 plate gas stove .
Kosi Bay is a beautiful place to send time in nature lovely local Zulu people, the lodge had its disappointment however they can all be improved, they need to prioritise EVERYONE!!!!.
- Mitton (9/5): The perfect "Forest" getaway. - The owner of Kosi Bay Lodge was very friends and assisted us immediately when there was a slight mixup with the booking.
The accommodation was exactly what we expected and the property is very nice and like staying in a forest, as can be expected in that area of South Africa.
The pool was welcoming on the very hot and humid days and the staff friendly and available, offering refreshments.
- Luxolo (9/5): Superb -
- Nomkhosi (7/5): Awesome - The place was beautiful, nice swimming and breakfast was delicious. It’s far from the actual road. The gravel its not smooth, it’s not good for the private cars and direction boards are not so clear.
No buffet breakfast.
- Kananelo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kananelo (10/5): Exceptional -
- Herman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Galina (1/5): Bad - When we informed the staff re non-possibility to reach them and asked for at least some minor return (eg cost of breakfast, unused facility etc), they refused, but really tried to find at least some solution (offered to leave money as a deposit etc). Unfortunately this doesn’t help, as we are on vacation here and are not flexible to move dates from our side. Unfortunately we were not able to reach the hotel, as the roads were closed. Unfortunately, the booking was non-refundable. It was a bad idea to make reservation of more than one night before reaching the property.
- Kelly (10/5): A slice of paradise nestled in a coastal forest - views, service, RnR slushies - perfection! - Kosi Bay Lodge is an absolute gem! Tucked away in a beautiful coastal forest, the chalets are super comfy and have everything you need. The restaurant serves amazing food, and the staff are next-level friendly – seriously five-star service. Loved chilling by the pool all day with an ice-cold RnR slushie in hand. The reception and guides were super helpful, making it easy to book activities. Honestly, the most relaxing and stress-free getaway ever! Nothing - it was 100% on point!
- Syffert (9/5): Superb - We always enjoy our stay at Kosi Bay Lodge. Beautiful place to relax and enjoy your holiday. We will definitely be back again.
- Heide (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful place clean neat. Just home away from home.
- Suter (4/5): Disappointing -
- Hannes (8/5): Perfect stay for what I want - Everything Nothing
- Cheryle (10/5): We will definitely be returning - I don’t usually post reviews, but Kosi Bay Lodge absolutely deserves 5 stars! The place is clean, well-maintained, and the food is not only reasonably priced but also deliciously prepared. The owners are incredibly hands-on, warm, and accommodating. Their genuine care and value for their guests truly set them apart—something I’ve found lacking in many other places I’ve visited. Oh, and the R&R slushes? A must-try! Nothing.
- Gert (9/5): Pleasant and staff helpful - Clean accommodation very good food Nothing
- Vusi (9/5): Superb -
- Christo (7/5): Good -

- W (9/5): Amazing stay! - The friendly staff & amazing surroundings. It was exceptional cold weather and would have preferred a bath also in my room. 😁
- Nomsa (9/5): Superb - Awesome place, my go to when I am in Kosi and surrounds! I love the place The sand
- Lucie (10/5): Exceptional - Always absolutely fantastic!
- Johan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Annalize (9/5): I would recommend this lodge to anyone. It’s a little haven - Breakfast was ample and fresh in a calm atmosphere, lots of families present. The staff were always very friendly and sincere. The boat trip exploring the Kosi Bay lake system is well worth it. The boat driver explained a lot of detail about the fish kraals Everything was great. The restaurant even allowed me to warm up my takeout from the previous night, because I could not finish the huge serving the night before. Well done and keep up the great effort!
