• John (10/5): Comfortable stay and perfect location. - The property is beautiful and very secure. A code is needed for the gate, to enter the building, and to enter your room. We felt very safe walking in the neighborhood. The location was perfect. Many restaurants and bars are within a ten minute walk, mostly flat. There is a bus stop just outside the building. Our room was large and comfortable with a couch and chair. Air conditioning worked great. There is an outdoor covered patio area, but we didn’t use. Looked comfortable. Our host Silvio was very helpful to recommend restaurants, bars, and explain the bus schedule for popular locations. He even made dinner reservations our first night and reserved a cab for us on departure. Nothing

• Fanny (10/5): Wonderful stay at Villa Matissa - We had a wonderful stay at Villa Matissa. The garden was beautiful and the room was spacious and always clean. Great location nearby cozy restaurants, the owner Silvio gave us great recommendations on restaurants and breakfast spots. Easy access to the whole city by foot or (when feet are tired) by bus/tram. I would definitely recommend Villa Matissa to anyone visiting Rome. I liked everything.

The front entrance and hallways could be illuminated at night on a more of consistent basis, and a screen should be placed on the windows to keep the mosquitoes out at night, allowing the windows to be kept open.

Les chambres et salles de bain sont belles et confortables, la propreté irréprochable. On peut profiter d’un beau jardin et d’une jolie terrasse. Silvio, notre hôte s’est montré de très bon conseil et toujours disponible. Rien à dire. Tout était parfait.

• Sunita (10/5): Very cosy and not in the crazy busy centre made this a very restful time away. We would come back! - The location of the guest house was ideal. It was a direct connection from the train station via tram to a five minute walk from the guest house itself. We were maybe five minutes walking from the centre of Trastevere. But a tram was also available a few steps away to the centre. The room was ideal, with very comfortable bed and clean room. There is also a very beautiful garden and terrace available for when the weather is good. Silvio was a very good host. He was Kind and helpful and also available via WhatsApp for any questions. Trastervere was a very fun area to be in for restaurants and bars. We had no downsides to our visit at all.

• Tammy (10/5): Great place to stay for a few nights. - The property is very nice. It has a private security gate and you also use a key card to enter the building then also your room. Silvio was great to work with. He communicated quickly and thoroughly and also made dinner suggestions and a reservation for us. It well located in the Trastevere area. Right in front of a bus stop and not too far to walk to many of Rome’s major areas. The bed was really comfy.

• Emily (10/5): Best quiet stay in the most trendy part of Rome - Silvio is the best host I’ve ever had. He’s so kind and really makes you feel at home. He also gives you the best recommendations and is there to help with whatever you need. The property was in the best location, close to plenty of restaurants and shops but in a quiet safe neighborhood. Close to tons of tram and bus stops so it’s super easy to get to all the big places in Rome. I will always stay at Villa Matissa every time I go to Rome! Nothing!

Also, Silvio, the owner was helpful when we needed reservations made or a taxi called. He also coordinated rides for us to and from the airport. • Hinkley (10/5): This is an idyllic spot far enough from the more lively streets in Trastevere to relax but not so far that you can’t par - The property was in a perfect location for easily seeing sights while still having some peace at night. Silvio is a great host, offering tips about the buses & streetcars that stop just outside the front door or around the corner. Plenty of restaurants nearby but we were happy to be a few blocks from the nightly scene in Trastevere. Our room was large, overlooking the lovely garden. No complaints 😊

• Andrea (10/5): I highly suggest staying here. It was affordable and lovely. - This is a small hotel that feels like staying in a home. It is within walking distance of several cafes and restaurants and close to the center of the cobble streets of Trastevere but sits on a side street away from the crowds. We found Sylvio very helpful with our check in and suggestions of where to go to eat, maps and bus info. It was a perfect location for my daughter and I. There are a few buses that stop directly in front of the hotel that take you to central Rome near the Colloseum or Termini. There is also a small garden to sit in if you want some time to relax in the quiet. The room is clean, simple and quiet. There is a shared kitchen area with sink and dishes available. Each room has a small fridge which is helpful for keeping water. We loved our stay - it was perfect for us. If you are staying bring your own toiletries as there is a simple body wash/shampoo which is fine but for my daughter and I we needed more products but we purchased them near by. The nearest cafe is a few blocks away- this is a very residential street so if you are looking to be in the center of things know that you will walk at least 4-5 blocks. We did not mind this.

The host - Silvio - was very accommodating and gave us a nice little intro to the area and the property, then otherwise stayed out of the way. As many other reviews will point out, it’s a quiet little location set back from the street, high ceilings and big windows, with a beautiful garden in the back. Great reprieve from busy days in Rome. All around, excellent trip, no complaints and would stay here again!

Silvio was an amazing host and had recommendations for the best places to get food nearby which were spot on and he arranged our reservations and airport transfers. The villa is in a great location, a short walk away from all the food offerings of Trastevere. You can easily get a tram or bus into the centre of Rome as well but we ended up walking everywhere anyway as it wasn't that far. We loved sitting out in the lovely garden in the mornings and the evenings with Sam the cat. We highly recommend Villa Matissa and will stay here again if we manage to return to Rome.
• Susan (10/5): Lovely, quiet, convenient, and great vacation stay! I truly didn't want to leave. - I appreciated everything that Silvio helped with. His recommendations for local, non-touristy eateries was spot on. The one restaurant he made a reservation at, for me, was probably the best pasta dish I've had in decades. Silvio was there when needed and otherwise, left me to my privacy. Perfect! As an added bonus, right outside the gate is a bus stop that was incredibly useful. There's a nasone at the end of the block and the property is within a 3 minute walk of everything Trastevere has to offer. I'm usually rather good at finding something negative; however, I have nothing but praise for Villa Matissa.

Provision of Breakfast in the property would make us return. - The strong points were: 1 - The owner / manager of the property was very friendly, efficient in resolving any issues and helped us in any possible way providing us with good transport from / to Fiumucino Airport, good indications for places to eat, instruction about urban transport, among others; 2 - The location is excellent in Via Dandolo. The lack of breakfast served in the property is a detractor, but the availability of places nearby where we could go out for breakfast mitigated the issue.
• Joanne (8/5): Clean, convenient and in a safe neighbourhood near the trendy Trastevere eating district. - We wanted to stay away from the busy historical city centre and in the trendy Trastevere neighbourhood. Villa Matissa was just a 5min walk away from all the eateries so it was quieter but very convenient. Silvio was attentive yet discreet and very helpful. The room was a little spartan but the cleanliness and daily servicing kept it very pleasant. The doors are heavy and sleep might be disturbed if you have inconsiderate fellow travellers. Nothing that is Silvio’s doing though.

The location was very convenient and we loved being able to jump on a tram so easily into the centre of Rome. The well-maintained formal garden provides a welcome oasis after exploring the city. The light sleeper might have a bit of an issue in the particular unit we stayed.

• Gerald (8/5): Stay was comfortable and pleasant. Good value for the money. - Service was excellent. Bus line is right in front of hotel. Many restaurants a few blocks away. Gardens are awesome, but we really did not use them. Room was satisfactory. There wasn't a whole lot to it.
• Mackeurtan (9/5): Superb - Location was wonderful, with a lovely peaceful garden with a fish pond and beautiful trees. Silvio the owner could not have been more helpful, always available to help with taxis or restaurant bookings. It was a wonderful place to stay. It was a bit noisy in the mornings hearing the other guests but nothing too loud
• John (10/5): Will recommend it to family and friends as a great place to stay while in Rome. - We do not eat breakfast early and ate out after a morning walk. The room was more than adequate for our needs with regards space and facilities. The cleanliness and attention to detail was the same as I would expect in a high class hotel. Everything was perfect for us with regards to privacy. The attention to detail shown by Silvio when we arrived was most helpful. The gardens offered a great deal of privacy.
