Guest Reviews
- Robert Gwyn (1/5): - Location. Facilities poor. Unclean. Uncomfortable. Paid for breakfast but advised no kitchen on site.Owners not on site. No info on parking options as advertised.
- tony (10/5): We'll be back! - Perfect spot near the front. Comfortable room and great staff. Very clean house. Nothing. It was perfect for us.
- Nick (2/5): We got to see and do what we intended. - The bed was comfy. Walked into town centre. The room was on a main road into town so traffic noise and a dodgy drain lid to boot. Curtains hanging off. Overall very tired looking decor.
- John (8/5): - No free car parking anywhere. Also quite expensive for standard of accommodation.
- Frank (1/5): Diabolical, do not take any notice of previous reviews, the current owners have no hospitality experience. - Nothing Filthy and disgusting. We couldn’t stay our second night. The place has new owners who don’t speak English. The door to our room wouldn’t lock, very unsafe. I want my payment refunded please , we are thankful that we haven’t got bed bugs. I will be reporting this property to the UK Health Department, I will not stop fighting until I get a full refund and I manage to have this hell hole closed. Nobody else should go through what we have.

- Penelope (5/5): A little more tlc and a welcome would make for a pleasant stay. - The location was useful. The quirky decoration was fun. There were no staff at the property, just a note to phone and a 40 min delay before they could tell us the room number for one of the two rooms we had booked.
The shower room could do with attention especially the creaky door.
- Sandra (1/5): -
- Valentina (7/5): -
- Jack (9/5): Tickety boo 🤙 - Easy straight forward no hassle.👌 All good 👌
- Turnbull (1/5): Very disappointing. - Location was good. Nobody checked us in. We had to ring a phone number to get in and a man turned up and just took our suitcase and put in our room. No communication whatsoever. We didn't see anyone else for the rest of our stay ( which we cut short). We needed information and had to ring the phone number on the door just to speak to someone. She wasn't in the property and said the member of staff was probably 'hiding in his room'. We went searching for him and the whole house was empty. We decided to leave early.
- Donnan (8/5): Very pleased - Very cosy homely room.
We were out of season so did not meet any staff.
- stephen (7/5): - Location was great
- Nancy Ann (8/5): Very good stay and would stay again. - We stayed for one night. The guest house is very cosy and clean. Our room could use an update and the bathroom needs some refurbishing. Overall, we had a nice stay, we were within walking distance of bats, restaurants and the harbour. The bathroom in our room could use an update and a little refurbishment.
- Susanne (7/5): -
- Kathryn (8/5): I will return if more travel is in my future. - The location was excellent, easy to get to shops, ferry and train, beautiful waterfront. I’m rather fussy about food and the breakfast wasn’t for me, but Chris happily produced toast and marmalade and a banana
- Flurina (9/5): Zentral gelegenes Gasthaus mit sehr freundlichem Personal. -
- Jean-Marc (8/5): -
- Mae (6/5): - Great The house is old and needs some upkeep.
- Euan (5/5): Good location, terrible breakfast. - Good location - close to the town centre and the ferry. The breakfast was terrible. Despite being given notice that we were vegetarian, no provision was made. Other residents were given the full Scottish breakfast - we were given beans, tomato and mushrooms for breakfast which was the full Scottish breakfast minus sausage, bacon and egg. No substitutes were supplied.
- XUEYANG (10/5): -
- William (9/5): -
- Richard (8/5): -
- Jessica (10/5): A great guesthouse - Great location, warm, good value and great service Nothing
- Isabella (4/5): Disappointed - The location Front door lock did not work properly ,the key kept turning in the lock, struggled to get in at night, next morning had to leave out the back, had to pass through the kitchen and laundry, noises from pipes when other guests used the toilet,
- llinos (10/5): Great host, lovely comfortable room and close to town centre - What a little gem , I loved the room , it was warm and cosy, the bed was very comfortable, the host Chris couldn't do enough us , we had a slight hick up with the front door,we couldn't get it to open , although he was running a restaurant that evening, he ran across to help us and in return he offered us with a free breakfast,
- Steven (8/5): -
- Nicholas (4/5): Disappointing - Quirky dexor Owner was away. Floors and most surfaces dirty - room needed a deep clean. TV didn't work. No breakfast provided even though this was included in the booking.com description
- Heather (6/5): Overnight stay - Location was great, nice decor, quite quiet at night which is great. Room was in need of a clean. Bed was clean enough however the toilet, shower and carpets were dirty.
A towel was on the shower door that had been used previously. Mirrors and light switches were grubby.
- Steven (8/5): -
- Mark (8/5): Relaxing, breakfast was great. - Nice and central.
- José Gabriel (9/5): -
- Rimassa (9/5): Friendly host, cozy cheerful room in a good location close to the bay and rail station. - The Lagganbeg Guest house was very cozy and cheerfully decorated. I loved the window seat in the twin bed room and thank you for providing the small fan. Although we didn't eat breakfast (due to ferry schedule), the dining room looked warm and inviting and our host offered to cook breakfast for us. Bathroom shower might need a little update and deep cleaning.
- James (9/5): - The location, the accommodation is very quirky,we enjoyed our 2 night stay and Chris was very nice. N/A
- Christine Margaret (8/5): Pleasant stay - Breakfast was good🙂 Chris the Manager was a very nice, pleasant and helpful young man.
- Janet (9/5): Nice place for overnight visit to Oban ! - Location was perfect walking around the picturesque town. Parking was close by.
Luggage racks in rooms. Enduite bathrooms. Interesting decor Nice host met us and cooked breakfast. Rooms are on small side. No lift to upper floors.
- shelly (7/5): - Bed was comfy, breakfast was good, place was decorated really cool, staff were helpful and nice not good stairs
- Jock (10/5): - Very comfortable room and great breakfast
- Alexander (5/5): -
- Gilbert (8/5): Great Location not from far from town centre oban is stunning too. - The free breakfast. Staff wer really friendly and helpful. The shower size am really tall! 😂 😂
- Chris (3/5): -
- Candi (7/5): - Location was within walking distance to waterfront, shops and restaurants. The decor was fun and unique. Bathroom needs updating
- Dorian (10/5): - Nice breakfast, clean and tidy. All good
- Randy (9/5): Overall it was really nice, and can’t say enough about Chris, he was great! - Well located, Chris was exceptional, very good breakfast. Very small rooms, not as clean as we prefer.
- Mike (8/5): Chris the guy who checked us in and did breakfast was really good - Good locations Parking not available outside of the guest house how ever there is a car park 50 yards away free after 6pm until 9am so not to bad
- Harold (8/5): - Older property with small but very nice room, had everything we needed. The location is very convenient for walking around Oban town center. Our host was very friendly and cooked is a very tasty breakfast. There is no specified parking for the guest house, but we were able to park on the street close by. The fee was reasonable and free after 6pm.
- Fiona (5/5): A bit disappointing - Host was friendly and helpful.
The ‘free’ breakfast was ok. It was offered free outside of room booking price. Decor inside needs a bit of care and attention, some areas seem unfinished and theres a lot going on.
Front garden is messy and unloved.
Property is pretty dusty and bathrooms needed a little extra attention such as grime around plug holes.
However, we didn’t complain, just won’t be back.
- David (8/5): Good stay - Host surprised us with a nice free breakfast Room on a lower level would have been better
- Hanna (9/5): -
- Sue (2/5): Disappointing. The photos were misleading - The person looking after the b and b was very pleasant and working under difficult circumstances. The room was quite small. Nowhere to sit except the bed. Everything looked very ‘tired’ and could have done with a thorough deep clean
- Carme (9/5): - El personal encantador.
- Denise (10/5): -
- Poul-Erik (9/5): -
- Euan (6/5): Budget B&B for Oban - The accommodation had availability and reasonable pricing for Oban in mid summer. It had central location, though it was on busy main road. Beds were comfortable and clean , and there was tea and coffee in room. Private bathroom, with TV and Sky. Contact telephone with host representative who was often busy elsewhere. A cooked breakfast was available when ordered. The decoration was unusual with original plastered ceilings, dark hall, with many different styles throughout. Old fashioned and tired! Breakfast was not the usual free-flowing self serve buffet type. Drinks limited to one mug ( instant coffee). Though spoons on table, no cereal available. Felt it was restricted in generosity.
- Margherita (7/5): -
- eros (6/5): - The position Poor Breakfast an cleanibg could be improved. Decaying structure
- Lesley (9/5): Nice and central - Lovely place for a weekend, clean and comfortable, would recommend.
- Gerry (9/5): - Having the desktop fan was a great help. It was unusually hot when we were in Oban. Brilliant.
The team on hand were so helpful and polite.
- Pamela (7/5): Great location! - The location is a 10. Line(SPELLING) Is an extremely hard worker who is very helpful. We had one of our best dinner's in Oban at The Loren. Highly recommend it. He came every morning to cook breakfast. Usually it was eggs, bacon(ham), beans, and mushrooms. Coffee or tea was also offered along with water. It was difficult to get the right water temperature. It definitely needed some work. I encourage the owners to fix that.
- Heidi (10/5): The hospitality was over and above - Chris was exceptionally accommodating to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Just the stairs but Chris assisted with that too.
- ines (8/5): -
- Andreas (10/5): - Great location and a very friendly host
- Christian (9/5): - Tutto
- Lorraine (8/5): Centrally located period property. - Centrally located period property with good bed and although compact, OK bathroom. The bonus breakfast was great. Perhaps too many ornaments.
- Jessie (10/5): Amazing - The staff was great, he showed us to our room, was very friendly and cooked us a delicious hot breaky.
Comfortable and clean room!
- Gisbert (2/5): - Lage Dreckig ungepflegt sehr eng
- Nathalie (9/5): -
- Julie (4/5): Wouldn't return or recommend this B&B - The position. The one staff member helped us use the TV. Cooked breakfast was offered and my husband ate his. My poached egg was cold and watery From the outside this B&B was neglected looking and off-putting. Inside there was a shabby appearance though looking at our room I would say there is probably daily cleaning but the edges , hinges etc needed a deep clean, there was peeling wallpaper and renovation needed. Breakfast was chaotic. The staff didn't tell us where the fruit juice was and I had to ask for butter and only saw the jam when leaving. No fruit was offered or cereals
- patrick (6/5): Gewoon goed - De ligging Gastheer was niet zo vriendelijk, ontbijt enkel het nodige, netheid kon beter
- Virginia (9/5): - The breakfast was great. Chris was excellent host. Nice n homely
- Norling (8/5): -
- Christophe (10/5): Petit déjeuner copieux, chambre agréable - L’emplacement, le confort
- Margot (5/5): - The location Very small room, delays in service of breakfast
- Kristýna (8/5): -
- Pauline (6/5): - Helpful host Lack of cleanliness. Facilities were outdated. Glasses and cutlery were greasy
- Craig (9/5): - Very clean,a really nice bloke and a surprise breakfast,great location.A great stay ! Nothing
- Birgit (7/5): -
- sheila (8/5): -
- Henri (4/5): -
- Michel (8/5): - Excellent emplacement, confort correct
- Kevin (7/5): -
- Funghing (7/5): -
- Japke (7/5): Staff friendly, interior design flamboyant, breakfast unimpressive - We liked the location and the flamboyant style of interior decorating. The beds were comfortable. We had trouble operating the shower, with the switch in the bedroom, and then we couldn't turn the shower off with the on/off button on the device itself. Tourists need instructions with this typically British device!!!
Also the lovely young man who as he told us is also the manager of the Chinese Restaurant around the corner seemed rather overworked. He was perfectly friendly and hospitable, but he had to divide his attention between the two places and was dashing back and forth both when we checked in and the next morning for breatfast.
Finally, British/Scottish food (especially breakfast) just isn't up to the standards of many other countries, unfortunately.
