Guest Reviews
- Tim (6/5): - Clean, but run down.
- Alan (8/5): - It was fine.
- Sarah (6/5): - The girl laughed at me when I asked if there's an elevator. Just had a few surgeries and taking several steps is not easy for me.
The phone didn't work in the room to call her to ask what the Wi-Fi password was. the bathroom sink smell like sewer coming out of it. they need to put something down the drain and there was sewer flies lying around it. Mirrors were splashed up and not clean, gross looking. The mattress was very comfortable.
- Allan (8/5): - Room was spacious and clean but there was a distinct cigarette smell. Kitchen was adequate and there a few utensils, as well as dish soap, but nothing to clean or dry them with other than bath washcloths and bath towels. The bed was very comfortable. The property is adjacent to Hy 41 and close to a railroad track so there will be noise, especially if a train goes by (whistle for the intersection).
- Patricia (10/5): - Room was clean, a fair size and equipped ok. For the price I was impressed
- Cheryl (8/5): - Sheets, pillow cases stained. Exhaust fan in bathroom not usable-made a loud screeching noise when turned on.
- Sydney (8/5): - The room was clean and quiet. We had a great stay overall.
- Patricia (4/5): - The room was clean and comfortable, no issues there. This motel advertised "waterfront views", showed a photo of a small marina. That marina was about 6 blocks away, you could not see the lake from this motel. The nice patio for a picnic was a broken picnic table and a small charcoal grill. We had a highway right in front with railroad tracks running behind the highway, train whistle blast at 5:30 a.m. was not appreciated. I do not blame Expedia for this but, I am curious as to how Expedia could have helped us with this false advertisement and disappointment with this motel.
- Earl (6/5): - Pros: price was good for just needing a place to rest for a night. Front desk was friendly but he did not know much English. Room was easy to find. Had basic amenities like shampoo and soap and ice down the hall.
Cons: Lobby and room smelled terrible. Window unit for A/C. Shower curtain was gross and needed to be replaced. Water temp/pressure could have been better but wouldn’t have been a deal breaker if it had felt cleaner.
- Kris (6/5): - Room smells of smoke.
- Jean (2/5): - The rooms were very very dirty. Mold on the shower curtain. Beds are old very uncomfortable. The drains smelled terrible… made you want to throw up. The town needs an upgrade on hotels!
The town is a beautiful place to visit.
- greg (10/5): - Clean...super quiet..easy in easy out food in walking distance..I've stayed several times. Its my go to stop when im in tbe area
- Bharath (10/5): - Decent stay
- Trisha (6/5): - It was a room. Clean but nothing to go on about. Attendant was nice
- Kelly (6/5): Nice place horrible service. - Check in person unable to speak English, just pointed to signs in the wall gave me key and walked away. Did not sign I any forms or receive any information.
- Leeah (6/5): - 179.00 is a little much for this property, but I had no choice. Everything was booked in the surrounding areas. And the smell when you first walk in to check is an overbearing. Lucky the room didn’t smell like that
- Kelly (6/5): - The hotel needs updating but for the price we paid it was fine. Room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Since it's on the highway we could hear traffic all night along with trains blowing their whistles.
- Ted (10/5): - Decent price, clean and convenient. The staff was friendly and helpful. Would stay there again.
- Brandon (2/5): - Check in was an utter nightmare. I had paid via expedia and even shown the staff the credit card charge, he was rude and disrespectful demanding payment. I stated that i was going to call expedia to sort out the issue which continued to irritate him and he acted as if i was not within my right to ensure that i didnt pay twice for a reservation . I called expedia and got the issue sorted out and the front desk manager continued to treat me with disrespect and rudeness as if i was a nuisance to be at this hotel. The rooms were not what i was expecting. They were old and janky. Walls painted and apots on the ceiling as if no care was taken. The wifi aignal was very low. The temperature of the room was either freezing or roasting, no in between. After staying two nights, we regretted our decision to stay at this hotel and wished we would have slept in our vehical. We were even locked out of our room at 9 am on check out day. Checl out time is at 11am. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and tell others to avoid it and stay elsewhere. For the price, there are certain expectations that you expect, ive stayed in nicer motel 6 than his hotel. There is even a random toilet on their property just sitting there. The beds were very uncomfortable additionally. Next time we will be staying at the casino which is not only cheaper but much more updated and had much more respectful staff.
- Geraldine (8/5): - Just off Hwy 2, convenient parking, gas & fast food. Clean, Bed comfortable, just the bare necessities, water, juice & coffee in lobby.
- Robert (10/5): - For a cheaper hotel, it was very nice. A little out dated but comfortable. 10 minute walk to a huge beach was a great perk.
- Robert (10/5): - The only thing I noticed was the view wasn’t great.
- Tracy (6/5): - It was okay. Good place to sleep and shower. The double room beds are small. Two adults could not fit in one bed. The WiFi was spotty. The tv repeatedly searched for service.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Good beds. Good stay. Good value. Excellent staff
- Christopher (8/5): - Check in check out fast . However they said Expedia would send me a receipt . I expected for them to print me one . Nope
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Thin blankets, even thinner toilet paper, holes in window screens, broken hair dryer.
- Marcia (10/5): - Room was clean and comfortable . Basic hotel . Steps were carpeted and needed cleaning . ( hard area to keep clean .)
- Wayne (6/5): - Property could use some upgrading.
- Gregory (10/5): - Yes itbis an older motel but it is kep clean and in good condition.
3 fast food locations adjacent to the parking lot
- Tracy (10/5): - Close to Gladstone lakefront, food options within walking distance. Quiet. Beds are a bit high up so if you are short and handicapped it’s a bit of a struggle getting up into bed. Staff is friendly and helpful
- Cora (10/5): - Clean with great amenities, easy and close to the freeway
- Melissa (6/5): - The environment was very quiet, the room was clean and quite spacious.
- TAMMY (10/5): - Nice, spacious, comfortable and clean. Everything you need. We just stopped for a night on our travels but check in was super easy and the room exceeded expectations. Don't let the motel vibe scare you away (unless you are looking for room service). The room temperature was comfortable when we got there which is unusual. Super cozy, I would stay here again
- Sara (8/5): - The hotel was great and convenient for where I needed to go, but the only downside was that therl trains passing through would blare their horns in the early morning making it hard to sleep in and relax.
- Mike (10/5): - It was very clean. A little dated but clean. Continental breakfast needs some work. Value was great. The pictures under property description makes you think its on the water with docks. Its not on the water, your blocks away from the bay. A little misleading. The staff were very nice and accommodating. I would stay again.
.
- Tollie (6/5): - It was not bad for one night but I wouldn’t want to stay a week. The bed was comfortable and water was hot. I think if I was visiting that area in he future I would find other accommodation.
- William (8/5): - Great little motel with clean room and awesome bed! Quick check in and good staff. Coffee needs work.
- Jessica (10/5): - Beautiful and spacious, didn't like that our King suite didn't have a hot plate or griddle to cook on
- Kasey (2/5): - walls were very dirty, tub clearly was not cleaned, toiletries had been used
- sandi (6/5): - Room was hot and noisy and had a bad smell along with bed covers were not very clean
- James (10/5): - It was conveniently accessible to the event that I did. The staff was very helpful
- Laura (6/5): - Listen, this is just a you-get-what-you-pay for property. It definitely smells a little stale and the AC was really poor- would NOT stay here if it was any hotter out (we stayed beginning of June for 1 night). Other than that, check in was fast, bed was fine, etc. If you are pressed on budget and are just looking for 1 night, this place is fine.
- Diana (8/5): Nice hotel for an overnight stay. - The check in was good. Guy was very friendly. Room was clean, nice bathroom, tv worked well, and air conditioning was new.
Noisy highway and there wasn't anything for breakfast except water and juice.
All in all we would probably stay there again because the cost was very economical.
- Dawn (10/5): - Perfect for our stay!
- Glenn D (8/5): - Price was reasonable
- Aaron (10/5): Excellent Stay at a Great Price - Stayed here for a weekend and the room was excellent at a great price. Spacious and clean. Excellent TV, check in check out was simple. You have two gas stations and a Mcdonalds and Subway right there. It was exactly what I needed, I was pleasantly surprised!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean, friendly. Could be efit from couple tweaks - If all you want is a clean bed and all you plan to do in your room is sleep, this facility will do the job. The staff is friendly, check in and check out are simple and painless, rooms are clean.
Although the room was spacious, there was no comfy chair or nook to sit in and read to relax before going to bed. There was a desk and one office chair, which is clearly not enough seating for two people.
Website mentioned a breakfast. When we checked in, we found that was no longer true. All it would take is a simple change to their website so expectations more closely match what's on offer.
- Richard (10/5): - Great experience, check in was fast. Our room was nice and spacious and clean! We could not hear others next to us and the inn seemed full. Many fast food options within a 2 minutes walk from the inn. The whole experience was great especially considering the cost of the room which was definitely lower than average.
- Monique (8/5): - Was a good value for what we needed!
- Rebecca Lynn (6/5): - Older motel. Decor was very out dated. Beds were comfortable. Room was clean.
- John (10/5): - Very clean room
- Cindy (4/5): - Old and run down. Many trip hazards, all door entrances.
- William (10/5): - fast check in. Clean room
- Mark (10/5): - Quick and easy check in process. Dog friendly. Quiet. Comfortable bed. Air conditioner worked well.
- Steven (8/5): - Motorcycle trip. Wanted to be close to the beach.
- benjamin v (10/5): - Gentleman at the desk was polite and efdicient. Room was as expected, ckean and simple. I slept well
- Joseph (8/5): - This hotel was conveniently located about halfway between our home in West Michigan and St.Paul/Minneapolis. We found Gladstone to be a pleasant little town to explore and caught the sunset down by the lighthouse pier. Good choice of restaurants, too.
The hotel itself was fine. We slept well. The bathroom was clean.
Don't however count on the coffee provided in room. Very bitter and the packet of creamer broke in hard pieces when opened. Thank goodness for the McDonalds practically next door.
Also someone needs to do a little window washing. The front side door was completely smudged and dirty. Poor first impression. Also there was a good sized hole in the window screen in the room that should be fixed. All in all though, the stay was good for the price.
- Theresa (10/5): - Friendly and nicely cleaned rooms in an easy to find location.
- Roberto (10/5): - The establishment itself was well maintained. Location was great too for what we needed, excrete that its close to the rail line and train horns woke us up twice in the night
- Therese Marie (10/5): - I like everything about Lakeside Motor Inn. The staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean and neat. I always stay here if a room is available when I am going through the Gladstone/Escanaba area.
- Tonya (8/5): - Very quiet, clean and very kind staff. I’ll definitely stay again!
- Mark (4/5): - Not good
- Suzanne (8/5): - Right on our route. Walking distance to fast food option. Close to the water. Good price.
- Dolores (8/5): - Rooms were very clean.
Tub was very dangerous. It was extremely slippery. The shower curtain was 3 feet too long. The tub wall was 3 feet deep. So To step in or out was dangerous. There are not any grab bars. Toilet paper seemed to be rationed so I bought my own to supplement.
But for the money, it was sufficient. The other person staying with me went to a friends house to shower since she could not safely step in or out of the tub.
- sara (10/5): - Was quiet, clean and friendly
- THOMAS (8/5): - Clean room, but older hotel that looks in need of some updates. Our room faced the highway so traffic noise was reality. No hairdryer. But for the price Memorial Day weekend, good value for just an overnight stay.
- Denise (8/5): - The bed was very high off the floor. The bed covers was very warm like polar-tex blanket . Most hotels have thin bed cover and sheet covering them. The bed must of had plastic cover. We were both hot all night.
- Kelly (8/5): - Property is very dated, with few outlets to plug in devices. For the price, it was fine, but don’t expect too much.
- Debbie (10/5): Visiting the U.P. - My kids and grandkids live in Gladstone so we started staying there. At first thougjt prices were a little high. But now good prices. Friendly people very kind. Always gives us the same room love it. Nice place to stay
- Jeff (8/5): - Easy access, close to the bay
- Micah (10/5): Great stay! - Nice sized room, comfortable and clean. Microwave and fridge were convenient. Great location!
- Jedrzejewski (2/5): - The lobby is used for construction material storage. Dirty window, fridge...
- John (10/5): - Being next to a major highway, there is some traffic noise.
- mark (10/5): - always a nice conveniant place to stay
- Darlene (10/5): - The room was very clean and comfortable. I was in a suite that was perfect for my stay. Bed was comfortable.
- WENDEE (10/5): - Great people that run this hotel. Always stay here when I visit from Grand Rapids.
- Therese Marie (10/5): - I look for a motel that has a friendly, helpful staff and is clean and safe. The Lakeside Motor Inn has everything I need. As for property, I can walk to a few eateries without going into traffic. The location is excellent.
- Denise (10/5): - This is a nice place to stay. The owners are nice and the rooms have always been clean.
- Richard (8/5): - The property was okay,
- Susan (10/5): - Nice motel, great price, very helpful staff
- Ronald (6/5): - I already said the specifics but it was lost. Suffice to say, the toilet was broken and did not flush properly!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Just ok. Bed was extremely noisy but yet comfortable.
Whole place could use an update.
- Mike (8/5): - Very basic. Nice size room.
- Jayne (8/5): - easy to find, fast food options nearby. room was very clean but sinks in room a bit slow
- Steve (10/5): - Perfect for what we needed, if we are ever up this way again, we would stay here
- Paul (8/5): - Outdated
- Robert (8/5): - Clean room, good value for a quick, overnight stay.
- Todd (8/5): - This property was exactly what I wanted. A clean, quiet, reasonably priced, dog friendly room for one night. The parking lot was spacious & had plenty of room for a boat & trailer. 2 gas stations, McDonalds, Subway, & Dominoes next door. Nice area to walk my dog and caught an amazing sunrise over the bay before continue on our trip. Good value for the traveler.
- Laura (10/5): - Great for a quick overnight stay. Comfy beds and great towels.
- Kathy (6/5): - Ok needs some updates
- Marion (2/5): - Eine unmögliche Unterkunft zu einem unverschämten Preis. Wir können es nicht annähernd empfehlen.
- Tracy (8/5): - I forgot to request a 1st floor room for my elderly mother. They were kind enough to move us into ground floor, handicap accessible room.
- Michael (6/5): - Arriving at the Moyer parking lot we noticed a broken window screen that could have easily been replaced. Also upon entering the lobby the carpet mat was curled up and worn giving more negative impressions. Upon registering we asked to see the room, found the air conditioner wasn’t working so we asked for a different room which was acceptable. We almost canceled but we’re tired and didn’t want to try to find a different motel. This whole experience could have been more enjoyable if the owners of the motel would make an effort to give a good first impression .
- greg (10/5): - Have stayed here several times ,very enjoyable every time
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall the property and rooms are fine, but certain things could use updating. For example the towels, they are very old, covered in stains and worn out.
- David (8/5): - Comfortable bed, clean room, & close to lakeshore drive.
- robert (6/5): - Pending what side your on,way to much highway noise
- Mark (10/5): - For an independent motel this is one great place to stay....very clean...quiet .....3 fast food restaurants. The rooms are cleaned daily, with clean towelsbeds made some of the larger chains could take lessons from this hotel,I will be back
- Cristian (10/5): - Remodeled property
- Denise (8/5): - This was our second year staying here. It's clean, the staff is friendly and it's a good location.
