Guest Reviews
- Susan (10/5): - Fabulous location overlooking the harbour. Interesting historic building. Very quiet although centrally located. Lots of steps.
Isola magica
- Daniël (10/5): Spectacular - The people and the location are spectacular
- Matthew (10/5): - Breathtaking views and exceptional rooms. Perfect for a special occasion.
- Annette (10/5): -
- Barbara (10/5): We had a magical weekend at Hydrea Exclusive Hospitality. - Beautiful historic atmosphere. Felt like we were transported back to another time. Nothing - it was lovely
- Gigi (4/5): No value for money - Harbour views from windows No assistance with luggage on arrival, basic room renovation, limited breakfast options, very overpriced accomodation
- Stephan (10/5): unbedingt empfehlenswert - wunderbar restauriertes Boutique Hotel.
- Adriaan (10/5): Finding rest within the peace and quietness of the beautiful island Hydra. - Lovely staff and excellent breakfast! No complaints at all!
- Lukáš (10/5): -
- Dominique (10/5): -
- shoshana kitchen (10/5): - Everything was excellent from start to finish. Fabulous breakfast included which set us up for the day X Pillows need to be updated on the beds. Not comfy enough - ( I am a Global pillow rater and it makes all the difference to a great night’s sleep 😴 !! ) xx
- James (10/5): Ideally situated at the end of town and a comfortable stay with elegance. - Really enjoyed my stay here. And I did have an absolutely fabulous room with its expansive terrace overlooking the sea and marina. So special. My one suggestion is that the bed mattress possibly be replaced with one that is newer/more comfy. In general, I loved all that the hotel has to offer... including an easy walk to the Spilia restaurant where there are rocks and a ladder from which one can slip down into the sea. I did this as a nice morning swim. Lovely. I wish that the hotel had some more options for an aperratif and snacks in the early evening. This would be a nice offering.
- Ross (10/5): Brilliant hotel in a fantastic location. - Fantastic location, brilliant balcony overlooking the harbour and the super yachts, awesome breakfasts. Staff were very friendly and professional. Porter to collect our cases from the ferry and for the return was a bonus. Nothing
- PAMELA (10/5): -
- Costanza (10/5): It was fantastic! Thank you!! - Kalista was kind and lovely, and very helpful. The service was great. Bed super comfortable and the hotel is very clean. Maybe breakfast.
- Eran (10/5): - Amazing Stay at Hydrea Hotel
Hydrea Hotel is a stunning, high-end property right on the port of Hydra. The view from the terrace is incredible, overlooking the harbor and town. The location is unbeatable—you’re just steps from all the restaurants and shops.
The architecture is beautiful, the place is spotless, and the atmosphere is both luxurious and welcoming. The hostess and staff were wonderful, attentive, and professional.
Everything about this place was perfect. Highly recommended!
Eveperfect. Highly recommended!
- Caroline (7/5): Good - Location and view from the terrace were amazing. Bed and pillows weren’t comfortable.
- William (9/5): Superb -
- Rosa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Goodman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Wonderful place - one of the best - Everything really - very quiet ( adults only) so no screaming children. Try and get the room with the veranda - an incredible view of the harbour. The staff are lovely Kallisti is the person that runs the place. The breakfasts were lovely on the main terrace To be picky. Would have like a coffee machine in the room and perhaps a couple of bowls for nuts etc
- Teresa (10/5): We would definitely stay here again - We booked the room with the balcony which was pricey but worth it. The view of the harbor and city were awesome. The breakfast was exceptional. Kallisti the hostess is absolutely wonderful and very attentive. The hotel If you decide to stay here there are several steps to main floor.
- Ivan (9/5): Very beautiful hotel in the heart of beautiful Hydra with a perfect view - Place, view, interior, overall hospitality. A very delicious breakfast on a beautiful terrace. Minor things: the general dimmer for light wasn't working (but secondary near the bed was ok). Hydra massage in the bath wasn't working.
- Stewart (5/5): Not a five star hotel - The Breakfast was good There was absolutely no service provided.
Never asked would you like anything apart from Breakfast
- Neil (10/5): Relaxing visit supported by wonderful staff - Fabulous and elegant historic building in a perfect location. We loved the place.
- Charlotte (10/5): Lovely experience and I would recommend. - Beautiful historical building. Wonderfully staffed, at your service. Great location. So many steps.
- Angelo (8/5): Very good -
- Jameel (9/5): Great all around - Large rooms, very attentive staff, great breakfast A bit expensive
- Fenia (9/5): Superb -
- Ulrike (9/5): Great central location with stunning views over the harbour. - Our terrace overlooking the harbor was stunning. Even so it was very hot, we decided to take our breakfast on the main terrace outside. We loved the choices. The location is the best in Hydra if staying in town and we haven't been disturbed at all by the noises of the in-and outgoing boats. Nothing really.
- Leonardo (8/5): Very good - The building is beautiful The room was too small and overpriced
- Cagri (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kon (9/5): Superb -
- Claudiu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tereza (8/5): Great stay in Hydra with amazing views and best location - Excellent location, great views, beautiful decorations.
Staff was very nice and helpful! The fact that the terrace apartment does not actually have a private terrace and thought it was a bit misleading.
The fact that there are no drinks or bar service in the actual common terrace that has great views.
Breakfast was not the best given the five star location.
- Dana (9/5): Romantic stay at Hydrea Hotel - The location was perfect, beautiful view and very quiet.
The staff was kind and generous
Breakfast was delicious There was no kettle in the room for tea and coffee
- Kareen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Celine (9/5): We loved our stay in this historical place. - Beautiful historical building. Very friendly staff. There is no food room service. There is no Gym facilty in the hotel.
- Charry (3/5): Poor -
- Joane (10/5): A PERFECT MEMORY. - THE PROPERTY WAS NOT INEXPENSIVE, A SPLURGE ESCAPE, BUT IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT IN ANY WAY! THE MANAGER WAS FANTASTIC, THE LOCATION WAS IDEAL AND THE SETTING PERFECT. WE WOULD DEFINITELY RETURN. NOTHING.
- Chad (10/5): - The manager on site (Mike) was extremely friendly and helpful. We had the corner suite with the balcony overlooking the port, and almost wanted to stay out their the entire time, but were very glad we ventured out and took Mike's recommendations for dinner and daily walks. Amazing location, very comfortable, and did I mention the balcony? Feels like we know one of the best rooms in all of Greece. The whole hotel has a unique beauty and charm, and the smell of fresh-baking bread in the mornings... I miss it already.
- Battist (9/5): Wonderful location, friendly helpful staff that went above and beyond - Wonderful old mansion. Great feeling of history. The bed was very very comfortable and the Staff was fabulous There was nothing i did not like
- Kim (8/5): Very good - The hotel was stunning and it would have been a 10/10 BUT the peep holes in the ceilings above all the showers and the baths were seriously creepy. We booked 3 rooms for our family and all three rooms had a creepy peep hole in the ceiling. Not cool! The peep holes in the ceilings above the showers and the baths. WE booked 3 rooms for our family and every bathroom had a hole drilled into the ceiling directly above every shower and bathtub. Not cool!
- Bogdan (10/5): The property it is magnificent. Michael was an excellent host. - The property it is magnificent.
Michael was an excellent host.
- Jo (10/5): Serene surroundings, perfect location, amazing host - This would have to be the best accommodation in Hydrea.
The location is incredible with views over the town, harbour and sea
Our room was spacious with an extremely comfortable bed and windows that actually open!
Each morning we were given a different breakfast menu from which to select.- the food was delicious 😋
The host- Michael was 11/10. He was so dedicated to ensuring that our stay was happy and easy and enjoyable. Nothing was too hard for him. If only every hotel had such a superb host. Would have liked a kettle and tea bags in our room so we could have a cup of tea upon waking in the morning.
Also suggest a larger, more powerful, hairdryer. The cheap small one seemed at odds with such an exclusive property.
- Ahmed (10/5): Exceptional - The hotel is clean and elegant - the best view on the island - the hotel staff is highly qualified - friendly - helped us book restaurants and transportation as well - I highly recommend it nothing
- Georgina (10/5): This property embodies everything Hydra represents. Relaxed and luxurious, authentic and fabulous. The Master suite has - The location, the style and the staff were all exceptional There’s nothing not to love. Important to note this is more like staying in a beautiful home rather than a hotel. So there’s no bar so to speak but drinks are available to have on the terrace up to a certain hour.
- Nada (9/5): Superb -
- Tracy (10/5): Exceptional - Fantastic location overlooking the small picturesque harbor. Short walk to everything including shops, restaurants, water taxis and sites. Friendly/ attentive staff, very clean and well appointed facilities. Beautiful terrace, with umbrellas, couches/chairs for coffee, breakfast or just relaxing. Historic building with character. I was traveling with an 80 year old and there are approximately 20-30 steps to reach facility. However, Michael, the manager, was more than happy to operate ‘the lift’ at any time!
- Christine (10/5): Going back in time in Hydra - Location is so central - we were at a wedding at Sunset so literally on the door. Very charming historical feel that was quite special. Breakfast but more a brunch was exceptional with capital E. Menu was so extensive but changed specials daily and you could order whatever you wanted and possible to eat outside on comfortable terrace. This outdoor terrace is exclusive for hotel guests and that is important to know as has really comfy white sofas to lounge. To get into the property there is a flight of 30 guesstimate stairs. There is a stair flight. Also very keen guys who meet you at the ferry/yacht and take all your bags from you and they then appear magically in your room so not really an issue but useful to point out.
- Eileen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dimitrios (9/5): Superb -
- Dominique (10/5): Exceptional - We had a wonderful stay in this very nice Hotel on the magic island of Hydra - hope to come back.
- Foteini (10/5): would definitely stay there again - perfect location, breakfast, staff, best veranda in Hydra, privacy poor wifi, mattress was not of our preference
- Donna (9/5): would return in a heartbeat - Fantastic location, wonderful second story outdoor patio with terrific view of the harbor and town. Easy walking distance to many interesting shops, cafes and fine restaurants. The hotels history is fascinating and the preservation beautifully done and maintained. Delicious Greek breakfast each morning. Management and staff were extraordinary We didn’t mind it but the staircase up to the hotel facilities and rooms are quite steep and there are many— difficult if carrying heavy things or if someone has walking issues. Thankfully the hotel provides transferring of suitcases etc to and from rooms and to the other side of the harbor where the ferry docks.
- Ahmad (10/5): Exceptional -
- Patrick (10/5): Exceptional -
- William (7/5): Good - Great hotel. You are however paying (alot) for the location and the brilliant terrace overlooking the harbour which is a great place to watch the boats come and go. The staff were lovely and breakfasts delicious.
- Ursula (10/5): We were amazed by the administration and the excelente care of Ariadni. Couldn’t be better. - it is an old mansion in Hydra very well preserved and with the greatest view that you can imagine. it’s awesome. Nothing. Everything was great.
- Nikos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kon (8/5): Very good -
- Nikos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (6/5): Great view but dated and hugely overpriced - A nice hotel in a perfect location but lacking attention to detail and badly needing investment. For a 4 star ‘Exclusive’ ‘luxury’ ‘boutique’ hotel all sorts of things need attending to: 2 umbrellas on the terrace for the whole hotel - come to breakfast late and you need to sit in blazing sun. No tea making, bin, mirror in room. Tiny wardrobe with a handful of hangers. No place to put bags. Certainly ‘luxury’ extras perhaps expected for €350 or more a night were not present. Maintenance poor - shower / bath tap jammed and despite maintenance visit never worked thecwhole stay plug not working, bulbs not working, light falling off wall. Furnishings strange, not taking reference to the beautiful historic building, and rather dated. Ancient tiny TV. Clear that investment has been totally absent for years.
Staff helpful and enthusiastic but rather hit and miss in efficiency.
Maximum of only one staff member seemingly present outside breakfast and no hint of any sort if exclusive or luxury hospitality.
For pretty much the most expensive hotel in town a real disappointment. A recent stay in the Leto was equally good and a third of the price. Ridiculous cost left a bitter taste and unfulfilled expectations after an otherwise lovely stay on the island. Very mediocre.
- Maria (10/5): - A beautiful hotel in an excellent location. This is a restored mansion from the 1800s. The staff was very gracious and helpful. We enjoyed our stay immensely.
- Gena (10/5): Great location and great service - Located right on the port but to one side away from the hustle and bustle of the main area. Our room was spacious and with a harbour view. Breakfast is served on a terrace overlooking the water and staff are extremely attentive.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is a beautiful old home. The manager Thanos is amazing. He is so welcoming and helpful with any requests. The breakfast is cooked to order and delicious. The staff can’t be beat. The location is also a perfect launch point for anything you want to do in the old town area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice breakfast, handmaded and rich.beautiful property
They gave us another room outsited in a nearby location. A nice room, but not the one that I've choose.
- Neil (10/5): Amazing hotel on an amazing island - Just an amazing stay! Beautiful common areas and rooms. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and pleasant. Breakfast was the best ever and enjoyed on the balcony overlooking the water. Couldn't improve on one thing.....everything was perfect.
- Superdeluxe (10/5): Your own decadent Hydra home - This is a lovingly restored powerful merchant’s house from 1803 overlooking the port and the main town. They’ve done it in a style that is at once grand and contemporary shabby chic. Great details, elegant, but comfortable.
They only have eight rooms, so it felt like my own decadent Hydra home. The great vibe is reinforced by the staff, not least by the manager, Thanos, who radiates charm and conviviality.
Breakfast is a delightful, authentic experience. You feel every minute that you are in Greece, and in a world of sameness and international standard fare, this is really welcome.
