- charles (10/5): - Everything No microwave
- Edward (10/5): -
- Kinn (10/5): Amazing! It was a beautiful motel for so cheap and the pool really is its own attraction - The beautiful purple of the outside and the pool! I’d say maybe the rooms are a bit tight but it wasn’t an issue really

- Suzanne (8/5): This is a very cute motel with a convenient location - The motel was extremely clean. they were kind to stock with plenty of water, coffee. They supplied white noise machine. The bed was very comfortable. Wall were a bit thin so could hear neighbors. And location is a bit noisy.
- Stephanie (10/5): Will definitely be back! - I enjoyed that it was quiet, clean and that it had gated lot. It was close to places to eat and not far to travel to where we wanted to go.
- Debbie (8/5): An affordable place centrally located making it an easy drive or uber ride to most attractions. - I was pleasantly surprised by the nice updates done to this older motel. Parking and hotel entry were secured providing peace of mind on a busy street in a mostly commercial block. Mid-town bars and eateries are nearby; some within walking distance. Carrollton street car line would be accessible via a short walk. The pool area was very nice with seating and floats for use. Room had amenities including toiletries, hair dryer, mini fridge and coffee/coffeemaker. The bathroom walls need a little more attention when being cleaned, but overall the facilities were extremely clean.
- Theoret (5/5): Ok - Clean room easy check in. Thank goodness for the gate It was too much money at a down time of year for that location
- Kevin (9/5): -
- Natalie (9/5): - Everything was great! Location
- Edwards (7/5): -
- Shannon (8/5): -
- Carla (10/5): It felt like college but grownup - I didn't like I LOVE this property. It was just what I needed. I did have an upstairs and requested a bottom.
- Olivia (9/5): -
- Holly (6/5): - I really liked that the parking is gated. Felt very secure. Pool is also very nice! The floors were pretty dirty in our room.
- Melissa (7/5): - Room was nice, bed was comfy, wish I had been able to stay longer and enjoy the beautiful pool. Gated parking was secure. Close to food and entertainment Room could’ve been a little cleaner… specifically the floors. I walked around in socks and they were filthy when I took them off.
- Olweny (9/5): -
- Ashanti (7/5): Super cute motel! - Super cute motel! Great location for a good price. Will get a room here again in the future. The room was clean. There were some scuffs on the walll The parking lot! It’s very tight, I couldn’t imagine the parking lot being full, it would be a nightmare to get out. If you have a large vehicle you can forget parking in the lot.
- allen (10/5): -
- G. Brown (8/5): Convenient Spot in Midtown - Gated parking and clean room. No microwave and small room.
- Taylor (7/5): Not bad by any means, but I wouldn’t stay there again. - Very clean property and easy check in. The location is dangerous, the toilet doesn’t flush well, and the walls are so thin it’s hard to sleep you can hear everything.
- Martinez (10/5): -
- Jessie (10/5): -
- Sara-Ann (10/5): It’s was the perfect place for a weekend in New Orleans and we will definitely be back! - It’s was amazing! We loved the convenience of the location to everything we were doing in New Orleans. Its theme was prominent and perfect!
- Matt (10/5): Clean, great location to Uber easily to the French Quarter, and loved the simple aesthetic! - Self check-in and check-out were incredibly easy and the gated parking was also amazing!
- Tanesha (4/5): - that I made it back home alive the no staff clogged tub and toilet
- Steven (9/5): -
- Candace (10/5): Needs better parking and the workers take up the spots - Clean I had to park on the street
- Whitman (7/5): -
- Holly (7/5): -
- Ciara (10/5): It was good cozy clean - Only thing was the bathroom door were broken Just the bathroom door was broke
- Julien (10/5): Good - Good Good
- Anderson (1/5): Weird - The riom My tub was dirty and they never sent me the code to the door and it was like some one eltz had been there when I would leave
- Julien (10/5): So good - Good Good
- Dominique (10/5): -
- Kristin (9/5): No frills, affordable, lovely spot! - The self-check in was, honestly, the greatest feature in the world! After a long day of travel, I JUST wanted a hot shower and a bed. And the check in process for most hotels seems to take forever! I was in my room and in a hot bath in 30 seconds. The parking was easy (assigned parking spots?! SCORE!) and the room was clean, cozy, and quiet. Didn’t use the pool (it was too cold/rainy) and never interacted with any staff, but the text messages assuring I had been checked in and if I needed anything satisfied any communication that was needed. Will definitely be staying here again. One small thing is that it’s not in an excellent walking location. If you have access to a car, you will be more than fine.
- Jimmy (9/5): -
- Elizabeth (10/5): For our one night stay, the room was great. A little too far from Bourbon Street but in a quiet area. - The gated property and the private parking was a big draw to your establishment
- Anna (10/5): -
- Alexa (10/5): -
- Hayley (7/5): Decent hotel with clean comfortable rooms in good condition., but not in the greatest of neighborhoods for walking. - The room was updated and very clean. The mattress was firm but comfortable. The locked gate made me feel more secure, and the pool area looked nice though I didn’t use it. They were quick to answer messages and respond to my concerns/questions and give me a quieter room upon request. My first night there it was very noisy, but that’s not too unusual for New Orleans on a holiday party weekend. First, it was music from somewhere down the street until midnight, and then there was someone yelling in the hallway at 4AM because she thought she had reserved her room, but she was wrong. While there were blinds, a lot of light came in the sides, so it was a bit bright for me for sleeping. I think that they should give out the code for the gate on the day that people are checking in so that no one can get in before their reservation day. The hotel moved my room the second night so that I had a much quieter location and I got a much better nights sleep. They also took care of my bag and moved it from one room to another for me, which was super helpful. The power went out one day, and the gate was stuck closed. A hotel guest told me he had manually opened it and it stayed open until he closed it around 11 PM. Not sure why someone from management wasn’t aware that the gate needed tending to after the power outage.
- Blane (10/5): Excellent stay and I will definately recommend - Well maintained, clean room, excellent staff, locked parking gate keyless entry entry Security
- Randall (10/5): -
- Emily (8/5): - We had a good stay. However, our shower didn’t
- Shawn (10/5): - other than a slightly noisy ac unit, great stay.
- Allyson (4/5): - Though the room itself was cute, we had several issues with our stay. It was difficult to check in because the pedestrian gate wasn't working and we were not notified of this issue until the following morning. Of the several emails I received from the Iris leading up to my stay, none of them mentioned the issue with the pedestrian gate. We were also told that we could leave our luggage in the office after we checked out on Sunday. However, when we checked out Sunday morning, there was no one in the office and we had to call a manager to resolve the issue. The staff was responsive to issues when we contacted them, but it was frustrating that there were these issues to begin with.
- Anderson (5/5): - The staff are very nosy
- Peter (8/5): - Rooms were clean and comfortable... property was clean.
- Michael (9/5): -
- Laqweshia (8/5): - The gated parking
- Lauren (10/5): -
- garcia (10/5): -
- Nicole (8/5): - Had a nice stay but room could have been cleaned better before our arriving. Very bad neighborhood though
- William (8/5): -
- Fletcher (10/5): -
- MICHELLE (4/5): - It’s in a dangerous part of town, rife with drugs sales & prostitution. When we arrived at 12am bc our flight was delayed I was shocked & scared bc it was in a sketchy part of NOLA. They would not allow us to leave & get our money back. I called Expedia. They asked them to allow us to leave & give us our money back but they refused. We heard a gun go off one night
- Devinya (10/5): NO Jazz Fest - Great motel; bare bones but clean and friend staff (there’s a pool!). They will give suggestions regarding food. Would stay again!
- Chadwick (10/5): -
- John (10/5): Quick NOLA getaway - Vibe was great. Pool was great. Gated parking lot was great. Location was great too. Convenient to downtown and City Park.
- Laura (10/5): Nice last minute stay - Nice spot. Love the parking spot. Nice and cozy and clean. Love the keyless entry and check in/out. I will definitely be back. Thanks. N/a
- johnhM2890SB (10/5): Great spot for events or group travel! - Great pool and over all vibe. I hosted a party here and I will definitely do future events here. The murals are beautiful!
- heleneb586 (10/5): Summer getaway to NOLA! - I loved this hidden gem...definitely and urban oasis and I'm so happy I found it! The staff was so helpful, and the location was convenient to every event and place I needed to go...less than a 10-minute, Uber ride. The pool was dreamy and perfect to cool off given that the temps were rising during my visit. Highly recommend...I definitely plan to return during my next visit!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice spot - It was an awesome place to stay.
- Rcbj23 (10/5): Cute and clean motel - This is such a cute motel. My friend and I love the pool. We took advantage of the tanning ledge. The room was also so clean!
- Johnson (7/5): Good - It was gated so we felt the car and stuff were secured. The crack heads that had a room at other end. First night they tried to fight a guy they had let stay there for days. The next day all they did was bum cigs off everyone else who was outside. Took the butts out of the ash trays outside and wanted to bum more.
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- Johnson (4/5): The stay was okay. - That it was close to everything that we wanted to do. the room size was very small. The room didn’t have a microwave. The smallness of the parking spaces .the cleanliness was 5/10.
- Steve (8/5): - The pool was great. The motel has been renovated and the location was perfect
- Jacob (10/5): - Lovely
- Jan (10/5): - Will stay again!
- Cheryl (8/5): - Parking is not included, unless specified. AC was a bit noisy, but did an excellent job. The guy on staff was friendly and helpful. I really appreciated him.
- Kelly (9/5): Overall Great - It was quiet. The bed itself was very comfortable. Pay close attention when booking. Not all of the rooms come with gated parking, and it is an additional expense.
Also, the pillows weren't very comfortable.
- Jeremy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dzianis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ingrid (10/5): - Noise came from a club nearby
- Noelle (10/5): - This was my second time staying at The Iris Motel and it didn’t disappoint. I love the art deco decor as well as the gated parking. We will definitely be back.
- Megan (10/5): Love this place! - Such a cute and kitschy place! Super clean, great location, really comfortable beds, excellent pool
- Cathy (6/5): - The people were amazing. The staff was excellent. The neighborhood is a little questionable, but for the most part overall it was good. The room smelt like somebody had smoked cigarettes whether it was long ago or recent and there was no closed room for the bathroom. It was open with a sliding door, no privacy truly. the pool was excellent a huge plus!!
- Charlene (4/5): Uncomfortable Sleep Due To Air Cooling Unit - It was a convenient location. The rooms are really small for two people to navigate. The air cooling unit was so loud that we could not sleep without wearing earplugs or suffering through the heat. When we complained about the noise, we were offered either a sound machine or a box fan. This led me to believe the problem was already noted and the room was rented anyway.
- J2080NJpeterp (10/5): Charming Spot - This is a hip, colorful little place with a charming pool and very accommodating staff. They let us get in and park early so we could go to Jazz Fest. It met all our needs. Bus service was a bit scarce along Tulane in the evening. Tia Maria's Kitchen served up a superb breakfast.
- Corey (10/5): - It's a nice little spot in a kind of weird area - never felt unsafe or anything like that but kind of industrial. I wish check out time was at least an hour later, but other than that no complaints!
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Loud college type /club hangout right next door.
As for transportation, the nearest trolley is about half a mile from motel on canal street so expect to walk half a mile on lots of uneven and broken sidewalks in very darkened areas at night.
The motel is adorably redone with a vintage vibe, comfortable bed and soft pillows. Loved the pool area for chilling out. They have an enclosed parking area that you feel safe since you need access code to get into the parking area as well as your room.
- Heather (6/5): - So the office staff my first day was on point! He was FANTASTIC! My stay however, first room I was given; was dirty, no big deal changed switch rooms, new room “clean room “
- Randall (10/5): - Nice room
- Inara (10/5): - I was a bit concerned about the area after reading some previous reviews, but staying in a gated hotel made us feel safe and comfortable. We spent most of our time exploring historical sites and only came back to the hotel to sleep.
The hotel was quiet and nice, with very few people around during our stay. The room was clean and had everything we needed, including a small fridge and a coffee maker. The staff were friendly and helpful, even though I only spoke with them over the phone!
- Ditte (7/5): ambivalent - Top location and friendly dedicated manager and owner. Everything newly renovated and clean and functional. Unfortunately we had very noisy and active guests above us who always came home at night and spent ages moving furniture. Maybe install insulation, carpet and furniture felts. The whole good experience was ruined by these guests.
The cleaning staff come in fours for the few rooms, talk loudly and are too lazy to open the doors again after they close automatically. So the door bolt is pushed in between, banging loudly against the frame every few seconds as they go in and out. The frame is already damaged as a result. For hours. The cleaning staff show absolutely no consideration, do not greet guests and look at them grimly.
After complaining, one night was credited because we left early due to the noise.

- Martha (8/5): - Nicely remodeled small motel and good access to the French Quarter areas by public transportation. Economical due to its location near the city but also easy access to leave the city.
- Cindy (6/5): Pleasant -
- Margaret (8/5): - Unique place- surprisingly quiet and close to midcity. Great communication with no contact check in and checkout.
- Tracy (8/5): This worked for us. We had a car and wanted to drive to visit places on that side of town. - The motel has simple, very clean, very well-kept up rooms. We did not realize that we had not paid for the locked and gated parking on site ahead of time. We paid upon arrival.
- Brian (7/5): Ended up working out. - We booked a room here because it had gated parking. Right after the booking went through, we received an email saying in bold letters that our car would be towed if we parked in the lot! I wrote them on Booking, emailed, and also texted. After an hour with no reply, I finally called, and Cindy answered the phone. She said we could park inside no problem. She also said that there might be a problem with the automated system. Once we arrived, we saw that every room is assigned one parking spot… except for room number two. Unfortunately, our email with the room code also came up blank for that value. Again, Cindy to the rescue, who gave us the room code. Also, we got a gate code for the pedestrian gate, but did not get one for the car gate. Again, Cindy helped with that. If she had not been there, it simply would not have worked out. On the positive, this hotel is right next to the freeway, so we were able to exit the freeway, park our car inside, and then ride our bikes to town - which is a much easier way to get around New Orleans. The hotel is only two blocks from bike paths! Inside the room we had some quirks like the bathroom doors not closing, toilet being difficult to flush, and we never got the Wi-Fi to connect on either of our phones. Apart from that, though, the room has a big window and was clean enough. I think that of this hotel fixes their automated response, fixes their listing for consistency (in some places it says parking is included; in others not), and if they do a better job responding to digital correspondence, it would have potential to be good.
- Sandra (8/5): - All was good
