Guest Reviews
- ishmael (6/5): Grand star hotel accra review - It was just standard good hotel.
- ishmael (8/5): - Overall good
- Abigail (10/5): - It was great staying at grandstar !! The staff are amazing and really helpful and friendly !
- Oppong (8/5): Bad road, Nice experience - Nice experience, I would highly recommend. The only problem is the road linking to the hotel is horrible
- Patricia (10/5): - 2nd time being there and will continue going back
- Lovella (6/5): - Staff was very welcoming. Restaurant was very good for dining. But the road leafing to the hotel was very bad. Noise from nearby businesses could be heard. Roosters were the early morning wakeup call. I didnt like that they had a prayer session in the lobby and i wasnt allowed in. Very unprofessional.
- David (10/5): - Was amazing
- Anthony (8/5): - Stayed here before and the hospitality is the same great service.
Had issues with lighting in room and was given another room.
Key card entry had issues so had to be let into reception everytime
- dorian (6/5): - The property had roaches, and the front desk needs more training! One might have to ask several times for service before being attended to
- LAWAL (6/5): - Its far from the main city
- Paulette (8/5): - Reserve quiet area
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Good
- Apio (8/5): - Nice place to be
- kenneth (2/5): - I couldn’t make it to the hotel because the road was too bad..
- Gideon (10/5): - Things are in order and well organise.
Customer service is very unique and on point. Quick response and cleanliness is something they really pay attention to. Infact almost everything on point. I enjoyed my stay
- Bukola (8/5): - The property is good but the roads were terrible. The food is great.
- Charles (10/5): Consultant - Great
- esther (8/5): - Is a beautiful place to stay and I love it but the distance is too far from the airport then it says
- Bernard (10/5): - A very nice hotel with excellent rooms. The staff are amazing
- Al (10/5): - The property was very clean and the customer service was super.
- DBenedict B (10/5): - Excellent
- Desmond (8/5): Bad road network - The road network to the hotel is terrible but the hotel environment is great and nice services.
- Adebisi (4/5): - The access to this property was terrible and driver from the airport regret taking me there despite 250 cedis charge, the access road will be unpassable if it rains, very bad roads, very unmotorable roads to this hotel, very far away from the city and everything shown and writing about the hotel is not true at all, I will never go back to this hotel and I will never recommend it to anybody visiting Accra, It costs over 100 cedis by uber to get to the market called makola at the centre of the city, overall this type of hotel should not be on expedia.
- DIANA (8/5): - Difficult to reach and was charged GHc 250 from the airport
- Doreen (10/5): - Going well so far friendly n professional staff. Very nice facility
- Judith (8/5): - Staff very friendly and thoughtful. Hotel good but there was a awful road to get to the hotel And sometimes Uber/taxis didn't want to come there
- Tea (6/5): - Property is very nice and up to date. Check in for foreigners is like getting a home loan at a mortgage company. I’m not the one to fill out multiple questionnaires for something I booked online. My identification should be enough. Road access to the property you will need an all terrain vehicle or something that can handle a bad road and a mini water flow depending upon which direction you come. I see this being a nicer stay in the future once the roads are complete and they work out a few administrative kinks.
- keisha (10/5): - I've traveled to Ghana twice and have stayed at Grand Star both times. The rooms are nice and they are cleaned daily. Front desk staff are friendly. The breakfast was enjoyable. I am a picky eater so I didn't try everything but it all looked good. The roads leading to the hotel are bad, I think that is the hotel's biggest drawback. Any time a stay in Ghana will be 2 weeks or less I plan to stay here. Any longer I would want an apartment so I can have a full kitchen. The rooms have a small fridge and they do offer room service. The menu has a lot of seafood items and I don't eat seafood but what I did order was good.
- Joseph (10/5): - Grand Star is one of the best hotels in Accra, staff are always friendly and helpful and the facilities are well maintained.
- James (8/5): - The roads in and out to the hotel or terrible
- Vida (2/5): - 16 minutes walk to the Legon campus was false and not true.so I had a very terrible time when going to the university of ghana campus
So please they should change 16 minutes walk
- Albert (8/5): - My stay at the Grand Start Hotel was good. Rooms are very clean. The staff members are very friendly and were helpful. The environment is quiet which is good. The internet connection was slow, and the road was leading to the hotel is not in a good order. There are not many social amenities around the hotel. Overall, my stay was good, and I enjoyed it.
- Emmanuel (6/5): - Clean room
- Jerry (6/5): - Good and respectable workers no doubt. Wasn’t impressed water system- water stopped running in the middle of my shower time was a very frustrating moment. The next day when I came back from town at dawn there was no water supply. I literally couldn’t flush the water after I urinated . As embarrassing as it was I had to postpone defecating because I wouldn’t be able to flush when I’m done.
I saw roaches on a few occasions in the room.
These are a few things I recommend they work on.
Otherwise the workers were not to bad/ overall nice staffs.
- Shadrack (10/5): - Cleanliness and good restaurants.
- Richard (10/5): - Nice place really cool and noise free area to sleep for long.
But the road to the hotel needs to be fix that’s all the problem this hotel got.
All the staff are nice, but don’t forget to asked for Godswill at reception and Esther at the restaurant and bar, trust me you will love them😂
I will visit again anytime am in Accra Ghana.
- Darrell (10/5): - The property was clean, quiet, nice staff and remote area away from the city life.
- Nana (10/5): - ROAD TO THE HOTEL IS SO BAD UBER DRIVERS DONT EVEN WANNA GO .HOTEL MANAGEMENT REALLY NEED TO GET THAT ROAD PAVED WITH STREETLIGHTS AND DRAINAGE SYSTEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE .EVEN IF THEY HAVE TO COME UP WITH SOME SORT OF CONTRIBUTION WITH NEIGHBORS ON THAT STRETCH OF
ROAD
- Nana (6/5): - Sometimes UBER DRIVERS and YANGO drivers dont wanna take up calls because of really really really bad roads to this property.Excellent staff, super clean rooms, only problem is the bad toads leading to this property you need a tractor or caterpillar to get to this property
- Samuel (8/5): - It has a calm environment
- Walter (10/5): - The staff was perfect
- Marrin (10/5): - I have never had peace of mind like this place. This is the only Hotel I have enjoyed staying in Ghana.
- Mawuli (8/5): - Great place to stay but roads leading to the hotel are extremely bad.
- Carolyn (8/5): - The roads were bad
- Samuel (8/5): - Great place with great value.
Only downside is the road to the place
- Nii Anokwafo (8/5): - Enjoyed my stay
- Mark A (2/5): - I didn’t get to stay at this property because I was advised by a few people from Accra that it’s pretty far away and traffic would be outrageous. I had to book a different hotel in Accra which was closer to every thing.
The worst thing is that I didn’t even stayed at this hotel, so I requested a refund for the week I was unable to through Expedia and they refused to refund me anything, not even some of it. My thing is that if they wouldn’t give me a refund, how would the actual stay, would of been! I can just imagine the service.
- Prince (10/5): - Cool
- Samuel (10/5): - Good customer service, hotel is in great condition. Very bad road to the location if you are coming from the other direction from transitions funeral homes. Security is good.
- Light (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay, thank you
- Bernett (6/5): - The internet was very slow, if not accessible at all.
- John (10/5): - Good place for newcomers
- Dr Olukemi (10/5): Grand Star Hotel - Haatso was peaceful and calm. I worked indoors as an online journalist. The hotel should add desserts to their menu. That was missing possibly because the meals are fulfilling. Add a fruit salad or ice cream. The Ghanaian meals were excellent and affordable. The staff so pleasant and the whole place CLEAN.
- George (6/5): - Very very very bad road to the facility
- Joan (10/5): - Property was appropriate for a couple nights. Need to update their wifi connection. Poor service
- Yugoslav (8/5): - Good
- Yugoslav (10/5): - Close to tro tro for a quick pick up transportation.
- Tamia (10/5): - The food was very good
- MICHAEL B (6/5): - The place and the fee are ok but a few challenges that need to be taken care of. The pool was dirty, the gym equipment was not working, my AC was not working well, found cockroaches in my bathroom many times, the TV was not working, and my tap had no pressure, the water was dripping. Very disappointing generally but ok for the price if you do not mind the challenges.
- Emmanuel (10/5): - Everything is excellent except dusty road needed to be tarred or alsphalted. This Hotel has brighter future.
- Muhammad (8/5): - Good property at a wronglocation
- Joyce (10/5): - I enjoyed my stay very much the people there are always nice and friendly, I feel I’m part of the family will always choose Grand Star Hotel.
- Joseph (10/5): - This hotel cannot be touched at this price range, hotels twice this price in Accra fall short of this one. I have stayed in 10 different hotels in the Accra area and this one is now my first choice, great price, very clean, great friendly and helpful staff. Like most hotels in Africa there was the occasional power or water outtage.
- Joseph (2/5): Very bad road - Road to the facility is very Horrible. Facility is not at the location stated on the Hotel.com. very far from the main road.
Will not recommend to anyone.
- Natasha (8/5): - Clean hotel, but road it's on is horrible.
- Kassim (6/5): Disappointed - I was disappointed in their services especially the breakfast service
- John (10/5): - While the roads around the hotel need vast improvement, that is not the hotels fault. It was a quiet area, although a bit distant from the airport. The staff were friendly and helpful, house cleaning staff were also helpful. The buildings are a work-in-progress, but i felt secure and safe. The parts of the hotel in-use, are aesthetically appealing.
- James (10/5): - No light in the washroom. Poor road to the hotel.
- Brandon (10/5): - Highly recommend this property to anyone looking to visit Accra. Close to hospital in case emergency, 24/7 staff, pool, gym, hot tub, small market cross road, Uber friendly location, gated to keep everyone safe. 24/7 guard in shack. I loved this hostel and I know you will TOO!
- Osei (10/5): - Second stay here
- Ted P (10/5): - Professional and friendly
- David (10/5): - Excellent
- walter (8/5): - excellent value, staff were helpful, one area of the building, outside near the pool became sprinkled with soil, near the restaurant
- Paa Kwesi (10/5): - The room was very clean
- Donald (10/5): - All good will recommend
- Nana (8/5): - Nice place. The road not too good.
- Agrippa Oniovogha (10/5): An Exceptional Hotel. - A very pleasant stay.
The staff and management of the hotel are exceptional and professional in their attention to handling guests complaint and issues to making sure that we enjoy our stay.
- Paul (6/5): - There was no shower head in the bathroom. And a cockroach in the drawer.
- Robert (6/5): - Very pleasant and friendly staff. Location was a bit difficult to get to. Roads are in poor condition
- Nana Yaw (10/5): - Amazing place to spend some quality time with loved ones n family. Really enjoyed the place n will happily visit again👍
- Calvin (8/5): - Great value and service. Location not so great
- Frederick (8/5): - The rooms were ok , with the prices good but the road leading to the place was terrible
- Kwaku G (2/5): Not worth your money - I don’t even know where to start from, first the road is terrible the hotel noisy with loads of music going on whilst people are resting.
I spoke to the hotel manager to do something about the noise but I don’t think anything was done about it, if you want peaceful place to stay then look for another place because this place will stress you and don’t forget the road is dusty avoid this hotel
- Akua (10/5): - I was very skeptical at first because it was a little bit far from
the airport but my experience with the team was excellent and i believe i’ll go back next time thanks to Sam the Manager, Harriet n co blessings.
- Uniquely-Me (2/5): - You have to travel down a LONG dirt road out away from ANYTHING!!! Sheets weren’t clean, water stopped, and didn’t have a good flow to start. Paid for a week but checked out after 12 hours!!! Traveling from the US and coming in late, you want to be comfortable!!! Money so wasted!!!
- George (8/5): - I liked the cleanliness and spaciousness of the room. apart from the bad state of the road leading to this property, everything else was fine
- Matthew (10/5): - I loved the place
- Calvin (10/5): - The property is great. This is where I prefer to stay when I'm in Accra. I've stayed here a couple times before this stay. The staff is excellent and I highly recommend this place.
- Daniel (10/5): Perfect place to stay - Very nice place
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice and clean place and very friendly, roads are a bit rough to get there WiFi is not that good but infrastructure is there they just need to fix it
- Enoch (8/5): - One of the best place..
The only problem is the location..and bad road 🛣️
- Verified traveler (6/5): Clean rooms - Its affordable but the road to the hotel is horrible. WiFi is a nightmare. Barely works. Had a leakage from my fridge and AC but were easily taking care off. The house keepers do a great job with the cleaning.
- Jack (6/5): - This hotel need some stronger Wifi, there is no Wifi on the third floor.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The concierge was very attentive and helpful. Everyone was nice and greeted is each time with a smile. The bed was comfortable
- Verified traveler (2/5): - None
- Nancy (8/5): - The power went out and i was not happy with that at all. It was too far from town and being a lady traveling alone i did not feel safe. At night at the pool group of guys drinking and smoking weed next to the restaurant. When i went to get food made feel unsafe.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The staff is the best. I was treated with much care. I enjoyed my stay.House keeping the Restaurant 5 stars. I felt like I was at home. This will be my forever home away from home.🇺🇸
- DANIEL (8/5): Stay - It was very pleasant
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Gym
Was dirty and smelly the property was very dusty and not clean. Staff lied of internet and television which came and went it rarely worked properly rodents on property site. Water was not constant nor hot. Parking and shuttle out of order. By far would I recommend it to anyone made my stay in Ghana less than desirable. Manager wasn’t helpful
- George (10/5): - It was a decent hotel I love it
